I DO NOT OWN BEN 10 AND MARVEL
Chapter 19 "Dark Pheonix"
As Ben, Sophia, and Rosie emerged from the timeline portal into the year 1992, they found themselves on a train in the midst of a chaotic battle. Soldiers were engaged in a fierce conflict with the Shape-shifters, the D'Bari forces. The train carriages rumbled with the intensity of the battle, and the air was thick with tension.
Ben, Sophia, and Rosie found an unoccupied seat and settled in comfortably. Sophia, aware of Ben's preference, took out a bag of popcorn, and they began to enjoy the unfolding battle from their hidden vantage point.
They observed the intense battle between the soldiers and the shape-shifters on the train. The mutants had not yet noticed their presence, allowing them to enjoy the spectacle unfolding before them.
The battle raged on between the soldiers and the shape-shifters, but when the shape-shifters gained the upper hand, the mutants were released from their restraints to confront the threat.
They watched as the mutants on the train, including Storm, Beast, Eric, and Scott, were eventually freed from their restraints to confront the D'Bari threat. Each mutant used their unique powers to combat the shape-shifters.
Mutants like Storm, Magneto, Beast and Nightcrawler took on the D'Bari attackers.
Storm exhibited her mastery over the wind, sending a powerful gust that sent a D'Bari attacker flying into one of the train cabins. The impact was fierce, leaving the shape-shifter incapacitated.
Eric utilized his magnetic powers to manipulate the train's metal structure. He crushed the cabin housing the shape-shifting aliens, inflicting fatal damage upon them. The D'Bari were no match for his control over magnetism.
As the mutants took control of the situation, Ben, Sophia, and Rosie continued to enjoy their popcorn, relishing the spectacular display of mutant abilities while remaining unnoticed by the combatants.
Amongst the battle, a mysterious girl dressed in a black suit leapt onto the scene. She quickly overpowered Beast, rendering him immobilized and unable to continue fighting. Nightcrawler attempted to engage her by teleporting around, but she effortlessly incapacitated him with a single punch, leaving him immobile as well.
Storm tried to combat the black-suited girl, unleashing a powerful thunder attack. However, the girl not only caught the attack but also redirected it, mixing it with her own energy in shades of yellow and orange. The combined force of the attack left Storm immobilized, adding to the challenges faced by the mutants on the train.
Magneto, ready to defend his allies, confronted the black-suited girl.
Vuk confronted Magneto, questioning his intentions. "Magneto, I believe you wish to eliminate Jean. Why are you obstructing me?" she asked.
"I've changed, Vuk," Magneto responded. He seized control of numerous guns and opened fire on Vuk, inflicting damage upon her skin. However, Vuk's regenerative abilities quickly repaired the harm. She advanced toward Magneto.
With a series of swift gestures, Vuk manipulated the environment and flung Magneto aside, leaving him incapacitated. Scott, struggling to activate his eye beams, finally managed to unleash them, but they proved ineffective against Vuk. She redirected his eye beams back at him, rendering Scott immobilized as well. Vuk's formidable abilities continued to pose a significant threat to the mutants on the train.
The battle had taken a dire turn, with Vuk proving to be an incredibly formidable adversary, and the mutants struggling to contain her. The intense fight continued on the train, with the fate of Jean Grey and the Dark Phoenix power hanging in the balance.
Charles Xavier attempted to reason with Vuk, warning her about the uncontrollable power of the Dark Phoenix within Jean Grey. He reached out and attempted to influence Vuk's thoughts, saying, "Vuk, you can't control the Dark Phoenix power."
However, Vuk had already made her decision to absorb all of Jean Grey's power and left Charles helpless in her wake.
Vuk remained resolute, replying, "It doesn't matter, Charles. I've already absorbed two-thirds of the power. My goal is to take control of all the power within Jean Grey." With her determination to possess the full extent of the Dark Phoenix power, she left Charles Xavier behind, his efforts proving futile against her unwavering resolve.
As Vuk neared the final coach where Jean was being held, she encountered an unexpected sight. There, in the last row, sat one boy flanked by two girls, calmly enjoying popcorn. This spectacle baffled her, given the intense battle unfolding inside the train.
Vuk's shock and frustration grew as she encountered three individuals sitting in the rear of the last coach.
Vuk was in the midst of fierce combat with every mutant on board, and the nonchalant demeanor of the boy and girls, relishing their popcorn while observing the intense skirmish, struck her as a significant humiliation.
