Chapter 04: The New Guardians of the United World
United World – Six Months Later
Yuya was going through his belongings in his backpack. "Do you have your toothbrush?" Yuzu asked.
"Yep." Yuya answered.
"Your allergy medication." Ruri asked.
"Got it." Yuya showed his medicine.
"Yuya, is Yukio's gummies the dinosaur or the fish kind?" Rin called out.
"Dinosaur." Yuya answered.
"Hey, Yuya. I think Yusaku wants his daddy." Serena came in with Yusaku in her arms, who was reaching out to Yuya.
"Hey, there, champ." Yuya took Yusaku in his arms. "You've been really clingy like your sister, Yuka." Yuya tossed him up and down, making Yusaku giggle.
Yuya kept tossing and rocking Yusaku before he finally got tired and went to sleep. "I want to play with you and your siblings some more, but I have to get going soon. If I don't, who knows what will happen." Yuya laid Yusaku in his crib and looked at the sleeping Yuka, Yumiko, and Yukio.
"I always knew this day would come but now that it's finally here…" Yuya sighed as he looked at his children.
"They'll understand, they're your children after all." Yuzu comforted Yuya.
"Yeah, but I want to finish this job quickly. There's so much I want to do with them." Yuya admitted.
"Yuya, their babies. There's really not a lot you can do with them." Rin told her husband.
"I know…but I love them so much." Yuya admitted.
"You're a good dad, Yuya." Ruri leaned her head on his shoulder.
"And a great husband." Serena leaned on Yuya's other shoulder. Yuzu and Rin also hugged and snuggled up to him.
Yuya smiled as he looked at his wives and children. "I'm gonna miss this…"
Kaiba Corporation Satellite – Earlier in the Day
"Atem has finished his preparations for the expedition. I'll prepare a plane to take you to Egypt in a couple of days." Kaiba told Yuya.
"Thanks, Mr. Kaiba. I appreciate what you've done for me." Yuya bowed.
"Oh…the plane ride isn't free." Kaiba smirked. "There's one thing that you have to do for me first."
"What do you want?" Yuya asked as Kaiba chuckled.
Link VRAINS – The Next Day
Yuya looked down at Link VRAINS at all the Duelists from all over the world challenging each other to Speed Duels and Master Duels. It brought a smile to Yuya's face that Dueling continued to bring people together.
"Yo, we got here as soon as we could."
Yuya turned around and he saw Jonouchi, Asuka, Rua and Rio approach him. They were wearing the same uniform as him to symbolize their position in the Dimension Guardians.
"Thanks for coming, guys. I'm sorry if it got you to cancel your other plans." Yuya apologized.
"Hey, we're friends. We always have time for them." Jonouchi said.
"Though, it has been a while since the five of us got together." Asuka admitted.
"So…what did you want to tell us?" Rua asked.
"Well, there's two things actually. The expedition for Egypt is ready to go. I'm gonna be leaving for Egypt in a couple of days." Yuya announced.
"Right…you're gonna look for Genesis and end things once and for all." Rio had a feeling this was coming.
"Yeah…and I wanted to ask you guys something." Yuya admitted.
"Don't worry, Yuya. We won't let anything happen to your kids. We'll make sure that they and your wives are safe." Asuka said.
"Thank you but that wasn't what I was gonna ask you to do. It's about why I was late to the hospital the day my kids were born." Yuya admitted.
"Yeah, you never told us about that. What did happen?" Jonouchi asked.
"I was ambushed by a group called the Knights of Hanoi." Yuya explained. "They're doing terrible things in the shadows of Link VRAINS, I was able to get away from them thanks to Blue Maiden."
"Whoa, wait, you met Blue Maiden!" Rua got excited. "She's a legend in VRAINS. She goes around helping others with her deck of Trickstars and Marincess cards."
"Yeah, she's strong but the Knights of Hanoi are still out there. They haven't made a move in six months, but I can tell something bad is gonna happen and it's gonna affect everyone. So, I wanted to ask you guys to do some recon every now and then and make sure things are okay both in the United World and Link VRAINS." Yuya said.
