Matt panted as he slammed his sword into a floating red crystal and shattered it into a ton of pieces. "This is endless!"

He and the rest of the team had entered the third presumed location of Darius only to quickly discover that it was another trap. The entire group was ambushed and quickly pushed into a crystal temple by two golems made of crystals. One of the golems had a large gem on its back that changed colors based on the elemental attack it intended to use next while the other had an extremely large flat white diamond on its back and always backed up the other golem by casting a variety of defensive buffs. Thankfully, their battle was cut short by Lance and Seth who both dropped an enormous tank each filled with explosives and set to self-destruct. Unfortunately, their battle awoken several red and blue large diamond-shaped crystals that either fire or ice damage based on their color.

"How do we know which one is which?" asked Anna.

"Red is fire, blue is water or ice. It's that simple," answered Natalie while throwing a sundae to Lance.

"How's Edward doing?"

"Not too good," answered Seth. "He seems to be struggling with his trial's abilities."

Earlier…

"Is everyone alright?" asked Matt as they entered the temple.

"I think so. None of us were injured from the fight," declared Anna.

"Yet."

The entire team turned and saw none other than Darius surrounded by a large amount of dark energy.

"What do you mean by yet?" inquired Edward.

"Ah! So you thought that I didn't know about Anarchy did you?" asked Darius. "Well, thanks to the little rendezvous that you had at school, I was able to learn and discover the location where you hid the blade. Such a shame the guards are all incapable teens."

"You-!" yelled Edward.

"See ya. I'll be sure to send you a souvenir."

Darius left but before he did, he snapped his fingers.

"By the way, enjoy the parting gift."

The dark figure inside the temple took shape and raised its staff into the air to erect a barrier around the temple, trapping the entire team. As this happened, red and blue crystals surrounded them while charging their elemental powers.

"Edward, take care of this guy. We'll deal with the crystals," ordered Matt.

Edward looked at the figure which was a complete mirror image of him. Except, it seemed to be wearing a glass armor coating. Additionally, it was also using black scythe with a skull that Matt recognized as Death Scythe.

"This must be my trial," thought Edward. "Bring it."

Now…

Matt had smashed another crystal and shielded Natz from being hit from an ice spell. They were the only two fighters left that were not frozen or completely out of mp points. Natz healed everyone and freed those that were frozen from their icy prison. However, this had cost her and she was now down to her last dregs of mp points.

"Nolegs! Can you look for a way out of here?" asked Matt.

The limbless cat nodded and left the team.

Edward on the other hand, was injured and cut up really badly from his trial. It had not gone down as he expected as everytime he casted a spell or made a move, his trial did so in a fashion that was not only identical to his own, but also better in every way. Additionally, unlike Edward who was hurt by every spell, the clone seemed unfazed by any of the attacks.

"How is this possible?" asked Edward as he used Seraphim to pull himself upwards. He then casted a powerful column of holy energy at the clone which simply passed through the clone as if it were a ray light. He was then struck by the scythe and hit the barrier where he collapsed, bleeding and no longer capable of fighting.

"Edward!" yelled Andres.

"I'll go help him," volunteered Seth. "You guys take care of these crystals."

Just as Seth ran over to the place Edward laid, Edward's clone raised his Death Scythe and all the crystals began charging up their elemental powers.

"Look out!" yelled a familiar voice. The crystals fired their elemental powers at the team which was completely helpless. At the last second, a barrier blocked the attack but it didn't matter anymore, everyone had been taken down.

Unknown place…

Edward woke up from his slumber and saw a bearded man in a white robe cooking some food.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"Edward, I was expecting you."

"God?" asked Edward.

"No I'm not the Almighty if that's who you were looking for but I am a messenger. Here, eat this."

He handed Edward some flat looking bread and a dark liquid that looked like grape juice. Edward did as he was told before he asked again.

"Where am I?"

"You're still on Earth if that's what you're concerned about but as of right now, you're unconscious and living somewhere that our Lord has put you in. It's not your time yet."

Edward seemed confused but accepted it as he figured he wasn't going to get much out of this guy.

"That was a really spectacular fight you put up down there," commented the old man.

"What? You were watching?" asked Edward.

The old man nodded. Our Lord saw the whole fight and allowed some of us to see it as well. I was one of them.

"But I lost."

"Not yet. You haven't yet. I just brought you here because it seemed that you needed a reminder on how to really win your battles. Well off you go then. I'm sure we'll meet in the very far future though whether it's after you pass or get rescued, I won't know until then."

"Wait! What do you mean I need to remember how to really win your battles? What are you talking about?"

Edward would never hear his answer as he was woken up by the shaking of one of his allies.

"Alannah?"

"Edward, you have to hurry. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up for."

She was holding Seraphim to cast a barrier but it was clear that she couldn't keep it up for long. Just then, Edward saw what seemed to be a cross on the floor and realized what the old man had been telling him about.

"I see. So that's what he meant."

Edward quickly snatched up his staff from Alannah and said a prayer. Just as he did, a large amount of holy energy blasted upwards and caused everyone to wake up.

"What just happened?" asked Lance.

"My head hurts," commented Andres as he pulled himself upwards.

"Look! Is that what I think it is?" asked Natz.

"I think so."

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth," said Edward. "Genesis!"

More holy energy blasted through the floor but this time, the blast was more than enough to shatter all the crystals in the room. Even Edward's trial was unable to survive the second blast as all he could do was give off a look of shock before he disintegrated into a pile of black glass shards. Afterwards, the energy died down and Edward lowered Seraphim while Alannah ran over to Matt and the rest of the team.

"I understand now. Unless I put my trust in Him, I will never be able to win my fights. After all, Matt's right, I'm capable of doing many things. Just not in the way I expect."

"Edward! We need to get going. Our club was attacked!"

Upon hearing this, Edward got up and rejoined his team as they followed Alannah back to their school.
