Chapter 19: Borderline

Damon

"Enzo."

The dark vampire glares for mere moments before finally speaking. "In the flesh."

His fingers clenched as he dug his nails into the wood of the table. Apparently in all the time Enzo had been wallowing in self pity and anger. He had time for jokes. He, however was not impressed at all.

Licking his teeth he turns to look at the man who now joins him. "How long did it take you to come with that one?" he asks making small talk.

Enzo cracks his knuckles. "Oh, I came up with that as soon as I got off the phone with you the first time." The vampire says eyes void of much emotion. "You do remember that- don't you? When you implied, the love of my life, the woman I love, cut you loose."

Instantly he's baring his teeth. "You know nothing about us, about what we share." He admits gruffly. It was common that people thought they knew the inner working of his relationship with Bonnie, but they didn't.

Enzo only rolls his eyes. "Oh please, I may not be privy to how deep your so called connection goes," Pause. "But I know you, and I know how you look when a woman doesn't want you." Enzo then looks him in the face. "And by the looks of it, Bonnie, wants you as much as she wants me. Which translates to, she doesn't want you at all." A sardonic smile etched on his lips.

He doesn't say anything and instead plays the role of the jaded best friend that fell in love with the witch.

"Well then, I guess that calls us even." Enzo says all to happy. The jolly vampire then orders a round of drinks and dares to wink his way.

Bonnie

Once out of the shower, I grab my favorite fluffy white towel and get to drying my skin. Satisfied I begin my routine of lotion, oil and everything else a girl needed to feel pampered and amazing after a long shower and even longer night of sweating it out.

I use my hand to wipe the condensation and finally get a good look at myself. My eyes look brighter, my skin even looks better, it almost as if I'm glowing. Panicked I move away from the mirror. What in the world was going on? My skin never glowed like this and my eyes never were as green as they were right now. The only thing that had been different was I talked to Klaus about things I hadn't share with anyone like ever. And then I bedded him like it was our last night on earth.

I had to believe that this sudden glow was due to the after effects of everything that Klaus and I had shared in the last few hours.

That was it.

This sudden glow wasn't because I was falling for him, nope it was because I had fun with him, and I enjoyed his company.

Looking back into the mirror I willed myself to get a grip. If only the sudden butterflies in my stomach would stop fluttering.

BB-BB-BB

It's an hour and fifteen minutes later and I'm putting the finishing touches to my face when Klaus finally sits up in bed. The sheets pool around his waist and he has this come hither look on his face, though he really says nothing at all. I glance behind me once and then go back to getting ready.

I can feel eyes on me, and wonder if I should've gotten ready in the bathroom? I'm dressed I'm dressed in my favorite black and pink bra and panty set with a pink silk robe adorning my body, while finishing my look up. However, I feel eyes watching me, and I am not have animal instinct but I have Klaus radar and my radar is telling me that he's about to make a move.

In a blink he's behind me dressed from the navel down. His arms encircle around me, making my skin run hot all over again.

"While you were taking your luxurious shower, I realized something," Klaus says as his stubble rubs against my skin.

"What?" I ask playing along. He's in such a good mood I figure we still have time, to play this game.

"You were wrong." He says simply. "You said we didn't have time." He says nuzzling my neck. "But in the end we were able to go three rounds and one last kiss."

I could feel my face flushing with every word he said.

"Just think of the things you and I are capable of accomplishing together." He says holding onto my hand.

For someone who had/ has the reputation of a villain straight up out of a horror movie, Klaus is very affectionate post coital. Which makes it worst, is that I'm the same way, and instead of putting much needed distance between us, I only lean back into him.

My head tilts to the side as he runs his nose along the side of my neck, stopping to place a kiss on the nape of my neck. "I was wrong." I say causing him to stop all movements.

Klaus only grips me tighter. "Say that again love." He whispers against my ear.

I furrow my eyebrows as he stares at me through the mirror, his dimples are on full display.

