This is my first time writing a fanfiction. I put a great deal of effort in and I hope you enjoy it. This first chapter is a short prologue that introduces my characters (don't worry, there won't be many new people in this story outside of this). This story while being a MHA fanfiction takes an element from Naruto. It is assumed you have basic knowledge of MHA.

Chapter One: Prologue
In a world, where 80% of the population has a superhuman ability, called a "Quirk", people with the title "Hero" battle those labelled "Villains". Villains are people who use their quirks to break the law and cause injury. The streets looked like scenes from comic books. In such a society, lawmakers and governments had a difficult time maintaining power. In order to do this, governments created organizations tasked with commissioning people to battle villains using their quirks. One such managing organization, operating in Japan, is known as the Hero Public Safety Commission. The HPSC's primary purpose was to outline how heroes were allowed to use their quirks, and controlling who became a hero. The hardworking people at the HPSC tirelessly did their job to keep law and order in Japan.
One such man, Yokumiru Mera, sits at his desk. Yokumiru is the man in charge of provisional hero licensing exams, and he just finished testing a new round of prospective heroes. Yokumiru is absolutely exhausted, and is about to finally get a vacation with his family. Dryly saying his goodbyes as he leaves the office, he briskly makes his way to the train to get home, just like any other day. Today in particular though, he internally muses that he can still see the sun outside, as usually he instead sees the stars on his trip home. Upon arriving home, his wife, a beautiful woman with jet black hair and black eyes, greets her husband at the door.
"Yoku!" exclaims Kaori. She practically jumps on him, followed by his two sons.
"Papa!" exclaim two young, black haired children.
Yokumiru looks down to see his two young sons, Ichiro and Kenji. Despite them not being the same age, they physically look like exact clones of each other. Yokumiru pulls his family into a hug as he greets them.
"It's good to finally be home" he says softly.
His family has been expecting him for a while now. It's rare for him to come home at a reasonable hour and when he does, he is always exhausted. It's ironic, with his quirk. His quirk, called "Wakefulness", allows him to get about half the amount of sleep a normal person requires. Despite this, he is chronically sleep deprived.
His family has been planning for months a trip to their favourite campground, a good outing for the Mera family to spend some time together. Ichiro, the older son, exclaimed that he and Kenji had already packed the car.
"Well, then what are we waiting for?" asked Yokumiru.
Him and his family then entered the car, and began driving. This outing was a classic yearly tradition for their family. It was a relatively short drive, only about an hour., during which Ichiro and Kenji kept themselves entertained in the back by talking with each other, as Kaori got a chance to speak to her husband. Despite the fact that she wasn't driving, she always kept a close eye on the road. This apprehensive behaviour was a habit from her days as a pro hero, although she had been retired for just over seven years now. Her quirk lets her see a couple seconds into the future and whenever she does her eyes turn pink. She does this whenever she sees a car driving oddly. They talk about their plans for the week, and Yokumiru is smiling the whole time. He loves spending time with his happy family, and as he has this thought he is saddened by the amount of time his job takes up. He quickly brushes it to the side as they arrive and then the family begins unpacking the car.
Ichiro and Kenji quickly duck into their tent, and sit talking with each other. Ichiro is showing off his quirk, and Kenji watches in awe.
"I can't wait until I get mine!" says the boy loudly with excitement.
Ichiro's quirk, like his mother's, is based in his eyes. When using it, his eyes turn a deep red, with small pinwheel-like black markings. To his current understanding, it allows him to predict the movements of things around him.
"Oh settle down boys, the trip just started!" smiled their mother as she poked her head into the tent. Their boys took after her, both also with black eyes.
Ichiro and Kenji, bursting with energy and wanting to do something, get permission from their mom to go explore the forest. The brothers talk with each other, as they walk down the trail. Kenji, reaching the age where he will soon get his quirk, bombards his brother with questions about quirks.
His brother talks about his quirk, and tells Kenji that he wants to be a Hero just like his mom. Kenji listens in awe at the confidence of his older brother. While he likes to think that he is outgoing, his brother's vibrance and confidence is on another level. Suddenly though, Kenji is snapped out of his thoughts as he hears a rumbling noise.
"Do you hear anything?" he asks. Ichiro initially looks puzzled, until he hears the same rumbling.
"It sounds like a construction site," he replied. He knows this answer makes no sense though, as they are in the middle of a forest.
Suddenly a wave of dust flashes past the brothers, and Ichiro in a moment of panic activates his quirk to get a handle on the situation, his eyes turning deep red. Realizing his predicament causes him to go numb while the sound gets louder and louder. He realized that they were in the middle of a mudslide. Before Ichiro can warn his brother, they get hit with a wave of dirt and other forest debris. Their whole world goes black.
Kenji's eyes flutter open to bright lights. He hears beeping noises of a heartbeat monitor as he notices it is connected to him. Disoriented, he tries to perk up and look around, but he quickly feels an immense pain in his chest which forces him back down onto his bed. Looking at his body, he notices a tube with liquid fixed to his arm, and all sorts of wires and bandages on his chest. He cocks his head from side to side, taking in his surroundings. Scared, a tear falls from his face as he realizes he is alone in an unfamiliar environment. Luckily for him though, a nurse walks into his room and drops his clipboard in awe.
Quickly his family is informed that he is awake via phone. Kenji is overwhelmed as a doctor is rushed into his room. He asks the doctor what is going on, and he replies;
"Kid, you've been asleep for two months."
Kenji's stomach drops, as he processes this information. He notices a mirror in the room, and he doesn't recognize himself. His hair has grown down to almost his shoulders, and he notices a faint scar on his neck that goes down into his shirt.
Kaori soon arrives at the hospital, and she pulls her son into a hug. With tear filled eyes, she tells her son how much she loves him. Once the initial hello had subsided, Kenji is able to ask some questions. He is informed that he was rescued unconscious from a mudslide, and that the doctors expected that he wouldn't wake up, considering he had been asleep for so long. He was about to next ask where his Dad was, before realizing that he was probably at work. Right after that he inquires;
"Where is Ichiro?"
Kaori freezes over completely and looks at the floor. She then quietly says "He wasn't found".
"No…" Kenji whispers in denial.
For the second time today, Kenji found himself in a panic. His whole world has been shaken.
With tears streaming down his eyes, he is forced to close them. Staring into pure black Kenji is utterly in disbelief. From his point of view, he was just at the campsite, and now he has to come to terms with the fact that his brother is most likely dead, and he just came out of a life threatening coma.
With the mirror still in view he opened his eyes, to notice his eyes were dark red. Initially believing it was because of the tears, his thoughts are interrupted by his mother.
"Kenji, your eyes… They look just like your brother's…"
Kenji was no longer quirkless.

What do you guys think? I know this was a bit of a short information dump that kinda sped along, but I wanted to simply create the setting for the story, which I hope was in a fast manner. In the next chapter you'll see a time skip to present day and a closer synchronization to the MHA storyline, with the story mainly from the POV of Kenji. If you have any feedback, let me know. This has been your friend BestBea, signing off this chapter.