"You don't have to tell me twice. I'm still on alert if Don Thousand ever shows his stupid face around here." Rio admitted.
"And there's still some loose Academia soldiers in hiding." Asuka admitted.
"Security is now ready to move out and defend the public at any time thanks to mayor Chojiro." Rua admitted.
"And let's not forget Reiji, Sawatari and the others are prepared to take a stand too." Jonouchi pointed out. "You got nothing to worry about, Yuya."
Yuya smiled at the group before looking behind him. "Didn't I tell you that these guys are the best?"
Coming out from behind the tree was Blue Maiden and Aqua. "You're right. They look like great friends."
"Oh my god, Blue Maiden!" Rua rushed to her. "Can I have you autograph? Please! Please! Please!" Rua jumped up and down excitingly.
"U-Uh, sure…" Blue Maiden nervously smiled and signed Rua's Duel Disk.
"Who's this little person?" Asuka looked at Aqua.
"My name is Aqua. I'm one of the five Ignis, the Water Ignis. Pleasure to meet you." Aqua bowed.
"Nice to meet you too." Rio said.
"It's a real honor to meet the five founding members of the Dimension Guardians." Blue Maiden bowed in respect.
"You have our thanks for helping Yuya get to the hospital in time." Jonouchi smiled. "What brings you here?"
"Yuya invited me because he had something to tell me." Blue Maiden said. "He just told me to hide behind a tree until he would say, "Didn't I tell you that these guys are the best?" So, you just wanted me to meet the others."
"Yes, and now that I can see that you can get long with them just fine…" Yuya activated his Duel Disk. He then lowered the blade of his Disk to Blue Maiden's shoulders like a knighting ceremony. "You're a Guardian now."
Blue Maiden was in shock after hearing what Yuya said. "Welcome to the team." Jonouchi patted her head.
"Nice to get more girl power." Asuka patted Blue Maiden's shoulder.
"Looking forward to working with you." Rio patted Blue Maiden's back.
"You too, Aqua." Rua smiled at Aqua.
"You get to fight alongside your idols, Aoi." Aqua looked at Blue Maiden.
"I'm…at Dimension Guardian…" Blue Maiden said.
"Not really, the dimensions are one now so there's no Dimension Guardians anymore." Yuya pointed out. "But you are now officially the first integration of the Guardians of the United World."
"Guardians of the United World. I like that." Rua admitted.
"It does have a nice ring to it." Rio agreed.
"And you will be a greater leader than I was…Captain Aoi Zaizen." Yuya said, surprising Blue Maiden. "All those that agree…" Yuya showed his Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon card.
Asuka showed her Cyber Angel Dakini, Jonouchi showed Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, Rio showed Number 94: Crystal Zero, and lastly Rua showed Power Tool Revolution Dragon.
"I'll do my best." Blue Maiden showed her Link Monster, Trickstar Holly Angel.
"I know you will." Yuya smiled.
"So, what was the other thing you wanted to talk about?" Jonouchi asked.
"Well…" Yuya chuckled.
United World – Center Court
"Duelists from all around the world! Years ago, our world was split into four by the actions of selfish people! But thanks to the unity of all four dimensions, the world has become one once more and has achieved the ultimate evolution in Dueling!"
The audience at the Center Court were all cheering loudly as Seto Kaiba stood right at the center. Everyone from all over Maiami City, Academia, Neo Domino City, Heartland and Den City came to the Center Court for a special match.
"To celebrate the continuing evolution of Dueling as well as to celebrate the anniversary of our victory of the disgraceful Leo Akaba, a special Duel will not only showcase Duel Monsters' full potential but to answer the one question on everyone's minds. Who is worthy of the title King of Duelists?!" Kaiba shouted, getting everyone excited.
"By running through the records of Duels that have happened after the war, there are only two Duelists that have not a single loss on their record! One of them is yours truly, me!" Kaiba gestured to himself. "And the other one is the legendary hero, the son of the United World Champion Zarc Ryuga, Yuya Ryuga!" A spotlight shined on Yuya as he stood with his arms crossed.
