Coraline, Scooby and Courage stormed out of Coraline's Other bedroom, downstairs and to the hallway, they found nobody there. The small door was in the living room.
"It's not going to work," Courage whispered as he followed Coraline to the door, "She locked the door to that room."
"Maybe she unlocked it now," Coraline replied.
"Doubt it," Courage answered back.
They approached the den room door, and Coraline pulled hard on the handles to open it. Unfortunately it was locked as Courage had told her before. Scooby fought the urge to say 'I told you so', and the three of them went to the Other Father's study. Scooby and Courage both noticed a very frightening transformation of the Other Father. The room was darker, and his movement was slower. This place certainly warped into a nightmare fast.
"Hey, you," Coraline demanded, "Where's the Other Mother? We wanna go home."
"Rand where is my Raggy?" Scooby demanded hotly.
The Other Father hasn't moved or said anything, only tapping on the piano keys.
"Where. IS. SHAGGY!?" Courage demanded, getting worried by the second.
"All will be swell soon as Mother's refreshed. Her strength is our strength," Other Father said in a bit of a monotone voice, the joy that went with him was dead. The hands from the piano suddenly came out, one covered his mouth and the other waved a finger as if saying, 'naughty, naughty,' the hands went back into the piano.
Scooby and Courage both stiffened up at the scene, now glancing at the Other Father.
The Other Father turned around, "Mustn't talk when Mother's not around."
"If you won't even talk to us, we're gonna find the Other Wybie. He'll help us," Coraline said determined.
As Coraline and the puppies turned to go, the Other Father quick spoke and turning around to face them once more, "No point: he pulled a LOOOONNG FACE," the Other Father pulled at the end of his mouth stretching the ends down impossible far and ripping a few seams.
Coraline, Scooby and Courage all gasped in horror.
"And your mother didn't like it," the Other Father finished.
Scooby shrank back in terror, "Rhat's freaky."
Before Courage could even scream, the hands clapped his mouth shut like a punishment to him.
"I think we should leave…NOW!" Courage choked out, feeling like a cat was clawing his tongue.
Coraline and the puppies turned and fled. Forget finding someone to help them through the door: they just needed to get out of there and find Shaggy. They didn't care where they're going, they needed to GET OUT NOW.
They ran out toward the woods where they'd find the old well. After they were sure nobody was following them, they slowed down, still wary of their surrounding and sticking close to each other. They were a little startled to hear a meow, and they looked down to see the cat walking beside them.
"And what do you think you're doing?" he asked looking at them.
"Well, we're getting out of here," Coraline answered.
"Rinding my Raggy," Scooby continued.
"That's what we're doing," Courage finished.
They were a little weirded out as it seemed to just end, leaving just a white void. Literally, there was NOTHING else out there. It was like a blank piece of paper, and the only things were Scooby, Courage, Coraline and the cat. They seemed to be walking on air, but it felt like the ground to them.
"Huh? Something's wrong," Coraline pointed out, "Shouldn't the old well be out here?"
"Nothing out here," the cat replied.
"Rothing?" Scooby questioned.
"It's the empty part of this world. She only made what she knew would impress you," the cat continued.
"Well, that explains it," Courage said.
"But why?" Coraline asked, "Why does she want us?"
"She wants something to love, I think," the cat replied, "Something that isn't her. Or maybe...she'd just love something to eat."
Scooby and Courage both swallowed hard upon a sickening thought that entered their minds. Was this all a monster trying to eat them, or was it just a lonely creature wanting something to love? What did sewing buttons into their and Coraline's eyes have to do with all this?
"Eat? That's ridiculous," Coraline reasoned, "Mothers don't eat…kids."
"I don't know," the Cat said, "How do you three taste?"
The Cat chuckled, making Coraline look queasy and Scooby and Courage looked warily terrified about them being dinner to that MONSTER.
Scooby and Courage both had now reasoned that whatever the Other Mother was, it wasn't a mother at all. They didn't know what exactly it was or what it wanted with them so badly. Why them of all people? That doll didn't look like Coraline as a coincidence. If only they knew the answers to all these questions. That, or if they could just get get Shaggy back and go to the door back to the real world then this whole mess would be over, right? Perhaps.
The group soon see the Other Pink Palace all white.
"Row did we end up back here?" Scooby questioned.
"How can you walk away from something and still come back to it?" Coraline asked.
All of the color of the Other world came back as well.
"Walk around the world," the Cat retorted.
"Small world," Coraline answered.
"Reah, I'll say," Scooby agreed.
The Group soon heard a fanfare playing.
"Hang on," the Cat said as he pounced to a bush causing a mouse to squeak and jump out of the bush.
It was about to blow again, until the Cat pinned the mouse.I t was then one of the circus mice played it's little trumpet, and the cat went to attack it. Scooby and Courage had no thoughts on the matter, but Coraline was concerned.
"Stop, he's one of the circus mice!" she exclaimed.
The Cat soon played with the mouse, until it was in his mouth, it squeaked until the cat bit down, killing it.
Coraline soon gasped at that, but she along with Scooby and Courage were shocked as sawdust leaked out of the mouse as it transformed into its true form: a dirty, old beat up rat with button eyes.
Scooby and Courage both stared, frozen with fear, as Coraline gasped again.
The cat put the rat down so as to speak: "I don't like rats at the best of times, but this one was sounding an alarm."
With that, the cat carried the rat off, leaving Scooby, Courage and Coraline alone. Coraline had one thing to say: "Good kitty."
They went to the front porch, and that's where Coraline was able to find a crowbar to break the handles of the door to the room where the little door was. No handles, no locked doors, which meant they could get in and go home. They still had the key after all.
Well that's all for now (I hope I get this done before Halloween.) . This is vakarns signing off.
