Flowey was sulking in the Ruins, next to the flowerbed where that human had fallen. His mind was swimming. He had seen… himself. It didn't make sense. He knew who he was. He was Asriel Dreemurr, Prince of the Underground and he had seen a perfect reflection of that. And what's more, that Asriel acted just like he used to.

He didn't understand. How were there two of him? There should only be one, and he was the real Asriel, right? He was the true prince, right? He was Chara's best friend… right?

Flowey was confused. He thought he was Asriel, alive again, but that other Monster believed the same thing, apparently. How? How was it possible? And which of them was the real one? Flowey didn't know and he couldn't figure it out.

He looked up at the cavern's ceiling where a single ray of light illuminated the flowerbed. Why wasn't the human trying to leave? Why did they want to stay down here? When he had absorbed those Souls, he had felt something, the brush of their memories, but those were fading, and he wasn't able to piece any of it together. Why come down here? Why stay? What did they want? He didn't know if he was ever going to get an answer and there wasn't a way to reverse time now.

Without those Souls, Flowey's Determination was weaker than Frisk's. They had regained control of the timeline when Flowey lost the Souls. Which meant that the only way to overpower Frisk was with the Souls they had absorbed, but he was never going to find out where they were now.

What should he do? Was there anything he even could do? He was just one flower, against a former human with control over time and the protection of the Royal family. But Flowey was still a prince, sort of. What was he now? What was his relation to Asriel? Was he just a copy or Asriel reincarnated? The presence of a second Asriel seemed to dispute that, but if not a reincarnation and not a copy, then was he just an imitation? He didn't have a Soul and he didn't act like Asriel used to. Maybe that's all he was. A false Asriel that didn't look or sound or even think like the original.

That hurt Flowey a lot to think about. No, it couldn't be that way! He was the real Asriel! And he'd find a way to prove it. Someday, somehow, he was going to show that cheap copy that it was the false one and that he, Flowey, was the genuine article. Someday, he was going to prove it. Someday…

To be continued…

A/N I know one of the biggest questions people have had coming out of Divine Soul was who is Flowey? This answers that, yes, he is a reincarnation of Asriel.