Yuka, Yumiko, Yukio and Yusaku all got excited when they saw their father, making their mothers giggle.
"Now, Yuya! The time has come to determine who is stronger! Is it me and Blue-Eyes?! Or is it you and Odd-Eyes?!" Kaiba activated his Duel Disk.
"Odd-Eyes and I are still growing Mr. Kaiba! And I'm fighting for more than myself! That's why as my thank you for those that are gone! As a thank you to everyone who has supported me! I will not lose my last Duel in this city!" Yuya activated his Duel Disk.
"Duel!" Yuya and Kaiba declared.

"I'm going first! From my hand, I activate the Magic Card: Pendulum Call! By sending one card from my hand to the Graveyard, I add two Magician Pendulum Monsters from my deck to my hand!" Yuya discarded one of his cards and added Stargazer and Timegazer Magician to his hand.
"Using the Scale 1 Stargazer Magician and the Scale 8 Timegazer Magician, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Yuya set his scale. "With this, I can simultaneously summon monsters from Levels 2 to 7!"
"Swing, Pendulum of my soul! Draw an arc of light across the ether! Pendulum Summon! Come forth! My monster comrades!" The giant pendulum swung, creating a portal and two lights came out. "Dragonpit Magician (DEF: 2700, LV: 7, PS: 8)! And Dharma-Eye Magician (DEF: 2500, LV: 7, PS: 2)!" Yuya summoned two magicians in Defense Position.
"I set one card and end my turn!" Yuya finished his turn.

"My turn! Draw!" Kaiba drew his card. "When I control no monsters on my field, I can Normal Summon Kaiser Blood Vorse (ATK: 1900, LV: 5) without releasing any monsters!" Kaiba summoned a Beast-Warrior.
"You're Magicians may have powerful Defense, but they pail in comparison to my cards! I activate the Magic Card: Fusion! I fuse the two Blue-Eyes in my hand!" Kaiba's two Blue-Eyes entered the spiraling vortex.
"Dragons with eyes of blue, combine your two powers together and give birth to a new dragon! Fusion Summon! Appear! Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon (ATK: 3000, LV: 10)!" Kaiba summoned a Blue-Eyes with two heads.
"Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon can attack twice per turn! Battle! Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon, attack Dharma-Eye Magician and Dragonpit Magician! Twin Burst of Destruction!" The two headed dragon fired its blasts and destroyed both of Yuya's Magicians.
"Next, Kaiser Blood Vorse! Direct Attack!" Kaiser Blood Vorse charged towards Yuya with its weapon and struck Yuya hard, making him skid back.
Yuya LP: 8000→6100
Yusaku started whimper as he saw his father get hurt. "Don't worry, your dad isn't gonna go down this easily." Serena assured her son.
"I activate my Trap Card: Painful Resources! For every 500 points of damage that I've taken this turn, I draw one card!" Yuya drew three more cards.
"I set one card and end my turn!" Kaiba finished his turn.

Kaiba LP: 8000, Hand: 1
"My turn! Draw!" Yuya drew his card. "With my current scale, Pendulum Summon! Appear!" The portal opened and two monsters came out. "From my hand, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 7, PS: 4)! And Fusion Magician (ATK: 2000, LV: 6, PS: 4)!"
"He didn't summon from the Extra Deck?" Kaiba narrowed his eyes.
"I activate Fusion Magician's effect! I can perform a Fusion Summon using her and another monster on my field or hand as material! I fuse Fusion Magician and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" The two monsters went into the spiraling vortex.
"Dragon with dichromatic eyes! Become one with the master of Fusion and unleash raging winds! Fusion Summon!" Yuya put his hands together. "Come forth! The dragon with the eyes of a hurricane! Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 7)!" Yuya summoned his wind Odd-Eyes monster.
"Vortex Dragon's effect! When it's Special Summoned, I can select one monster on my opponent's field in Attack Position and return it to their hand! I choose Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon!" Vortex Dragon created a massive storm and Twin Burst Dragon returned to Kaiba's Extra Deck.