"Who are you?" Vuk demanded, her voice laced with anger and curiosity as she sought to understand the purpose of these seemingly nonchalant spectators.
Vuk's sharp shout resonated, commanding the attention of everyone in the vicinity. The mutants and soldiers on the train, who were baffled by the sight of three individuals seemingly unperturbed by the ongoing chaos.
The sight of these individuals sitting calmly in one corner, enjoying popcorn amidst the intense battle, left many people astonished.
Charles Xavier experienced a sense of déjà vu, realizing he had encountered these individuals back in 1962 during a confrontation with Emma Frost. He attempted to delve into their minds, but to his bewilderment, he found himself unable to penetrate their thoughts. What puzzled him further was that they seemed to have barely aged a day in the thirty years that had transpired since their previous encounter. They remained as they were in their twenties, even though more than three decades had passed.
The shock rippled through the mutants on the train. Beast, Nightcrawler, and Scott, who had been battling fiercely against Vuk, were equally taken aback by the sight of these individuals casually enjoying popcorn while the battle raged on.
The most profound sense of surprise, however, was experienced by Storm and Erik. Nine years earlier, they had witnessed the tragic and gruesome death of En Sabah Nur, known as Apocalypse. He had been rendered utterly powerless in the presence of Ben, slowly reduced to nothing but ash. Eric, Storm, and Angel had vowed never to speak of that incident and had tried to relegate it to the recesses of their minds; yet there they were, confronted by a stark reminder of that haunting memory.
The memories of these encounters had left a lasting impact on Storm, Eric, and Psylocke. They remembered how Psylocke had been captured by these enigmatic individuals. Over the past nine years, Storm had maintained contact with Elizabeth, who now lived with Emma Frost, along with her son and daughter.
The complexities of these relationships and their entanglement with Ben and his vast, mysterious past added an intriguing layer to the ongoing saga.
"I am Ben Tennyson," he said, gesturing towards his two wives, Sophia and Rosie. "These are my wives, Sophia and Rosie Alexander." Ben's casual introduction and response left Vuk seething with anger. She couldn't comprehend how they could remain so calm in the midst of such a fierce battle.
"Why are you here?" Vuk demanded. "Answer me, or I will kill you."
With a nonchalant demeanor, Ben explained his reason for being there. "Well, the reason is, I arrived here just a few hours ago, saw a massive fight going on inside the train, and I thought, why not enjoy the show? So, I's here, enjoying it. Would you like some popcorn? And now that you've finished with your questions, shall you continue with the fight so my family can keep enjoying it?" Ben's tone was oddly casual given the circumstances.
Ben's calm and nonchalant demeanor in the midst of chaos bewildered Vuk, who was clearly losing her patience.
Sophia added, "We're not here to interfere with your plans, Vuk. We simply found the fight entertaining and decided to watch."
Rosie chimed in, "And Ben's right; if you're going to fight, start it."
This unusual behavior and their lack of fear in the face of danger left Vuk even more furious and baffled.
Filled with rage and a desire for retribution, Vuk prepared to face Sophia. "I will destroy you!" her threat was clear as she braced herself for the impending battle.
"Sophia, why don't you fight with her? You see, every time we engage in a villain, it's good practice for you." Ben said to Sophia.
Under Ben's direction, Sophia accepted the challenge. Standing before Vuk, she taunted her opponent. "So, you want to destroy us? Why not try now?" The tension in the air thickened as these two powerful beings prepared to clash.
"So, you want to get humiliated," Vuk said. She used telepathic powers to communicate. She wanted Sophia to strip naked and dance in front of strangers, and she would be humiliated.
Sophia remained unfazed by Vuk's attempts to use her telepathic powers. "When you're ready to fight," she calmly replied. She was puzzled by Vuk's actions; the girl had been standing still for five minutes without engaging in combat.
Vuk finally realized her telepathic powers were of no use, and she felt humiliated by her futile efforts. She resorted to her Energy Projection, creating numerous energy beams aimed at Sophia. "Feel what it's like to be destroyed!" she shouted, sending the energy beams toward Sophia.
But before they could reach Sophia, she vanished, utilizing her teleportation powers. In an instant, she reappeared behind Vuk. "Vuk, if that's your best attack, then I must say I'm quite disappointed," Sophia taunted.
Frustrated by Sophia's evasiveness, Vuk channeled her Telekinesis to redirect the energy beams toward her. Sophia did her best to evade the relentless assault, but she was not an experienced fighter, and it was her first battle.
