Yeah, I've read Oriko Magica. It was very endearing. Many facepalms were had. I thought maybe I could do something with these two losers.
Timeline 101. Thursday, 24 March 2011, 10:00 PM.
For the first time in a long time, Mikuni Oriko felt warmness within her heart. Despite being a disgraced daughter of a now-dead disgraced politician, her best friend's mother did not hesitate to let her stick around the Kure residence. Oriko could not figure out why her best (and only) friend – Kure Kirika – was reluctant to bring her here.
Oriko, on her lonesome, could not figure out how to keep her already-worn house warm throughout the winter. So Oriko had to swallow her already-meager pride for once and crash at Kirika's house.
Originally, she was only staying until winter was over, but she found herself reluctant to leave as the season gradually started to shift to spring. Oriko appreciated the company that Kirika has provided.
Not having to cook her own food may have also been the reason as well.
This warmth was soon replaced with dread. Oriko grimaced at the dreadful feeling that comes when she realizes that all of these simple amenities in life could be taken away if she were to not prepare for the threat that would soon plunge Mitakihara Town, and possibly the whole world, into destruction.
Roughly a little over half a week ago, Oriko, desperate to find her purpose in life, made a contract with Kyubey , only to be soon assailed with visions from the future — visions of destruction.
On that same day, she found Kirika, who happens to have formed a contract on the same day as well, and became fast friends.
Yes, it has only been a little over half a week since they became friends, and they're already having sleepovers.
As for the details of this threat, Oriko at the time did not know much. After the first vision, she had been receiving uncontrolled, albeit relatively trivial visions that told her nothing of the threat that would destroy this town that they live in.
The thought of Kirika on her side calmed her down somewhat. If she were to face this threat, then at least she would not be alone in this.
Speaking of the other girl…
Kirika entered her…no, their room with a couple of near-comically large glasses of water.
"Hey, Oriko. Had another vision?" asked Kirika,
Oriko shook her head. "No, just a little dreadful on what is to come."
"Whatever it is, just know that I'll always be on your side!" said Kirika, as she put down the water on the bedside table.
Oriko couldn't help but smile at Kirika's display of fidelity. "I know you will."
As Kirika sat down right next to Oriko, she asked. "Say, Oriko, do you…still get visions even in your dreams?"
"I do, but thankfully it merely consumes a meager amount of my magic."
"How meager?" Kirika asked cautiously as she shuffled her pocket for something.
"Almost negligible."
"If you say so." said Kiriki as she pulled something out of her pocket and dropped a couple of grief seeds right next to the glasses of water, "Just don't turn into a witch in my house, got it?" she then demanded half-jokingly.
Oriko's smile turned into a smirk. "Wouldn't even dream of it."
Sharing a bed, both girls fell asleep rather quickly as soon as both of them got comfortable.
For the first time in a long time, despite everything, Oriko slept peacefully that night. Dreaming of, or rather, seeing visions of a magical girl with pink hair, clad in white dress. A magical girl that would bring salvation.
Ooo foreshadowing...