"Battle! Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, attack Kaiser Blood Vorse! Spiral Hurricane Burst!" Vortex Dragon unleashed its breath attack.
"Counter Trap: Attack Nullification! This negates your attack and ends the Battle Phase!" Kaiba played his set card.
"Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon's effect activates! Once per turn, when a Magic/Trap or Monster Effect is activated, by returning a Pendulum Monster from my Extra Deck to my deck, I can negate the effect and destroy the card!" Vortex Dragon destroyed Kaiba's Trap and the attack destroyed Kaiser Blood Vorse.

"I set one card and end my turn!" Yuya finished his turn.

"Alright, he defeated both of Kaiba's monsters!" Jonouchi clenched his fist with excitement.
"But the Duel is just getting started." Asuka noticed that Kaiba hadn't lost his cool yet.
"My turn! Draw!" Kaiba drew his card. "I activate the Magic Card: Resurrection of the Dead!"
"I won't let you! I activate Vortex Dragon's effect! I negate Resurrection of the Dead's effect and destroy it!" Yuya returned another Pendulum Monster to his deck.
"But that effect is only used once per turn." Kaiba pointed out. "I activate the Magic Card: Life-Shaving Treasure Cards! I draw until I have five cards in my hand! In five turns, however, I must discard my entire hand!" Kaiba drew a fresh hand.
"I summon the Tuner Monster, Protector with Eyes of Blue (ATK: 800, LV: 1)!" Kaiba summoned a male with a sword and blue eyes. "When this monster is summoned, I can Special Summon a Level 1 Light Tuner Monster from my hand! Come! Child with Eyes of Blue (ATK: 300, LV: 1)!" Kaiba summoned a boy with blue eyes.
"I activate Protector with Eyes of Blue's effect! By sending one effect monster on my field to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Blue-Eyes monster from my hand! I release Child with Eyes of Blue!" The child disappeared.
"This monster is treated as Blue-Eyes when its in my hand or Graveyard! Appear! Dragon Spirit of White (ATK: 2500, LV: 8)!" Kaiba summoned a pure white dragon with blue eyes.
"When Dragon Spirit of White is summoned, I can banish one Magic or Trap Card on the opponent's field! I banish your Timegazer Magician!" Dragon Spirit of White unleashed a blast that banished Timegazer Magician and broke Yuya's Pendulum Scale.
"Here I come, Yuya! I'm Tuning my Level 8 Dragon Spirit of White with my Level 1 Protector with the Eyes of Blue!" Protector of Eyes of Blue turned into a blue ring instead of a traditional green ring and Dragon Spirit of White flew through them and became 8 bright white stars.
"Dragon with eyes of blue, synchronize with my soul and gain a new power! Synchro Summon! Appear! Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 9)!" Kaiba summoned a Blue-Eyes Synchro Monster.
"Battle! Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon, attack Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon!" Kaiba ordered.
"But Blue-Eyes and Odd-Eyes have the same Attack Points!" Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon unleashed its attack and Odd-Eyes used his own attack, creating an explosion, shaking the entire stadium.
"Geez, this Duel is intense." Rio grunted.
When the smoke cleared, only Blue-Eyes remained on the field. "Wh-What happened?" Yuya was shocked.
"By banishing Child with Eyes of Blue in my Graveyard, I can negate the destruction of a Blue-Eyes monster on my field. Furthermore, I can add two Normal Blue-Eyes monsters from my Graveyard to my hand, but I cannot summon them until after the end of my next turn!" Kaiba added his two Blue-Eyes White Dragons from before to his hand.
"I set one card and end my turn!" Kaiba finished his turn.

"My turn! Draw!" Yuya drew his card. "From my hand, I activate the Continuous Magic: Land of the Dragon Treasure!"
"Next, with the already set Scale 1 Stargazer Magician, and using the Scale 5 Wisdom Eye Magician, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Yuya set his scale.
"Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon's effect prohibits both of us form Special Summoning two or more monsters at the same time!" Kaiba pointed out.