As Sophia attempted to dodge, she was hit by one of the Energy Beam attacks. Losing her balance, she became a vulnerable target for Vuk's unrelenting assault. The Energy Beams tore through her body, inflicting severe damage. In a final, powerful blast, her form shattered and scattered across the train.
Vuk saw Sophia easily evade her attack. She used her Telekinesis power to turn all of the energy beams back towards Sophia.
Sophia continued evading the attack, but eventually got hit by one of the energy beams. She couldn't help it; she wasn't an experienced fighter. This was her first fight.
Vuk saw Sophia lose her balance; she continued her attack. Tearing at Sophia's body from multiple angles, like a giant beam, Vuk split Sophia into numerous pieces on the train.
The reactions of those present were a mix of shock, surprise, and sadness.
Beast was shocked that Sophia could continuously dodge the Energy Beams, but he was taken aback when she eventually lost.
Nightcrawler was astonished that someone possessed the same powers as him but had more experience.
Scott was also shocked by what he was witnessing, and as Sophia's body began to fall apart, his shock turned into a sense of loss.
Charles initially felt happy that someone had been able to stop Vuk, but his happiness was short-lived as he watched Sophia's fate unfold.
The battle had taken an unexpected turn with the apparent loss of Sophia.
Their shock became even greater when they discovered all of Sophia's body parts had come together and were reforming into one whole body; it was like a miracle.
The unexpected resurrection of Sophia left Beast, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and Professor X shocked. They were not prepared for such a miraculous event.
Eric and Storm, on the other hand, remained calm, having previously witnessed this incredible display of power.
Vuk, the antagonist, was equally astonished by this turn of events. Her inability to comprehend what had just occurred added another layer of complexity to the situation.
Vuk's resurrection powers were not so extraordinary without acquiring all of the Dark Phoenix's power. Which Sophie's did.
Frustrated and humiliated, Vuk attempted to use her powers against Sophia once more. This time, she unleashed an array of energy beams alongside the activation of her Telekinesis.
Sophia, instead of dodging the attacks, allowed herself to be hit. As before, she shattered into fragments.
Vuk, thinking she had finally succeeded, activated her Reality Manipulation powers to erase Sophia's existence from reality. She assumed Sophia's fragments were no longer present, and a sense of relief washed over her.
"You have seen my power," Vuk said, shocked as she found Sophia again. Sophia nestled herself in Ben's arms.
Vuk was shocked to see Sophia reappear, nestled in Ben's arms.
"You are truly useless, and our fight has become quite boring. My king won't even be able to enjoy it." Sophia taunted her, giving a peck on Ben's cheek.
Vuk felt rage, anger, and a sense of humiliation. She had finally realized that their battles were merely a source of entertainment for Ben, Sophia, and Rosie. This increased her anger even more.
"You will feel my rage," she shouted as she activated Energy Projection and created an energy beam with Telekinesis, pointing all of her powers at Rosie. She used Reality Manipulation to erase the existence of Rosie from reality.
She thought maybe Sophia had immortal powers, but Rosie did not.
Vuk is wrong, Rosie also instantaneously regenerates herself. As she was looking at this idiot, her reaction was one of disgust.
The battle between Vuk and Sophia left the mutants shocked and amazed. Beast, Nightcrawler, Scott, Eric, Storm, and Charles Xavier all had varying reactions to the incredible display of powers, but none of them could fully comprehend the extent of what they were witnessing.
Beast was astounded, having never witnessed such an amazing display of power. Nightcrawler felt a sense of inferiority in comparison to Sophia's abilities. Scott, who had difficulty controlling his teleportation ability, was taken aback.
Eric and Storm, though still surprised, had a more tempered reaction, as they had prior knowledge of Sophia and Rosie's powers.
Initially delighted when he thought Vuk might not be able to control the Dark Phoenix's power, Charles Xavier's joy quickly faded when he realized that Sophie had stopped fighting Vuk.
Xavier was about to tell Ben to stop Vuk, but before he could speak, he saw Vuk attacking Rosie.
Ben was angry, so angry, his red eyes were proof of this. Even he didn't know what had happened; when someone attacked Rosie. He felt the same reaction for all of his girls, but when Sophia got attacked, he didn't show any reaction.
He knows because Sophia will never die, unless someone has the power to stop instant regeneration. But Rosie also has the same power.