"You were right, I was wrong."

He grins now, full on grin and I'm grinning right back at him. "Now that is music to my ears love." He says smacking my ass.

I watch him walk away as he bend to pick up a tattered shirt. "Now about this shirt you've thrashed."

Finished with my face I turn to look at him. "Why don't you just wear one of D's." I say reaching for my jewelry. "He's got enough clothes to donate to a small country." I rattle on. "I always tell him he loves to shop enough for the both of us. I mean dudes got a lot of clothes, it's ridiculous really."

When I'm finished talking Klaus is clutching his chest. "I think that actually might end me."

I shake my head, all the while reaching for my perfume. "All that talk about invincibility and wearing a shirt owned by Damon is the one to take you out." I turn to face him. "How tragic and anticlimactic."

In an instant Klaus has an arm around my waist. "That has never been problem with us." He says huskily. "If we had more time, I'd remind you- yet again."

I tilt my head to the side as my hand reaches out to touch his face. "Don't make this complicated."

"So now that you've had your way with me, I'm a complication?" He asks brows raised.

I'm smiling now. "To the highest degree." I say pulling away from him. "Seriously though, my batteries need to recharge," I say walking over to the closet and finding what I'm wearing to church today. "Somebody drained them." I say looking over my shoulder to see Klaus looking at me smugly. "Anyway," I say grabbing my dress out of the closet. "You're either leaving shirtless with your leather jacket on or," I leave my words hanging.

Klaus is close to me in an instant. "If his mediocrity is contagious, this is on you." He growls as he palms my ass.

I snort. "If mediocrity was contagious, I would've caught it from Elena."

Beautiful lips curve as he holds back a chuckle."Get dressed." He says his lips close to mine.

Just as he's about to leave I stop him. "Wait can you zip me up?"

Soon as the words leave my mouth something in his eyes change, moments ago they were dancing but now, his eyes are soft as cotton candy.

Suddenly I'm paralyzed by the look in his eyes, and the butterflies that begin to swarm my stomach.

Suddenly my alarm goes off again, causing the moment between us to fade. Quickly, I hop into my dress I pull it up as Klaus come sauntering my way. His head falls against the nape of my neck again his breath heavy on my neck.

"Klaus." I call.

"Yeah, I know." His hands find its way to the zipper of her clothes. As he looks into eyes that are mirroring his own. Pupils dilated to the max. Her lips are swollen from his kisses. Her breathing ragged, heart pumping glorious blood throughout her body.

He wants to devour her to melt into her, to have her, to keep touching her. He wants it all in this very moment, fast, slow and everything in between. But what he wants most is her, all the time. What he really wants, is for her to be his.

When I turn around the look I saw earlier is still prominent in his eyes. He doesn't say anything just walks me backwards so my back is against the wall. Then he leans down and puts his ear to my chest. At first I think he's about to pull something but when he pulls away, his eyes are intense as ever.

"Your heart, it's beating fast, for me." He proclaims. A look of wonder crosses his features.

I open my mouth to say something when he swallows my words. It only lasts a few seconds but it feels like an entirety.

When he pulls away he looks almost as stunned as I.

With wide eyes he speaks "I should,"

"Go, get that shirt, yeah." I say finishing his words.

This time when he does leave, I let out a staggered breath.

Enzo

He had to admit, driving down here to see Damon Salvatore, the very same man who singlehandedly imploded his relationship with Bonnie, had been something that had been on his mind for a long time. He had wanted a one on one with the blue eyed vamp for a long time. Of course in all his fantasies about said vampire, they'd duke it out for the love of Bonnie. The last man standing would lay claim to her and that would be it. But now that he had a chance to let everything marinate he thought of things differently now. He still hated Damon, that would never change. His end game had just change ever so slightly.

Bonnie had hurt him, she hurt him when she continuously chose Damon over him. She hurt him even more when she ended things. And after stewing for a long enough period, he realized the only way to hurt Bonnie was to hurt Damon, or at least get to Damon. And so, that was why he was here.