"That won't stop me! Wisdom Eye Magician's Pendulum Effect allows me to destroy him and set another Magician Pendulum Monster in my Pendulum Zone! The monster I choose is the Scale 8 Synthesis Magician!" Yuya set his female magician with a bow and arrow in the Pendulum Scale.
"Pendulum Summon! Appear from my Extra Deck! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 7, PS: 4)!" Yuya summoned his ace monster again.
"Thanks to Land of the Dragon Treasure's effect, every time a Dragon-type monster is summoned to the field, I can draw two cards!" Yuya drew two new cards.
"I release Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Odd-Eyes flew into the sky. "Odd-Eyes, now is the time to evolve! Surpass your limits and awaken the power sleeping in you! Appear! Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon (ATK: 3000, LV: 8)!" Yuya summoned the advanced version of Odd-Eyes.
"I draw two cards thanks to Land of the Dragon Treasure's effect!" Yuya drew two more cards.
"Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon's effect! When it's Advance Summoned, I can destroy one monster on my opponent's field and deal its Attack Points as damage! Spiral Sacrifice Burst!" Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon used its effect and destroyed Spirit Dragon, dealing damage to Kaiba.
Kaiba LP: 7400→4400
"Battle! Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon! Direct Attack!" Yuya continued his assault on Kaiba.
"You're being too hasty! Quick-Play Magic: Authority with Eyes of Blue! By sending one Blue-Eyes monster from my hand or deck to the Graveyard, I can target one monster on the field and it cannot attack!" Kaiba sent a Blue-Eyes from his deck to the Graveyard.
"I end my turn." Yuya finished his turn.

"Yuya is in the lead." Rua looked down at the field.
"But how long will that last." Aoi was getting worried.
"My turn! Draw!" Kaiba drew his card. "I activate the Ritual Magic: Chaos Form! By banishing a Blue-Eyes monster from my Graveyard, I can Ritual Summon a Chaos Ritual Monster! I banish Dragon Spirit of White from my Graveyard!" A large gate appeared behind Kaiba and it opened.
"Dragon with eyes of blue, gain the power of Chaos and strike down all enemies that are in your path! Ritual Summon! Descend! Blue-Eyes Chaos Max Dragon (ATK: 4000, LV: 8)!" Kaiba summoned his Ritual Monster.
"You're Continuous Magic: Land of the Dragon Treasure affects me as well, so I get to draw two new cards!" Kaiba drew two cards. "I activate the Magic Card: Attack Seal! This switches your Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon to Defense Position!" Odd-Eyes crouched to a Defense Position.
Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon (DEF: 2500)
"Battle! Blue-Eyes Chaos Max Dragon, attack Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon! Chaos Maximum Burst!" Chaos Max Dragon unleashed its attack. "When Chaos Max Dragon attacks a monster in Defense Position, it deals double piercing damage!" Advance Dragon was destroyed instantly and Yuya fell to his knee.
Yuya LP: 6100→3100
"Not yet…it's not over yet! I activate my Trap Card: Shared Pain! When I take Battle or Effect Damage, one monster on my opponent's field loses Attack Points equal to the damage that I have taken! In other words, Chaos Max Dragon loses 3000 Attack Points!"
Chaos Max Dragon (ATK: 4000→1000)
"He used the damage to weaken my monster…I end my turn!" Kaiba finished his turn.
"Man, this Duel is so intense!"
"I don't want any one of them to lose!"
"Yuya! Yuya! Yuya!"
"Kaiba! Kaiba! Kaiba!"
The entire arena was cheering for both Yuya and Kaiba, but the cheers didn't cause their focus to shift away from the other.
"As expected of Mr. Kaiba. He isn't one of the strongest Duelist in the world for nothing. His bond with Blue-Eyes is unmatchable."
"It's been so long since I have been pushed in a Duel." Kaiba panted. "Zarc, your son is just like you. A real pain in the ass." Kaiba gave a little smirk.
