Eris stared at the doctor, still in shock as Clark tried to pick up his mess.

"But, I've had no signs." She whispered out to herself, hands subconsciously coming to rest over her belly.

"Some don't until further in." The doctor set the clipboard down and dragged a chair over to her side. He sat down and looked her in the eye.

"Since you had no clue, I'd like to do an ultrasound to make sure everything is alright. We'll see how far you are and go from there." At her nod he got up and left to get the necessary equipment needed.

Eris looked over to Clark as he finished throwing the glass away.

He was at her side instantly, hand moving to her stomach as he focused fully on the spot.

"It's there. I can hear the heartbeat. How did I not notice sooner?" He choked out, voice lodging in his throat.

Eris giggled weakly. "We've had a lot going on, Clark. It's an easy miss."

Clark chuckled softly and the two of them basked in the silence of the room.

The doctor came back wheeling in a machine they haven't seen in nine years. Oh boy. Here we go again.

Her abdominal muscles jumped at the coolness from the gel, then the doctor began his examination.

"Sorry. Should have warned you." The doctor chuckled and Eris waved him off.

"This isn't our first rodeo." She smiled softly down at her stomach as the doctor began searching for their baby.

"Everything looks healthy." The doctor smiled as he paused the wand on her lower abdomen.

Eris and Clark both looked on in awe as the little blob became visible.

"Strong heartbeat. Looks like you are around ten or eleven weeks. Congratulations."

"How should we tell the boys?" Clark asked softly later that night as they settled down in bed.

Eris couldn't stop touching her stomach. The dopey smile never left her face.

Clark smiled lovingly at her as he watched her.

He couldn't keep his hands to himself.

His large hands drew her to his front as they laid down for the night.

She reached over and turned the lamp off before settling back against him, his chest firmly to her back.

His large hand spread out over hers, linking their fingers together.

"Until this moment, I never realized how much I really want another kid with you." He whispered into the base of her neck. "I want this so bad."

Eris carded her fingers through his hair, scratching lightly at his scalp.

"We've tried for more before, and nothing ever happened." She whispered softly and closed her eyes. "I thought the boys were it for us."

Clark pressed kiss after kiss to her throat as he trailed them up towards her lips.

"I love you." He whispered out before kissing her, large hands tugging her as close as he physically could.

Eris sat shivering on the metal bleachers next to Lois and Chrissy. Her grip on her umbrella tightened and she drew her blanket further around her shoulders as best as she could with one hand.

"This cold is freezing my balls off, man." She grumbled into the soft fabric of the blanket she had wrapped around her shoulders and smiled as Lois pressed a little closer to her side.

"You don't even have balls." Lois laughed and Chrissy joined in.

"Your man sure does though." Chrissy teased and Eris blushed.

"Are we still teasing me with the pregnancy jokes? Come on guys. It's been a week since I told you." She pouted over at her sister and friend.

Lois went to speak only to lock onto something in front of them.

Eris lowered her gaze and frowned when she saw Morgan Edge walk past them with Kyle. His eyes found hers and she glared.

"Ugh. He's got a lot of nerve coming here. He totally tried to have you two killed." Chrissy spoke quietly as she too glared after the man.

Lois ground her teeth together and placed her free hand on her sister's trembling thigh. "We can't prove it though."

Eris bit her lip. "I could have lost my baby." She whispered out quietly before pressing her face into Lois' shoulder, seeking her warmth and comfort.

Lois pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"He's only here tonight because the town votes tomorrow about his mining rights. He wants this town to see him as a man who cares about the lives of its people, and to see him as the man who keeps pumping money into this town." Lois said as she rubbed soothing circles into the fabric of Eris' leggings.

"Oh, wow. They really pack you in here, huh?"

Eris sat up straight, head shooting to her left as their dad sat down next to her.

"Dad?" Lois was just as confused as she was.

"I know it's a surprise, but Clark told me it was the boys first home game. I had to come see it." He said as he adjusted the umbrella he was holding.

Eris smiled. Despite their arguments lately, their dad still cared for the boys immensely.

"You never came to any of my games." Lois grumbled.

Eris took a deep breath and heard her father take one too before he squinted off into the distance. "Wait... is that, Clark?"

