~~~Author's Notes~~~
We now move from the shortest chapter to the longest. This flashback was meant to be only one chapter, but I realized while writing that it was gonna be longer than I thought. So it'll be a two parter, unlike the older version which is drastically different and shorter.
Year X773
The sun shined brightly above the bright white skies today. It shined so bright that the air felt hot compared to the usual chilly winds the angels were used to. Despite this, the country in the sky was as peaceful and quiet as ever. Under the rule of their god, Izanagi, Exahelm had kept its peace for decades with hardly any crime occurring. Even though the god rarely made any public appearances, he was worshiped by the townsfolk for maintaining this peace for so long.
Some would idolize Izanagi so much that a program was invented for young angels to study and potentially become one of his loyal warriors. Several generations of these warriors called Tenhei would come and go since they lacked the immortality their ruler had, and it was around this time for new upstarts to take their place. One of the benefits of being a Tenhei was being granted free reign to use their magic in order to protect their country.
At an empty cloudy field near the town entrance sat four young angels who huddled together. One was a 13 year old boy with short green hair who was staring off in the distance. Nothing was in front of him but the empty skies. It didn't take long for him to snap out of it as another boy angel was snapping his fingers towards his face.
"Hey! Earthland to Hahlos! Were you even listening?!" A glasses-wearing angel scolds. A slightly taller boy with a pointy nose stood to his left while a shorter girl angel with long gray hair stood to his right. "I was asking you if you got your part of the assignment done?" He asked.
Hahlos turned to the three young angels and shook his head. "N-no…I'm sorry, Stark. But I haven't gotten started on it yet." He admits, scratching the back of his head.
"Are you kidding me? You know we were working on this for a while now to become the next Tenhei!" Stark clarified. "Don't tell me you're *still* fixated on the world below…" He crossed his arms, appearing very annoyed.
"But aren't any of you curious?" Hahlos asked, gesturing his arm to the distance. "For decades, there laid a world right below us. And none had explored it. There may be whole new races and people down there!"
The boy with the pointy nose, Torian, scratched his forehead with one finger. "I dunno Hahlos. You've heard those stories about the land-walkers right? How they have no laws for magic and use so many dangerous kinds of it for hurting others?"
"As well as the stories of how the land-walkers were responsible for the extinction of an entire race, the dragons." The girl with gray hair, Arya, added. "And it was with the magic that dragons taught them."
"Those land walkers only crave power and use it to kill each other for their own selfish benefits. So why are you so interested in people like them?" Stark wondered while scoffing.
Hahlos sighs. "But what if those were just rumors? It's been years since one had explored down below, what if it wasn't like that at all?" He argues.
Stark groans before pinching his nose. "I swear you're like a brick wall." He then points at Hahlos with an intense expression. "You better have that assignment done by the end of the week, if you slack anymore then you're out of the group project." He demands.
"I will, I promise. I'm sorry once again." Hahlos agrees and apologizes.
During their conversation, the four overheard a voice calling out to them. It was a young girl who was slightly older than the four. She wore a white sundress with yellow sandals. The sandals had a yellow flower attached to each one. She had soft brown eyes and long white hair. She wore a necklace with a star shaped crystal attached to it. The girl waved at the three as she was calling out to Stark specifically.
"There you are Starky!" The girl called out, running towards them.
Stark raised an eyebrow before briefly glancing towards the sun. "Ah, I suppose it's that time already." He realized.
Hahlos stared at the girl approaching them before turning back to Stark. "Do you know her?"
Stark gave Hahlos a baffled expression, pausing for a moment. "Of…course I know her. She's my sister, remember?" He clarified.
Hahlos tilted his head. "I didn't know you had a sister."
"You didn't? He told us before y'know." Arya recalled.
"Well maybe you should start getting to know your friends better rather than focus on the world below eh?" Stark quipped in a harsh tone before turning his back to him.
The girl stopped in front of the group and caught her breath for a moment. She smiled brightly at the four. "You all must be Starky's friends! My name is Carine, his older sister! Very nice to meet you all!" Carine introduced herself, waving at the three.