Yuya LP: 3100, Hand: 3
Kaiba LP: 4400, Hand: 3
"My turn! Draw!" Yuya drew his card. "Pendulum Summon! Revive from the Extra Deck! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 7, PS: 4)!" Yuya brought back his ace monster. "And from my hand, Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon (ATK: 2800, LV: 7)! Odd-Eyes Wizard Dragon (ATK: 2500, LV: 7)!" Yuya summoned three Odd-Eyes Dragons.
"I draw two more cards thanks to my Continuous Magic!" Yuya drew two cards.
"If Yuya destroys Chaos Max and attacks with his other dragons." Ruri got excited.
"Yuya will win!" Rin smiled.
The babies were all smiling and wanting to reach out to their father. "That's right, your daddy's gonna win." Yuzu declared.
"Here I come, Kaiba! Odd-Eyes attack Chaos Max Dragon! Spiral Strike Burst!" Odd-Eyes unleashed his attack. "When Odd-Eyes battles a Level 5 or higher monster, the battle damage is doubled! Reaction Force!" Odd-Eyes destroyed Chaos Max Dragon and Kaiba was sent skidding backwards.
Kaiba LP: 4400→1400
"It's not over yet! When a Level 8 or higher Dragon-type monster is destroyed, I can summon this monster! The white strength hidden at the origin of unending time…spread your wings for your reverberating soul and appear from the deep blue! Deep-Eyes White Dragon (ATK: 0, LV: 10)!" Kaiba summoned a larger dragon.
"I draw two cards thanks to your Continuous Magic!" Kaiba drew two more cards.
"When this dragon is summoned, you take 600 points of damage for every Dragon-type monster in our Graveyards! I have, Spirit, Chaos Max and Deep of Blue-Eyes that I sent when I used Authority with Eyes of Blue! So, you take 1800 points of damage!" Yuya grunted as he took damage.
Yuya LP: 3100→1300
"Furthermore, Deep-Eyes gains the Attack Points of Chaos Max!" Kaiba added.
Deep-Eyes (ATK: 0→4000)
"4000 Attack Points…" Yuya looked at Deep-Eyes. "I…activate the effect of the Tuner Monster, Nobledragon Magician! By reducing an Odd-Eyes monster's Level by 3, I can Special Summon this monster from my Graveyard! I reduce Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's level by 3! Come, Nobledragon Magician (ATK: 700, LV: 3, PS: 5)!"
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (LV: 7→4)
"I'm Tuning my Level 4 Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with my Level 3 Nobledragon Magician!" Nobledragon Magician turned into three green rings and Odd-Eyes flew through them and became four stars.
"Dragon with dichromatic eyes! Rise from the depths of the earth's core and incinerate your enemies! Synchro Summon! Come forth! The dragon with the eyes of magma! Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon (DEF: 2000, LV: 7)!" Yuya summoned his Synchro Monster.
"Next, I Overlay my Level 7 Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon and Wizard Dragon!" The two dragons turned into yellow and purple lights and entered the spacelike portal in front of Yuya.
"Dragon with dichromatic eyes! Emerge from the frozen tundra and unleash your wrath! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 7! The dragon with the eyes of ice! Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon (DEF: 2500, RNK: 7, OVU: 2)!" Yuya summoned his Xyz Monster.
Yuya drew four more cards thanks to his Continuous Magics effect. "I set two cards and end my turn!"

"Yuya is forced to go on the defense." Serena got worried.
"Don't worry, Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon can negate attacks." Ruri pointed out.
"My turn! Draw!" Kaiba drew his card. "Yuya Ryuga, you are a Duelist that has earned my respect! To that end, I'll defeat you with my strongest dragon! First, using the Scale 0 King with the Eyes of Blue and the Scale 13 Queen with the Eyes of Blue, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Kaiba set his scale.
"Of course, you would have Pendulum Cards." Yuya narrowed his eyes.
"Here I come, Yuya! Pendulum Summon! Appear, my servants!" A portal opened and three monsters came out. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Kaiba summoned all three of his Blue-Eyes.
"At this moment, I activate King of Blue-Eyes' Pendulum Effect! I can negate the effects of all current face-up cards on the opponent's field!" King with Eyes of Blue's eyes shined, making Meteorburst and Absolute Dragon lose their effects.