Eris grinned. "Yup!" She giggled as her dad looked at her in total confusion.

"He wanted to be with the boys more, and he does love his sports. The school gave him a probationary coaching assistant position. If all goes well, he'll be hired full time next semester and will actually get paid for it." She grinned and continued to watch the game.

She cheered as Jordan scored. She could feel his gaze burning into the side of her head.

Sam cornered Eris after they had gotten home. He had her cornered against the kitchen sink.

"There something you want to tell me?" He ground out. How could you not tell me?"

"What? So, he's good at Soccer, so what?" She tried to play it off.

Sam bit back his anger as best as he could. "But he's not!" He threw his hands to the side.

"The kid weighs twenty pounds soaking wet. Never was interested in school let alone sports, and now? Suddenly he's out there playing and making friends like that?" He growled and pointed an accusatory finger in her face. "That kid has powers, and you didn't tell me."

"Him having powers didn't make him suddenly want to join sports or school, dad. That was his decision. He was tired of being different. He wanted to be with his brother." Eris hissed.

"Is this why you moved to Smallville? Because of his powers?" He asked and backed off a little.

Eris' face pinched in annoyance. "No! We moved here because we didn't want to lose the farm! Because Jon was being bullied relentlessly at his old school and this? This family needed a new start." She heaved out a heavy breath and her shoulders sagged.

"Listen, dad. I know you don't approve of any of this. Of my love for Clark and our family, but you have to stop... All of this. We are here. We are trying so hard to be a happy family and it just seems like you only care about Superman and his goddamn loyalties. Clark may be Superman and he may not be human, but he has been on this planet since he was less than a couple months old. He is just as human as the rest of us." She has tried. She has tried so many times to get him to see this from her and Clark's side of things, but his military... Everything! Just gets in the way.

"The Clark family needs to fly under the radar." He growled.

"The boys need to have a life! Dad, Clark and I can handle this." Eris stressed out as she glared at her father.

Sam scuffed. "How? By coaching the team?"

Eris shook her head and threw her hands up in exasperation. "By being a father! Something you don't seem to know shit about!" She cried out, tears filling her eyes.

"I don't like his priorities changing." He said, taking a step away from the angry woman.

Eris clenched her fists. "It's called being a father."

Sam shook his head and sighed. "Oh, for Christ's sake. Enough!"

The sound of the front door opening and closing had Eris looking over her dad's shoulder.

Clark came into the kitchen, and he took a quick glance around. Why did all of these conversations always take place in their kitchen?

"You're right." He paused as he eyed Sam, walking around him and coming to rest beside his wife, who instantly grabbed onto his arm for comfort. "That's enough."

Clark made sure that he had Sam's full attention before continuing. "Look... We appreciate your concern, we really do. But we know what we are doing."

Sam's face furrowed. "Do you?" He took a step forward. "There is an armored nut job on the loose who wants you dead." He pointed angrily towards Clark's chest. "And your priorities seem to be-"

"Being here for my family? Coaching my sons?" Clark cut him off, mouth downturned as he glared. "There are nut jobs who want to kill me all the time, Sam. Never was a problem before."

Sam shook his head and backed off. "You have to understand, Clark. The military is terrified of you. They note any and all changes in Superman's routine and I am the one who keeps them in check."

Eris frowned. "Yes. And we are very grateful for that, dad, but-"

"Moving out of Metropolis raised a red flag. No one is seeing you in the skies. Crime rates are up and the higher ups want to transfer high risk inmates out of Metropolis Penitentiary. Because Superman isn't around, they are more vulnerable to attacks." Sam ground out and Eris bit her lip.

"So, you want him to babysit a prison? Where the hell did this come from dad? Completely out of nowhere?" She paused. "You weren't here for the boy's game, were you? You came here to ask Clark to help with this." She whispered in shock.

"Just..." Sam locked eyes with Clark. "Just a show of good faith and escort the transfer. They are moving Thaddeus Killgrave. The psycho genius who got radicalized for hating you."

Clark sighed and looked down just as Eris looked up. Their eyes met and she gave a small nod.

"I'll listen in. If anything goes wrong, I will be there, but I will not take time away from my family for a show of good faith."

Sam sighed. "So, you are going against my advice?"

