One World: Many Souls
Chapter 31: Seeing Double
Angel's Point of View:
"Alphys? I can hold him for a minute if you need."
"O-oh! T-thank you, Angel. S-sorry about that."
I giggled lightly at the fellow mother beside me. "It's not any trouble Alphys. I'm just sitting here resting. Frisk and Lilly have the kids while Sans, Undyne and Papyrus take care of things for us. It's the least I can do. You only just got done giving birth three days ago and you're already trying to get back into it!"
That caused my friend to give me a light scowl. "S-says the woman w-who w-went to work immediately a-after the birth of her f-first set of twins."
A snort escaped me. "You did the same thing with Zakhar. And it's no different now that your adorable Maxim is here."
Said little baby sat in my arms so soundly at the moment. He had just been fed by his mother and was resting against my warm body wrapped in blankets. As typical of those of the monster species, Alphys was only pregnant for seven months before giving birth. I wasn't sure of the scientific reasons behind it, but Papyrus had dealt with the same thing.
Maxim von Undying was the second born to Alphys and Undyne. Their little one was much stockier then their first born. Where Zakhar was slim and fast, Maxim had a lot more bulk to him and seemed to share more physical traits with the mother who gave birth to him. Maxim was a lizard like Alphys. His head and body were shaped like hers with a build that will one day be able to take down anything in his way, and like Alphys he had freckles on his face.
But the most astounding thing we saw with him was his color. His coloring was similar to Undyne. Maxim carried the lovely shade of a bright royal blue color with hints of purple into his scales. His freckles were a dark black color. Standing out very stark like against his scales. The two boys were just as similar looking as they were different to their mothers.
Alphys had only given birth three days prior and had just been taken off of bed rest. She wasn't doing much yet besides caring for her youngest and keeping an eye on me. After the last mishap with my first-time giving birth, we wanted to be prepared no matter what.
My due date had been yesterday. I was being watched and cared for at Alphys' house with many friends and family over to help where they could while I waddled around and rested. I wouldn't admit it, but my ankles killed after I got into the last three months of my most recent pregnancy. Being off of them and being forced to rest was nice. I spent my time with friends and family, and that meant the world to me.
I was also grateful for everyone to be nearby in case what happened last time would happen again. My nerves still just had no feeling to them and with that in mind, it made me worried that if I was on my own, something bad could happen to the little ones.
It was the last thing I wanted…
Was it strange that every time I went to the bathroom I had to check from there on if I was crowning? It was a serious fear I had when I had been two weeks late with my first twins and didn't even know I was giving birth during my birthday party…
"A-anyway!" Alphys drew back my attention while she moved around the hospital room she had crafted in her own lab for those that were dear friends who needed the help. Of course, that was Frisk and I more often than not in most recent years as we adapted back to the surface… "H-how are you feeling?"
"Right now?" I honestly shrugged at the smaller woman. "I feel fine. But we both know that it's going to happen when we least expect it."
"T-true… y-you didn't h-have much feeling back then besides t-the tired feeling of y-your m-muscles working…" The doctor hummed lightly while she reached over to the medical chart she had between her own notes and that of a doctor she called in often to assist us.
The doctor that was called in was away for the day. Dr. Olivia Havarti was an excellent doctor. She often made house calls for those of the higher class. She was the first of the human doctors to approach Asgore, Toriel and Alphys to see about leaning about monster's health and reproduction, as well as how they raise their young ones. Being one of the first doctors to openly join the community and be so willing to work with them, it softened my heart to ask her to see if she would look after my children as well. Being half human, half skeleton, it intrigued her and she wanted to see how they grew differently.
Thus, she ended up becoming a primary care doctor for pediatrics and soon to be mothers. A midwife as well to those that needed it. With monsters getting out into the world, and they were beginning to merge with the human society, we would have more mixed races before long such as our children. Having people like her around was important.
"When did Olivia say she'd get back?"
"O-oh? U-um… t-this afternoon. I-I think." Alphys paused as she thought back. "B-bernie's girl, Addie, s-she w-went into labor l-last night a-and was struggling s-still this morning. S-she was called i-in for help."