"Next, I activate Queen with the Eyes of Blue's Pendulum Effect! This card makes all Blue-Eyes monsters on my field count as two materials for either a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Ritual or Link Summon!" Queen with Eyes of Blue made the three Blue-Eyes multiple into six dragons.
"Appear! The circuit of my soul!" A circuit appeared above Kaiba. "Arrowheads confirmed! The summon conditions are at least three Blue-Eyes monsters! I set the three Blue-Eyes treated as two monsters in the Link Markers! The six dragons went to the six arrows.
"Dragon with pure eyes of blue! Take in the power of the worldwide network and take control of everything worldwide! Link Summon! Abyss-Eyes White Dragon (ATK: 0, LNK: 6)!" Kaiba summoned a pure white dragon with pure blue eyes.
"Abyss-Eyes White Dragon gains 1000 Attack Points for every Dragon-type monster in my Graveyard! With six, Abyss-Eyes gains 6000 Attack Points!"
Abyss-Eyes (ATK: 0→6000)
"Battle! Abyss-Eyes, attack Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon attack!" Abyss-Eyes prepared to attack.
"I…" Yuya was gonna play one of his set cards.
"Useless! When Abyss-Eyes battles a monster that it is linked to, my opponent can't activate any Magic, Trap or Monster Effects! Abyss Burst of Destruction!" Abyss-Eyes unleashed its breath attack and instantly destroyed Absolute Dragon.
"At this moment, Abyss-Eyes other effect activates! All cards on my opponent's field and hand are banished!" All of Yuya's other cards on his field and hand were banished. "I end my turn!"
Yuya LP: 1300, Hand: 0
Kaiba LP: 1400, Hand: 0
Yuya and Kaiba panted as the intensity of the Duel was giving their brains a massive workout.
"My turn…" Yuya put his fingers on his deck. "This is my last draw…my last play…" Yuya looked up at the VIP section where his family was.
"Yuya, you can still win this!" Yoko cheered.
"Don't give up!" Yuji shouted.
"Believe in your deck!" Sugoroku shouted.
"Go, Big Brother!" Yumi shouted.
"We're with you!" Yugi cheered.
"Yuya!" Yuzu, Ruri, Rin and Serena called out to their husband. Yuka, Yumiko, Yukio and Yusaku were all wanting to crawl to their father as they wanted to help him.
"Yuka…Yumiko…Yukio…Yusaku…I hope this moment lives in your minds even forever." Yuya smiled.
"Draw!" Yuya drew his card. "The counterattack starts now!" Yuya's catchphrase made everyone in the audience cheer.
"I activate the Magic Card: Last Light of the Dichromatic Eyes!" Yuya played his last card. "This card allows me to Special Summon as many Odd-Eyes monsters from my Graveyard so long as I reduce my Life Points to 1! However, the monsters have their Attack Points reduced to 0 and their effects negated!" Yuya grunted as he lost most of his Life Points.
Yuya LP: 1300→1
"Return to the field! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon! Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon! Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon! And Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon!" Yuya summoned five Odd-Eyes Dragons to the field.
"Appear! The circuit of the Guardians!" A circuit appeared above Yuya. "Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning conditions are at least one Odd-Eyes Pendulum Monster! I set Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Vortex Dragon, Meteorburst Dragon, Absolute Dragon and Saber Dragon in the Link Markers!" The five dragons went into five arrows.
"Dragon with dichromatic eyes! Spread the power of Pendulum throughout the network and create an arc of light that swings forever! Link Summon! Appear! Link 5! Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon (ATK: 3000, LNK: 5)!" Yuya summoned his Link Version of Odd-Eyes.
It still had its signature red and green eyes, but it had large black wings and white scales and the gem was blue, the color of Link monsters.
"Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon's effect! When this card is Link Summoned, it gains 1000 Attack Points for every different Attribute of Odd-Eyes monsters in my Graveyard!" Yuya revealed.
"Different Attribute?!" Kaiba got alarmed.
"Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is Dark Attribute! Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon is Light Attribute! Vortex is Wind! Meteorburst is Fire! And Absolute is Water Attribute! Therefore, Circuit Dragon gains 5000 Attack Points!"
Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon (ATK: 3000→8000)
"8000 Attack Points…" Kaiba looked at the monster.
Baby Yusaku's eyes sparkled when he saw Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon and his father standing proud and tall. "D…Da…Dad…"
Serena gasped and looked at her son and she started to cry. "That's right…that's your dad…"
"Battle! Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon, attack Abyss-Eyes White Dragon!" Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon flew into the sky.
"But Abyss-Eyes White Dragon's effect activates! When it battles a monster that it is linked too, my opponent cannot use Magic, Trap or Monster Effects! In other words, Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon's Attack Point increase is negated!"
"Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon's effect activates! Once per turn, when an effect targets this monster, I can Special Summon an Odd-Eyes monster from my Graveyard, I redirect the effect to that monster instead! Return, Odd-Eyes Wizard Dragon (DEF: 2500, LV: 7)!" Odd-Eyes Wizard Dragon returned to the field.
"Now, your monster's effect will target Wizard Dragon, meaning it won't affect Circuit Dragon!" Yuya shouted.
"Yuya…" Kaiba looked at Yuya.
"Go! Spiral Circuit Strike!" Odd-Eyes Circuit Dragon unleashed its data breath attack and destroyed Abyss-Eyes White Dragon. The blast engulfed Kaiba as he let out a small smile.
Kaiba LP: 1400→0
Winner: Yuya Ryuga
The audience let out cheers as fireworks, confetti and streamers were released all over the field. Kaiba raised Yuya's arm in the air. "People of the United World! This is your King of Duels, Yuya Ryuga!" Kaiba announced.
Yuya looked at the stands where his family and friends were and they were all cheering for him loudly, but what brought a smile to his face was the happy expression that his sons and daughters were showing off.
"I'll definitely come back to see those smiles again." Yuya thought.
Maiami City – Airport (The Next Day)
Yuya had finished giving his kisses to his wives and children before grabbing his bag. "I'll be back, if you need anything call me."
"Take care, honey." Yuzu said.
"We'll have a big feast when you come back." Ruri said.
"Bring us some souvenirs when you get the chance." Rin added.
"Yusaku, is there something you want to say?" Serena looked down at her son.
"Dad…" Yusaku said his first word again.
"I'll be back soon, buddy." Yuya ruffled his hair. "Same to all of you. He ruffled Yukio's hair as well while giving Yumiko and Yuka a kiss. "Later." Yuya walked towards the plane as his family and friends waved goodbye to him.
Link VRAINS
On a rooftop in Link VRAINS, the Guardians of the United World were looking at the sky as they prepared their decks.
"Looks like he's gone." Jonouchi said.
"Yeah…" Rua admitted.
"It's too bad we couldn't see him off." Rio felt a little upset.
"But we'll definitely see him again. He'll defeat Genesis and come back to a peace free Link VRAINS." Blue Maiden finished her deck.
"You sure, you can handle it, Captain?" Asuka asked.
"I made a promise and I intend to keep it." Blue Maiden looked down from the rooftop. "They're here."
A bunch of Knights of Hanoi appeared in Link VRAINS and they started to attack other Duelists. "Let's go, Guardians!" Blue Maiden jumped down with Jonouchi, Asuka, Rua and Rio behind her.
"Duel!" The Guardians declared as they fought the Hanoi.
United World – Egypt, Cairo
Yuya walked out of the airport where he saw a familiar face at the gate with a bunch of strong men. "Atem! Or should I say, Pharaoh Atem!" Yuya smiled.
"It is customarily to bow to a person of royalty." Atem spoke in a stern voice and his expression was stoic, which made Yuya tense up.
"But you are the exception, my dear friend." Atem's expression changed to happiness and he opened his arms. The two friends hugged it out as they prepared for their biggest expedition yet.
And that is the end of Chapter 04. This was a really tough one to write since I wanted the Duel to be epic, but not make it too short or rushed. I hope it came out okay.
