And I am back with the third chapter to the Marvelous Devil Volume, and boy am I loving it. Though I will admit this chapter is a little more, not edgy but more serious but that's not TMD Ragna's specialty and I plan to change that once the next and final chapter for the arc concludes. Anyways lets get into the review responses.
Bromega2477: Eventually, but first we gotta focus on Trish. Enjoy!
Jebest4781: Thanks man I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Hunter41963801: Thanks. I do take suggestions, but the Homelander I already have that planned out but I would love to hear more ideas.
Yakuza2010: Yeah TMD Ragna got quite a road though he doesn't have as long as a catch up since his power was much more condensed and not as spent as ADJ Ragna, you'll understand when I get to it. There is an Omniverse, I don't think I'll do a DMC/MHA story but we'll see. I think I remember the show you're talking about but I barely remember it. though the idea is actually really good and I'll find some sort of way to put it into the story, just probably not anytime soon since I already have a lot of volumes planned.
Sakra95: Probably won't but it would be funny.
Blindluck92: I don't blame them, Ragna is just pure Devil Energy lol. Oh yeah those were fun little references, one of many I'm gonna try and use for the series since the DMC Reboot was...bad, it was bad in story but gameplay was fun. No, no he is not ready for the Big M but that is sadly not in Ragna's favor. Enjoy!
Phoinex slayer5: Thanks! Enjoy!
SaiyaSage: Yes every story needs one cept yours, they're all edgy lol. Well don't worry you will find out how he got his powers in the ADJ Special: Year One which comes out after Heaven's Shadow (Working on chapter as you read). I've said this somewhere before (Or just in my head) but TMD Ragna is the more refined Ragna of the two, like the final draft to what I originally wanted but was worried. ADJ is still my baby, but TMD deserves his own podium. Yes it was shown in the first chapter that Penny and Gwen already have powers, and will be shown soon. Thanks, enjoy!
And with that, Ladies and Gents, onto the story!
Chapter Three: Birth of a Hero Part Three: With Great Powers
(The Marvelous Devil)
Ragna stared down at the strange yet beautiful woman standing before him, and he couldn't help but wonder why she looked exactly like his dead mother. Wait, was it weird that he found her hot even though she resembled his mom…question for later. The woman in question was walking up to Ragna, eyes shimmering with interest and playfulness, almost goading the teen to make a move. Her features were sharp and yet for the moment Ragna felt safe in her gaze, it wasn't motherly like Leslie's or Cass but more soft like Penny's.
"Hmm….interesting."
"Hu-H-HEY!" Ragna exclaimed as the woman twirled around his body, wrapping her hands around his stomach, before moving back to his chest, rubbing her hands up and down his chest. He loved a little handsy action but buy him a drink first.
"Muscles are hard and appropriate to handle the power, but they seem new, were you a little tubby before all of this?"
"Hey I worked out plenty before my sexy muscles ki-GAH!" To Ragna's surprise she placed her hands on his shoulders and without much effort forced him on his knee. This really surprised Ragna as she didn't seem like a strong or muscular woman, and yet she did it so effortlessly like he was paperweight…..it would be really hot and play into his muscular woman fantasy if he wasn't getting annoyed by her.
"Can you please let me fi-GUAK!" Ragna's eyes widened as her hands dipped into his mouth and opened it up, running her nails against his teeth.
"You brush regularly which is good…..they aren't sharp so you haven't shifted yet." The woman, Trish if he recalled, muttered as she reached for his eyelids and opened them up checking his eyeballs.
"Hmm, it seems it has shifted once but no signs of a true awakening, which isn't entirely a good thing but not completely terrible. And your hair, strange, you definitely didn't inherit it from your mother and definitely not your old ma-!"
"Okay get off me!" Ragna exclaimed, pulling his body away from the woman and standing back up dusting himself.
"Gee, thanks lady for the weird physical check up." Ragna mumbled sarcastically, Trish letting out a few small clicks from her tongue.
"Right, sorry, but I had to make sure your body was ready for when your powers awakened. Humans can't naturally wield demonic powers or else their bodies would be torn to shreds, but you're different since you are a Son of Sp-!"
"Nothing you just said made a single lick of sense, lady." Ragna cut her off, rubbing his head in annoyance.
"None of this makes any sen…Oh my god…..I figured it all out." Ragna's eyes widened with a recognition of clarity, staring at Trish who cocked an eyebrow in confusion.