Walking into the bar, he had spotted the loves bitch of a vampire and instantly felt a sensation of elation at the whole scenario. No, he was no longer harboring a crush on Damon that ship had sailed the moment Bonnie had opened her heart to him. But now though, he was tickled pink to see that the man that had taken Bonnie away from him, was now in shattered pieces because of said girl.

Leaning close he admires the picture that Damon seems to hold so dear. Peering over the blue eyed vampire shoulder– even he can admit that Damon and Bonnie looked good together, it was just a shame that he and Bonnie looked far better.

"She's beautiful isn't she?" He drawls taking a seat next to Damon.

He signals the bartender to fix them a round, while Damon just looks at him, like he's interrupted something private. He's sure the poor bloke has had many private times with that picture and the many other pictures of Bonnie Bennett. Now though, Damon is clutching his phone, much like he clutched Bonnies bear when it had her magic, or the hundreds of times he watched the two of them hug it out.

As if realizing that he'd been caught dreamily looking at his so called best friend, the blue eyed vampire, quickly places the phone in his favorite leather jacket. It sickens him to know that Bonnie has the same exact jacket, a gift from her best friend. Thinking back, he wonders if it was a way for Damon to say that Bonnie would always belong to him.

"Ye-yeah she is." Damon finally admits teeth clenched together. His phone vibrates and once again the glacier eyed man pulls it out, only for Elena Gilbert to be calling. The phone call is quickly sent voice mail and he can only chuckle. The Gilbert girl had no idea, but then again she had always been self absorbed.

He chuckles darkly at the mere fact that Damon Salvatore is stammering. It's just a testament to what Bonnie Bennett could make any man do. He'd say it was magic, but really it was just her.

Silence falls between them as everyone else around them seems to be enjoying life. No instead they are two broken hearted vampires by the same woman.

"You and Elena on the outs?" He asks conversationally.

Damon only looks over at him slowly saying nothing, but his silence says it all.

"Let me guess, Bonnie Bennett?" He says eyeing the man next to him. He notices that way the vampire holds his glass, the way he swallows hard but most importantly how he tries to pretend that he's unaffected which really means, he's is affected by the mention of Bonnie and probably Elena in the same sentence.

When Damon only furthers to sit in silence, he uses this begin his own spider web.

"You're not the only one she's trapped in her spider-web." He says as the bartender brings over food and appetizers. "She's everything a vampire could want. She's a devoted person, and all around good girl, with stunning features, nice tits, an ass that needs to sculpted so you could look at it all day and night and," He grins darkly. "Not one, but two pairs of succulent lips."

Those mere truthful words seem to send the blue eyed vampire on a rampage because soon all he's see's is wild blue eyes and a broken bottle is at his neck. "Don't you ever talk about her like that. You put some respect in your voice whenever you speak of her." Damon says with rage.

He could deal with rage! And Damon is an angry man for so many reasons. He could list them all but why would he even waste his time.

Instead he just starts laughing because this whole thing is comical as fuck to him. Damon was supposed to be the cool vampire, he was the wild one, the one everyone wanted and he was knocked down by his very own best friend. It was perfect!

"Go ahead, do it-" He says rocking his head from side to side.

Instead of doing so, Damon only tosses the bottle down. "I meant what I said, you say something bad about her again, and I won't be so forgiving." Damon says hopping back on his barstool.

He rubs his next. "I could've said much worst." He snaps. "I think you're just mad because unlike me, she never let you have the pleasure."

Damon only picks up his bourbon. "You don't know a thing about me and Bon." The blue eyed vampire says yet again.

He chuckles darkly. " I know that if you had her, you wouldn't be here with me."

Damon clenches the glass so hard it breaks in his hand.

This probably the most fun he's had in a couple of hours and it's well deserved. They all deserved to pay for his heartache. Bonnie and Damon, they were what ruined him, and deserved every bit of pain because of it.