"I forgot her due date was coming up so soon!" With a hand to my mouth, I pulled out my phone. "I probably should message Bernie and Vicky at some point to see how things are going. Granted, I bet Bernie's excited. Her first grandchild."
"H-happy, yeah…" Alphys giggled eagerly. "B-but I-I think she's worried t-that h-her kids a-are going to h-have as m-many as she did…"
"A big family, just like ours."
The two of us laughed and it was then that I felt something… strange. I wasn't sure if it was because we were actively trying to keep an eye out for anything wrong or right for me, but something felt off and my muscles… I could feel them moving a bit, and they felt warmer than normal.
"Hey Al?"
"Y-yes?"
"Can you… check me?"
Her eyes went wide behind her glasses.
"D-did you feel anything?"
"A little something… when we laughed just now…"
"O-okay, o-one second!"
I patiently waited, laying down a bit more so that there was no issues when Alphys came to my side. I wore a simple hospital gown at the time so I wouldn't ruin my clothes. Just because we truly never knew when it would happen, I wanted to be prepared and not ruin another set of clothes.
Even if the others weren't so worried about it…
"O-Oh dear…"
"Alphys?" I shot up, trying to look at her better from where she was checking me over. "Did I…?"
"Y-yes Angel… y-your water broke i-it seems… a-and your nearly dilated all the way."
Taking a breath to steady my nerves, I attempted to relax in the bed. "Okay… well… I guess it could be worse…"
"I-its okay." Alphys tried to show me a bright smile despite the fact that I was in labor and apparently had been for a while… just like the previous time. "I-I'll call Olivia. S-she'll be h-here before you k-know it."
"Right… would you kindly let Sans know as well? I'd… like him here."
"O-of course."
Later That Afternoon:
I couldn't believe just how different things were that most recent time compared to the last. The last time I'd been a mess in the middle of my birthday party. Compared to my first set of twins, I was already laid out on a table with monitors hooked up to me. Sans was latched right up to my side, holding my hand tightly. Running around the room was Olivia who sped back from the coast after Addie had safely given birth to her baby.
Our other two little ones were with Papyrus, Lilly and Impact. Undyne had taken out Alphys once Olivia had shown up, both her kids she'd held close while they headed out, but not before wishing us good luck.
It was then just a waiting game while my body was helping the kids out.
Olivia was constantly checking to see what condition I was in. I was fully dilated. Honestly, I wasn't sure how long it would take since my first-time giving birth. I didn't even know I was giving birth until I noticed Eras' head when I went to the bathroom.
"Everything is looking good, Angel." Olivia popped her head above the blanket's quickly before giving us a gentle smile. "And I just checked the progress of the twins moving down and they're getting into position. It shouldn't be long before you'll be pushing. Now, I know this is very different from the first set of twins, but these little ones may come faster since this isn't your first time being a mom. I'd like you to stay in this room's general area, but it won't hurt to move around a bit while we're passing that time. Do you feel any urge to push yet?"
"Not really… I feel the muscles moving a bit and the heat from them, but that's about it." I shrugged. The grip I felt come from Sans' hand was tight. I wasn't able to move much. "It's about how I felt last time, though I guess I'm more aware of it compared to last time. It just feels like I need to go to the bathroom…"
"And that's okay. I'm not going anywhere until you give birth and get settled." The woman smiled before she stood from her seat. "I'm going to give you a few minutes while I check on Alphys' young ones. I plan on bringing back some ice water, would you like some? Or perhaps a snack?"
"That sounds great." I nodded to the woman. "Both sound good if you have the chance."
"Of course."
And with that, the doctor left the room. Once in peace by ourselves, I turned to my husband. Sans watched on a bit more at ease compared to times in the past.
"Ya feelin' alright, Precious?"
"Yeah. I think I'd like to move just a little bit." Pulling on his arm a bit, I helped myself slide to the edge of the bed. "Help me do a little lap around my room?"
"Course."
That led to my husband helping me up and assisting me in waddling around the small room. Small steps around the room, it was almost like a dance when I thought about it.
"I can't remember the last time we got to dance like this…"
"We've been both busy with work." Sans commented with a raised boney brow. "And the kids, helpin' Frisk 'n Pap get settled in their lives… haven't had much time."
