Luna leaned back against the railing contemplating the last seven years of her life. They had certainly been interesting and exhilarating she could not deny.
She had entered alone and basically friendless. Afraid to talk about the bullying she was suffering from and now with graduation over she would be going into the world with friends, a pair of lovers, and a sense of confidence from helping destroy the Dark Lord.
She stroked her pet rabbit's fur. Chuckling softly to herself as the creature gazed angrily outwards, it had learned not to scratch or bite her as the punishment would not be enjoyable, but it still simmered with repressed rage.
"I did warn you that it would be very unpleasant to cross me. Harry chose Hermione fair and square and all I did was point them in the right direction." She said softly in her no longer as flighty voice.
The rabbit squirmed causing Luna to pinch the back of its neck gently, "Struggling is not going to benefit you. I told you what the terms and conditions of your release would be and you have not accepted them."
If rabbits could growl Luna knew this one would be doing so. She tilted her head as she heard footsteps approaching. Listening she recognized them as her lovers, her friends, her family.
"Hey Luna. Its almost time to leave. Are you ready?" Harry Potter asked with his trademark grin, his bangs hanging slightly over his eyebrows as usual.
"I am prepared. I was just thinking." She replied happily. "There are so many memories I do not want to lose."
Hermione chuckled darkly, "There's quite a few I could go a long time without."
"How else can we appreciate the light if we do not have the dark?" Luna asked.
Harry slid his arm around Luna's waist to give her a kiss on the top of her head, "A good point as usual Luna."
Hermione even gave a grudging nod of admission, "I suppose. Only there was so much darkness."
Luna sighed, "I know. But that was the past. We have plenty of light and love now."
Hermione smiled as she slid her arm around her waist as well repeating Harry's actions.
"Yeah we do." Hermione agreed. "Still we better get to the boats."
"True Minerva is not going to hold them just because we're the Heroes of Hogwarts." Harry sarcastically laughed, the weight of the war off of his shoulders letting him laugh about it Luna had noticed.
"I'll be along in a moment. I want to say goodbye for one more moment."
Both of them kissed a cheek then with a laughing nod left holding hands.
"They do make a very nice couple, don't you think?" Luna looked down at the annoyed rabbit whose red eyes glared balefully at her. "Much better than the one's Dumbledore had wanted for them"
The rabbit's eyes grew wide and it gave a short high pitched squeak as Luna began to slowly walk still calmly petting it. Her voice taking a steely tone as she spoke to the furry little thing, "Oh, you didn't think I knew about that?"
Luna sighed.
"I am not surprised. You were never very observant as a human. Amazing you managed to stop any goals at all as a keeper." Luna laughed as she kept walking.
