Kung Lao decided to return to Angbotain, still perplexed by Jade's reaction to his desire to make things official. "Maybe she isn't ready to be in a committed relationship? I should have asked her that," he thought to himself. "She probably believes I'm pushing things too quickly."
Lao walked down the hallway and noticed Jade's room door slightly open. He decided he was going to confront her about the odd encounter they had this morning. Slowly he crept to the door and knocked slightly "Jade?" He called out while gently pushing. After he fully open the door he saw Kitana rebelling through Jade drawer
"Hey Kung Lao, you just missed her." Kitana said while holding a charger she got from the drawer. "She's on set right now."
"Hey Kitana I saw the door open so I just thought she was here. Anyways thanks for letting me know."
"No problem."
After taking a few steps Lao decided to turn back to ask Kitana a few questions. Kitana was exiting Jade room and shutting the door by the time Lao approached her
"Hey sorry to bother you. Do you have a few minutes to talk? It's about Jade if you're comfortable with that."
"Sure I have a few minutes to spare."
Kitana and Lao walked around Angbotain and spoke about her best friend
"I'm not sure why she reacted that way, but I know she adores you. Jade is constantly on guard, especially when it comes to her heart. She's one of the strongest women I know, yet heartbreak hurts everyone. I'm not sure whether it's my place to tell you this, so I won't go into detail, but she dated this man before Tomas and he was literally the love of her life. They were discussing engagement, indicating how serious their relationship was. Even though they eventually decided to end things, she still thinks about him on occasion."
"Really?" Lao said in disbelief.
"Yes, but don't we all get flashbacks about our ex-partners? I remember thinking about Liu Kang even when I was dating Subzero for the first time. However, this has changed and little by little I forgot about him. All that matters now is the affection that Subzero shows me, and I'm grateful for him. Jade will show up; she just needs time. She is most likely thinking of you right now."
Sighing Kung Lao responded "Well I'm not too sure about that. It seems like I'm the only one crazy for her."
"Oh she's equally crazy in love with you too. Especially after last night's performance."
Both Kung Lao and Kitana laughed at this joke.
"Thank you for the talk Kitana. I appreciate it. I won't give up on her unless theirs a reason to."
"Of course, If it's meant to happen, it will. My advice is to give her some room. I promise she will come back." After this statement Kung Lao and Kitana hugged and departed ways
5 Days later
A few days passed, it was Kung Lao's turn to film his chapter. Even though he hadn't spoken to Jade since their sexual encounter, he knew the two would ultimately cross paths because his chapter was exactly after hers.
While making his way on set he saw Jade walking out the makeup and wardrobe trailer. Lao heart started to beat fast the moment he saw her. He wanted to shout her name but decided to restrain and continue walking to his set.
"Shaolin!"
Hearing this, Kung Lao came to a halt and turned towards Jade. He noticed the golden skin Edenian racing towards him with a smile.
"Hey!" She said while embracing him.
"Hey." Lao answered by encircling her waist with his hands. Her perfume's fragrance reminded him of their first date.
"I'm sorry I haven't gotten in touch with you. I've been busy with filming and thinking about everything. I know you must be upset."
"I'm not upset; I understand that filming can be stressful. You don't have to apologize for pausing to reflect. I believe I should be the one apologizing; it appeared as if I was smothering you, which was not my intention."
"You weren't smothering me, I know my reaction my have seem that way. Do you want to go on a date? I have a lot to tell you and miss spending time with you." Said Jade
Kung Lao was surprised and grinned brightly, "I'd love to. What day did you have in mind?"
"How about next Tuesday around 7 p.m.? I know you're now filming your chapter, so I didn't want to interfere."
"That's perfect." My last scheduled day is Monday, so Tuesday is great. "I'll see you then."
"I can't wait." Jade said while smiling then began to walk away.
Kung Lao called her name before she completely left. "Oh, Jade." I almost forgot." Lao then approached her and spoke again. He didn't want to utter what he was going to say out loud. He feared that yelling it would make her uncomfortable. "Hey, I noticed you left your scarf at my house when you came over. It's in my suite. You can come and get it whenever you want, or I can drop it off in your room."
"Oh, I knew I'd forgotten about it somewhere. Sure, drop it off at my room whenever you have time. Thank you for keeping it safe for me." And with that, they parted ways.
Monday
Kung Lao's part was filmed for the last time today, and he couldn't wait to meet up with Jade tomorrow. After his set, he chose to bring her scarf and a rose to her suite. He knew that women love flowers and wanted to brighten up her day.
Lao was done recording after 8:00 p.m., and he hoped that Jade was in her room. Upon arriving at her suite he knocked on the door a few times but no one answered. "Hey, looking for Jade?"
Kung Lao turned around and saw Jax exiting his suite which was located right next to Jades.
"Yea. Have you seen her?" Lao asked
"Yeah, she was just here 30 minutes ago. She told me that she had to go to Outworld to meet with someone."
"Outworld?…. Alright, thanks for telling me." The Shaolin monk placed the flowers and scarf on the front door of Jade's property and started to leave. He was now curious about why Jade went to Outworld so often and, most importantly, who she was going to see.
Kung Lao was divided. A part of him wanted to believe Jade, but another part remembered what Tanya said. Is it true that Jade intends to rekindle her relationship with a man in Outworld? Lao knows he cannot know for certain and, after much thought, decides to take his risks.