"I…..I died. Oh my god, that homeless man killed me and….and I isekai'd in a whole other universe like my own. Where I have all the stupid powers and a harem of hot women…I hate isekai…..but I love women…Such a hard choice…but only the hard choices require the strongest wi-OW! OW!" Ragna cried out as Trish reached out and began pinching his cheek, it was way worse then what Gwen has ever done.
"Trust me kid, you ain't dead….if you were, you would be down there." Trish pointed down at their feet.
"Where you would be tortured for all of time by those betrayed by your father." Trish finished as she let go of Ragna's cheek, the hybrid rubbing his bruised cheek. Okay…..so it was all still real….great.
"So….So I-!"
"A Son of Sparda, yeah." Ragna looked up at the statue of his supposed father, the resemblance was…..well the statue was not much to get at so he had no idea.
"...Trish, was it?"
"Still is." Trish teased with a smirk.
"Right, hey listen I don't think you get it that I'm not in the mood for whatever it is your do-!"
"And I don't think you get it, Son of Sparda, so I'll make it quick and simple." Trish stated, leaning forward and pressing a finger against his chest.
"You don't have a choice in this, you are a hybrid: Son of a demon warrior and a human woman. You are a special case because regular humans cannot handle the power of the Devil, and you are going to need it if you want to survive the storm that is approaching. Ancala is only the beginning, and he is nothing in comparison for what is coming." Trish warned.
"Ancawhat?" Ragna asked, Trish rolled her eyes before reaching into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She held it up and played a video, Ragna seeing the footage of the beasts rampage from yesterday, seeing it crashing into a building.
"You know you should be more worried about this."
"Okay, for what? The thing is dead, why should I care?" Ragna asked, but Trish simply played another clip, showing the news footage of the inside. To his surprise it showed the crater where this so-called Ancala crashed….only for nothing to be there.
"Ancala has gotten away, and now he has your scent…..and it's only a matter of time before he finds you again." Trish warned. Ragna did feel his heart beat a bit faster at the thought of that creature finding him again….what if it found Penny, Gwen, Ky-NO
"No. No! There's no way that is how everything conveniently works." Ragna stepped back away from the lady. None of this made sense, or maybe it did and he just didn't wanna believe it-No this is bullcrap, all of this was just too much, and it did little to help clear his head. He wanted to find his own answers and yet this lady out of nowhere just makes it all the more frustrating.
"Sadly it is, and I'm sorry but you don't have a choice in it-!"
"Listen, Trish~~! I don't even know you or why you look like my dead mother, but I sure don't trust you, so keep you and your amazing rack away from me!" Ragna warned, turning away and walking from the blonde, Thrush standing there with a frown as he walked away.
"You have to accept soon, Son of Sparda, you can't fight against your powers and your nature!" Trish exclaimed, Ragna letting out an exasperated groan as he left the park, Trish letting out a heavy sigh.
"He'll come around, one way or another."
(The Marvelous Devil)
"Okay kids the results of your test will be on the billboard tomorrow, and be sure to steady page twenty five through eight for homework tonight." Miss Roman ordered, watching as her students packed up and began leaving. Ragna was one of the last few, taking his time and just trying to live in the moment, as it apparently might be his last.
"Mr. Redgrave, I wish to speak with you for a moment." Miss Roman as she leaned on her desk.
"Bet you he got caught sniffing her seat." Two girls whispered just loud enough behind Ragna as they left the classroom, the hybrid not having the energy to correct them and deny it but he just didn't care at this moment….not like he gave them the choice. Choice. Choice.
"Mr. Redgrave." Ragna stood from his desk and made his way to the front, standing before the teacher. Miss Roman reached behind her desk and grabbed a piece of paper, handing it over Ragna to see it was his test results, and it wasn't good.
"Wow. Straight zero. That's a new one. Ya know someday I'm sure I'll get a hundred." Ragna mused as he handed the paper back, but he stopped seeing Miss Roman's cocked eyebrow, an unamused frown on her lips.
"As you know Mr. Redgrave this school is one of the most prestigious schools in the US, with a very high percentage rate in grades. Even the 'lowest' such as yourself get C's and B's and even an A in history, and yet somehow you got a zero on a history test."