"True, but you and I should make some more time." I leaned my head against his own. Sans held me up against him, allowing me to put my full weight against him in those moments. "It's been too long; we should take a vacation. We'll need it anyway with two new little ones in the house. Maybe travel out of the country for a while. I know you haven't had much of a chance to explore much outside the Terians' country."
"Meh, its fine."
"Well… I know the Hanora region has some lovely vacation spots and sights during the winter season. Maybe once these newest twins of ours get to have their first Christmas we could check it out?"
"If ya wanna Precious, but I don't mind how thin's are now." Sans chuckled while he carefully led me back to the bed. "I'm happy bein' above ground, I got a bigger family then I ever thought I'd have. Was only me and Pap for a long time… but if ya wanna go on vacation, I won't complain. Long as I'm with ya."
"Okay."
"Alright, now back ta bed with ya."
"Yes, Darling…"
Back into the bed I was placed. I was settled into the sheets while my body did as it wanted and began to push out my children. I'd done some research, because of the lack of feeling in the lower half of my body, I didn't need an epidural. Because I didn't have that, there shouldn't have been an issue with me pushing the kids out. But I couldn't feel much to begin with… that alone made me worried that I couldn't tell if it was time to push or not. I had to trust my muscles and feel when they working harder or when they became warmer.
They still worked while I couldn't tell… how frustrating.
"Okay Angel!" With a quick knock at our door, Olivia came hurrying back in. Snacks and water were in her hands that she set on the counter before she came over to me. "Still feeling good?"
"Yes, Sans just helped me take a few steps around the room. I just sat back down."
"Good, let's see if you progre-oh boy!"
I knew that face that she showed us when she peaked under the blankets.
"I knew you were an unpredictable one from the story you told me about your first set of twins, but wow…" She came up quickly and grabbed some tools. "Its go time! You're first little one is crowning! That is a record!"
I honestly couldn't tell much from what she was saying. My muscles felt warm and that was honestly all I could feel. I thought my nerves were getting worse…
"Go ahead and push Angel!"
I certainly did my best that time. One good push from me and I felt a weight fall out of my body. I couldn't help but marvel just how quickly the babe seemed to come from me.
Then a screech of a baby rang out and I felt relieved at that, my grip of Sans slacked.
"And here's our first little girl! Okay, Angel! Go ahead and take a break while I clean this little one up."
"Okay."
"Um…" The look then doctor gave me in those next moments while she held a mucus coated baby in her arms made me a tad nervous. "You can't feel if you're pushing or not, can you?"
I tilted my head, entirely relaxed in all honestly. "No? I'm not pushing."
"Oh dear! Sans!"
"Ya got it, Doc."
My husband dove from my side to under the sheet. His hands reached and another weight instantly just slid right out of me. I hated how I could barely notice it, though perhaps it was for the better so that I couldn't feel the pain. Right there and then I heard another cry echo in the room and the two babes cried in sync.
All I could do was breathe deeply and struggle to hold my emotions in place. They were there safely, even if this much safer and well-off pregnancy still was a chaotic mess in the end.
"Bring her over here Sans! I'm almost done with the first one! Did you get a time stamp for her?"
"Comin' Doc. And yeah, one-forty-five."
"Good. Let's get that second little misses cleaned up now!"
All I could do was lean back in the bed and notice just how tired I was feeling then. I knew it had to be from my use of muscles, regardless of the fact that I'd hardly done much. Well, at least not actively.
And then before I knew it, two wiggling creatures landed in my arms. One was wrapped in a red blanket while the other was wrapped in an pink one. Both looked exactly the same and still cried and acted in harmony. I found that quite strange… I knew they were twins, but they were already so much different than their older siblings…
"Hey girls…"
That was when the tears fell. I could feel them, hold them. Their tiny body wiggled against my own, even as they were wrapped up in their blankets.
"Wanna know their names, Angel?"
I blinked at my husband tiredly. "Please."
"Welp… over here in red, we got the first born. That's Calibri Terians."
I tried to focus in on her on her own. Still looking between the two girls, they were utterly identical in their actions just yet. I would need to be very careful not to get them mixed up.
"Hey Calibri…" I couldn't resist the gentle kiss to her forehead. She wiggled more at that while she wined.
"And over here in pink, our youngest, Constantina Terians."
