Important info to know before you start
Danny is 17
Phantom Planet hadn't happened and his secret identity is still a secret. Not because I didn't like it but because it works better. I thought Phantom Planet was an okay watch
Sam and Danny are just friends.
Chapter 1: Much needed
Danny was flying through the sky of Amity Park as he had finished his patrol for the night. Well, he would have actually been finished some time ago if it wasn't for the fact that a bunch of animal ghosts had decided to rampage through the street and he was the only one that was able to take them down.
"Why did they have to come out today? Why couldn't they have broken out next week, when I actually had more than three hours of sleep!"
Danny had been up all night for the past four days and his exhaustion was finally getting to him.
The first night, there was a tech convention that had all the latest pieces of electronic devices being displayed for future release. Technus decided that he needed an upgrade and took over the whole thing. Danny had been able to take him down with the usage of the sprinkler system
The second day, he battled against Skulker who wanted to test out some new methods he thought up. The new tactics had the fight drag on and Danny really just wanted it to end
The third day was Box Ghost Day. Something Day started calling the days when the Box ghost would constantly come out of the ghost zone and bug a bunch of people. Danny still couldn't figure out how he was able to get out of the ghost zone so many times. Even when the portal was closed.
Today was as mentioned before. A bunch of ghost animals had begun to rampage through the streets and he had to clean up the mess.
And that's not mentioning his other responsibilities
Danny had finished catching the last one about twenty minutes ago and was now flying home. "I just want to fall on my bed….and just…..zzzzz." He was so tired that he had fallen asleep while flying. He remained in the air as he was now sleep-flying.
*bam*
Danny shot open his eyes as he flew into a billboard. "Ow." he rubbed his head as he gave a tired glare at the offending sign.
"Wow, Babypop. Must have been a fun night."
Danny turned around to see Ember sitting on her floating guitar a dozen feet away as her legs dangled off the side. He groaned at the sight. "Ember, can't we fight some other time? I really really really would like to just sleep right now."
Ember smirked as she could see that if they fought right now, she would likely get a few good hits in before he came out from nowhere and win. But she raised her hands in mock surrender. "Easy Babypop, I ain't here to fight. I'm just having a midnight stroll before I head off on a tour around the world." She gave a wicked smirk as she knew that Danny would not like the idea of her going off to other parts of the world where he wouldn't be able to stop her in time before she hypnotized her audience.
Danny gave a tired glare before he slowly dropped to the ground, laning on his feet. "Ember, I really don't have the energy to even come up with witty banter to start the fight."
Ember's smirk dropped as she lowered herself to the ground in front of him. She could see the bags under his eyes and he hadn't looked this disheveled since he first started out. "Man, you really out of it aren't ya?"
Danny mumbled a confirmation as he tried to fight off sleep. Even his ghost energy was running low and that was what usually helped him in staying up late. He was in no condition to fight anymore.
Ember looked him over for another few seconds before she shook her head. "Hate to say it, Babypop, but you look like you skipped the party and went straight to the hangover." Thinking about what she could do to help, she snapped her fingers when she got an idea. "You know what you need; a vacation."
The relationship between Ember and Danny had gotten much better after so many fights. She found that she rather enjoyed battling against Danny and exchanging banter with him. So much so that she now comes out of the ghost zone more to have a fight with him and vent any frustration she had. Not their fights were more a game to see how long it would last.
Danny looked up at Ember with a raised eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"
Ember rolled her eyes before she flicked him on the forehead. "Babypop, you are close to collapsing from just standing here. And as a Rockstar, I know how a person can run themselves to the point of dying." She smirked at the deadpan expression he gave her. And she knew it wasn't from his exhaustion.
"Leave the puns to me."
"I would but you're dead on your feet."
Danny groaned as he knew that she was doing this on purpose. "Was there a point you were trying to make?!" He didn't mean to be snappy at Ember but she was right. He was dead on his feet. Forget the pun.
Ember would have retaliated to his tone but she knew so well how cranky a person can get.
Don't wake her up too early. She will make sure that you understand how a concussion feels when hit with a guitar. "Hang on." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a scrap of paper and a pen. She looked at what was written on it and rolled her eyes. She scratched out the phone number that was on it as this was something she got from one of her fans who slipped it under the door of one of the dressing rooms that she used when she went to do a concert somewhere at some point. She didn't even try to remember as she gets a bunch of these every time she does one. The only reason she keeps these is so she could have free paper to write reminders or notes to use. She looked up in thought before she snapped her fingers and wrote down what she wanted to write. Once done, she handed it to Danny who took it tentatively.
