Hi Readers: What did you guys think of that original chapter I wrote for you guys? A chapter which was never included in the original story, as it was all new material. Well, I hope you guys liked it as it's just one of the many chapters I plan on writing for you guys to expand on the story I've already written; while I also try and just make it better, while re-writing most of my chapters. And that's precisely what I plan on doing right now, re-writing another one of my chapters. The one that will end this day.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Dishes and Goodnights/I Feel So Bad
White Matt was okay with the idea of his mother-in-law making him, Gabby, Kelly, and Stella supper this evening; there was on thing that he wasn't okay with, which was the idea of her doing the dishes as well. She's not here to be the house maid, especially not right before Christmas when she should take it easy; she's already cooking Christmas dinner, and that's more than enough. Rather, he and his best friend were going to do the dishes; first, he just needs to get her to sit down. "Ok. Can you please just go sit down Camila? I got it." Camila looked at Matt as he told her that. "Matt, you said you wanted to go to bed with Gabby." Matt took a breath as he turned to look at Kelly (who was going to help him with the dishes), before getting close to his mother-in-law so that he could whisper to her. "Camila, I want to talk to Kelly as we do something easy. I want to talk to my best friend about how he's doing." Camila then realized what he was talking about, as he knew just what his best friend was dealing with: his father's death and a miscarriage.
So, she just nodded as she grabbed Matt's hand; after which, she got close to him so that she could whisper back to him. "I'm proud to call you my son-in-law; both because of the way you treat my daughter, and because of how you take care of your friends." Matt agreed with Camila as he said that, smiling as he went to hug her. "Thanks Camila." Camila agreed with Matt, smiling as she proceeded to walk away to give the two gentlemen some time alone to talk; while Matt made his way back over to the sink so he could do the dishes. "So, Gabby feeling okay? She was pretty quiet pretty much the entire time we were eating dinner together upstairs. By the way, thanks for letting us join." Matt smiled as he rubbed Kelly's back, as he was more than happy to let him and Stella join. "I'll thank Stella for helping Gabby right now, even though I know she doesn't feel the best right now." Grabbing the wash cloth, Matt proceeded to grab one of the dishes and started to wash it; while Kelly waited for him to finish, as he was doing the drying tonight.
At the same time, he also knew that he and Matt were going to talk; first, about the miscarriage. "So, is it how I remember feeling in 2015?" Turning his head when he heard Matt ask him that question, Kelly took a breath. "I mean, what you guys suffered was harder since Gabby almost died." Matt took a breath as Kelly said that, as that most certainly is the truth; Gabby did almost die and that terrifies him. "Maybe don't remind me of that when she's months away from giving birth?" Kelly agreed with Matt, well aware that he doesn't want to think of his wife dying right now; just like he doesn't want to think about his dad, but Matt decided to ask him. "So, how are you doing with it all?" Sighing, Kelly went to tell him. "I mean, it's a lot to deal with at the same time if you get what I'm saying." Matt nodded as he washed one of their plates, before handing it over to Kelly so that he can dry it. "Oh, I get it. Not only did you loose a baby, but you also lost your dad this month too. Sorry I missed the funeral by the way, I really did want to go."
Looking at Matt, Kelly shook his head; especially since he was right where he needed to be during the funeral. "Matt, your wife is pregnant with your child. You are not going to leave her to come to a funeral." Matt sighed. "I'm just glad you guys took me up on the offer to come here. Maybe you could've flown in later though." Kelly sighed. "I think that's my fault. I booked the flight and I…I just had to get out of there as soon as I could." Matt started to understand why he flew in so early now, nodding as that made sense. "Yeah, that makes sense now." Going to wash another dish, Matt heard Camila make her way over. "Matt, I have the crockpot here. I need to wash this at least." Matt shook his head. "Oh, just set it down Camila; you can trust me and Kelly with dishes, and I mean it." Camila agreed with Matt. "By the way Kelly, I overheard a bit. I am so sorry for your losses. Both your father and your baby." Kelly smiled. "Thanks Ms. Dawson. And don't you dare think I'm not going to call you that, as you're not my mother-in-law."
Camila agreed with Kelly as he said that. "Can you just move out of the way? I'm going to just wash this quickly." Kelly agreed with Camila, doing as he was told. Meanwhile, Camila walked up to the sink to wash the crockpot. "Matt, don't say a word." Matt agreed with Camila as he let her wash the crockpot. "So, why exactly is your best friend doing the dishes with you?" Matt looked at his mother-in-law. "Because we wanted to talk." Camila just looked at Matt. "Matt, he needs to be with Stella, not you right now." Matt then realized that, before turning his head and looking at Kelly. "Yeah, he should be." Kelly nodded. "Listen, we can talk tomorrow." Matt agreed with Kelly, smiling as he walked away; meanwhile, Matt walked back up to the sink. "You're on drying." Matt agreed with Camila, while she went to start washing. "You should've listened to me Matthew." Matt agreed with Camila, well aware that was the case. "I just wanted to check on him, that's all." Camila agreed with Matt. "Well, right now he needs to check on his girlfriend."