Rotating his neck is gets back in his chair. "You were the one that called me, not the other way around." He reminds the gloomy vampire. "Was it because I was the only one to know what it felt like to bewitched by that bitch only for her to find comfort in another?"

Draining his drink, the glacier eyed vampire speaks. "You don't know what you're talking about," pause. " You don't know the kind of bond, Bonnie and I share."

Having enough he turns to his old friend, the closets thing he had to a best friend. "I know everything!" he says his voice loud. "I watched that shit play out in front of my own eyes!"

He wants more, more of a reaction but Damon is playing this like he's Stefan and it's driving him up the wall. He wanted to push all the right buttons and get under the blue eyed vampire skin, but Bonnie had already beat him to it. He couldn't even get his revenge right now– Bonnie had robbed him of it. Now he was stuck with Damon looking at him like a sad mess.

Once upon a time he had wanted to rip out the blue eyed vampires heart and send it to the love of his life. Bonnie would've been horrified! She'd blame herself and he would not miss the chance to rub it in his face. Now though, Bonnie had done all the heavy lifting and all that was left is to get Damon to turn it off, come over to his side and relish in chaos they could create.

It would, in the end break Bonnie and her heart to know she created not one, but two monsters.

Just as he was poised to nudge Damon in his direction, the man himself speaks.

"She, told me we needed space." The older vampire says. "As if I could do that– as if I could really leave her...after all we've been through." Damon chuckles now before tossing back a drink.

He picks up a cold fry. Damon is so dramatic at least he wasn't thinking about marriage, no that was him. "Oh stop your whining, we were in love and she left me for your sorry ass."

Damon nods thoughtfully. "What Bonnie and I have, words can't really explain it, we just kind of fell into it." The vampire says more to himself then to him.

He can only roll his eyes. "You know, I don't care to listen to your love story when you ruined mine."

Damon glares at him. "Take a number." He says glibly. "All the moments we shared Enzo, the closeness, the talks," pause. "We didn't even get naked and she became my–"

He's not so far detached not to remember the feeling it felt to be loved by Bonnie, to be wrapped up in Bonnie. "She becomes your everything." He finishes knowing where Damon is coming from. "Its not us," He says finally. "It's her. She gets into your veins making you addicted to her." he nods his head as memories that haunt him come to focus. "Then she's gets into your heart and rips it out."

Damon stares forward. "After everything we meant to each other, she wants a break and I don't know what to do." He looks over now. "I feel like I'm losing my mind."

He smiles now. "Join the club." He says a touch of sadness to his voice. "I use to watch the two of you, how you just gravitated to each other. How she hung on your every word." He sucks his teeth. "You two were into each other and I was on the outside looking in." He says getting angry with each word that was spoken.

The blue eyed vampire looks down now. "I don't know when it happened, but it happen."

He can only click his tongue. "Does Elena know you were willing to toss her away for a roll in the hay with the bestie?"

Blue eyes narrow. "It's more than that– I'm in love with her."

The words should stun him but really he always knew and so did everyone who had ever seen Damon and Bonnie together.

"Well Damon, that makes two of us." Grin. "Now I don't know about you, but I don't want to think about her, or the ring I wear around my neck, the one I was gonna propose to her with. She left me for you! I shouldn't give a damn about your feelings but with you I'm not alone in this."

They were always one in the same.

Damon stands to his full height. "What do you have in mind?"

He grins menacing. "We turn it all off and then we paint the town red. And in the wake, we write a love letter to that bitch that broke both our hearts."

Klaus

The ride had been fairly short. He and Bonnie hadn't spoken but it was just fine. He found himself to lost in thought to carry a conversation right now. She had been on his mind, from the way she fit him, to the way she smiled over at him. When he was with her, he didn't feel lonely, not for a moment– because Bonnie brought with her the sun. She was, what all the poets had written about, but something...someone he had never encountered until now.

