A/N: Hello everyone! Welcome to my first ever "official" fanfic. "Official" just because I wrote some a long time ago which I was too embarrassed to publish online.

I wasn't too sure if this title will go along well with the story, but I finally decided to stick with this *cringey* one. Haha! Some chapters may contain spoilers from BNHA Season 3 so if you haven't reached that point of the anime yet, don't read it. But if you don't really care, then enjoy! :)

The plot will start right after the Kamino Ward incident and may not follow the exact storyline. Please feel free to comment! The first chapter may be too long, but I hope you continue reading!

CHAPTER 1

It was just an ordinary afternoon. I rummaged through the fridge looking for something to eat only to find out that I just have a little bit of chicken curry from last night. My stomach growled.

"You seriously need to buy stuff that are edible, Yuriko." I told myself as I gave up staring at all the candy bars and sodas inside the fridge. I put on my coat over my shirt and leggings, grabbed my sling bag and rode my bike listing up stuff I need to buy in my head. It was a peaceful ride to the grocery store. I passed by the park amused at how the place was packed with families enjoying their time over some sandwiches and desserts. My mouth drooled a bit staring at how mouth-watering it looked. I hurriedly pedaled my bike feeling a pang of hunger in my stomach.

I reached the grocery store and scanned through the shelves looking for things I needed for the whole week.

"I wonder what grandpa wants." I thought of checking out the labels in the grocery store and particularly found one that my grandfather likes. "Oh! Taiyaki!" I beamed with excitement. I put a bunch of frozen fish-shaped cake in the basket. As I walked going to the counter, I pulled out my phone to send a message to my grandpa. A bit preoccupied, I didn't notice I was about to bump into someone. It was too late. I lost balance and fell down on the ground. The person I accidentally collided into collapsed on top of me.

CRASH!

A couple of taiyaki fell from my basket. Knowing my head will hit the hard pavement, I was already thinking of using my quirk to protect myself. Instead, I felt warm and strong arms securing it from the fall. I looked at the person who bumped into me. His right hand was at the back of my head and his left hand holding my phone.

He caught my phone? Good reflex.

I felt him on my right with a little bit of his spiky blonde hair brushing my cheek. We both looked at each other at the same time. His crimson eyes meeting my brown ones.

I think I've seen this person before.

The blonde boy realizing our awkward position, softly let go of my head still staring at me with gentle eyes. He stood up, dusted his shirt... glared at me and yelled.

Wow. What a sudden shift of mood.

"HEY WOMAN! YOU BETTER LOOK WHERE YOU'RE GOING NEXT TIME! DO IT AGAIN AND YOU'LL DIE!"

Yup. Bipolar. For the first time in my life, I've met someone who's bipolar.

Knowing it was just a waste of time arguing with him, I collected the taiyaki on the floor. "I'm sorry. I was busy sending a message on my phone..." was all I could answer.

Duh, he obviously wasn't looking where he's going either.

The blonde boy looked surprised at my response. From the corner of my eye, I saw him slowly kneeled and helped me pick up the taiyaki lying on the floor. I stared at him in shock not expecting he would help prior to his unfiltered outburst of words.

He stood up after he placed the last piece of taiyaki in my basket. Then I realized...

"Bakugo Katsuki?!" I said out loud.

He stared at me. His brows furrowed questioningly.

Oops, that may be too weird. Now he thinks I'm a freak. I quickly thought of something to say before he could assume that I'm a stalker.

"From the UA Sports Festival? Right?" I smiled and stood up beside him. I swear I saw him smirk once I mentioned the event. He handed me my phone.

"Yeah, why? Are you another side character checking out a competition? You better train yourself to death if you want to get a spotlight." He said adamantly as he walked away from me.

This guy is really full of himself.

Before he could get any further, I said, "You're also the UA student involved in the Kamino Ward incident right?"

Bakugo stopped, peeked over at his shoulders and glared at me. I actually didn't say that to imply something. It's just that this boy is too arrogant for god's sake. I just had to say something that would subtly crush his ego. I've watched it all over the news. Just yesterday, All Might sacrificed himself to save a UA student seized by the League of Villains. Feeling guilty, I thought of sugarcoating my blunt remarks hoping he'd feel a bit better.

"Uh I mean... You were a great help to All Might back there. At least, that's what I thought." I said with a smile. I felt his glare disappeared. Right at this moment, I swear he gave off a softened look.

