Day 11
Luna haven't moved since yesterday. Lana was welding something near the hatch. Lola was with Lily, doing something. Lucy locked herself in the vents. I was just there, standing idly. I don't know what to do, what to feel, what to want. I don't know. I tried finding Bun Bun but he never showed himself. I wonder where he is. He's probably mad at me for being a coward. I sighed. I sat on my cot and I lied down. We didn't even move Lynn's and Luan's bodies inside the crate. We just left them there. We're tired. We know that sooner or later, we'll die too. Perhaps more painfully.
Lana's welding arcs flashes brightly through the thin curtains on my cot. I got up and I went to her. I guess she heard me because she stopped and turned around.
"What... uh, what are you making there?" I asked. My voice shaky.
"Hey Linc..." She pulled her welding mask up. She turned the MMA machine off, and she stepped aside. On the floor was a foot made out of metal. "Luna asked me to help make a foot, it's not much, but hopefully it'll help her walk..." Her eyes trailed to the backroom entrance. "It's not her fault. We're all murderers bro."
"We are..."
"So what're you doing here?" She asked, her face making a sympathetic smile.
"I was just... curious on what you're doing," I told her.
"Is that it?"
"...no... I was wondering what you feel about the things that happened so far." I sighed. She looked at me, she placed the torch down and she patted my shoulder.
"I don't really care about it anymore, after Lisa, I just want my life to end. Izzy's gone, Seymour's gone, El Diablo's gone, Hops' gone. All my babies died, and I'm down to half a dozen siblings including myself. There is no future for us Lincoln," She said with a smile. Not the smile of happiness, it was the smile of someone who had accepted fate. I wish I had that resolve. I want to die, but I'm just to afraid of death. I wish, I could just die. "Did that answer your question?"
"Yeah, thanks Lana," I told her before walking away.
Lana wants to die.
Just as I was about to go back to my cot, I could hear Lola laughing from her cot. I walked over and I pulled the curtains open.
"Oh hey Linc," Lana waved at me. Lily was sound asleep.
I sat down. "What are you doing Lols?" I asked.
"Nothing, just having a tea party with my friends, Brie told me that she got a free manicure from this one spa on Helm Street. I so want to go there!" She said pointing at nothing. "How about you dear brother? What are you doing?" She asked me.
"Nothing much, I just wanted to know how you're doing."
"I'm pretty good, I just want dad to come home, he's been on vacation for too long!" She said as she took a sip of air from her plastic cup. "Want some?"
"It's alright, I'm on a diet," I told her as I left.
"YOUR LOSS!" She shouted from behind the curtains.
Lola is losing it.
Lily is asleep.
I sat down on my cot and I stared at the ceiling of the cot. I wish I was still in school, being bullied by fat assholes. I wish that I wasn't stuck in a musty concrete room with the dead bodies of my family. Just as my eyes were about to shut, I heard a scream. It was Lucy. I jumped off my cot, and I saw Lucy struggling to open the vent grills. I rushed over to her and I pulled it off.
"What's going on?" Luna came. She saw what was going on and her eyes went frenzy. She rushed down and threw her crutches away. With both of our might we pulled and pulled on the grill.
"HELP ME!" Lucy screamed, "IT'S COMING!" Just as she said it's coming, the grill was opened. Luna grabbed Lucy by her right arm and I grabbed her by the left. Just as Lucy's torso got out, she was pulled back in. We didn't let go. She screamed louder. "IT HAS MY FEET! DON'T LET ME GO!" She screamed. Lana rushed over to us and pulled on Lucy's arm. We pulled and pulled.
Not even 10 seconds after, she fell on Lana who was directly in front of her. The entire lower half of Lucy's body was gone. Blood flowed down fast from her stomach. Her intestines formed a trail, and her spine was exposed. She was still alive. Lana pushed Lucy off of her and stood up. "Please... Help... Me..." Lucy begged as blood rushed out her mouth. Luna looked at Lucy, her face spelled shock. "Help... me... sis..."
It didn't took another second before Luna shot Lucy in the head. Ending her life. 3 bullets left.
Lana didn't stay there, she ran to the backroom and grabbed the can of bug spray. Luna aimed the gun inside the vents, and Lana aimed the bug spray in. I got up and grabbed the hockey stick. I propped it up as a barrier and we waited.
45 seconds.
The creature rushed towards us. Lana didn't wait. She sprayed it with the bug spray causing its skin to burn. It shrieked loudly as it tried to retreat. Luna didn't want that to happen, she grabbed the creature by its hind legs and dragged it out of the vents. I could see the rage in Luna's face as she slammed the thing down and pinning it to the floor. It scratched Luna with its claws but Luna didn't care. "LANA KILL IT!" Luna yelled as Lana sprayed the thing down, it melted and shriveled and died.
Lucy fucking died.
Luna sat up and laid her back to the wall. Blood dripping down her temple. It scratched a large gash above Luna's right eye, if it were any lower, she'd be blind. "Fuck!" Luna yelled as she cried into her bloodied hands. Lucy's body was still on the floor, well half of it anyways. I could see her eyes through her bangs. It was cold. We'll be like that one day.
Without saying anything, Lana grabbed her torch and welded the vent grills shut. Wiping the sweat from her face, Lana dragged Lucy's corpse to the backroom. "You guys just keep a lookout. I'll take care of this," She said with a look of disappointment in her face.
Is this truly us now? We're so jaded we're just mildly disappointed that one of our family members just died in front of us?
"Fuck this," Luna said as she put her hands down from covering her face. She looked at me, and I saw her eyes, it was dead. It was empty. "When do you think this nightmare will end?" Luna asked me with a smile on her face.
"I don't know."
We can't end it now. We only have 3 bullets left and we still have 5 people in our family. "I don't know if I can do it to myself Linc, when the time comes, please just put one in my head. I don't want to die like dad," She smiled again before picking her crutches up and walking to her cot.
Is there truly no hope?
