Hi Readers: And welcome to another day of chapters. Hope you like them.

Chapter Twenty-Seven
She's Still Sleeping

They spent pretty much the entire afternoon in bed with each other, napping and just taking it easy. The reason? It seemed that Gabby was quite tired today. So, he decided to let her sleep; because if she needs sleep to feel better, than that's precisely what she's going to do. She's going to sleep and just take it easy, while Matt does something else down here in the kitchen. And just what might that be? Well, that would make him and Gabby some supper; more specifically, a stir-fry. Recently, he's been making more of them due to the fact that you can pretty much put anything you want in a stir-fry, which means that you can even include steak and other types of meat on top of some rice. And that's precisely what Matt plans on putting in the stir-fry: some nice steak and vegetables. But first, he needs to keep Kelly's hands off the steak. "Oh, steak." Walking up behind Matt, Kelly went to go grab some of it; that was, until Matt slapped his hand away from it. "HEY!" Looking at his friend, Matt shook his head. "First, keep your voice down. Gabby's sleeping."

Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "She okay?" Matt agreed with Kelly as he asked whether Gabby was okay, as she's more than okay. "She's great. However, she's just tired. She's pregnant, remember?" Kelly agreed with Matt as he reminded him that she was pregnant. "No, I don't need to be reminded that your wife is pregnant. I mean, don't get me wrong; Gabby was always a bit snippy and bossy at work but…" Turning his head, Matt pointed his knife towards Kelly. "Shut your mouth, or else you don't get supper." Placing his hand on the knife Matt was holding, Kelly pushed it down due to the fact that he doesn't want to have it in his face. "Ok. Keep your knife down and don't point it at me please." Matt agreed with Kelly as he said that, until he heard Camila come in. "Seriously Matthew? Did your mother ever treat you not to play with knives?" Turning his head, Matt looked at his mother-in-law. "Sorry Camila." Camila agreed with her son-in-law, while he went to go back to cutting the steak he already made today.

After which, Camila walked in and made her way over to him. "What are you making? It smells good." Matt smiled as he turned his head. "I'm making a stir-fry. Steak and vegetables." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that. "What do you want me to do?" Matt looked at his mother-in-law as she said that. "Camila, you don't need to…" Camila shook her head. "Matt, you already changed my life by giving me a gorgeous new home to live in. I am more than happy to help out when I can, especially when you have that baby of yours." Matt smiled. "Didn't we tell you the gender yet?" Camila shook her head, as he didn't; or, at least, she doesn't remember them telling her the gender of her grandchild. "I don't remember if you did tell me." Matt smiled. "Bella Jane Casey." Camila smiled as she heard Matt say that, before making her way over to him and hugging him. "Congratulations Matt." Matt smiled as he wrapped his arm around her and just held her close. "Thanks." He then smiled as he kissed her cheek. "Listen, I need to talk to you while we cook."

Matt agreed. "Of course. There's some celery I want to put in the stir-fry. I'm already cutting the steak. Kelly, if you want to help; then you can get some rice out and start it." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, before making his way over to the cupboards so that he can help Matt make supper. Meanwhile, Matt turned to look at his mother-in-law. "So, you said that you wanted to talk to me?" Making her way over to the knife block, Camila grabbed a knife before also grabbing a cutting board and grabbing the celery once more. "Yes, I do want to talk to you. More specifically, I want to talk to you about what's happening in 36 hours." Laughing, Kelly walked over to the nice stove that Matt had, while also looking at it. "Damn, this is a nice stove." Matt agreed with his best friend. "Yes, so don't you dare screw it up." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case as he proceeded to start heating up the pot so that he can make the rice; while Matt looked at Camila since they were in the midst of a conversation.

More specifically, a conversation related to Christmas. "Ok. So, I need to talk to you about something like I just said." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Want to let me know what this is about?" Matt sighed. "I think we need to talk about Christmas since it's in 2 days." Turning his head to look at his best friend, Kelly agreed with Matt. "Yeah, we do need to talk about that. Are you guys going to want to just celebrate as a family? Or are you going to be open to us being there too?" Looking at Kelly, Matt laughed. "Kelly, you're my brother. You're going to be at Christmas. Though, not sure whether Christie is going to be here. She got snowed in I think." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that, sighing. "I'm sorry about that Matt." Matt shook his head. "Hey, it's okay. I have the family that matters here." Kelly smiled when he said that. "Awe, thanks man." Turning his head, Matt glared at him. "I mean my wife you idiot." Kelly then realized that. "Right, that makes sense." Matt shook his head, as he can be stupid at times.

And that was one of them. Though, he wasn't going to tell him that due to the fact that he was helping him make supper. "So, what are you thinking when it comes to Christmas?" Matt sighed. "I think we need to just remember that Gabby is 15 weeks pregnant, which means that we may need to take it easy; so, not too early for breakfast and gifts. And then not too late with supper. If anything, maybe we can do Christmas dinner in the afternoon." Camila agreed. "I'm going to be starting the turkey tomorrow and just slow cook it overnight if that makes sense." Matt agreed with Camila. "Thanks, I appreciate that. I am not the best when it comes to the turkey." Kelly looked at Matt when he said that. "Have you ever cooked a turkey?" Turning his head, Matt nodded. "Christmas 2012 at the firehouse. Remember? Me and Hallie broke up and I was alone on Christmas." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, remembering. "Right, it was delicious." Matt laughed. "It was either me or Otis." Kelly got nervous as he heard Matt say that, as that scared him.