"Yeah…..Crazy times we live in, I guess." Miss Roman shook her head as she took the paper and placed it down.
"...You're trying to fail, Mr. Redgrave, you're trying to stop pursuing a future…..and we won't let you." Ragna didn't need to think hard on what she meant, Aunt Leslie, Cass, and the girls. They all believed in him, they wanted him to succeed, to have some future….one that he didn't want. He wanted to succeed, but it seemed like he didn't have the choice.
"Is something wrong, Ragna? Is it about yesterday with the monster attack?" Miss Roman asked, using Ragna's name, one of the few times she does.
"Oh….Uh-Naw, I was fine. In fact I was the farthest away from that, so far I wasn't even aware until I got to school." Ragna lied, biting his upper lips in embarrassment.
"Right, well Mr. Redgrave I just want you to focus, you're nearing your final year here in Redgrave Academy. Out of most students you are one of the few if only one to not have a single offer of a scholarship." Miss Roman stated. It was out of the ordinary for this Academy to not have a student without a scholarship and if it wasn't through academics it was through sports like Flash and others. But for Ragna, he was here via influence by his Aunt Leslie because she wanted him a bright future…was he doing this out of resentment because of it? No, he loved his Aunt Leslie, but it simply raised the question. Why?
"Mr. Redgrave we just want to have a bright future, we have big expectations, and your choices decide it." She knew how close he was to the three girls: Penny Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Kyrie Eleison. While not the WHOLE thing, she knew they cared for him deeply, and wanted him to succeed like her. Hell, she was able to put in a good word for Miss Parker to the famed and young eccentric scientist Octavius. She just wanted Ragna to have a choice in his life, a future…not like the one she had.
Choices. Choices.
"There it is again." Ragna sneered, shaking his head.
"Hmm?"
"...Miss Roman, no offense, but it seems like everyone has been making the choices for me, not even letting me decide what or who I wanna be. And why do I have to decide now? Why can't I just worry about it later, on my terms?" Ragna asked. Was this about his sudden origins? Or was this about school? Right now he can't even decide, and it is making him mad. Miss Roman sighed as she stood up and walked around her desk.
"Ragna, sometimes we don't have choices in life in what we are, but we do have choices in what we can be."
"...So you chose to be a teacher?" Ragna asked. While Redgrave Academy had no problem with the teacher payment from what his Aunt told him…but he can't say for the rest of the country.
"I like helping push students in the right direction. That's what Penny and your friend want, what Miss Cardinay wants….what I want for you." Miss Roman finished as the bell rang.
"I'll have a slip for your next teacher, and by tomorrow I want you to have an idea of what you wanna be. I believe in you." With that Ragna left the classroom with a slip, thinking about Miss Roman's words. He didn't wanna fail, it's not like he hated the idea of a future….but it just seemed like everyone wanted it now. Why did he need it now? Why not in a week or a month? And even then what could he do? He wasn't a tech wiz like Penny, he loves singing and dancing with Gwen and Kyrie but it's not something he could see doing long term…..he didn't have an answer.
And it only made worse now that a long kept secret was now revealed in that he was the son of this legendary Dark Knight. He wasn't even fully human, and according to that hot chick Trish, he didn't have a choice if he wanted that or not. He thought yesterday was a turnaround for his life…but now it was all in the drain and clogging up his already confusing life. He had so many more questions about his mother and father, and he had no answers. Hearing his phone vibrate, he picked it up to see more text messages from Penny, texts she had been sending ever since she had woken up. They ranged from wondering where he was, if he was alright, to these last few.
'WHERE R U?'
'RAGNA?'
'R U OK?'
'PLS TALK TO ME I'M WORRIED!'
It hurt him knowing he was making the girls worried, and he didn't want Penny to ever worry again…..after what happened with Uncle Ben, he made a promise to himself that he will never let them worry about him again. He was already doing a crappy job, and he was failing both the girls, Aunt Leslie, Cass, May…even Uncle Ben and his parents. This was all just so much…and with that he crumbled up the paper and tossed it away, making his way outside the Academy and needing more time to think, just until he could figure something out.
(The Marvelous Devil)
Ragna walked down the street, god he felt hungry, but he couldn't bring himself to eat at the moment. He was sure the girls were gonna be looking for him now that school was over, but he just needed some time to himself. He had so many thoughts running through his head, and for someone like Ragna that was bad. He wondered if others had problems like these…..well maybe heroes do, since some of them were no doubt aliens from other worlds…..were there others like him? Probably didn't have a cool dad as his sound …...but they were probably around at least. God what he would give to go back two days, to where he didn't have this crazy ass heritage or these apparent stupid powers.
