Adventures away from Gallifrey.

Theta took a deep breath as he slowly walked through the repair workshops.

The TARDIS repair shop was more or less deserted. There was only him and the TARDISes here. And TARDISes were sentient time and spaceships. Many Time Lords didn't like the thought of their ships being sentient, but he actually liked it.

Even now, he could feel the vibrations in the air as the TARDISes hummed with power and life.

Several of the TARDISes here were just grey-silver cylinders. But more than a few of them had taken on different shapes. Even on Gallifrey, it was common. Right now there was a TARDIS which had taken on the shape of a Sontaran scout ship. Another had taken on the form of an ornate water fountain. There was a small rocket ship which looked like it had been battered by numerous asteroid collisions despite shielding.

In the dockyards, the TARDISes were locked in the more manageable form of a cylinder. But here, they were pretty much allowed to take whatever form they wished.

He had done his research, and he'd found that the Time Lords placed fewer security systems in the workshops than they did in the TARDIS dockyards. He guessed it made some sense, though. With how they were the most powerful ships in the universe, it would make sense the Time Lords would not want their precious TARDISes to fall into the hands of the lesser races or anyone too stupid to know better.

Clenching the key in his pocket, the young Junior Time Lord walked through the bay towards the old TT capsule he had just selected. When he'd gotten here about an hour ago, he had touched the surface of the outer shells of each capsule to get a feel of what they were like. There were only a few dozen TARDISes in this workshop.

The choices offered to the young Time Lord thief were virtually endless. There was a full roster of ships here, with various types of outdated and decommissioned models. There were broken and malfunctioning TARDISes here, some older than the Type 18 TARDIS and as new as the Type 77.

Theta had decided to keep away from the Type 18, recalling only too well how much trouble he'd gotten into when he had taken Rallon and Millennia with him to find the Guardians, only for them nearly to be captured by the Celestial Toymaker before he had outmanoeuvred the entity into playing a dangerous game, and tricked him in such a way he destroyed the Toyroom, giving the young Gallifreyans a chance to escape.

For years, Theta's life had not changed much and he had finally become a Junior Time Lord. But he had planned to leave Gallifrey. When he had first gone with his friends he had felt it right. For years he had wanted to wait until he was ready to leave the planet in his own TARDIS or spend some time away from Gallifrey until he could become a proper renegade. But in the end, he decided to do some travelling in a TARDIS and then return to Gallifrey, seeing if travelling in the universe was for him.

Some time ago, Theta had served on an old Type 40 TARDIS he had felt a true connection with, but the ship had suffered from numerous malfunctions for years. He had finally tracked the old ship down to here. As he slipped the key into the lock and turned it, the door opened easily and he found himself inside the gleaming console room.

As he walked up to the console, smiling as he took in the smells and the sights of the console room, feeling that welcome telepathic sensation in the back of his mind, Theta rested his hand on the console.

"You're the most beautiful thing I've ever known," he whispered before he grinned. "Let's go…everywhere, hmmm?"

After leaving Gallifrey in the dead of night on that planet, Theta Sigma travelled across the universe. He visited worlds from Calufrax Minor and Major, Argolis, Ribos, Peladon, gazed at the magnificent Glass Pyramids of Shankloon, travelled to the wormhole reefs that linked seventeen galaxies together and passed through one at random before he travelled to Earth for the first time. Arriving during Christmas time, the young Time Lord quickly got caught up in Christmas.

Theta had many adventures; after travelling back into the past, he accidentally got pressed into the service of the British navy and he witnessed the Battle of Trafalgar and many other conflicts before he found a chance to desert the ship and return to the TARDIS. He quickly left before the naval authorities tracked him down and flogged him.

But he returned to Earth again, this time he spent an unpleasant time in the London Underground as the German bombs heralded the infamous Blitz. Leaving that time, the young Time Lord wished there was something he could do before he realised that there was something he could do. Visiting Winston Churchill after using bluster and good old-fashioned Time Lord hypnotism, he gave the British Prime Minister some plans figures and formulas which would hopefully help in the war effort. Theta knew he was changing history, but since he knew timelines always flickered and changed just a little; so long as he didn't give them something like hyperspace or slip space travel too early, it was fine.

The TARDIS then took Theta to the 2020s. He had some fun watching movies and enjoying the sights of the post-war planet, and he gathered souvenirs. He wasn't best pleased by the sight of the conflicts of the era, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the new hostilities between Israel and Hamas which resulted in the loss of so many people. He had fun when he met scientists like Issac Newton and bards like Shakespeare and he wasn't averse to giving them some hints and tips. He had some delight in helping Louis Pasteur and helping to inspire Elvis Presley. He even gave Beethoven a hearing aid to let him hear his music, but he took it away, feeling the moment would remain one of the most uplifting moments in the composer's life.