I mean, that wouldn't have been a good idea. "Yeah, thank god you made Christmas dinner then, as we both know that Otis is not a good chef." Matt agreed with Kelly as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Ok. Who's worst: Otis or Herrmann?" Kelly bit his lip. "Otis." Matt was shocked. "Really?" Kelly nodded. "Herrmann has a wife who cooks delicious food, so his stuff is at least edible, and you know it won't taste like garbage. It may be burnt, but it'll still taste good." Matt agreed with Kelly as he said that. "Otis, it'll be both burnt and it'll taste disgusting." Matt laughed, as he knew that was the case. "And it'll be some weird Russian thing that we don't even know about." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "God, I am so glad that I never have to eat that stuff ever again. I want to make sure that I stay far away from it." Matt agreed with Kelly as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know what you mean. I am just so happy that this is our life. We're out of fires, and into a bunch of fun." Kelly agreed with Matt.

After all, he already loves this life that they have here in Hawaii. "I have to say, this is a nice life that you have; can I say I have already?" Matt agreed with Kelly, as he can say that he has this life already due to the fact that this is his life now. "Yeah, this is your life now." Kelly agreed with Matt and smiled due to the fact that this is a great life. Now, it's time for them to just concentrate on the food which they were making; especially when it comes to the oil they use. "Oh, Camila. Please use the natural olive oil rather than the spray when it comes to the non-stick for the pan when you start the rice. I try and use natural ingredients for Gabby during the pregnancy." Turning his head, Kelly was surprised when he said that. "Really?" Matt nodded as that's precisely what he does. "Hey, I want to have a healthy baby when Gabby gives birth." Kelly agreed with his best friend when he said that, well aware that was the case. "I mean, we both know that. Now, how about we all get back to cooking and make sure that this is good for our ladies?"

Matt agreed with Kelly as he said that, well aware that they need to make sure that this tastes really good for their girls. Matt, for his pregnant wife; and Kelly, for his girlfriend Stella. And that's precisely what the two of them did for their ladies. They made a delicious supper for the both of them. And he can't wait to see whether Gabby likes the food, due to the fact that he wants to make sure that she has an easy time when it comes to her stomach. "Do you think that you and Gabby are going to sit down here and eat with us?" Turning his head to look at his mother-in-law, Matt sighed as he didn't know. "I'm not sure right now. I mean, are you inviting Antonio?" Camila shook her head. "I decided that I'm going to do a separate Christmas with him since I know Gabby doesn't want to see him right now. I mean, if you're okay with that." Matt agreed with Camila. "Sorry you have to do that Camila." Camila shook her head, as it's more than okay. "It's okay Matt. I promise. I promise that I can figure out a way to have Christmas with both of you."

Matt smiled, before making his way over to Camila and hugging her. After which, he pressed his lips to her forehead due to the fact that he's really happy over the fact that he's very grateful. "Do you know if your mother is coming?" Taking a breath, Matt sighed. "I'm not in a good place with my mom." Turning his head, Kelly looked at his best friend. "What happened man?" Matt sighed. "We got into a fight over the fact that I took the money that I inherited from my dad, so she agreed not to come." Camila sighed as her son-in-law told her that, due to the fact that sounds horrible. "I'm sorry Matt." Turning his head, Kelly agreed with Camila. "I'm sorry too Matt. I know that you really wanted your mom to be here." Matt agreed with Kelly and smiled due to the fact that he was glad that he had everybody here with him right now. All the people he loves are here with him this Christmas, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. He just wishes that his mom was here with him, but they can figure that out in the future. "I just hope she wants to meet her."

Confused, Kelly looked at Matt. "Hasn't she already met Gabby?" Turning his head, Matt rolled his eyes as his best friend can be so stupid at times. "Yeah, because she needs to meet my wife who she already met; who do you think I'm talking about idiot?" Looking at his best friend, Kelly was still confused. "God, you really are stupid. I'm talking about my daughter!" Kelly realized that and nodded, as it made much more sense now that he was talking about his daughter. "Sorry, I realize that now." Matt shook his head and took a breath due to the fact that his friend can really be stupid at times, which really frustrates him. "Listen, let's just keep cooking; I want this ready in a bit. Actually, Camila?" Turning her head, Camila looked at Matt. "Yes, Matt?" Matt smiled. "I need to go wake Gabby up before she sleeps too long. I want her to sleep overnight." Camila agreed with her son-in-law before looking at the time. "Go ahead, I got it." Matt agreed as he set his knife down. "The rice can go in now. I already cut up all the veggies." Camila agreed.

After which, Matt walked up to her and hugged her; prior to kissing her cheek. "Thanks for you help. Kelly, same to you." Kelly agreed with Matt, nodding as he kept cutting the stuff he needed to cut. Meanwhile, Matt walked out of the kitchen so that he could make his way up to his and Gabby's room so that he could wake up his wife.