…Wait a minute, did he even know if he had powers? He apparently had something since it took out that strange Ancala demon or whatever it was called. Stopping in the middle of the sidewalks Ragna held his hands up, staring down at his wiggling digits, where his supposed demon blood flowed through. He was the Son of the supposedly powerful demon warrior, he would have to inherit that crazy power, and according to that hot chick Trish his body had molded itself to contain that power. Now he didn't know if he wanted this power…but he never said he wouldn't try it out. He wondered what sorts of powers he would: Super Strength? Speed? Flight? Oh it would be so cool to fly, one of the coolest powers to have.
"And once again those Spider menaces have caused even more damage at the docks in their recent scuffle with Shocker and the Vulture!" Ragna looked up to see one of the larger screens play a recorded fight between Spider-Girl, Ghost-Spider, and one of their nemesis' Shocker and Vulture. Shocker wore some sort of bronze and yellow suit that seemed to protect him from his own electro-gauntlets, while Vulture wore a green and black suit with the metal feathers across his arm like they were wings which allowed him to fly. The two fought against the web-slingers as the two danced and swung around their attacks.
Both of their features were entirely covered by their suits that hugged their incredible fit and bodacious bodies in Ragna's opinion. Spider-Girl wore a red and blue suit with web like weaves on the red part of her sight with a black spider logo on her bosom, and white slits where her eyes would be. Ghost-Spider had a completely different design with her suit being a mixture of black and light with pink on her wrists and inside the hood she had over herself. She also had ballerina shoes on, which was funny since Gwen also took ballerina classes with those same shoes so maybe the girl took the same classes in the past. Anyways the two swung across the docks before taking out both with a single kick, knocking them into a large crate. Which in turn knocked it off the side and onto a small fishing boat, the sailor cursing at the two heroines with Spider-Girl frantically and animatedly apologizing while Ghost shook her head.
"It's one thing to not only do things by the damn book! But it's a whole other when they cause destruction to city property! They're a menace, a damn menace I tell you!" Ragna shook his head and chuckled at the overreaction of the two Spider Heroines biggest enemy and number one fan, John Jonah Jameson. Publisher of New York's Daily Bugle and twice winning Pulitzer Winning (Ragna had no idea what that was) and a host for some radio show that he doesn't listen to cause he's busy reading manga or watching anime.
"Why can't they be like the Seven?! Or hell, how about the Guardians of the Globe?! Now those are real heroes right there!" Ragna watched as the screen changed to show the Guardians of the Globe take down what appeared to be some weird Kaiju monster. Ragna wouldn't mind getting an autograph from the Ladies of the Guardians, chuckling to himself as it changed to the Seven who were stationed in Seattle, Washington.
"And here we have an interview, sponsored by Vought, with the man of America himself: Homelander." JJ said as it showed Homelander, the man of idealism and strength that seemed to personify the American Spirit as far as Ragna could tell. Homelander was tall and imposing, his suit blue with an American Eagle on his shoulder and the flag like a cape. While Queen Maeve was Ragna's favorite for personal reasons, Homelander was a pretty big inspiration.
"You see, when I came to this planet. I was born with these powers and I just knew I would have to test them out, use them to my greatest potential. Cause what's the point of powers if you ain't gonna use them? Right?" Homelander laughed, and while Ragna could feel it was a little force, it did make him wonder if the superhero was right. He must've had powers….he could at least test them out.
"Hmm…..Perfect." Ragna muttered, looking up at a nearby six story building. Walking in he began making his way upstairs, and he made a mental note that this place actually looked nice and had a decent rent. So he could always look into getting a place here if he ever moved out of Cass' place, if and a big IF, he graduated Redgrave Academy. Once he made it to the roof he made sure no one was around, the last thing he needed was anyone seeing him using any powers he might've had. He began walking over to the edge in the back of the building, seeing he had a few good yards away from the nearby building, far enough one that could not easily jump. However, he figured if he had these incredible powers, he could make that jump, rather easily too.