Matt agreed. "I just hate that I can't help them more, especially since I know what they're going through. The loss of a child is brutal." Camila agreed with her son-in-law. "But look where you and Gabby are now, happily married and expecting a baby girl." Matt smiled, as that most certainly is the truth. "I love that part. I can't wait to have a baby girl who you get to watch next year on our anniversary." Camila laughed, agreeing with her son-in-law. "Either that, or we get a nanny." Now that, Camila didn't agree with; neither did Gabby as she came downstairs with her plates. "Over my dead body Matthew, we are not getting a nanny. If you want to pay for a nanny, then you're going to pay my mother." Matt agreed with his wife as he walked up to her, before grabbing the plates. "What are you doing down here? I told you to go rest in bed." Gabby smiled. "I just wanted to say thanks to my mom for cooking and that it was perfect for my stomach." Turning around, Camila agreed with her daughter and smiled as she walked up to her this evening.
Hugging her, Camila smiled. "It was no problem mija. I know that you like that, and I want to make you food that you like." Gabby smiled, agreeing with her mother as she said that; after which, she looked at Matt. "Listen, I am going to go take it easy and relax upstairs in bed Matt." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that she was tired and not feeling the best. "Gabby, can you take some of that medication the doctor gave you? The one for the nausea. I think it might help overnight." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that's a great idea. "I like that idea." Matt smiled as he agreed with his beautiful wife. "I will see you upstairs, okay?" Gabby agreed with her husband once more, smiling as she walked away so that she could go relax in bed. "Buenas noches mama." Camila agreed with her daughter, smiling. "Buenas noches Gabriela." Gabby smiled, agreeing with her mother before walking away to go upstairs, while she and Matt did the dishes this evening. God, she has such a great husband who puts up with her family and does great chores.
Walking around his and Gabby's room after doing the dishes, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world as she laid down in the comfort of their bed; after all, she looks very comfortable as she started the movie. Though, he wished she'd waited due to the fact that he wanted to be in bed with her. "You know, you could've been cuddled up to me in bed when you started the movie had you waited to start it." Turning her head, Gabby agreed with Matt. "Right, sorry." Matt shook his head as Gabby said that, as he was more than okay with her starting the movie. "Hey, it's okay baby. If that's what you wanted to then, then you go ahead. Just know that I'm coming to get in bed with you now." Gabby smiled and agreed. "I took the medication you asked me to take, by the way." Matt nodded. "I saw." Walking up to his side table, Matt smiled as he set his phone down on his charger; after which, he stood up and adjusted his boxers. "You sure you're okay with me just wearing boxers? I can put my sweats back on."
Turning her head to look at her man, Gabby smiled as she liked the sight in front of her. The sight of her husband wearing tight boxers which she loves. "I want you in those, in bed with me right now Mr. Casey. Just don't try anything." Matt agreed with Gabby, well aware that she doesn't want to have sex tonight. "I promise, no sex tonight. Anyways, I need to talk to you." Gabby was confused as Matt said that. "What are you talking about?" Opening his side of the bed this evening, Matt proceeded to climb into bed with the woman of his dreams; after which, he got close to her and smiled. "Want me to lay down on my back? Or would you rather I lay down on my side?" Gabby smiled. "On your side as we talk." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled as he laid down on his side, while also moving to the center. At the same time, Gabby moved close to the man of her dreams so that they can cuddle up to each other, which is precisely what they did when they were in the center of their bed so they can concentrate on each other right now.
After all, that was the entire reason she didn't want to have sex with him in the first place; because she just knew that she was going to think about Stella and how she must be feeling right now, which is understandable due to the fact that she's her best friend. However, it was not what she wanted to think about as she and Matt made love to each other in bed; and that's precisely why she asked Matt if they could go ahead and not make love to each other tonight. And Matt agreed. He agreed not to get too intimate with her, as he wants to respect his wife's wishes and let her think about what she needs to think about, while he also thought about it. After all, he knows what Severide is going through right now. He's been in his shoes, having to watch the woman you love suffer a loss like that. And that's what they're both going to talk about, how they need to help their friends. And now that they were holding each other, they could do just that. "I think we both know that we're going to talk tonight." Gabby nodded, agreeing with Matt this evening.
After all, that was something she already knew as well. She knew that the two of them were going to talk, and she even knew the topic. "With us having gone through this in the past, I just hate what they're dealing with right now; or, at least what I can only imagine they're dealing with right now. Of course, they aren't dealing with what we dealt with but…" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, while placing his hand on her back as they both held each other close. He then pressed his lips to her forehead as Matt made sure to get Gabby to calm down, which is precisely what they need to do right now if they want to get any sleep. So, he didn't just kiss her forehead; rather, he also wrapped his arm around her and leaned in to kiss her softly. Just taking things slow with Gabby, Matt smiled as he knew that this was making her feel better, which is precisely why Matt decided to kiss his wife, to make her feel better. And now that she felt better, that meant that they could continue the conversation which they were having with each other.