She decided to move into the living room they have here on the second floor of their home shortly after waking up, Gabby feeling like she had to move in order to stretch her back. After all, she can't stay in bed all the time when it stops being comfortable. However, maybe she should've told her husband that, as he just started yelling out for her after he came upstairs. "Gabby?" Hearing her husband, Gabby smiled as she went to tell him where she was. "Living room." Turning around as he stood in the doorway to the primary suite, Matt smiled when he saw Gabby there in the living room. "Hey, what are you doing out of bed looking all sexy like this?" Gabby smiled as Matt asked her that question, while watching as he made his way over to her. "Oh, I needed to tease you since you left me alone in bed." Matt agreed with Gabby as he walked up to her, before leaning over her and grabbing the back of her head. After which, he leaned in and kissed her softly. "You okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling at him. "Yeah."

Sitting down next to Gabby (while facing her), Matt smiled as he put his hand in her lap and stroked it with his thumb. "You sleep good?" Gabby smiled, as she did. "Yeah, I did. I was just surprised when you weren't in bed with me." Matt agreed with Gabby. "I went downstairs to start us some supper." Gabby smiled, liking the sound of that. "What are you making for us?" Matt smiled. "I'm making a stir-fry for supper. Something easy with protein for you." Gabby agreed with Matt, liking the idea of a stir-fry for supper. "Thanks, I appreciate that." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, but he could tell that something was off. "You okay babe?" Gabby sighed. "I'm just thinking about what my brother did and how I feel betrayed still." Matt nodded, well aware that was the case. "Well, I can tell you that we aren't celebrating Christmas with him. Your mom just told me that she's going to have a separate Christmas with him." Gabby agreed with her husband, glad that was the case. "I'm glad, because I'd rather have you alone and just take it easy."

Matt agreed with his beautiful wife, smiling at her. "We may have Kelly and Stella with us though." Gabby smiled. "I'm okay with them. Just maybe no business for a couple days. It's holidays for 3 days." Matt agreed with his wife, as that's something he can promise her. "I promise, no business. Right now, you're my priority. I promise." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling because of how much she truly loves her husband. She loves him more than anything and can't wait to see him be a father. "God, I love you so much." Matt agreed with Gabby, smiling as he loves her too. "Listen, do you need anything? Maybe I can help you downstairs when we eat? Or, do you want to eat up here?" Gabby shook her head. "Is it almost ready?" Matt bit his lip. "At least another 30 minutes." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Do you need a snack?" Gabby shook her head. "Just tired still. Might go back to bed after we eat." Matt agreed with Gabby, nodding. "You feeling okay Gabby?" Gabby sighed. "I just want to be cautious right now. With what Antonio did…it's still in my mind and…"

Placing his hand on Gabby's stomach, Matt understood. "Hey, I get it. You want to just take it easy and relax, as you want to make sure that everything is okay for the rest of the pregnancy; I want the same thing, so that's what we're going to do." Gabby nodded. "Listen, go finish supper then come join me. My mom can too." Matt agreed with Gabby, while also hearing that she's tired still. "Okay, on one condition." Gabby looked at Matt as he told her that. "What is it?" Matt smiled. "If you get tired, I don't care if we're spending time with your mom. You need to tell me, and we'll go lay down in bed." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she can do that for him. "Ok." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before getting up and leaning over her. After which, he pressed his lips to her forehead as he was really happy. Bending down, he smirked due to the fact that he loves her more than anything. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as he told her that he loves her; after all, she loves him too. "I love you too." Matt nodded, smiling as he kissed her.

Just taking things nice and slow with Gabby, Matt smirked due to the fact that he's really happy. "I'll wear my sweats if you want?" Gabby shook her head. "This for now as we eat, then boxers and a t-shirt in case we fall asleep in here." Matt agreed with his wife as she told him that, liking that idea. "I like that idea." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled, well aware that he likes the idea. "Good. Now, go finish supper." Matt agreed with Gabby but gave her one last kiss before getting up and going to finish supper.

Making his way back down to the kitchen after talking to Gabby, Matt smiled as he went to get back to work; while Kelly turned to look at him as he didn't know why he was gone so long. "Where were you?" Matt smiled. "Gabby's awake and in the living room upstairs. We're going to eat up there. Camila, she said that you can join us if you want." Camila smiled, as she loves the sound of that. "I like that idea. Time with you and Gabby.," Matt agreed with his mother-in-law and smiled. "However, she looks tired. So, I am not sure how long she may stay up. Also, I'm going to wear boxers and a t-shirt in case we fall asleep in there." Camila agreed with Matt, more than okay with that. "That sounds good. Make sure that Gabby's comfortable in case you fall asleep." Matt agreed with Camila, smiling. However, little did he know that Gabby was not going to last long after they had supper.

Note to Readers:
I've decided not to write supper as I have no idea for it, and due to the fact that I want to get to writing Christmas time so that I can get it out of the way. But for now, I hope you continue to enjoy the story. Thanks again for reading.