"Alright, I can do this, you've done some parkour with Gwen, and your limber thanks to her ballerina stretches or whatever she called them. If I can survive falling into a pond, I can handle jumping over a building." Ragna motivated himself as he began stretching his limbs and hopping one foot off the other. If he can super jump over this then he did indeed have powers, which would be pretty damn cool. Taking a deep breath, Ragna took a knee in the runner's start position ...silently hoping he'll live through this and see the girls again. With one final exhale he took a dash towards the edge, his heart pumping blood and adrenaline through his veins as he ran towards the edge. With one push off the building he jumped into the air, his hair flickering in the wind as he soared towards the other building. Maybe it was his perception but it looked like he was gonna make it, he had powers.
"I'm gonna make it, I'm gonna make it, I'm gonna make i….Wait a minute, is that….No….No! No! No!" Ragna's mind screamed in horror as his old aged nemesis appeared. Now Ragna considered himself an animal guy, the critters just loved him, he figured it was because of his good looks. Ever since he was little he was loved by all animals…all but two, and he hated these two. One of them were cats, now cats didn't hate him but he was not a fan of cats, they just sat there judging him silently.
But one creature, one species in general, hated Ragna and went out of there to hunt him down and annoy him. Birds. And not just one type of bird, but ALL birds hated Ragna, and they were going out of their way to ruin his moment. In this instance, a flock of pigeons flew towards Ragna, pecking him and obscuring his vision. The now hybrid teen swung his arms as he was now spinning
"AH! LEAVE ME ALONE YOU WINGED MEN-OOF!" Ragna groaned as his body collided with the edge of the next building, the pain and sudden force knocking the wind out of him and breaking something.
"...Ow….No, no-GAH!" Ragna cried as he lost his chance to get a grip, plummeting to the ground. His body collided with a rail, snapping his femur in half, slamming his head into the lower balcony. His shoulder collided with the wall skating across it before he bounced off a ladder and landed shoulder first onto the ground. The pigeons flew away as the teen laid on the ground, rolling onto his back as blood dripped down his shoulder.
"...Ow….Ow…..Ow." Ragna groaned, reaching over to his shoulder, wincing upon contact and seeing red on his fingertips.
"Yep….that's broken…..Ow." Ragna cried as his body was in immense pain….yeah he was not super durable….nor did he have flight…or super powers.
"Wow." A voice called out as a clap resounded in the alleyway, hearing footsteps as someone stood above him. His vision was blotted out by the glaring sun, but the figure moved so he could get a good view of them, revealing it to be none other than Trish.
"I mean…..I can't even decide if that was hilarious or painful to watch." Trish contemplated as she slowly clapped to mock the teen.
"...Don't you have someone else to bother? Wait, how did you even find me?" Ragna asked, glaring up at the woman….whose face was partly obstructed by her large tits. Was she stalking him?
"You're the one who caught my eye, Son of Sparda, if that ain't obvious. And how I found you is quite simple, demons have a sensory awareness like animals, we can smell and detect other demons or other divine entities. You have such abilities and more if you actually trained them….and no, jumping off buildings doesn't count as training." Trish remarked, leaning down with her hands on her hips.
"Ha….Ha….Ow…Ha." Ragna grumbled as he slowly rolled onto his chest and rested on his one good knee. He strained against the pain and to his surprise an arm wrapped around his armpits, pulling him back up on his one good foot. He looked down to see Trish smirking at him, she was surprisingly around his height compared to the girls. She really was beautiful…..he couldn't help but be entranced by her eyes, they reminded him of Penny's…..and for a split second he saw the woman in red: His mother.
"...You certainly have your mothers eyes, it makes you quite handsome."
"...Thanks."
"Too bad this handsome mug is wasted on an idiot like you."
"...Gee, thanks. Now go away." Ragna grumbled as he limped away from her, reaching for his phone to call an ambulance. However he inwardly groaned as he felt bits in his pocket, pulling out his now broken phone.
"Fantastic." Ragna grumbled. This was karma, this was karma firing back at him for having such incredible looks, the price was ALL of this.
"You know that isn't an option, Son of Sparda, as much as you wanna deny it: You need me. And-!"
"I do not need ANY of this right now." Ragna growled, glaring at the woman. He was in incredible pain over the bullcrap belief that he had powers. Maybe he was only a demon in blood and nothing else.
"You can't walk away from this, Son of Sparda, you don't have a choi-!"
