The next morning…
Hiccup felt like dragon dung when he woke up.
His head felt like it was being hammered down repeatedly as he stumbled out of bed from his party last night. The heir to the tribe and Haddock Clan was officially a man since he was given his tattoo and was shown to be the true future leader when that time came. But as much as much as Hiccup feels pride, he feels incredibly sick. Is this the feeling known as a hangover? Thor's Hammer, no wonder so many adults are grumpy after a night of partying. He may never want to drink again after this, Odin really made Vikings pay the piper.
"Bud, time to get up." Hiccup moaned as he looked at himself in the mirror and looked like a complete mess.
GROAN…
Great, Toothless was hungover, too. He looked to his dragon to see that Toothless would rather sleep all day than dare to meet his latest enemy, the day. The sun was mocking them both with its light, telling them they had no choice but to get up and start the day.
"Bud… come on. We need to go and see the others… start dragon training academy." Hiccup moaned but did not feel up to it himself.
GROAN…
"Bud-."
ROAR!
He looked at his dragon and saw Toothless was in no mood to leave his bed.
"Who knew a dragon could be hungover?" Gobber laughed as Hiccup's headache grew worse.
"Not so loud…" Hiccup pleaded as he saw Gobber, Stoick, and Thornado inside the house.
Stoick laughed at his son for he remembered his first drink. The chief could have his fair share of stories for the boy, but Hiccup was not in the mood today. Well… time to do what his father did for him when he was Hiccup's age.
"Son, or every member of our clan, after we are welcomed as men or women, we suffer from our first hanger over. I did as well when I was a young man." Stoick tells his son then places a hand on his shoulder, "And I will help you just as my own father helped me…"
At the lake…
Hiccup and Toothless were tossed into the coldest lake on Berk by his father and Thornado!
"Ahh! Cold! Cold!" The boy whimpered as he was thrashing in the water with his dragon as they were trying to get out.
Gobber was laughing greatly at the sight. For the favorite thing about Vikings with hangovers was watching them being flung into the pools and floundering about trying to get out. It was one of the few joys that Gobber could not help himself to. After all, it would be the best show on berk to watch hungover Vikings and dragons being flung into a frozen lake. It brought so much laughter and joy to Berk, they take their comedy where they can get it when they are in the middle of nowhere.
"Good that means it's working. Ready the buckets, boy." Stoick ordered his dragon as they tossed more buckets of icy cold water on them.
"Dad! Stop! It's cold!" Hiccup shouted as he tried to use his hands to shield his face from the water.
Afterwards…
Despite not being a fan of it, the cold-water trick seemed to have worked for him as his hangover seemed to lessen greatly.
"Woof, feeling a lot better." Hiccup admitted to his father as their dragons followed them.
"Aye, nothing works better than a quick dunk into the ice-cold lakes that reside on our island. Perfect for ridding a headache and energizing you for the day." Stoick agreed as they were returning to the Dragon Academy, only to see there would be a bit more people than usual.
Hiccup saw his aunt Swift talking with the dragon riders as she seemed very interested in their reptile friends.
"Woah, what's going on?" Hiccup wondered.
"Um… we might be getting a lot more students, Hiccup. Everyone in the tribe wants to enroll." Fishlegs informed his friends.