Okay. Really bi-polar. How could someone switch emotions that quickly?

Trying to figure out what was happening in that head of his, I thought he was downright blaming himself of the incident. Was he really thinking of it that way? Must have been hard.

"Th-"

I think I heard him about to say something.

"KATSUKI! WE'RE READY TO GO!" A female with a low-pitched voice called from afar. "GET YOUR ASS HERE ALREADY! WE DON'T WANT YOU MISSING AGAIN IDIOT!"

I let out a soft giggle. His hand run through his hair scratching the back of his head embarrassed.

"THE FUCK!" He said out loud glancing at the woman calling him from afar.

I took it as a hint that he needs to go so I just nodded at him politely and headed towards the counter. I was about to take a step when I felt a tight grip on my wrist.

"Wait." He softly took his hands off my wristand cleared his throat when I faced him. "You said you saw me at the Sports Festival."

I tucked a strand of black hair on my ear. I looked at his crimson eyes.

"Well, the UA Sports Festival was a big of an event and it wasn't really that hard to spot you during the battles. Especially, with that flashy quirk." I replied curious as to where this conversation is leading to.

"I didn't see you during the event. From which department are you? What's your quirk?" He looked serious more than ever. He stared at me waiting for an answer. I glanced away thinking if I should say where I'm from. Or for that matter, what my quirk is... My eyes steadied on the almost thawing taiyaki.

"Well.. You see I'm not actually from UA... I'm studying at Sh-"

"KATSUKI!" A woman who just looked liked him, only her hair is longer, suddenly approached us impatiently, hitting the back of his head.

"My apologies young lady! Is my son bothering you? I really need to bring him home now. I'm sorry if he was harassing you."

"YOU OLD HAG! STOP EMBARRASSING ME!"

"Ah no, no. Actually, he was just asking me a few questions." I replied.

"Oh is that so? Well, anyway! Gotta bring this bastard along with me. Goodbye!"

Bakugo's mother hurriedly pulled him away by his ear. I smiled at the sight of them. I immediately went to the counter to pay everything that I bought. Securing all my stuff, I rode my bike and pedaled away. I stopped by one of the appliance store just around the corner. Scanning all the shows from 10 flat screen televisions of different sizes, one in particular caught my interest. It was a news update from yesterday's incident.

I heard from my grandfather that it wasn't just Bakugo involved in the Kamino Ward incident. There were other students too including that one dual-haired boy who I've already known for a while.

I wonder if he's okay. I'm not the one who usually checks up on someone but... What the hell. I pulled out my phone and searched through my contacts.

Todoroki Shoto.

Our text message history wasn't really that much. I looked at my phone and scrolled through our past conversations. The last one we had was months ago.

Todoroki Shoto: My old man is asking where you are right now.

Me: Wait! Just running a bit late! I'll be there in a minute.

Todoroki Shoto: No worries. Take your time.

Me: Hey Shoto. I heard about the Hosu incident. Are you okay?

Todoroki Shoto: Yup. No need to worry.

Me: Your father called me and he planned on letting me visit you this weekend.

Todoroki Shoto: No need for that. I'll probably be out today. They're just checking up on me.

Me: Alright! I'll see you some other time, then.

Todoroki Shoto: Yes. See you.

Okay. I seriously don't know what to tell him.

I've put off texting him and decided to just come up with something decent in my head. I rode my bike home and passed through the almost empty park. I felt the cold wind brush against my face still internally arguing if I should send something to Shoto.

Arriving home, I placed the stuff I bought in the fridge. I thought of cooking tonkatsu for dinner and started preparing what I needed. As I waited for the rice to cook in the cooker, I took a shower still busy composing in my head.

I walked out of the bath with newly-changed clothes and a towel wrapped around my head.

How are you?

What are you doing?

Hey, what's up?

Argh! Come on Yuriko, think of something!

I immediately pressed DELETE. I removed the towel from my head and ran through my long black hair wiping it with the towel to let it dry.

Will it be too awkward? I actually haven't seen him for a couple of months since we're both busy with school.

I was suddenly diverted from my deep thoughts when someone called out from the living room.

"I'M HOME!"

Oh shoot. Almost forgot about the cooker!

An old man, a foot shorter from mine, entered the door leaving his black leather shoes on the genkan. He has white hair and long beard extending towards his neck.

"Grandpa! You're home!" I approached him and hugged him tightly.

Grandfather hugged me in return and patted my back.