Parking the car, he spots Camille and father Kieran. They stand together outside the church greeting people. Lucy and Danny our down at the bottom of the steps talking closely. Bringing his eyes back to Bonnie and her powder blue dress, he can still hear her heart beating, a song that he enjoys very much.

"Thanks for the ride." She says giving him a slanted smile.

He wiggles his eyebrows. "Which ride?"

She snorts and shakes her head. "Really in front of a church?"

He only shrugs his shoulders. "I'm only being honest." Smile. "But for what it's worth. The pleasure was all mine."

"Seriously Klaus," She says her skin reddening at his words. "I should go."

He brings his hand down to finger the hickey he had left on her neck, the same hickey she hadn't removed, instead she pulled her hair forward covering it. As he caresses the skin, his inner wolf growls deep within his chest. "Mine." is what the wolf says. "Mate. Our mate"

He ignores the words and instead concentrates on her. "Let me walk you."

And that he does. Once out the car, he opens the door for her and even offers his arm which Bonnie takes. When they make it to Lucy and Danny the two gossips are looking at the two of them wide eye.

"Bonnie, Klaus nice of you to join us." Danny says. "Lucy and I were wondering what was taking you so long, but I guess we got out answer." Danny says with a grin. "Get it, girl!"

He slides his eyes over ever to Bonnie, to see her skin is reddening all over again. "Danny!"

"What? I'm not the only one thinking it."

Bonnie only glares. "Lucy, you can jump in any minute now."

Lucy who looks mildly disinterested waves her hand and Bonnie only fume further. Its quite the sight to see. "I mean, he's right."

Bonnie only crosses her arms under her breast. "Seriously Lucy!"

Danny rolls his eyes. "She's trippin over her situation with Elijah."

That was when he drew the line. Hearing about Elijah was not on his list of things to know about today. Though he and his brother were due for a talk.

"Bonnie, can I have a moment?" He asks not giving her time to answer before pulling her away by the elbow.

He wants some semblance of privacy but figures that with supernatural ears everywhere, privacy is something that only happens on a rare occasion. When he's found the perfect spot he speaks, all the while looking at her pinched lips.

"We had fun." He says conversationally.

"Yeah we did." She says frown disappearing.

"I was thinking, it could continue at my place." He suggest causing her to look scandalized.

"I'm not having some sort of walk of shame 2 run in with Elijah, the first time is still burned into my mind." She says arms crossed in front of her chest. "

He walks closer to her so that their feet are touching. "It was the first night that started it all." He says a grin forming on his lips. He wants to say something about how she can't get enough of him and he's about to say it when squints at him, as if reading his mind.

All he can do is chuckle. "Hope, she likes to have afternoon tea, and perhaps you want to join us?" He waits, and waits and waits what seems like eons. She's got him out here looking like Elijah, while his wolf is roaring for him to claim her and all he wants is to bask in the fact that with her, he feels less lonely. It's like all that weighs him down is nothing but a figment of his imagination when he's with her.

She smiles first and he knows he doesn't have to worry that she wont reject him. "I'd like that."

"Good." He says placing a kiss to her forehead. "I'll have a car pick you up after church.

She nods and he resists the urge to kiss her in front of everyone, instead he walks her back to Lucy and Danny.

On his way back to the car, he catches those who were probably whispering about the scandal of he and Bonnie. Instead of baring teeth, he only grins.

Bonnie

When Klaus pulls off I turn back to Lucy and Danny who are looking expectantly my way.

"So you and Klaus are like getting serious, so serious he brought you to church." Lucy says beaming my way.

I hold my hand up. "Please don't think I forgot about your whole Elijah situation, what happened? Do I need to kick an originals butt, because let me tell you he would be first on my list." I say eagerly, maybe a little too eagerly because Lucy is starting to look suspicious. I never did tell her anything about my dislike for Elijah but I guess she was starting to pick up on it.

