I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUTOUT TO PIXARGIRL AND ABIZEAU FOR CREATING THESE CHARACTERS.
Schreave Palace. Sacramento, Province of Angeles. 3 days into the selection.
On day 3 of the selection, the group dates officially began. In a surprising turn of events, Claude-Marie had reported to Queen Ellen that the girls from Bankston, Belcourt, and Bonita had been having a cat fight. As a result, the 3 girls were promptly eliminated and put on flights for home.
As for the remaining twenty nine selected, the first group date was to be a class on ballroom dancing. It seemed pretty simple, but Queen Ellen decided to add on a twist: all of the selected would be judged on their skills and the 3 worst dancers would be eliminated. The selected were ushered into the ballroom where the dancing began. Crown Princess Sybil had never enjoyed ballroom dancing, but she knew how to because her occupation as a royal demanded it.
As everyone went through their lessons, Sybil decided to get in on the action and dance with a few of the selected herself. The first one that she paired up with was Jessica Woods. Both women curtsied to each other.
"Have you ever ballroom danced before?" The princess of Illèa inquired as she put her hand on Jessica's waist.
"I wouldn't call myself an expert or anything, but I have experience." The heart surgeon to be from Sumner explained as she put her hand in Sybil's shoulder as they began to follow the instructor who was teaching everyone to dance the cha cha cha. Sybil managed to keep her pace in time, which was an impressive feat since more often than not she danced as though she had 2 left feet. Luckily, Jessica was doing pretty all right at dancing the cha cha cha. She led the princess along as best she could until the dance came to an end and Sybil rewarded Jessica with a kiss on the lips. As she left to find another dance partner, Jessica couldn't help but imagine being kissed by another, perhaps by someone she knew.
The next dance partner that Sybil chose was Zander Radley. As she curtsied and he bowed his head, Sybil could not deny that he was indeed handsome.
"Your Highness, I have to warn you that i'm not exactly Fred Astaire." The runner from Waverly cautioned, earning a giggle from Syb.
"I'm not really in a position to pass judgement on your dancing shoes. I'm no Ginger Rodgers." The heiress to the Illèan throne admitted bashfully as Zander put his hand on her waist and Syb put her hand on his shoulder as the couple proceeded to dance a waltz. Sybil was thankful that Zander didn't make her look the fool by showing off his amazing dancing skills. They were both equally awkward as they made their way through the waltz.
"Oh, I'm sorry your highness:" Zander said as he accidentally stepped on her toes.
"Eh, I'm a big girl, I can take it." Sybil said as he smiled back at him. She couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of being in his arms and was forlorn when it came to an end.
"Despite a few hiccups, I enjoyed dancing with you." Sybil said with a grin.
"So did I, your highness." Zander replied as he leaned in and gave her a peck on the lips; causing Sybil's cheeks to turn bright pink.
As the dance lessons began to wind down, Queen Ellen announced that the girls from Calgary and Carolina, as well as the boy from Clermont ranked the lowest and therefore, were eliminated. They were shown the door and booked flights. Meanwhile, the final dance of the group date was to be a tango. Sybil decided to share it with Jane Topswell. Both ladies curtsied to each other.
"I hope that you're better at dancing than I am." The princess of Illèa chuckled.
"I'm all right your highness, let's tango." The college student from Dominica declared as she took the lead and pulled Sybil close as the tango begins.
"I like it when someone else takes charge." Sybil says as they dance.
"Thank you your highness, I'm glad." Jane replied with a smile as they move in almost perfect time with the music.
"I hope this isn't too forward…but you're really pretty." Sybil said as she could tell that Jane felt shock and possibly embarrassed. However, she hoped that Jane also felt flattered as she glanced around to see if there are any cameras before responding, "I bet that's what you say to all the Selected. Syb."
"Some, not all and you're one of them." Sybil assured Jane as she looked in her eyes.
"Well there's twenty six of us left, odds are some of us aren't going to be hot," she said as she tried not to feel something by the compliment. "Thanks."
"Jane…do you think I'm attractive?" Syb asked hesitantly. "It's ok if you don't. I know not everyone likes the whole Butch thing."
"Honestly, yeah. The whole tomboy princess is cliche, but it's not a deal breaker if you like the stuff and not just to 'be different'." Jane assured the princess as they tangoed. "You're cute, Billie."
"Thank you." Syb would say with a blush as she held Jane tightly, enjoying the moment.