"What pretty names!" Another kiss to the second twin's head. This time, Constantina squirmed a lot at the affection and I beamed in having even the smallest way of telling them apart. Granted, I didn't dare think it would last or wouldn't change… "And we can call them Cali and Connie for nicknames! But their utterly beautiful!"
"Yeah, now we really got a houseful."
"Well, I guess you need to make sure not to get me pregnant again then, don't you?"
He sweated at that. "I'll get right on that, Precious."
Third Person's Point of View:
"Oh this is outrageous! How dare they!? How absolutely dare they!?"
Mettaton hurled the dresser at her side into the wall that shattered into a million pieces. It was only for a moment that she cared to remember she'd spent probably more money on it then she should have, like fifty thousand or so, but she was so infuriated that she didn't care.
She couldn't believe the absolute lack of luck she had while the Terians sisters got it all! Papyrus and their son showed off her true self. The side of her that she'd hidden for so many years. The side she wanted no one to know about. And her one friend, her only friend from back in those days betrayed her! Alphys was willing to give up their secret for them?! For them?!
The gall of that woman!
It irritated just how nosy that little Frisk was as well! She certainly had her spunk back after being put down by that teen that wanted her as his wife. So filled with determination... no different then when she was on her show...
How she fooled her back then!
"Ms. Mettaton! Please calm down!"
It was a struggle not to scream as she shoved her manager out of her penthouse apartment she owned.
"Make yourself scarce! Get out!"
She couldn't take the humiliation any more as no matter what she did, she couldn't get her way with anything when it came to that family! And anyone attached to them didn't bother to focus on her anymore either. Her number of viewers weren't reasonable at all in Terians' land, and began to drop in other locations. She had a fair amount of money saved regardless, but eventually it could be troubling. Even with the stipend she received for being a monster, it was more or less just enough for necessities for a normal person, not a fabulous person like her!
More items of furniture were hurled as she stomped around in her frustration. The once lovely place that had been filled with merchandise or specialty items crafted for her were lost to her rage. Nothing was saved from her warpath, even her front door when the doorbell rang.
Mettaton rushed up to the door, ripping it off its hinges as she saw the cloaked person before her and her security gone from the hallway that led to her home. Mettaton hardly thought that a strange thing as she dove for the figure.
"GET OUT!"
But the figure only sidestepped before sleeping behind the maniac robot woman into her apartment.
"My, my, how the powerful have fallen, and the power you hold, using it for such destructive things." It was a woman who stood before her, dodging and weaving any move that Mettaton made against her. "But that power could be used for other things, such as revenge against that family who did you wrong. Don't you want that?"
"Oh screw you!" Mettaton's metallic hands slashed at the cloaked woman before her. "Don't you know how many times I tried? How many attempts against those stupid sisters and their family that I've done? Nothing I do works! They have the upper hand in everything because their fucking nice to everyone!"
"But your following is not dead either, my dear." Taking another step back while Mettaton's gears whirled and breathed, she sat comfortably on a single leather chair that had yet to be destroyed. "There is still much you can do. They never fully outed you, using that as leverage. Forever you will be under their thumb, so why not take them out with a bang?"
Those particular words had Mettaton pausing to think. While she knew there were others that despised that of Terians family, she didn't think she'd run into one so soon. And neither did she think someone would seek her out.
Was it that obvious? She thought that her issue with the sisters had been kept well under wraps. She never made an article in ill will against them to keep up her image. She'd been at odds with Angel and Frisk for years after they first ruined her image on public television in the underground, and that took the remainder of her time in the underground to repair the damage that had caused. Then coming to the surface, she thought she could gather dirt on the family though their lovable ball of sunshine, Papyrus. Never in the world did she think he would get pregnant with a spark between them, especially with all the precautions she took to prevent that from happening. She couldn't risk a child revealing who she really was.
But it happened anyway, and the Terians' women earned points to use against Mettaton instead.
That woman was right. Mettaton would never be free of the issues they held provokingly over her head. The only way to be rid of them was to destroy them. Truly destroy them.
Mettaton stood tall and proud in those moments. Looking at the clothed woman carefully, it was time for Mettaton to be used, rather than having those to use around her.