Lucy only makes a sound like a cat who has it's claws out. "Is that deflection in your voice or is it something else?"

"No that would be the echo of your own deflection." I say and it's then that me and Lucy catch eyes and then start laughing. Obviously the Mikaelson brothers were rubbing off on us.

Danny comes between the two of us putting his arms around each of us. "As much as I would love to hear the two of you continue this mess of a conversation, I have a solo to get ready for, so I'll see you inside."

With that Danny leaves running up the steps of the church.

We still have about five minutes so Lucy and linger for a bit.

"You're wearing grams necklace." Lucy points out.

"Yeah. I wanted to be closer to her." I say fingering the necklace. "I felt like she'd be proud to know that her to granddaughters are continuing on with her tradition every way possible."

Lucy grins. "I guess great minds think alike." Lucy says fixing her hat. "This was hers, she was always so fierce especially when it came to her church hats and dresses."

We share a look before linking arms, only to be stopped by a voice.

Then rain comes down instantly pelting us with it.

Dark clouds swarm the sky where it was once clear and bright, a beautiful day.

"What do we have here, two Bennett women without your Mikaelson men." The woman says her voice dripping with disdain.

Ever so slowly we turn around to see the face I had dreamed about all those nights before. The sky that was once so bright with the sun is now grey and dark, just like her energy.

"You." I say stepping forward, only for Lucy to bring me back.

Instead Lucy does all talking.

"You're the woman who came into my shop last night, you were bitter then and I see you're still bitter now." Lucy says moving forward, only for me to join her.

The woman only laughs. "When you're ready to face the truth about your men, come see me. I shouldn't be hard to find." She now grins. "If not, ask your men." She says her red lips turning into a bright smile showing white teeth.

"Wait." I say as she's about to snap her fingers. "What's your name? You seem to know so much about us, about the Bennett Family and obviously the Mikaelson family, yet we don't even know your name." I say wiping the hard rain out of my eyes.

The woman looks me up and down before walking closer. "Know that, I wasn't always like this, they made me this way. And soon you and Lucy will be the same as me, so my name doesn't really matter, because soon you'll be me."

I glare her way. "I want answers!" I say as a wave of magic leaves me quickly. Her magic does the same yet neither of us go any further.

Grinning the red lipstick wearing witch nods her head as if impressed. "Today my name is Betty, but tomorrow my name could be Sabine and the day after that Katherine, and the following day Greta, or Amara, Celeste, Lucy or Bonnie."

"You forgot the name Bitch." I say still glaring.

She chuckles. "I'll be seeing you both again, and soon you and everyone else will know who I really am, till then, know I'm coming after you're men and I wont stop till they are nothing but a bad memory to everyone they infected."

I'm about to say something else, when she snaps her fingers.

Within a blink the rain has stopped, or rather the illusion has stopped all together.

Once the spell ends I look to Lucy who is looking at me. " Okay, it's obvious Bitter Betty is just trying to get a rise out of us, she probably saw you and Klaus and freaked out."

I furrow my brows. "Because me and Klaus is such a bad thing?"

"No." Lucy says putting her hands on my shoulders. "Because she seems obsessed with Klaus and Elijah."

"How do you know this?" I ask watching her sudden movements.

Lucy sighs. "She came to my shop last night, we had words it was similar to your words with her."

"Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?" I ask running my hands through my hair.

"Because," Lucy says crossing her arms in front of her chest. "You rolled up glowing, I wasn't going to bring you down." pause. "By the way, you're like glowing."

"Lets not talk about that." I say causing Lucy to roll her eyes at me.

I nibble on my lip. "It's not like we didn't know they have enemies." I say steering the conversation back to what important.

Lucy puts her arm around me. "Exactly! Come on Bonnie, we can't let her and her bitterness ruin our Sunday."

I nod. "You're right." I say looking back to where the woman had stood before. After a second I turn back to Lucy. "Lets go."