Danny looked at the thing that was written on it. He looked up at her with a questioning look.
"You need a break, Babypop. And you should head there in order to get away from it all." She gestured at the paper he had in his hands.
Danny looked at the paper and saw that it was a set of coordinates. He then looked up at Ember and had a teasing smirk. "Didn't know you even knew how to use coordinates."
Ember crossed her arms as she glared at him. "When did I ever give you the impression that I was stupid?"
"Every time you come here to fight me."
Ember scoffed. "At this point, you are the best way to vent out stress. Why pay for a gym when I can just get a workout trading blows with ya?"
Danny sighed as he should have figured that was the reason she kept coming to fight him. "Well, thanks ember but I can't just up and leave my town since I still have school and…" he winced again when he felt her flick his forehead again.
"You can miss a couple of days of school since you tend to miss a lot right now anyway. Not only that but it is Friday so you can add the weekend to it. As for protecting the town, I can spread the word that you are taking a break. I know that most of the ghosts will wait till you get back since they only come here mostly to just fight against ya. Well…. Some of the times"
Danny groaned at that. Sure, he liked the idea that the town would be safe if he wasn't around but he hated the fact that he was one of the reasons they came here. He looked back at the piece of paper and thought about himself taking a break. It was so appealing and he really needed it. But then again, he knew that he would have a bunch to do when he got back. 'But then again, how is that any different from any other time.' he smiled as he made his choice. He looked at Ember and nodded. "Thanks for this, Ember."
Ember smirked as she put her hands on her hips. "Yeah, but know that you owe me, big time for this." with that she teleported away in a swirl of blue flames before he could say anything.
Danny facepalmed as he should have seen that coming. And she didn't just say that as banter. He knew for a fact that Ember expected that favor to be paid. "Figures." With that he flew off back home.
~early next morning~
"so, explain to me again why you are going to who knows where on the advice from Ember of all people?" was Jazz's harsh question as she tapped her foot and stared at Danny's back as he packed up his clothes in a small traveling bag.
Danny packed another set of clothing into his bag before he looked over his shoulder at his sister. "Because she brought up some good points. I need a break and this is the best time for me to do it."
The reason this would be the best time to do this was that it was a three-day weekend, so he had no school on Monday. And his parents were out of town on some ghost convention and they won't be back for another week.
Jazz was still not convinced. "How do you know this isn't some sort of trap?"
Danny closed his traveling bag before he looked at his sister. "Jazz, do you really think Ember of all people, would come up with a trap like this? Skulker is the most likely to set up some sort of trap and not even he would try a trap this obvious."
Jazz had to concede with that logic as Ghost X, AKA: Skulker, is the only one that would do that. "Ok, but why can't you just take a break here or in the ghost zone."
Danny gave his sister a deadpan look. "Jazz, where would I get any peace if I stay in Amity Park and why would you think I would find any peace in the Ghost zone?"
Jazz winced as she realized how dumb her question was. Staying here as either Fenton or Phantom would have him hounded for different reasons. If he went anywhere in amity as a human, then he would most likely be bothered by Dash and his lackeys. If he went around as Phantom, then it would be either ghosts, the annoying Guys in white, or his ever-growing phan club led by Paulina. "Ok, dumb question. Do you know where the place even is?"
Danny shrugged. "Haven't checked yet. I'm kinda just using this as an excuse to just go somewhere."
Jazz rolled her eyes before she moved to his computer and used an online GPS to look up where the place was. Punching in the coordinates, her eyes widened at where it was. "Transylvania?!"
Danny raised an eyebrow at that. He chuckled as he gestured with his hands. "From ghosts to vampires. Blah blah blah." He then thought about that and said. "Better not tell Sam. She would kill me if I went to the goth capital of the planet."
"Did you tell Sam and Tucker you would be out of town for the next few days?"
Danny nodded. "Yeah, called them both that I would be taking a vacation and that they would have to handle anything that comes up."
"What if Vlad tries something?"
Danny grimaced at that. "The Fruitloop has been quiet for a while now but I don't think he'll hatch any scheme while I'm gone. Most of his plans have something to do with me and at this point, he hasn't come up what anything that would be overly bad." he paused as he thought about what his nemesis could possibly do "unless he tries to unleash Pariah Dark again but not even Vlad would do something that stupid again." he looked to his sister with a reassuring smile. "Trust me, the worst thing you will have to deal with would be the Box ghost and no, I am not going to call him the 'crate creep'."