Clark shrugged his shoulders, hand tightening on Eris' waist slightly. "I don't work for you, Sam."

Sam heaved a heavy sigh and gazed at his daughter. "Fine. Just a new day in the Kent house. Mind if I stick around this weekend? I brought a bag. Maybe it'll be easier around here if I pitch in."

Sam turned to head for the door and Eris made his pause.

"Dad. For the sake of this family, and the sake of your possible relationship to your unborn grandchild, I beg you, to keep the work talk and the Superman talk down. Clark will always help when it comes to serious threats, but this family comes first and foremost."

Sam turned back slowly, eyes wide in shock before his gaze drifted down to her stomach, where Clark's fingers were spread wide.

Eris hummed softly to herself as she worked on her latest chapter of her book. Her editor wanted the first half of the book sent to him before the end of the month and she was on a roll.

She had tried something different with her last book, an action romance about a human-like alien falling in love and becoming a hero. Sadly, she had to change some things around so no one knew it was based on her real-life love story, but it had blown up.

So much so that she was working on a sequel.

She paused as the sound of boots echoed into her office space and bounced off the walls. She glanced up when they paused at her door.

Her eyes narrowed. "Eris Clark. Just the woman I was looking for."

Eris saved her draft and closed her laptop. She folded her hands over her desk and leaned forward.

"Morgan Edge. Just what have I done to deserve your presence?" She asked softly, keeping her face neutral.

She tilted her head and gestured for him to come in. This man was dangerous. She had to be careful.

"I'm only here to ask you to warn your sister." He spoke politely. His British accent was thicker than she had thought it would have been. Very posh sounding.

"Warn her? Whatever about?" Her brow furrowed in obviously fake concern. If he wanted to play coy, so could she.

Edge eyed her form up and down. She had to bite back a shutter of disgust.

"She's messing with something she doesn't understand."

Eris gave a nod and sat back. "Uh-huh. And what does she just not understand? She's just watching out for the town that her family lives in and cares about?"

Edge grinned and without another word, he turned around and left.

Eris took a quick glance at her watch and let out a startled yelp.

Crap, the voting started soon. Lois would kill her if she and Clark were late. Clark had agreed to speak out against Edge for Lois and Eris wanted to be there for him, for Lois too of course. She grinned to herself. She was still so very helplessly in love with her man.

Eris bit her lip as she gazed around and glanced down at her phone.

"Still nothing?" Lois asked softly, biting at her nails nervously.

"No. I'm sorry, Lois. Something must have happened that needed Superman." Eris whispered out softly.

They slowly walked down the stairs so that they could watch the vote easier.

"No, I understand. I do. But this was our only chance." Lois whispered and looked down sadly.

When the vote passed, Eris, Lois, and Chrissy all sagged in despair. Crap.

Eris stood in shock in the living room. Her boys were passed out on the couch, tv blaring a Marvel movie she didn't recognize at first until she saw Antman pop onto the screen. Ah. Right. She never saw those movies. He hadn't been her favorite.

She gazed around with a frown. Where did her dad go? He was supposed to watch them.

Killgrave was on the loose and Clark was out there looking for him. Did her dad leave to go do his job and not even tell her first?

A knock to the front door made her jump, hand coming up to cover her heart.

She sighed and made her way to the front door.

She opened it to see a small Asian boy standing before her.

"Is Jordan home?" He was grabbing at his arm, teeth grinding together in pain.

"You must be Tag. Jordan's new friend. What are you doing out here so late? Do your parents know you are here?" She asked softly as she bent down to his level.

"Mom?"

Eris turned and stood up once more to face her son. Jordan was wiping the sleep out of his eyes.

"I need his help." The boy whispered followed by a groan of pain and a yelp.

She spun around and watched in utter shock as the boy's arm began to vibrate and shake at an incredibly fast rate.

"Please! I don't know what is happening and he's the only one I know who is like me!" He begged as he cried.

Eris ushered the boy inside and rushed to grab the ELT.

"It's okay, Tag. We're gonna help you alright?" She spoke softly as she tried to reassure the boy.

Jordan gently took the boys arm and held it in his own hands as he tried his best to comfort the boy.