He realized this now; Rosie was his turning point. Perhaps it was because she was the youngest among his daughters. Or maybe it was because she was shy. Or perhaps it was because she always fulfilled his every wish. Or maybe it was because she never demanded anything. Or maybe, because she would always have those puppy eyes, filled with tears on the inside, and he knew exactly what she wanted. In any case, he was angry.
Ben quickly caught the Vuk by the neck. "Well, you see, Rosie is my everything. I love her so much. Once, a person claiming to be a god attacked her. But you know what happened afterward; he was begging me to spare his life. He even acknowledged himself as my servant. But he's dead now."
Eric and Storm know whom Ben is referring to.
Vuk found herself frozen. And in some seconds, she broke down. But she again appeared.
"Maybe, you are the strongest, but since I have the power of the Dark Phoenix, you cannot kill me. Because I will be able to resurrect myself, using my Resurrection power." Vuk taunted. Finally, she was also able to demonstrate how she could use her powers.
She also knows, since she does not have all of the Dark Phoenix's power, she can only resurrect herself nine times.
Ben was somewhat amused by Dark Phoenix's powers. However, he also knew that not all Phoenixes were capable of constantly resurrecting and it took them time to grow into adulthood.
The Dark Phoenix is something special; she has done something taboo, resulting in gaining herself immortality. However, it also took her will and body. She became the Dark Phoenix from the Fire Pheonix. Now, she can only exist by inhabiting another being.
This time, he froze only one of her hands. "Well, even if you have the full Dark Phoenix's power. My decision is final, even the Dark Phoenix is unable to save you. So, what can a mere power do?" He shouted as he broke her hand. As the broken hand was trying to fix itself, he took away the Dark Phoenix's power from it, causing her to scream in pain as her broken hand disintegrated.
It was a shocking movement for anyone. Vuk finally realized her left hand was not recovering as quickly as she had hoped, "How is this even possible?" She was shocked, and fear began to brew within her.
Well, it is not impossible, if I leave you for a year or two, your hands might recover, but since you are facing me." Ben said as he froze her right hand, which had shattered into pieces after she fell, and again, all the Dark Phoenix energy gathered from around her body, joining itself together on the same spot where the first one was.
Vuk screams in pain, "You're quite beautiful," Ben says, as he holds her chin, "but this is the face you have stolen, you filthy, ugly alien." With his free hand, he shatters all of her body parts, leaving only her head intact. Before the Vuk's body resurrects, he takes away all of her force, causing her existence to cease to exist. As the Dark Phoenix's force is taken away, she cannot find Vuk; Dark Phoenix's force slips into Jean's body, as she was hiding in the last cabin.
All of the mutants were shocked by seeing such a horrific death. Eric and Storm's reactions were slightly more normal, but even they were awestruck by what they saw. This time, though, they witnessed Ben's powers firsthand; one time he burned Apocalypse, this time he froze Vuk. From now on, Erik and Storm's prayers are that they never anger Ben again.
The silence had settled in; Ben was now ready to meet Emma and Elizabeth. But when he was about to leave, he heard Charles calling his name.
When Professor X called out to him, he paused to hear what the telepathic leader of the X-Men had to say. Xavier didn't want to talk to this Death God. But he saw that Ben was able to control the Phoenix power, and he wanted Ben's help.
Xavier expressed his concern for Jean Grey's unstable condition and her long history of struggling with her powers.
"Ben, if you are able to control Dark Phoenix's power, please consider helping the Jean Grey. She has had a difficult life; she was in an unstable condition," Xavier urged, expressing his concern for Jean's precarious situation.
Ben knew about Jean's situation but hadn't considered intervening before; she was in a budding romantic relationship with Scott Summers and knew they hadn't crossed the line, but this was not his problem. Xavier's request made him question Scott's stance.
Turning his attention to Xavier, Ben asked for confirmation. "Scott has no problem with this?" He wanted to ensure that helping Jean wouldn't cause any issues in her relationship with Scott. He didn't want to overstep any boundaries.
Yes, what problem could Scott have with it? He'll likely be happier with this decision," Xavier replied, finding the question somewhat perplexing.
"Scott felt the weight of Charles and Ben's eyes on him, and after a moment's hesitation, he spoke: "Yes, I have no problem with it."
With everyone in agreement, Ben proceeded to open the gate to the last cabin, where Jean was seated. Jean had been privy to the discussion and understood what was unfolding.