Jazz shook her head with a smile on her face. "Are you taking the Fenton jet or speeder?"
Danny thought about it before he shook his head. "Nah, I'm not going to take any of the ghost equipment with me apart from the Thermos and I'll fly there on my own."
Now it was Jazz's turn to stare at him as if he was an idiot. "Danny, do you know how far away it is from here?"
Danny looked at her, waiting for her to give him the answer.
"It's about five thousand miles from here. If you fly all the way there with your own power, it will take you forever."
Danny thought about it before shrugging. "At most, it would take me a whole day. Though I'm not really sure how fast I am now."
Jazz tilted her head as she asked. "How fast are you now?"
Danny looked up in thought before shrugging. "Last we checked, my fastest was 243 miles per hour. But that was a while ago and I've gotten stronger and faster since then. If I only focus on flying, I won't have to take many breaks."
Jazz was still not convinced
Danny shrugged. "Jazz, the flight will still be the most strenuous thing I'll be doing on this trip. It is a vacation and you know I can handle the long trip."
Jazz gave a sigh of defeat before nodding. "Alright, little brother. Just make sure you don't overdo it and call me when you take a break. And I expect you to take multiple breaks while flying."
Danny nodded as he threw his bag on his shoulder before he transformed into his ghost form. "Take care of the town while I'm off relaxing"
Jazz nodded as she hugged him before she watched him fly through the ceiling.
Danny floated high in the air before he pulled out his phone and pressed a few keys into it. Soon the screen changed into a large map with his position on it. Looking at the direction he needed to go, he sighed before he put his phone away and flew off at high speeds towards Transylvania.
~night~
Danny was still flying towards the coordinates that Ember gave him and looking at the map on his phone, he could tell that he was almost there. He took a couple of breaks just to check to see if he was going in the right direction. Thankfully when he called Jazz, she said that the only thing that happened when he left was that the Box Ghost came out to "wreak havoc".
Now he saw that he was closing in on the spot. He looked down to see that he was flying over a very creepy forest. If he wasn't so sure he was in the human world, he would have thought that he was in one of the forested areas in the Ghost Zone. He was flying through a thick fog, causing him to slow down his flight in case there was a cliff wall or tall tree in the way. Looking back at his phone, he smiled. "Ok, I should see the place just….about….now." he broke through the fog to see a large castle sitting in the middle of a massive lake. He was a little impressed at the sight but it wasn't the most impressive thing he had seen before. Though it was the cleanest and well-kept castle he had seen. "Dora's castle is a bit more impressive. Not to mention...nope! I'm here to get away from any of the ghost stuff. but I wonder who lives here? Must be a friend of Ember's." he sighed as he figured that it meant that the person who lived here was a ghost as well. But he shrugged and looked down to see that there was a bridge that led into the castle. Floating down, he chose to be polite and go through the main entrance.
Mavis Dracula was at the moment manning the front desk since the zombie bellmen were working on something that her dad needed them to do with her father supervising them. There were a few still here in the font lobby but they were doing their own thing. This gave her time to herself and gave her the chance to think over how she would convince her dad to let her out into the world. She had been thinking about this for the last few nights. Her birthday was coming up in the next two nights and it was the best chance she was going to get. Her father had told her that when she reached 118, she would be able to go out on her own into the human world. But she knew her father and knew that he would most likely try and come up with some way for her to stay in the hotel. 'I know! I could bring up the fact that he gave me his word about letting me go see the world. Well, he did give his word so it's not lying. Now how am I going to say it?' she was bright out of her thoughts when she noticed movement at the rotating front doors. 'Didn't expect anyone to show up now. Dad said that no one would show up till tomorrow. Maybe some decided to come early.' She looked up and was surprised to see that it was someone who looked her age.
Danny was surprised to see that the front doors were rotating doors as you would see in casinos or hotels. But the second he stepped foot into the castle, two things happened
The first was that he realized that it was a hotel as he was now inside a well-decorated lobby that he had seen before in one of his family trips.
The second was that his ghost sense went off.
On instinct, he got into a defensive stance as he was getting ready for any sort of surprise attack. But after a few seconds of nothing happening, he relaxed a bit. 'Ember told me about this place so there would most likely be a ghost here. But I never expected a hotel.' He looked around the room as he appreciated the look of the place. However, he froze when his eyes landed on what could only be called zombies in bellhop uniforms working around the lobby. 'Uuuuhhhh….?' he stood there staring at them for a few seconds and tensed when he saw some of them look in his direction. He was ready to fly out of the way if they attacked him but he ended up blinking at how they just turned back to their job. 'Oooookkkkaaaayyyy….'
