-Anya POV-

She rushed to her father's office, quickly taking off her mary jane's and tossing them to the side.

"Anya, I needed to talk to you," He said stoically as she ran into his office.

Anya scoffed,

"Did you kill Donovan Desmond?"

—Flashback to two hours ago—

Damian Desmond had been sitting in front of her, at the coffee shop, and Anya could hardly believe it. He was gone again now, however, having disappeared so quickly again just like sand falling through the cracks of her fingers and no matter how close together she kept them, it would still come out.

God that sounded so fucking stupid.

She sat at the coffee shop, alone stupidly. She was so fucking stupid. She had thought that a few nice looks would get him back on her side.

Why was she even entertaining his idea? Hadn't she said she was done with him? Was it because he said that she would fall for him again?

Fuck.

He was wrong. She would prove him wrong. She would never fall for Damian Desmond again. She was a spy and he was the second son of one of the most important people in Ostania. Their relationship was doomed from the start.

But god how much she wished it had worked out.

She could feel the tears streaming down her face as she stupidly sat there. Loid had been right; there had been no good things to come out of falling in love with the target.

But she wanted to prove him wrong so badly.

She sat there, the tears streaming down her face when the lady who had been working the counter walked over to her,

"It wasn't your fault that his father died, you do know that, Twilight's daughter?"

Anya quickly wiped her face with her shirt-sleeve,

"What?"

The barista sighed,

"Your information only got on the day Donovan Desmond was killed. Someone else who had been following him for a long time nabbed the kill. Twilight should have told you."

Anya's eyes widened.

She hadn't been Donovan Desmond's murderer. She hadn't ruined the Desmond family like that.

But now everything that she had built with Damian was messed up,

"No. It can't be."

Anya stood up abruptly, rushing to exit as the barista headed back to the station. Anya knew that she would never see the barista there again, but that wasn't her main focus right now.

She started the ignition of the car and sped through traffic, racing home where Loid had to be by now.

Fuck fuck fuck.

The cars were moving unbearably slow and so many thoughts were racing through Anya's mind. She messed up everything because of Loid. They could have still been together. They would never be together if she still felt the guilt of Damian's father's death on her conscience, but if it wasn't her fault?

Then Loid had been trying to separate them, and he hadn't told her the truth knowing that she would move heaven and earth to be with Damian again if it was true.

She rushed to her father's office, quickly taking off her mary jane's and tossing them to the side.

"Anya, I needed to talk to you," He said stoically as she ran into his office.

Anya scoffed,

"Did you kill Donovan Desmond?"

Loid leaned back in his chair,

"Who said such a thing?"

Anya scoffed, so the barista had been right. She read his mind to make sure of that.

Tch, I feel bad lying to her but she must stay away from that Damian Desmond brat. I don't want them together. He will be such a bad influence on her.

"Why does it matter? You are a liar, Papa."

Loid stood up, his face red from anger,

"So what if I'm a liar? I'll be the bad guy, as long as you and that Damian Desmond brat aren't together."

Anya scoffed,

"What's so bad about him? What makes you hate him so much, Papa?"

Loid laughed bitterly,

"I don't know, how about the way he and his friends teased you for years?"

Anya scoffed,

"I bullied him back, Papa. Don't give me those bullshit excuses. As my father, should you support who I love?"

Loid sat back down,

"Anya, as your father I am trying to look out for you. If you can't understand this, that is too bad."

Anya rolled her eyes,

"Papa, at least let me bring him home. I promise that if you allow this relationship, I can convince you to accept him."

Loid scoffed, but Anya knew she had him. He was just like her in the sense that neither would ever back down from such a challenge.

"Fine, but if you can't, you must end things with him."

Anya smirked,

"Deal."

Now it was time for the hard part.

Winning Damian Desmond back.