"Lady, I don't know if you've noticed, but I don't exactly look like I'm in any condition to be fighting any frickin demons!" Ragna growled, jabbing a finger into Trish's chest, ignoring the soft embrace of her bosom.
"Guess I got the short end of the stick when it comes to my Dad's genepool." Ragna grunted, gesturing to his body. Trish looked up and down the young man, her eyes narrowed as a small smirk formed on her lips.
"Really? Cause even in your state, you have impressive regenerative healing." Trish stated, tapping Ragna's arm. Ragna realized it was the same arm that he had slammed on and broke…..only to realize it was no longer in pain. Looking down at his leg he pressed against his thigh no longer wincing in pain, tapping the ground to test it out. Ragna's eyes widened in astonishment as he ran hands over his body, seeing that the bruises and broken bones were completely healed, good as new.
"H-How-!"
"Super Regenerative healing, one of the more active abilities. All demons are born with them, but depending on your status will determine the type you have. You hit the jackpot with the super regenerative healing, as only demon lords and other royal bloods can heal as fast as you just did if not instantly. Of course your body just reacted to the pain and began to heal itself, with proper training you can simply will your body to heal any wound." Trish began to explain, reaching up and clutching Ragna's hands in hers.
"Listen, Son of Sparda, I know you have a lot of questions but know this: I am here to help you, and I am sorry but you don't have that choice." Ragna stared at the blonde woman, taking in every word, before pulling his hand away. He was amazed his body healed so quickly…..but he didn't like the way he did so, and he didn't like the way she said it. Choice. She made it seem like all of this was out of his element, well who was she to decide that for him?
"I…I….Forget it. AND STOP CALLING ME THAT!" Ragna turned and made a bolt out of the alleyway, leaving the woman behind. He kept running and running unsure if he should go home or just somewhere to clear his head.
"My ball!"
"Allie NO!" Ragna turned at the last second to see a little girl running across the street chasing after a basketball. His eyes widened in horror when he heard the honking horn of a semi-truck, turning his head to see it barely a few yards from the girl, tires screeching to stop but it would be too late. In a flash of red, the truck slammed to a stop, its trailer floating off the ground for a few seconds before dropping. Ragna gasped for air as he looked down at the little girl who was safe in his left arm, before slowly turning to see his right hand ripping the metal hood of the truck like it was paper. Pulling his hand away he let go of the girl and let her run back to her mother, turning around only to come face to face with Trish.
"...It only gets more complicated from here, kid." Trish warned, but it fell on deaf ears as Ragna made a bolt for it, getting as far away as he could.
(The Marvelous Devil)
Sometime later Ragna finally made his way back to the cafe long past since it had closed. He made his way inside and began walking upstairs hearing the frantic tone of Cass' voice.
"And it's not unusual for him to be this late but he always texts and the girls say they haven't seen hi-Ragna!" Cass exclaimed once her adopted nephew walked up the stairs.
"Okay he's back and I'm gonna give him an earful, Seeya Leslie~~!" Cass hung up the phone, turning to glare up at the raven haired teen with hands on her hips.
"Ragna Redgrave, do you have any idea what time it is?! I have been worried sick! The girls had no idea where you were, the Academy called and said you ditched school, and Leslie hasn't seen you since the other day! Explain yourself right now Mister!" Ragna couldn't help but smirk because even while being angry and pouting, it made Cass look so beautiful. With a small chuckle he walked over and patted her head, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry I've been making you all worry….I've just been going through something recently." Ragna said with a small sigh. Cass' anger lessened into concern as she looked into Ragna's eyes, truly taken back by the look of confusion and loss. She had raised Ragna for a long time, loved him with all her aunt, and there are very few times where he was ever upset. In his own words he 'hated being edgy' and went out of his way to make sure he or anyone in his life was happy even during the worst of times much like he was for Penny at her worst. However, she was taken back by his gaze, as if he suddenly was given a tremendous weight to burden.
Oh god what if he got into trouble, ever since Penny's uncle passed away Ragna has tried to stay out of trouble. Key word 'try' but sometimes it follows him. Nothing serious, mainly it came to him always challenging those bigger or higher status, or the entire Academy breathing down his neck. It also didn't help that the school still blamed him for the incident with the girls locker room, but she knew Ragna was a good soul and would never commit such a thing. She can't even begin to fathom why he has been so troubled, since he did usually have her to talk to or Leslie or even the girls to talk about his problems. The last couple days seemed to have turned Ragna's life upside down…..was it his own choice or was someone making him? Could he….could he…
"Ragna….you're not doing drugs are you?!"