Eris let out a scream as she watched Jordan fly through the air as Tag moved his arm. He had barely even moved, and Jordan had gone flying.

She hit the switch on the ELT and rushed over to her son's side as he staggered out of the hole in the wall, not hurt in the slightest.

"Tag. Shhh. You need to just calm down. Take a deep breath for me. Come on, in... and out... In... and out. There you go." She encouraged softly and let out a sigh as Clark arrived to help.

As Clark held the sobbing Tag in his arms, Jon walked into the room and yawned. He froze at the scene he was greeted with.

"What did I miss?"

"So... Where's Tag now? Jordan asked after they finished eating breakfast.

Eris stood near the sink washing their dishes while Clark and the boys sat at the table. Her father was standing at the head of the table as he stretched his knees.

"He's at the hospital at the DOD."

Eris gave a nod and spoke up. "Apparently they are going to take real good care of him and get him the help he needs to understand his powers."

Clark nodded in agreement. "What I don't understand is how he knew about your powers, Jordan." Clark raised a brow as the boy fiddled in place.

"Tag was involved in some sort of weird explosion when one of the kids at this get together made a small bomb out of some weird chemicals outside. He broke his arm and everything. I... um... I might have walked into the bathroom at school and saw him freaking out like he did last night. I told him everything would be okay and that he wasn't alone." Jordan mumbled as he looked down at his lap. "It's why I asked mom if he could visit a few days ago. I figured we could help him."

"Why didn't you come to us right away? You know I would have helped." Clark spoke softly, eyeing his two boys in shock.

They both turned slowly to gaze at their grandfather, which had Eris turning around and glaring at her father.

"I had my team digging into that explosion. There was a material present other than those chemicals the kid used for the bomb. We think that he got his powers from a combination of those chemicals and a strange crystal that was found on scene."

Clark frowned. "How come no one heard of the explosion, especially if kids were involved?"

Eris just scuffed. "Because he covered it up."

Sam frowned. "We could not have it getting out that there were alien rocks involved, Eris. I did it to protect you and the boys."

Eris wiped her hands down on her apron. "Right. So, telling our boys to not bother Clark, that was only to protect them as well?" She hissed and took a deep breath to try and calm herself down.

"Boys..." Eris growled out between clenched teeth. "Go play outside please."

She waited patiently as they both exchanged looks before bolting out of the house.

Eris made her way to the living room and knew the other two men had followed her.

She crossed her arms and waited for her dad to speak. He leaned heavily against the fireplace. "Look. I may have misspoke."

"Misspoke?!" Clark nearly shouted. "You cannot tell our boys that they can't come to me for help!"

"My point was to help the boys see the life and death stakes of your job." Sam said as he pushed away from the fireplace.

Clark strode forward. "My job..." He stressed the word. "Is that I am their dad. That is my job."

Sam scuffed. "You are not just their dad! You are the most important person in the world, and now that they know that, they need to respect the obligation that comes with it."

Eris stood back, arms crossed and glaring at the floor as she let Clark have at it.

"I have to respect that obligation. Me. Not them. And believe me, I have to live with that every day."

"Then act like it!" Sam shouted.

"Stop!" Eris screamed out, the stress getting to her. "Just stop it." She threw her hands out to the side.

She took a few steps towards her father. "This is the same toxic, honor above all else crap you used to pull on us when we were kids."

Sam shook his head. "Eris, please. This isn't about us."

"No. It's about you and your parenting choices and how they sucked then, and they still suck now! Lois would agree with me in a heartbeat, dad. We are not going to be applying them to our boys." She ground out, tears filling her eyes, but she refused to let them fall in front of her father.

"I made a choice to dedicate my life to the armed services." He tried to defend himself.

"But you could have done both!" She cried out. "You could have been a father and have been dedicated to the country! That's what Clark is doing, and I see him struggle with it every day!" She stressed and Clark lowered his head as he gazed at his wife.

"So how fucking dare you tell him he can't be the father that he is because you never bothered to give it a go." She finished, chest heaving as she began to cry.

She wiped at her eyes and Clark reached out for her. "If you keep pushing us..." She sniffled. "Then you won't be welcomed here anymore."

Sam's face filled with dread; eyes downcast as he took in her words.

