To Play with Curses

Chapter 4: Savior

By: LiveWild

Hi everyone! Long time no see.

After bing watching season 2 of Jujutsu kaisen, I have found my motivation to pick this story back up.

Hope you all enjoy and happy reading!

Asami woke up covered in sweat, she could feel it tickle down her spine and chest as she rested her back against the backboard of her bed. With a quick flick of her hand, she pushed the heavy bed sheet off her body.

She began sliding her hand across the bed, looking for her phone with the help of the small amount of moonlight that came through the window. She was careful not to move her hand around too fast, the last thing she needed was for it to go flying across the room.

Locating it, Asami looked at the bright screen with squinting eyes, 4:53.

Two text messages from mom, five emails, and a follower request on Twitter.

She had only managed to sleep for 53 minutes.

She was barely able to get her eyes to shut since they came back from their mission in the cave. The events played through her head on repeat, the curse, the darkness, Fushurgio's demon dog, Itadori's flamed fists, Akari waiting for them back at the high school to give her a hug of relief.

Relief. That's what she wasn't feeling.

The mission went how it was supposed to, for the most part. They won. Asami saw the blood, the body of the curse, it was confirmation that they won. Yet, she couldn't sleep.

Asami placed her phone down, allowing her to cover her face with both hands. It suddenly became hard to breathe.

For fuck sake, why does my chest feel so tight?

Her initial reasoning was that she was thinking too much about the situation, she was freaking herself out over nothing. She was going to send herself into a panic.

She focused on the clicking of the clock located above her. The damn thing was so loud she wondered if maybe the clock was actually to blame for her nerves and not the mission.

Tick… Tick… Tick... Tick...

"Breathe, Asami." Her voice sounded muffled as her mouth was pressed into her palms.

Tick… Tick… Tick.. Tick…

She began to wonder about another theory to her panic, what if just being at the school was sending her into a spiral. She was never like this, granted she never had to worry about monsters before and that the only thing that came close to a man eating curse was her math teacher.

Asami felt herself begin to shake subtly. It felt like her body was trying to tell her something, was she sick? Was she coming down with a fever?

Great, that's exactly what I need right now.

Suddenly, Asami froze. She couldn't hear the ticking of the clock anymore. She waited for what felt like an eternity for the sound of her click. Nothing, she couldn't hear anything anymore.

Asami escaped the darkness of her hands only to be meant with another. All but her bed was engulfed with it.

No, no, no, no!

Asami pushed her back further into the backrest, causing the wood to creek slightly. The only logical explanation was that she was hallucinating from the lack of sleep. The thought comforted her until she felt the curse's tongue come from beside her and licked her cheek.

Its tongue was revoltingly wet.

"Dee-licious." Its shaky voice said.

Asami screamed at the top of her lungs before pushing her body away from the curse. She crab crawled to the other side of the bed until her head hit the dark barrier.

Shit.

She wouldn't get out.

Without much thought, she began pushing against the barrier. Hitting it with her palms then fists, screaming for help. The darkness around her was undoubtedly blocking any sound from going out.

The curse let out a growl and Asami found herself falling off the bed and onto the floor with a loud thud, landing face first.

It had manipulated the barrier to make her fall.

Asami lifted her head up and looked around in hysteria. The darkness was covering less of an area now than it did before. She could see her bed and the ground immediately around it but the walls were out of sight.

No walls, no door, no windows. No escape route.

What was she to do? What could she do?

The curse was holding onto the barrier above her, hanging onto it like a spider. Its spine arched inward to look down at her with a grin. Its teeth dripped with thick saliva, a few drops landing inches from her body.

The curse's eyes widened almost playfully as Asami began panting.

"M-m-more." Its long, purple tongue rolled out from the depths of its mouth.

The darkness from behind her came alive and launched Asami into the air towards the monster. Asami gasped as her limbs felt weightless. She was air bound only for a moment before its boney tail wrapped around her tightly, so tight Asami couldn't make a sound.

The monster began pulling its tail close to its face, its ruby colored eyes seemed to beam with joy at the sight of Asami, it was like a kid at a candy shop.

"No, let me go!" She thrashed around.

In an attempt to break free, Asami wiggled her body around desperately. Sensing one of her legs wasn't as secured in by the tail, she focused her strength there.

She felt pain around her lower arms and thighs where the tail held her captive, the sharp spines began piercing into her flesh like a hot knife thru butter. She hissed in pain as her eyes watered.

I'm going to die.

Wasn't this supposed to be the Tokyo Jujutsu High School of Sorcery? One of the safest places?

She was so close to its mouth that she could smell its breath, it wrecked of decaying flesh. That's what she was destined to become. She closed her eyes in fear.

"We won't let anything happen to you."

He said he was going to keep her safe. the pink haired boy. She never would have thought that during her last moments she would think of him. Yet, there she was.

"Y-Y-uu-mmyy."

The curse's mouth soon began to open, showcasing the back of his throat that was covered in tiny, sharp teeth. She had never looked into the jaws of a great white but she was positive this was what it would be like.

"We won't let anything happen to you." She heard his voice in her head again.

Asami's eyes turned a blinding white as hot tears escaped the corners of her eyes.

"Itadori." she whispered.

At that moment, everything felt like it was going in slow motion for Asami. Her head got lighter and her heart felt like it was going to stop beating. Asami couldn't feel the stream of blood swimming down her legs anymore. There was no pain anymore.

No more pain.

This was not how she was supposed to die, she felt it with every inch of her body and soul right then and there. There would be a time where death would await her but this wasn't it. Her vision now allowed her to see the bright blue outline of the beast, she was also able to see a spot where energy was oozing out of its body. It had to have been a wound. It was the place where Itadori delivered his deadly blow. That's where it was the weakest, she had a chance.

Building up whatever strength she had, Asami threw her leg back, kicking the curse directly on his side. Perfect aim.

The curse sent her hurling back towards the ground with an ear piercing roar. She hit the earth like a ragdoll toy, the wooden floor cracked on impact.

Pain, she was in so much pain. Something had to have been broken, maybe a rib or two. Asami hugged her side with one arm as her other attempted to lift her up off the ground.

The dark barrier around her began flickering, this was her chance.

Get up, get up!

She could hear the beast hissing with anger. She hit him hard, but nearly enough to do as much damage as she hoped. It will be after her again soon.

"Itadori." She found herself screaming, begging.

Help me.

Crawling on the ground, Asami reached for the now visible door with a blood covered hand. With the thinning of the barrier, her cries had to reach someone, anyone.

I don't want to die.

"Asami-chan, I hope you're not counting on Yuuji to come save you," a voice from above Asami spoke, "I must say I'm a little offended you didn't call for me."

Asami looked upward to where Gojo was floating, a smirk molded his lips.

The last thing Asami remembered was the relief that finally filled her, the sense of relief she had been missing.

One of Gojo's hand's lifted the side of his blind fold, revealing a glowing blue eye.

Asami attempted to cast him a smile before her body collapsed, casting her in her own world of darkness.

Hmmm, do you think Itadori heard Asami?

We shall see...

When will we get an Asami and Sukuna interaction?

Very soonnn!
