small chapter, but next one is probably one of the most fun to write lol
Hermione thought she was going to lose her mind. She hadn't wanted to go to the Ministry with Theo—she didn't want to see the looks she would surely receive, and neither did she want people questioning her being there with a pureblood. She was waiting at her house to hear about the trial.
It was too much to wait for Theo to send an owl to her, to tell her what the Wizengamot had decided. Hermione knew she couldn't wait for any answer from him, not when she had told him to go away.
Doughnut looked at her, as if judging her for her moodiness.
"You miss him too, don't you?" Hermione said, picking Doughnut from the floor and walking towards the sofa. She sat down with a soft plop. "I miss him too. But he went away so easily and only returned just to ask me for something…I feel cheated somehow."
Hermione continued petting Doughnut, letting her thoughts flow. She started remembering the good times with Theo, and it wasn't long before the tears began flowing down her cheeks. How was it possible to feel so strongly for someone in such a little amount of time?
She probably would have been lost in her depressed haze if it wasn't for the sound of pecking on the window.
Standing up, Hermione put Doughnut on the floor and went to see what the noise was. An owl stood there, a letter to her attached to its leg, and as soon as Hermione untied the letter and gave the owl a treat, he hooted and flew away.
Opening the letter, Hermione couldn't hold her tears at bay.
Dear Hermione…or should I call you Mia?
Ernie was convicted. He's going to serve some time under house arrest and probation; Draco was livid he wasn't going to Azkaban, but it felt too horrible for a relatively small mistake on his part.
I know you probably don't want to hear from me again, but I hope someday you can forgive me. Being with you when I couldn't remember who I was, was amazing and the best time of my life.
I hope you know I'll never forget what we had. I hope you won't either.
Sincerely,
Your Theo.