"I hope you're prepared then, Darling." Her words came out slowly as the metallic woman moved over to where a secret drawer was opened in the side of her wall to reveal a pack of cigarettes. With skilled hands, she lit one up before leaning against a tattered wall that laid in ruin. A long drag was taken before smoke began to fill the apartment once burning. "I don't have much sanity left, you best use what's left well then if you're planning to take those wenches down."
Witch's Note:
Okay, this is getting kinda crazy! Mystic! Keep your prisoners where you can see them or something! This is the third one that's escaped?! And I just gave you this one!
Mystic Girl: I'M TRYING TO BUT MY SECURITY SYSTEM IS ON THE FRITS SO I CAN'T!
Me: Okay then... welp... I think I'm gonna move onto reviews before things turn out any worse...
MysticBoywastaken: I think Mystic Girl will understand that might be a bit too much right now, Mystic Boy, don't worry about it. She told me to pass onto you that you're fine and to take the time you need to recover.
Mystic Girl: You could also be a guard in another area if you want. Just making sure someone else I'm keeping down here is staying in this place once I fix my system if that helps?
Thechaosmaster: I see the violence glowing in your eyes, Chaos! But yes, this was a bit of a surprise for us over here too... Mystic Girl also has not been exactly sane since this happened. She's had a week to stew on it and now with Mettaton gone too... uh oh...
Trust me, as soon as you all find him, he's yours. I want no part of this. But clearly there's something else going on in the background...
Mystic Girl: Chaos front and center, please, NOW! I am giving you River as a partner, because both of you have it out for Luke and I fucking love it! Kill on sight! Just bring me back the god damn body!
Shadow8Phantom: And your accurate guess was, in fact, accurate, Shadow. Mettaton as you can see is gone too. Everyone is losing their shit and I have no idea where they went...
Now we were having such a nice moment with Lilly and Papyrus getting together only to discover that this hooded figure has taken Mettaton in too. Oh man are we in trouble...
Well, more likely me. After all, none of you have to deal with Mystic Girl when she gets this crazy... and man is she absolutely bonkers after this last escape.
(In the background, Mystic can be seen hard at work doing the updates to the base herself for making sure that when she gets those assholes I handed over to her back that they wouldn't be getting out unless she wanted them to. Watching her light up a welder and turn an entire room on fire... it was a scary thing as I walked away.)
Not involved... I'm not involved. I relinquish those rights entirely. All up to you guys...
unfortunatlyriverwastaken: It's good to see you, River! How you been?
Granted, I'm sure this was startling to see once you came back. Gone a couple weeks and this happens? Yikes.
Granted, I can tell you right now that Mystic Girl understands when you're not able to be here all the time, but so long as you're here to help, she couldn't give a shit otherwise. And trust me, she's gonna need all the help she can get with everything happening over here.
I would honestly start by making sure she doesn't do so many upgrades that she blows up my room. I need that or I can't continue the story for everyone. I would say that's the most important right now as I work through everything.
Mystic Girl: So first of all, River? Welcome to the team. Meet your new partner, Chaos. And I have two rules for you two. First, find Luke and kill him, two, bring me back the body, that's it.
Not A Shady Guy: Damn Shady... didn't mean to give you a double whammy...
It sucks to hear Australia not doing well in the Cup (not that I know much about it to be perfectly honest, very sorry about that) but things are getting very heated here as you said too. Mystic Girl is going insane and I'm just leaving it up to anyone who wants to step into the metaphorical ring with her to keep her from going too crazy over there while I try to get the story written. She's been pretty good... but I'm worried that this will push her over the edge... if it hasn't already...
But at least we get some cute moments from the last chapter and this one! But with Mettaton gone now... uh... I think I've said it enough... don't you? XD
Mystic Girl: (Mystic Girl is laughing off in the distance and Halloween flinches as the welder torch can be heard starting up again, sparks flying just outside her room.)
Me: Okay... but this is everyone and everything! I hope! I think! Maybe? Oh my goodness... this is bad... so very bad...
Cute new babies vs a bad guy getting away from Mystic Girl... I don't know how to feel right now. Hopefully next chapter will give us some more light?
Oh boy...
Love you all and see you next week... Spread that love, we're gonna need it...
Halloween Witch and Mystic Girl
