Author's Note: Welcome to Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Shuffled.

So... You've probably seen this story posted on here before, and that's because I've published and deleted it a couple of times. But, I've got just about everything planned out, so I will NOT delete the story this time, I promise!

Now, I have a confession to make: this cast isn't truly "shuffled". As in, I didn't use a random generator to pick characters, I hope this cast is still jumbled enough for you to keep on reading.

Okay, one last thing:

WARNING! This story contains violence, death, gore, and possible sexual themes! Please proceed with caution!

With that, let's begin!

In a dark classroom, a single light flickered on to reveal a curious sight: a small bear sitting on a desk; it was half-white and half-black, sporting a jagged red eye and sinister grin on the latter side of its face.

The bear was staring at a dark-haired man tied up to a chair in the front of the room, blindfolded. He struggled against the ropes, but to no avail.

The bear stared at this sight for a moment, almost amused by the patheticness of it all. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, it pulled out a gavel and raised it high into the air before slamming it down onto the large red button in front of it.

A large metal contraption suddenly appeared behind the man and surrounded him; all the while, he was screaming with pure and utter despair. When the contraption sealed him in completely, it was revealed to be a rocketship, with the face of the bear at the top.

Execution - Blast Off!

The ship's lights came on and it began to rapidly spin in place. Then, it launched through the ceiling and broke through floors upon floors before eventually breaking the surface. Any last words or noises by the man were effectively drowned out by the destruction the ship left in its wake.

It kept going up, up, and up, as it broke through the stratosphere and beyond. The moon and stars themselves seemed to be witnessing this atrocity as the ship flipped over and fell back down, gaining more and more speed before crashing straight into the classroom.

The door to the ship slowly opened, creaking ominously. However, nothing was in there except an empty chairat least, until a pile of bones fell from the ceiling.

A somber silence overtook the room for a moment. Then, the smallest chuckle could be heard. It grew louder and louder until it became akin to that of a crazed maniac.

The bear, who had miraculously survived, doubled over in laughter before the dust finished clearing.

The massive high school towered over all the other buildings in the bustling urban area. It was like the school stood at the center of the entire world.

It brought in top students from every field imaginable. They say that if you come here and manage to graduate, you'd be set for life. With hundreds of years of tradition, it sent the cream of the crop into the work force every year. It was built to raise hope in the nation's future, which made "Hope's Peak" a pretty fitting name.

There were two requirements you needed to meet in order to attend this school: one, you had to already be attending high school. And two, you had to be the very best at what you do. In short, no ordinary student could enroll here. The only way in was if you were scouted by the school itself.

And standing there, at the gate of the ultimate school filled with the ultimate students...

...was Mikan Tsumiki.

Mikan was...an interesting person, to say the least.

Between her constant apologizing, frequent crying, and general awkwardness... Well, people weren't exactly eager to be around her. She couldn't say that she was used to those reactions, though...

So, you could probably her surprise when she got an acceptance letter from the Hope's Peak Academy:

"Every year, we go and scout potential students to attend our school. As a result, you have been selected, and we invite you to join us as the Ultimate Nurse."

...Well, the "Ultimate Nurse" part wasn't all that surprising, actually. She'd had grown a good amount of knowledge in the medical field throughout her years thanks to having to patch her herself up a lot as a child.

And now, as she stood in front of the humongous school, Mikan couldn't help but wonder if someone like her would even survive in a place like this. It had this overwhelming presence, like it was trying to swallow her whole...

Hope's Peak only invited students who were the truly elite in their field. It was such a popular topic, in fact, that there were threads online dedicated to talking about the school's attendees. So, to prepare, Mikan had looked up some of the those threads.

For example, one incoming student was the "Ultimate Cook". Mikan could only assume that his was a student who were well-known for his culinary prowess.

There was also the "Ultimate Tennis Pro." Apparently, he had participated in a tennis match against the mafia and won.

Then there was the "Ultimate Fashionista." She's been on the cover of tons of fashion magazines. Basically, she was the type of person every girl envied—Mikan, included.

Oh, and they had mentioned the "Ultimate Biker Gang Leader." The scary thing was, he was the de facto leader of every biker gang in Japan. Gangs everywhere loved the guy.

On top of that, there was the Ultimate Soldier, the Ultimate Aikido Master, the Ultimate Traditional Dancer, The Ultimate Photographer, the Ultimate Astronaut, the Ultimate Clairvoyant, and then some. It was the country's finest, top to bottom.

But, there was something Mikan couldn't stop thinking about. You see, there were a few students whom she couldn't find any info on, no matter how much she looked.

She didn't want to be nosy, but, it was definitely weird... Oh well. She'd probably learn what who were once she met them.

But, actually standing there in front of the school... Mikan started to feel lost, like she didn't belong there. She could feel myself losing her nerve.

Then, Mikan realized—this would be a new start for her.

Mikan's lips curled into a hopeful smile. Yeah, this would be a new start. She'd be free from all of the bullies back at home, and maybe even make some friends this time around!

That notion encouraged Mikan more than anything. And so, with a tiny bit more confidence than she had before, she took her first step towards the main hall.

She stepped inside of the spacious hall, taken back by the elegance of it all.

However, there was a notable lack of people, and Mikan couldn't help but break out into a sweat over it. This was where they're supposed to meet, right?

She checked the acceptance letter she had carefully tucked away into her apron. Yep, and it was also supposed to start at 8 AM.

Mikan glanced at a clock in the corner. It read 7:10 AM. The meeting didn't start until another fifty minutes.

Crap. Mikan got so wound up, she got here way too early.

Mikan awkwardly rubbed her arm as she glanced around. Well, she still had plenty of time before the meeting. Maybe she should take a look around the school? She was a student here now, so there shouldn't be any problem with her having a look around, right?

It would kill some time, if nothing else. With that goal in mind, Mikan began to submerge herself into her new beginning. At least, that's what she was hoping for.

But the instant she took that step forward, her view became warped, twisted. Spinning, mixing, melting away, then spinning again... Mikan could feel falling, falling, falling into a dark abyss, and in the next moment...

Everything went black.

And that was how it all began. How life as Mikan knew it came to an end. At that point she should have realized... The reason she was accepted into this school...

It was so she could experience ultimate despair.