Torian and Hahlos waved back silently while Arya went over and shook Carine's hand. Stark had his hands on his hips, waiting for his sister.
Carine glanced over at Hahlos and approached him. He was caught off guard by how close she was getting, causing him to stretch back slightly.
"I like your hair color!" Carine compliments. "Rare to see someone with green hair around these parts!"
"Oh! T-thanks?" Hahlos hesitated.
"Carine. Weren't you here to pick me up?" Stark snarkily asks.
Carine jumped and turned her head at Stark for a moment. "Right! I'll be right over!" She turns back to Hahlos and gives another friendly wave.
Before Hahlos could respond, his eyes suddenly flashed blue, causing him to flinch. At the same time, Carine's eyes flashed blue, but she did not flinch. A vision appeared in their minds.
Hahlos is walking through an unusual town. The floor looked solid and rough looking. They were surrounded by people without wings and halos. Right above them were the clouds they currently stood on.
The two snap back to reality, both of them gasping. They stared at each other in awe.
"...I thought I was the only one…" Carine mumbled. "...Can you tell me your name?"
"...It's Hahlos." Hahlos answered.
"Hahlos…" Carine paused, taking in the shock for a moment. She smiled softly at him. "Let's talk later, kay?"
Hahlos paused for a moment as well, but smiled back. "Yeah…"
Stark, Torian and Arya stood a couple feet away from the two. The three of them appearing confused on what got them both acted up all of the sudden.
2 weeks later…
"Careful. You'll strain your eyes if you focus too hard." Carine advised. She and Hahlos were currently sitting in front of each other on wooden chairs. She was helping out the green haired angel improve his future sight.
Hahlos groans, holding the top of his head in aching pain. "This isn't gonna work…why do you insist on helping me improve my eyes when you can see the future perfectly?" He asks, looking back up at the girl.
Carine places her hands on her hips, frowning. "Don't be such a downer, Hahlos. We're the only ones we know who were born with this power. That's how we became friends, right?" She giggles, now smiling. "We need to make a great example for Exahelm!"
Hahlos drags his hand off his face and gives an unimpressed expression. "If you insist…Corrin."
"It's *Carine!* Dummy!" Carine playfully wacks Hahlos' head with a fist. He holds the top of his head in pain while Carine sighs. "This is why we need to improve your Clairvoyance, you're still getting knocked so easily!" She lets out a playful groan.
Carine leans back and dozes off. She stares off to her left which leads to empty skies. She turns back to Hahlos as his pain goes away. "Hey Hahlos…have you ever been curious about the world below us?" Carine asks.
Hahlos raises an eyebrow as their eyes meet. He wasn't sure how to respond. Carine brushed her long hair and tilted her head in seeing his reaction.
"S-sorry…guess that was a weird question huh?" Carine sighed.
Hahlos frantically waved his hands. "No no! It's just that…I thought I was the only one…"
Carine widened her eyes and shot up, knocking her wooden chair over. She gripped both of Hahlos' hands tightly. She smiled brightly at the boy. "You are?! S-so, when I saw your eyes flash blue like mine…you saw the same thing I did?!" She asked excitedly.
Hahlos was caught off guard by Carine's sudden tone shift, but he stood up as his hands were still held. "The vision of a small town on rough ground…and the clouds above us?" He recalled.
"Yes! Yes!" Carine bubbled, jumping in place. "I saw the exact same thing! It must have been fate for us to meet!"
"Fate? I'm…uh…" Hahlos hesitated.
But he was interrupted by Carine as she tugged on both his arms. "Come on! I wanna show you something!" She urged.
Before he could even utter a breath, the boy was already being dragged away by the girl.
After being forcefully guided to what appeared to be several minutes, the two reach a small cloud island far off of town. The cloud was so small that only two or three people could stand on it. The only thing that was on the cloud was what appeared to be a roughly handmade telescope.
"What…is that? Did you make it?" Hahlos inquired.
Carine flew at the cloud and fumbled the telescope. "I use this to observe the world below! It took me a couple years to make it!" She chirped, aiming the end of the scope at a specific spot.
Hahlos flew next to Carine and scanned the object. "But, what about Stark? Did you keep this a secret from him?" He wondered.