"Fine." His voice cracked and he cleared his throat. "I'll get my things. I have a long drive ahead of me."

Eris bit her lip and let the tears all as she silently cried, not wanting her father to hear.

Clark pulled her into his chest, and she melted against him as he began to rub her back as she tried to calm down.

Later that night Eris giggled as her two boys led her towards their barn.

"But why does your dad need my help with the harvester?" She asked in confusion as Jon let out a playful giggle.

"Come on mom! Can't you just play along for one and be surprised!" Jordan asked as he pushed her from behind gently.

"Alright, alright!" She paused by the barn doors and the boys waved her forward before they both took off back to the house with wide smiles.

Eris giggled once more and shook her head fondly before pushing the barn door open and stepping inside.

Her eyes widened in shock and her heart squeezed. There were candles lit everywhere.

Eris gazed around in wonder as she slowly made her way through the barn.

She smiled widely as she spotted Clark standing in the middle, surrounded by candles and standing near a blanket and a few pillows. She grinned at the picnic basket. Oh. He recreated their engagement scene.

"Madame." He spoke and offered his arm as he approached.

She let out a giggle and slid her arm through his easily.

"What is all of this?" She asked and he chuckled as he led her over to the blanket.

"Well... I was thinking about all of those date nights I have missed, and I thought we could play a little catch up. The boys were a huge help." He grinned as he helped her sit down on one of the pillows.

He sat down next to her and pulled a wine glass out of nowhere and she giggled as he poured her some Sprite.

"Oh, Clark." She cooed.

He smiled at her lovingly as he poured himself some wine and took a sip.

"Mmmm." She hummed. "You're very high on my good list right now." She grinned as she took a sip of her favorite drink.

Clark leaned forward slightly to whisper in her ear. "If you play your cards right, there might even be a message in it for you later." He kissed her right behind her ear, sweeping some hair away from her neck before pulling back to gaze at her once more.

"Now you're just spoiling me." She smiled and leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips.

He took her hands in his and leaned his forehead against hers. "You deserve to be spoiled, Eris. To to know... Beyond any doubt... No matter what is going on, or what I am up against... That this? My time with you? Is what gets me through everything else."

Tears filled her eyes, and she sniffled as she got emotional.

"My first thought of the day." He gently ran his fingers over the back of her hands. "And my last thought at night."

His eyes searched her face. He smiled and raised one hand up to cup her cheek. "I love you."

Eris opened her lips to answer him only for her phone to go off. She sighed and pulled back to pull her phone out of her pocket.

He glared down at her father's name.

"You have got to be kidding me." She pouted and Clark joined her in sighing.

"His timing is truly impeccable." Clark grumbled. He sighed once more before he answered it; putting it on speaker.

"Hey, Sam."

"Clark? Sorry to intrude." He said and actually sounded sorry for once.

"We have a situation. Not a major priority yet but my guess is that it will be within the hour. Now I was calling Eris so that she could fill you in and so that you could decide for yourself if you wanted to get involved. Is she there?" He sounded... Worried? Whether it was about the situation or from the chance that she would be upset at him still or not wasn't clear.

Eris' eyes widened and she shook her head rapidly, making an x with her arms over her chest.

Clark's brow rose and he held back a chuckle. "Ah, no. She just went to the bathroom. But I appreciate the heads up. I will let her know you called." He said before hanging up.

They both just stared down in shock at her phone. "You hung up on him." She giggled.

"Yup." Clark spoke, equally as shocked.

Eris shook her head fondly and reached out. She tugged Clark close and placed a wet one on his lips before pulling back an inch. "Go." She whispered against his lips.

Clark watched her carefully before nodding. "I'll be fast, I promise." He said as he stood up.

Eris grinned and leaned back to lay down. She spread herself out on the blanket and he bit back a groan at the sight.

"I'll be here, waiting." She giggled when he turned. "And hey!" He paused. "I love you too." She whispered and in the next second, he was gone, a few of the candles getting blown out in the process.

She bit her lip and brought her hand up to her mouth as she giggled and kicked her feet. Even to this day, she still felt like a teenager with a schoolgirl crush.

She sighed as she relaxed into the blanket beneath her. Her husband knew exactly how to woo her into a puddle of goo.