"I see your making dinner?"

"Yup! The taiyaki I bought are inside the fridge!"

Grandpa's eyes twinkled as he heard me say taiyaki. He quickly reached through the fridge, got two pieces and heated both in the microwave. He pulled a chair from the dining table and waited patiently for it to heat up. I sat across him.

"So, how is All Might doing, grandpa?"

"He's doing well. But his health is gradually deteriorating from all the injuries he had. Poor boy."

"It could have been worse though if you weren't there with him." I sighed.

Despite my grandfather's frail exterior and unknowingly to most people, he trained and mentored the greatest hero, All Might. Sorahiko Torino, famously known by his hero name; Gran Torino was present in yesterday's villain attack. Although he walked out with only minor injuries, he was also forced to have a full medical check-up.

I stood up from my seat and prepared our food. We started to eat and for a brief moment, I forgot what has been bothering me since I remembered the Kamino incident earlier this afternoon. Or so I thought...

"By the way, Yuriko. Have you already checked on Todoroki?"

I choked on my food. I softly hit my chest hoping it would eventually go down from my throat. I felt the heat settled on my cheeks.

"What's wrong? Why is your face all flushed?" Grandfather looked at me laughing, pieces of food coming out of his mouth as he laughed.

"Nothing." I cleared my throat. "The food was just hot." I lied. I guzzled down the water from my glass.

"So did you already check up on him?"

"I was about to but I was occupied with my errands today. I'll message him before I go to sleep." I replied. I took a bite of food from my plate.

Silence filled the dining room for a moment. I started to wonder if something was bothering grandpa. From the corner of my eye, I saw him peeked at me and back from his food.

"Grandpa." I broke the silence. "What's the matter?"

"I was just thinking..."

"Thinking of?"

"If it was a good idea to have you go through this arrangement at your age."

"Are you starting to feel bad for me?" I laughed at him.

"Kind of." He replied with a serious face.

I noticed how sad his eyes were as he said those words. I wanted to comfort him. Uncomfortable as I may still feel towards Shoto's arranged marriage with me, I wanted to tell him that it's alright. It wasn't his idea in the first place. All we knew that it was for my own good the very day it was decided.

"Hey grandpa!" I forced to smile at him. "Don't worry about me. And for the record, it wasn't your decision to make. And I guess I'll be okay with it eventually. He's not a bad guy after all."

Compared to that weird blonde I met earlier.

Gran Torino smiled at me. Was he forcing a smile too?

The rest of the night was spent with grandfather eating half of the taiyaki I bought and watching some shows on TV. Before I knew it, he had dozed off on the couch. I got a blanket from one of the cabinets and wrapped it around him. I turned off the TV and went straight to my bedroom. I looked at my phone laying on my study table. I pressed the home button to see if I got any message.

1 unread message - Todoroki Shoto

I stared back with widened eyes. Wait, did my heart just skip a beat? Argh! What am I saying?

I unlocked my phone and read his message. What could it be?

Todoroki Shoto: Not sure if the news has reached you already but I'm pretty sure it did considering that Gran Torino is your grandfather. Just wanted to make sure if he's alright after the incident yesterday.

Oh. He was just asking if grandpa was doing okay. So much for being hopeful, Yuri.

I hit my head. My phone rang again. Another message from him.

Todoroki Shoto: I'm doing fine and didn't get in too much trouble this time. You might be busy and all with school. Thought I should let you know.

Was he just updating me of what happened to him? That's a first!

I hit REPLY.

Me: Hi! Grandfather is doing well.

I hit SEND. I started to fumble through my keypad again.

Me: I heard about the incident. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to ask you. I was a bit busy with school and errands. I'm glad you're okay.

SENT.

I don't know why I'm anxiously waiting for his reply. It just made me kind of glad that he wanted me to know how he was doing since that rarely happens.

PING! One unread message.

Todoroki Shoto: Thanks. It's actually been a while since I last saw you. Hope you're doing okay with school.

Me: Oh yeah. It's been a couple of months since the meeting. Will you be taking the provisional licensing exam?

Todoroki Shoto: Yes. We will be taking it this month. How about you?

Me: Yup, this month too. I guess I'll see you by then?

Todoroki Shoto: Yes. See you. Good night, Yuri.

Me: Good night, Shoto.

That night, I slept with a smile on my face.

Stop smiling, idiot!

A/N: And... that's it! I will try to upload the second chapter sometime this week. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think :)