"Mhm! I know he has a distaste of the world below so I never brought it up to him!" Carine answered before stepping out of the way and waving her hand at the object. "Come on! Take a look inside!" She urged.
The green haired boy wasn't completely sure how the object worked, but complied nonetheless. He scooted next to Carine and peeked inside the eyepiece. His eyes widened as for what he saw inside, a clear view of an open field far below the two. The ground looked solid and there were several people without wings or halos down there. Hahlos spotted an assortment of wood, logs and stone as the people down there had hard hats on while carrying tools. Despite the clear view, it all still looked very small from the distance they're at.
"Land dwellers…" Hahlos marveled, looking down the telescope and glancing back at the white haired girl. "And a ton of them too! They seem to be working on something!"
Carine placed her arms behind her back and giggled. "Does that area look familiar?" She hinted. "That's the place we saw in our vision! They must be building a village there!"
"You really think so?" Hahlos questioned. He peeked back inside the eyepiece and spotted some landmarks that were similar to what he saw in his vision.
Carine walked to the edge of the clouds and stared off in the distance. The cold air brushed through her body as she took a deep breath. Hahlos poked out once again and glanced over at the girl. He proceeded to walk over to her and stand by her.
"My dream is to live my life to the fullest." Carine wished. "But being stuck here wouldn't achieve that. I want to explore the world! Meet new people!" She turned to him. "Which is why I want to visit that village when they're done!"
Hahlos flinched while staring at the sky. His purple eyes met with her brown eyes. "A-are you sure…?" He hesitated. "I know we saw it in our vision…but how would we even be able to get down there? It's said that we would lose our wings if we reach closer to the world below. Plus isn't it illegal to leave this country?"
"I'm not afraid of that. We saw it, that means it'll come true." Carine noted, lifting a finger. "And it'll make us the first angels in decades to explore the world below! No one has to know what we did!"
Hahlos was still hesitant as he rubbed the back of his head. He never relied on his Clairvoyance due to how weak it was. He too wanted to explore down below, but now with the opportunity it caused him to be unsure.
The sun began to set which caught the attention of the two angels. Carine opened her wings and slowly flew up. "We should head back before anyone catches us." She advised.
"R-right." Hahlos stuttered, opening his wings and following his friend.
Before they went their separate ways, Carine gently grabbed Hahlos' hands and softly smiled at him. "Don't worry, we still have plenty of time to think it out. It may take years for them to finish. Let's hang out together some more next time, kay?" She consoled.
Hahlos nodded and smiled back.
Year X775
It has been 2 years since Hahlos and Carine had met. Ever since she showed him the world below and told him her dream, the two would be together more often as it was a daily occurrence. Their bond deepened due to their similar powers and dreams. They would meet at their secret spot once a week to check on the progress of the village without anyone noticing, much to Stark's confusion. Hahlos would still keep up with his studies as he promised to Stark and the others since he still wanted to become a Tenhei member.
His Clairvoyance would see a drastic improvement thanks to his training with Carine. Since it was hard to decipher if it was really the same kind of magic that their god detests as well as it only activating on its own, the two assumed it was fine to harness it for the benefit of the country and themselves. It was because of this improvement that Hahlos became more confident and prepared to explore the village below.
With the village seemingly complete and populated, the now 15 year old Hahlos and 16 year old Carine met at the small island once more undetected as per usual. The latter was peeking down on her telescope.
"It's almost time." Carine stated, stepping back from the telescope and smiling widely. She looked up at the night sky as it was filled with bright stars. "I have to thank you, Hahlos."
Hahlos raised an eyebrow. "What for? You did more for me than I did for you."
Carine chuckled, still staring at the stars. "I'm thankful to have met you of course! We have the same dream and a power no one else has!" She looks back at him. "You understand me, that's why I'm thanking you!"
"Oh…" Hahlos was caught off guard by the compliments. "Well, I feel the same way…about you. I'm also glad to have met you, Carine." He looked up at the stars as a shooting star was seen by the two. "I just know that the world below will be a special place, I look forward to exploring and understanding it with you."