He was about to move till he heard some cackling in the air and looked up in time to see a trio of sickly green…...ugly… women flying on brooms….while carrying cleaning products. He blinked again when he heard them talk
"We finished cleaning the rooms on the first floor and still have time to spare. You, ladies, want to grab a wolfsbane broosky before our next shift?"
"As long as you don't take the cauldron all to yourself this time."
"Last one there pays the pot!"
With that, the three left the lobby while cackling.
Danny tilted his head. 'Ok, Ember, where the hell did you send me?'
"Welcome to Hotel Transylvania."
Danny jumped a bit at the sudden voice and looked to his right to see a pretty girl standing behind the front desk. He didn't even realize he walked towards the desk as he was too surprised. "Oh uh, thanks." Danny thought about what he should do till he figured that if Ember sent him here, he might as well spend his vacation here. Besides this wasn't even the scariest thing he had seen before. "Do you have any rooms available?"
Mavis remembered the required question for someone coming in. "Do you have a reservation?"
Danny shook his head. "Nope, I'm a walk-in since a friend of mine recommended I come here in order to take a vacation."
"Alright, hang on." Mavis looked at the book that was laid on the desk in front of her and saw that many of the rooms were already reserved but there were still a few that were free. "You're in luck. There are a few rooms that still haven't been reserved. Normally, at this time, the rooms would all be taken for the party coming up in a couple of days."
Danny tilted his head. "Party? Didn't know I made it for something like that."
"Really? Well, you did say that you were told to come here by a friend so I guess my dad didn't send the invite your way." She grabbed a crow pen (quill pen with a crow feather) and looked at Danny. "Ok, so a room for one?" seeing him nod she looked at the list and then asked. "So what kind of monster are you? Werewolf? Siren?" 'Maybe a vampire? Never met another vampire before. Apart from my family.'
The question caught Danny off guard. 'Monster? Wait…' He looked behind him to see the zombies roaming the lobby and then thought about the three…. Witches from before. 'Wow….just….wow. Did Ember send me to a …...hotel for monsters? WOAH! Monsters are real! Sam is so going so flip!' Danny came back to reality as he saw the girl waiting for him to answer. "Oh uh, I'm a ghost."
Mavis' eyes widened a bit "Really?" she looked him up and down in a bit of confusion. "Never seen a ghost like you before. Actually…. I've never seen a ghost before."
Danny thought that was odd but he figured that he was just so used to seeing ghosts that he never thought that someone wouldn't have seen one before. And for a hotel for monsters that just made it more surprising. He smiled as he gave a mock bow. "Well, it is my honor to be the first ghost to make your acquaintance."
Mavis giggled at this as she responded. "Well, the pleasure is all mine. Now I'm going to need your name to put into the roster."
Danny chuckled at his silly act before answering. "Danny, Danny Phantom,"
Mavis smiled as she wrote it down. "Little on the nose on the name."
Danny never lost his smile as he shrugged. "I think it's a good name."
"Well, my name is Mavis. Nice to meet you, Danny." Mavis grabbed a key for the room she set him up in and gave it to him. "I'll have one of the zombies take you to your room."
It was then that Danny realized something. "Hey wait, how much is this going to cost?"
Mavis smiled at Dany as she answered. "Oh at this time, the rooms are free. Since my dad wants as many people here for the party, the room's price is removed but most rooms still need to be reserved. Like I said before, you are lucky to come at this time."
Danny smiled back as he did consider himself lucky. He just got a room for free in a hotel he was sure very few humans ever got a chance to experience.
Mavis waved over one of the zombies and gave him the instructions to lead Danny to his room.
Danny eyed the zombie and finally understood why his ghost sense had gone off. It was small but the zombie seemed to tease his ghost sense and with the number of zombies in the lobby, he figured that the combined presence of all of them had been what triggered it. He began to follow the zombie at an agonizingly slow pace before he turned around and waved at Mavis. "See around, Mavis."
"See ya, Danny. Hope you get to stay for the party."
Danny nodded. "if it is in a few days, I'll be here." he then turned around and followed the zombie
Mavis watched him leave before she sat in a chair. "He's nice. I should ask him to hang out tomorrow night. I never get the chance to hang out with anyone my age nowadays."