But, they were going to do it slowly. "Just take it easy and relax Gabby. I know you have a lot on your mind right now, and I also know that we both hate how we can't do anything for our friends…do you think it's easy for me to see Kelly in pain, pain that I've already gone through myself?" Gabby shook her head, as she knew that was the truth. God, he probably hates that he can't do anything for Kelly, just like she hates that she can't do anything for Stella. Kissing Gabby's forehead again, Matt stroked her back as he smiled at the woman of his dreams; while also making sure that she breathes and just takes it easy for the sake of their daughter. "Remember babe, you need to breathe when you think this hard. You need to breathe for the sake of our daughter." Gabby smiled, as she's so happy that they're having a daughter. "I love the fact that we're having a daughter." Matt agreed with his wife, before leaning in and kissing her as he felt the same way, which is why he's currently taking things slow as he concentrates on the woman he loves right now.
After all, she's the only thing that truly matters to him right now, her health and safety, along with the health and safety of their daughter. And while he does understand the urge to help her best friend as much as she can, she doesn't need to do it all the time; rather, she can do it when she feels up to it. And right now, she's tired. "Gabby, please remember the reason we're up here in bed because you're tired." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, and I promise to relax for you." Matt shook his head. "Not for me, for you babe. We both know that you hate being tired. And if you're tired, then you're going to have a bad day tomorrow." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Just like Kelly. I swear, he just can't catch a break right now." Matt sighed. "Neither of us can. I swear, I see the similarities between our lives all the times." Gabby was confused when Matt said that. "How?" Matt sighed. "We've both lost our dads, we've both estranged from our mom and siblings, we've both lost a fiancé; and now, a child."
Gabby was confused when Matt mentioned a fiancé. "Kelly was engaged, and lost a fiancé like you?" Matt sighed. "The one that cheated on him? The one with a lieutenant brother?" Gabby then remembered. "Right, the one that Shay defended him against." Matt nodded, before leaning in and kissing her softly; until she pulled away and just looked down. "I miss her Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "I know you do baby. And I miss Andy." Gabby agreed with Matt, before pushing him onto his back; which led to led him laying down like she wanted him to so that they could cuddle. And that's precisely what Gabby wants right now. She wants to cuddle up to her husband and hold him close to her. And that's precisely what she did as she laid down on his chest and just held the man she loves close to her. "Do you ever dream of things you guys would do if he were still alive?" Running his finger tips down Gabby's back, Matt agreed. "Yeah, I think the nursery would be one thing since he knows how to."
Gabby agreed with Matt, while he turned his head and pressed his lips to her forehead. "I mean, I could ask Christie or your brother…but it wouldn't be the same as asking him." Gabby nodded, well aware that was the case as she felt Matt stroke her back with his thumb, while also telling her something as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "We don't need to talk about it if you don't want to." Gabby sighed, as she had no idea whether she did or didn't want to talk about it. "Maybe tomorrow, not tonight. Tonight, I just want to cuddle up to my man and hold him close to me." Matt smiled as Gabby said that, as that's precisely what he wants to do as well. "Good, because that's what I want to do too." Pressing his lips to Gabby's forehead, Matt smiled. "Day in bed again for Christmas eve?" Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as that's precisely what she wants to do on Christmas Eve. A day in bed, with a movie marathon. "I like that idea. After all, we agreed no business until the new year." Matt agreed with Gabby, smiling at her.
I mean, why would he want to work when he can cuddle up to her like this. "Why would I want to work when I can cuddle up to you like this?" Gabby smirked, well aware that he loves holding her close to him like she is right now. "This is such a nice feeling, especially since I feel so relaxed when we hold each other close. It's just everything I want right now…you're everything I want." Gabby smiled as Matt said that, before slipping up his chest. After which, she leaned in and smirked due to the fact that she wanted to show her husband how much she loves him. "I love you." Matt agreed with his wife. "I love you too, and I loved your most recent blog post. It was a great way to send our Christmas wishes to Chicago." Gabby smiled and agreed. "Though, I do want to talk about your blog." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Yeah, what is it?" Matt sighed. "I just want to make sure you don't share our business plans on there. I want to make sure that we keep that secret, until we're ready to reveal it to the world." Gabby agreed with her husband, nodding.
After all, that's the last thing she'd ever do. "You have nothing to worry about there." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that, as he never doubted that he would. "Not that I ever doubted I would." Gabby smiled and agreed with Matt as she bent down and kissed his chest, while also cuddling up to her man some more. The man she loves more than anything in the entire world. The way he holds her is perfection, and she's so glad that this is what they're doing with each other right now. Just holding each other close as they cuddled up to each other, here in the cozy comfort of their bed. And that's precisely what they two of them did for the rest of the night. They held each other close in bed, until they fell asleep in each other's arms this evening.