Carine opened her wings and turned back. "Yup! Me too! We'll leave next week, as we promised!" She chirped before beginning to fly off. "We should get going, it's getting way later than usual."
"Right, of course." Hahlos agreed, spreading his wings and slowly following behind.
As the two begin to leave, Hahlos felt his head ache. His eyes flash blue abruptly as a new vision appears.
Houses engulfed in flames. People in dark cloaks running around with swords as they cut down civilians and capture others. Both he and Carine run through the solid streets trying to escape these unknown individuals. They turn a corner and run into a person riding a horse as he makes his way towards them. He hears him utter one thing.
"Leave no survivors! For our lord Zeref!"
As the vision ends, Hahlos chokes on his breath and freezes in place. He held his head as sweat dripped from his forehead. His eyes slowly peer towards Carine. But to his confusion, the girl still appeared chirpy as ever as she continued to gain distance from him. The boy smacked his cheeks to get ahold of himself before quickly catching back up with her. He wondered if she saw the same thing he did, or was it even a future vision to begin with.
1 week later…
It was early morning as the sunrise was still active. Carine was the only one present as she adjusted her backpack. She placed a hand on her forehead and began to look around to see if her friend was anywhere to be seen.
"Where is he…it's not like him to be late…" Carine thought out loud while scanning the area. As soon as she said that, she spotted the boy himself far ahead flying right towards her. She waved to him while jumping in place.
The vision from last week pounded at Hahlos' mind that it affected his sleep schedule. It appeared that he didn't pack much as he was in a rush to meet up with his friend. He landed right in front of Carine and took a few deep breaths.
"There you are dummy!" Carine teased, poking his forehead. "What took you so long?! Did you oversleep?"
Hahlos had to catch his breath before responding. He stood up and sighed. "Sorry, Carine. I had trouble sleeping last night…"
Carine placed her hands on her hips. "Hmm, are you sure that's it? It looks to me that something is on your mind…" She was able to perceive.
It was no surprise to Hahlos that she was able to read him so easily. He wasn't sure what to say regarding the vision he saw. But it was making him more nervous than ever about exploring the world below.
"...Listen…" Hahlos hesitated, pausing for several seconds which caused Carine to tilt her head. He forced himself to continue. "Would it be possible to…do this on a different day?" He closed one eye and prepared for the worst.
Carine paused with a blank expression. Hahlos decided to continue. "I have been pretty busy juggling my studies to become a Tenhei…it's been affecting my sleep you see…I'm not sure if I'll be able to-"
"You saw it too?" Carine interrupted.
"Huh?"
"The village in flames. Attacked by hooded men." She revealed.
Hahlos widened his eyes. "Y-yeah…I-I did…so you saw it?"
Carine sighed before turning around and staring at the small cloud island. "It's true that the future is absolute, but it can be changed." She declared, turning her head back to him with a smile. "We can warn the land walkers, inform them of what we saw."
The male angel's eyes sank. He looked down and clenched both fists. "...Why should we risk our lives for strangers? How would they even believe us?" He quavered. "We still aren't sure if they can be trusted completely…because of the…stories told about them…"
The girl went up to Hahlos and gently grabbed both his hands again. Their eyes met as Carine's had a soft expression. "Tell me Hahlos, would evil creatures create such beauty like what we saw for the past 2 years?"
"N-no…but it may be too dangerous right now!" Hahlos exclaimed. "There are other areas you could explore! What happens if they don't believe our visions?!" He was desperate.
Carine adjusted her backpack. "Hahlos, we've been sneaking out several times for 2 years now. Someone is bound to discover what we're doing eventually." She explained. "Stark has been getting suspicious of me lately too, we may not have a second chance to explore down there. It'll ruin your work on becoming a Tenhei too."
Hahlos clenched his teeth as his body shuddered. "I get in…b-but…" He took a shaky breath. "I'm sorry…but I think I'll stay here." He admitted.
Carine slowly closed her eyes, but she still kept her soft expression. She let go of his hands and took a few steps back. "It's okay. I understand." She assured before turning her back to him. "But I'll still be going, don't try to stop me."