After a few minutes passed, her father flew into the lobby before landing next to her. "I'm back, Mavey wavey! Anything interesting happen while I was gone?" he didn't expect her to say anything as he knew that at the moment no one would come in and he would know where she was when he came back. He was surprised when she looked at him and nodded
Mavis pointed at the roster for guests as she said. "Yeah, we had a guest come in a few minutes before you came back."
Dracula was surprised to hear that someone came in since he wasn't expecting any guests to come in since all of the monsters coming won't be here for another couple of days. "Really? Someone, we know?"
Mavis shook her head. "Nope. he said a friend recommended the hotel to him and he chose to come here for his vacation."
"Well, he came at a good time since I know we have a few rooms available and they are free." he moved over and picked up the roster so he would know where the guest was in case something was needed. He prided himself in keeping this in order in his hotel and knowing where specific guests are so he would make sure that every guest was enjoying their stay. "What room is he in and what kind of monster is he?"
Mavis thought about the room number and answered. "Room 4304. And he said he was a ghost."
This caught Dracula by surprise. "A 'ghost'?"
Mavis was confused by his reaction. "Something wrong?"
Dracula shook his head as he looked at the roster and found the mentioned guest. "Nothing is wrong, Honey bat. It is just that we have never had a ghost as a guest before and I haven't seen a ghost in centuries. Not since…." he paused here as he remembered one of the dark times many centuries ago. A certain king came to mind and he withheld a shiver at the tyrant. "Well, it is good to see a ghost after so long. I will meet up with him tomorrow night as the sun will be coming up soon. Speaking of which, you should head to bed soon."
Mavis nodded as she transformed into a bat and flew up before pausing, flying back, and kissing her father on the cheek. "Good morning, dad."
"Sleep well, Mavey wavey." he watched her leave before looking back at the roster. "'Danny Phantom'. Well, I shall meet him tomorrow night and see if there is anything he would need. Might help out if he can offer some advice on how to entertain a ghostly guest." He put the roster down and moved away from the desk as one of the zombies he had supervised in the construction of the fake town came in and took the position.
~with Danny~
Danny nodded his thanks to the zombie and had to hold back a chuckle at the tip of the hat the zombie gave. He was about to close the door when a voice spoke up.
"Hmm, got a newcomer here. Well, hope you enjoy your stay at the hotel."
Danny stared at the shrunken head that was hanging on the door before he nodded. "Uh thanks." he then closed the door, glad that the shrunken head was on the outside of the door. He looked around the room and was really impressed by the luxurious room. He moved over to the bed and put his bag down before he stretched his arms in the air and transformed back into his human form. "Man, I may have said I would be alright flying all the way here but I am tired from flying all the way here." he plopped onto the bed and turned to look at the ceiling. "Hotel Transylvania; A hotel for monsters. Not the weirdest thing I've heard but it is up there." he closed his eyes as he was feeling his consciousness slipping. As he was close to falling asleep he had one last thought. "I didn't even ask what kind of monster Mavis was." He then fell asleep, not knowing what to expect from this vacation.
End of chapter
Ok, the reason I made this is because I was reading a few other Danny Phantom X hotel Transylvania fics and I realized, they are all the same. I wanted to try and make one a bit more unique so I came up with the idea of Ember recommending the hotel to him.
Now just because ghosts haven't been to the hotel, doesn't mean they don't know about it
As for the no zing thing, I want to change it a bit. The pairing is still going to be Danny X Mavis but I want to try and change it from the love at first sight thing that the movie has.
Since I don't remember any ghosts being seen in the movies, I made it so that ghosts haven't gone to the hotel at all but Dracula knows about them.
As for Danny not reacting harshly at the zombies, or witches. Overall they aren't that surprising since Danny had fought against some powerful and larger beings. And the other monsters haven't arrived yet.
As for Dany's flight speed. In season 1 episode 17: Maternal Instincts, it was said that Danny's top speed was 112 MPH. Since this is much later in the Danny Phantom series I figured that I could triple his speed since he is many times stronger than when he started. So I did the mat and since he has a speed of around 300 mph, it would take about 17 hours or so to get to Transylvania from Illinois. That is where I am putting Amity Park since there is no set location for it.
I don't think there will be much action in this fic but who knows?
and I don't think I will add Johnny. I like the guy but I don't think I can add him in this with the way I plan to change things
Flames will be ignored.