Hahlos shot his head up and reached out to her. "B-but…you may be-!"
"Don't worry!" Carine interrupted once again. She turned to him and flexed one arm. "I'll be fine! After all, the future is on my side! Those villagers will be saved!"
Hahlos lowered his arm, unable to say anything. He wasn't sure how to convince her to stay as she was dead set on exploring the world below. He saw her wings glow brightly as she prepared to take off.
"I'll bring you a souvenir and tell you stories of what the land walker world has!" Carine beamed, looking at him one last time. "I'll be back before you know it!"
And just like that, she took off and flew under the clouds. Hahlos rushed over and looked down as he witnessed Carine free falling with her wings spread wide and glowing brightly. He took a few steps back as he opened his wings, thinking of following her.
He proceeds to fold his wings and clench his teeth tightly. He turned back, returning to his home looking distraught.
The next day…
The clouds were a mushy gray today. Meaning it was a good time for the ranchers to gather some water from underneath.
Once again, Hahlos has not had a wink of sleep as bags were under his eyes. He was currently making his way back to the secret spot without paying attention to his surroundings. His vision was slightly blurry due to sleep deprivation.
During his walk, he passed by Carine's house. He wasn't fully aware at the moment that someone was calling out to him. The green haired boy rubbed his eyes for a brief moment before sliding his hands off his face and immediately coming into contact with someone. He stopped in place and let out a yelp of surprise. Once his vision became more clear, he saw that it was Stark standing in front of him.
"Hey, what's up with you?" puzzled Stark. "You look out of it."
Hahlos shook his head and stood up straight. "Apologies! I've just been a little sleep deprived." He half lied.
Stark adjusts his glasses and chuckles. "You and Carine have been hanging out together a lot more lately. It's a miracle you're still able to keep up with your studies." He jokes as he places his hands on his hips. "Speaking of, have you seen her lately? I haven't seen her since yesterday morning."
Hahlos opens his mouth, but the words escape him. He wasn't sure how to respond as he narrowed his eyes away from the slender angel. Stark took quick note of this and raised an eyebrow. Before he could press for information, he picked up an unusual scent and looked behind him.. Hahlos saw that his friend had his back towards him as he slowly followed his gaze. What the green haired boy saw caused his stomach to drop.
"Is that…smoke?" Stark wondered, holding his chin. "Reaching all the way up here? It must've not been put out yet…"
Hahlos felt his throat dry up. "That's where…no…" He realized before quickly opening his wings and taking off towards the smoke. He left a gust of wind behind which caused Stark to cover his face and back away a couple inches.
"Hahlos?! Where are you going?!" Stark called out.
Not only was Hahlos now fully awake but he was full of panic as he made his way to his usual spot with Carine's telescope. He landed right on the small cloud and quickly peeked inside the eyepiece. He scans the area, locating where the smoke is coming from. To his horror, he spots the same village he saw in his vision already burned down and desolated.
"No no NO!" Hahlos panicked, stepping back and accidently knocking over the telescope. It lands on the floofy substance and makes a light misty puff. The boy begins to hyperventilate, his mind in scrambles. He frantically looks around, trying to figure out what to do.
"Hahlos!" Stark called out, running towards him from a distance. Due to his wings not fully developing, he was unable to fly to the small cloud island.
Hahlos darts behind him and sees his friend making his way towards him. He clenched his teeth so tightly that they began to crack. Before Stark could get any closer, Hahlos leaped off the cloud and fell below. The gray haired boy stopped at the edge of the clouds and looked down with widened eyes.
"What are you doing?! HAHLOS!"
The air pressure was strong. It was causing massive amounts of physical pain to Hahlos' body. It didn't help that the winds were harsh and water poured all over his body. His wings began to twitch, as if they were about to vanish anytime. He struggled as he pushed through the unusual weather.
He started to feel his energy drain as he entered the new environment. But he was still several miles high in the sky and nowhere near the bottom. But he grits his teeth as the boy lets out a groan of pain. During this, he began to suddenly get a surge of energy in his body through his emotions.
Hahlos lets out a yell and opens his eyes wide. His body glows yellow as his speed increases tenfold, leaving a yellow trail behind him. It wasn't long until he reached the bottom, landing on the rough ground and creating a small crater in the process.
He heaved and collapsed on his knees. His body was completely drained of energy. But he didn't have time to rest as Hahlos slowly stood back up, noticing that his wings had vanished. Despite the gloomy weather, he saw greenery. Strange green clouds on top of large sticks. Water coming from above instead of below his feet. But he also saw a small settlement with wooden houses torn apart with some flames remaining as the water washed most of them out.
Hahlos stumbled a couple steps, it wasn't time to discover the new world. He quickly ran to the destroyed village he recognized too clearly.
"CARINE!" Hahlos called out. "CARINE! WHERE ARE YOU!" He checked inside the houses, behind debris and even inside bushes. Yet for some reason, there was no one to be seen, not even a single body. The village was destroyed, but it appeared as if no land walker was attacked.
He stood in the main street, drenched in water. His adrenaline was wearing off as he began to calm down. Perhaps the village believed her and they all evacuated? Even when he called out, not a single person appeared.
But as quickly as he began to calm down, his anxieties shot up again as he noticed a knocked over wagon. And a very familiar body was underneath it.
Hahlos stared deadpan at the wagon for what seemed like an eternity, the only noise being the loud splashing of the water. He was afraid to walk over and check who it was. But the outfit they were wearing was very familiar, as well as the hair color.
He forced his body to slowly make its way towards the body. His feet splashing the puddles each step. As he got closer and closer, the figure appeared more recognizable. His stomach began to turn, his hopes were crushed in an instant.
Carine was there, laying on her stomach. With no wings or halo, and a blast mark on her back.
Hahlos fell to his knees, staring at his friend who laid. He gently shook her, but it was already cold. He spots Carine's star shaped crystal necklace laying next to her, the strip appearing to have been cut off. He gently picked it up and clenched it tightly. At this very moment, a certain phrase rang in his mind.
"Don't worry! I'll be fine! After all, the future is on my side!"
The boy cries angrily as he slammed his fists on the ground, causing more water to splash. Many questions rang in his mind. Why didn't he tag along? Why did he let her leave? Why is it just Carine that's here? Many regrets and confusion piled up as the green haired boy screamed out loudly.
But he had no time to mourn, as he picked up several footsteps coming his way. He overheard people speaking as they made their way closer to the destroyed village. The boy slowly looked up and to his left, he spotted several land dwellers in blue and white robes. The robes bore a cross symbol as each individual held a staff.
"Another destroyed village…" A man lamented. "They're always one step ahead of us!"
"But the town had already evacuated." Another man pointed out. "Just what are those bastards after?! Did they destroy the village to send a message?"
A man wearing a white cape who was in front of the large group sighed. "Either way, this is still a major blunder on the Council if they keep getting away with this…"
Hahlos realized that the group was searching the village. Panicking, he tried to pull Carine's body out of the wagon and make his escape. However, she would not budge. The amount of pulling he did caused a lot of noise which quickly got the attention of the large group searching the area.
"Who's there?!" A man called out, pointing his staff towards the two and emitting a light. What the light revealed caught the Council members off guard. Hahlos stared at the man with a distraught expression.
"A boy…with a halo?"
"There's another person, under the wagon!"
Two Council members said as they began to approach Hahlos. The man with the cape swung his arm as his cape blew. The robed men slammed their staffs on the ground and summoned runes around the two angels, trapping them.
"Our apologies." The captain took a few steps closer. "But we need to ask you some questions…"
Hahlos reached his hand out at the runes and realized that he was sealed inside. He quickly stood up and backed away, feeling intimidated by the captain. Acting quickly, he summoned his wings and prepared to take off.
The captain squinted his eyes. "Halo and wings? Is he some sort of angel?" He thought before noticing the boy about to take off. "It's useless, you cannot escape the rune knight's magic!"
But the angel didn't listen as his body began to glow yellow like before. He took one more look at Carine and clenched his teeth, it was far too late for her. He took off to the sky and slammed as hard as he could on the rune sealing.
While colliding with the barrier, it sent an electrical rebound as Hahlos dug deeper. The captain widened his eyes, noticing the barrier slowly cracking. Before he could order his troops to seal him again, Hahlos broke through and was gone in a blink of an eye.
"What on Earthland was that?!" The captain exclaimed. He narrowed his eyes down at the body of the deceased girl.
With the help of his newly acquired magic, Hahlos was able to reach back to Exahelm in no time. He flew right through the clouds and crashed back down. As he landed on the floofy substance, he bounced off of it and landed again, sliding a couple feet.
Hahlos coughed several times. He was certainly out of energy now, only being able to leave his wings open. His abrupt entrance caused a stir as many civilians were surprised seeing the boy show up.
"Carine…f-forgive me…" Hahlos lamented, slamming his face on the ground as fresh tears leaked from his eyes.
After making a scene with his entrance, several Exahelm soldiers began to surround Hahlos as he lifted his head up. The soldiers pointed spears at the boy, but he didn't react as he was already aware what was going to happen.
"Many apologies, young man." A young male obese soldier stood in front of Hahlos and bent down. "But thou is under arrest, please come with us."
As two soldiers forcefully pulled Hahlos up by his arms, the boy spotted Stark leaning his back on a nearby wall as he stared at him with lowered brows. Once their eyes met, the glasses-wearing boy looked away and adjusted his lens.
The soldiers proceeded to take Hahlos away to Exahelm castle for questioning.
The rest of the day went by in a flash for Hahlos. He was interrogated for hours by the soldiers. He admitted to them about going down to the world below as well as using magic. Mainly his sudden boost of flight when he went below due to the nature of his Clairvoyance being hard to explain.
Due to his honest and proper behavior without any resistance, Hahlos was only given a hefty ticket instead of being arrested. However due to the large fine, the boy wasn't sure if he would be able to pay it off within 24 hours. As Hahlos was about to be escorted out of the room, he and the soldier interrogating him heard a loud thud outside the room.
The soldier opens the door and widens his eyes. The source of the noise was none other than the country's ruler and God; Izanagi. His bright golden halo and lucious silver wings are on full display. He was on the floor rubbing his head, it appeared as if he slipped and fell.
"L-lord Izanagi!" The soldier exclaimed, running out the room to check on him. Hahlos slowly walked out of the room and spotted the two. As much as it was a surprise seeing the god, the boy was clearly too out of it from all the events today as he stared deadpan at the two.
Izanagi groaned and raised a hand at the soldier, signaling to him that he was okay. He stood up and narrowed his eyes on the ground. "What's with these wet puddles? Someone could slip off these and break their neck, you know!" He chastises the soldier.
"M-m-my apologies, my lord!" The soldier saluted. "We were escorting a boy who was drenched in water earlier. He was caught in illegal magic activity!"
Izanagi rubbed the back of his head again as his eyes met with Hahlos' baggy purple eyes. "Right, I heard about that. But why is he drenched in water?"
"You see sir…uh…" The soldier hesitated. He leaned closer to the god and whispered in his ear about the allegations of the boy going down to the world below. During this, Hahlos continued to stand in place before his eyes flashed blue abruptly.
Izanagi leaned back and raised an eyebrow. "I see…but how is that even possible?" He wondered. He glanced at the boy again and took one step towards him.
"You shouldn't walk there." Hahlos advised. "You'll slip and fall on your face, causing a nosebleed."
"Huh?" Puzzled the god. He took the step anyway and proceeded to slip on the puddly floor. He fell on his face and let out a yelp of pain.
"Lord Izanagi!" The soldier panicked.
The sky god shot his head up and hovered a hand over his nose. He realized that he hit his nose on the ground and it began to bleed. He gawked back at Hahlos, not fully paying attention to his pain as the boy quickly looked away.
Izanagi wiped his nose, shook his head and stood up again. He turned his head at the soldier. "I would like to speak to this boy, alone. And get someone to clean this floor!"
Hahlos snapped his head back at Izanagi and had a look of confusion. The soldier saluted the god and flew off. Izanagi turned his head back at the green haired boy.
"Come, I want to hear your story. Let's talk somewhere private."