"WHAT?! No! God no." Ragna sighed, shaking his head before two hands grabbed both sides of his cheeks, pulling him down to Cass level.
"Then please tell me what is going on, I don't want you hurting yourself!" Ragna was in shock as Cass' stared directly into his eyes. Ragna would never lie that Cass was downright gorgeous, and if she was a mother she would be the definition of a MILF. Even before being with Penny he had sexual fantasies of the cougar, and even after he would have dreams of his girlfriends and Cass. Of course he doubted the woman had feelings for him, seeing him nothing more but the boy she helped raise.
"...Sorry…..I've just been going through something and…..it's really hard to explain." Ragna said, sighing as he pulled away and shook his head.
"But Ragna you can talk to me, to your family." Ragna winced at that name, before he would've been touched by the gesture, now it feels like the word has gone beyond its meaning. He didn't even know what his family was beyond titles and species. What did it mean to be a Son of Sparda, what did any of this frickin mean, and why can't he choose to be what he wanted?
"I….I know, I'm sorry. I gotta take a shower." With that Ragna kissed Cass' forehead and made his way upstairs, Cass watching him go. Her cheeks heated up watching the boy go, letting out a small sigh. She loved him, more than she liked to admit, he was the son she never had and he grew into a man beyond her reach. Seeing him in pain and loss hurt her, and she only hoped Leslie and the girls could help her put Ragna back on this right path before it spiraled out of control.
"Oh and um….my phone is broken." Ragna admitted as he head poked down from the stairs.
"What?! How?!"
"I…..I uh…..I fell down some stairs."
(The Marvelous Devil)
Ragna let out a heavy sigh as he pulled the shower curtains aside, drying his hair aside and stared at his own reflection. The past couple days have been rough but at least he still looked good, even his body was completely fine from the earlier incident so at least he knew he could heal from any wound, or could it be any wound? Could he take a stab to the heart and live? He really didn't wanna test that one out. Taking a deep breath…..he smelled something sweet, and very strong. Which was funny because after a shower he usually smelled the steam, and he still does, but right now he could smell a lot. He could smell the chocolate that Cass was no doubt stress eating, he could smell melted cheese from 'Mario Bros Pizza' a small little pizza joint he loved to bring the girls when he had money.
Back to the point he kept sniffing the air like a hound searching for the scent, his nose pulling him along. The scent was intoxicating, like sweet honey nectar, or something close to that. Once the aroma was at its strongest, opening his eyes to come face to face with the laundry basket and right at a pair of black silk panties: Cass to be precise. His eyes widened in surprise but taking another deep whiff he could smell the sweet scent coming from the cloth. He has never really sniffed panties before, he has lifted Gwen's skirt to tease her but outside of that he has never done this. Pulling back he shook his head, the last thing he needed was to prove those jerks back at the academy that they were right. He loved that scent and he loved admiring a girl's butt because he was a pervert, but he still had standards…..maybe if it meant teasing Gwen or Penny he'll give it a go.
"Jeez…well good to know you're awake." Ragna muttered, staring down at the tent at the towel wrapped around his waist. With a sigh he walked out of the bathroom with an awkward boner, completely unaware that he walked past Cass who was holding a bowl of soup for dinner, and made his way inside and locked the door. Cass would've called out to him about dinner had she not had her eyes zeroed in on the tent in his towel and his well defined chiseled muscles, god it's like she could grind meat on them. Shaking her head she merely went back into the living room to just put the soup away and cool her head.
"...What am I gonna tell the girls?" Ragna wondered as he laid back on his bed, pondering what he could tell the girls. Should he tell the truth? Should they know of this sudden backstory of his past that he had no idea about until a few days ago. Was it the whole 'secret identity' the heroes in his comics had? If this was his superhero origin it was a terrible one, he bet Spider-Girl or Ghost-Spider didn't have to go through this or any of them like Homelander and the Guardians of the Globe. Why was he the one with the demon on his back? Why didn't he get that choice?
What was his future now, with all of this, and did anyone else have to have it? He would love to meet someone who got to make the choices they wanted and not because someone else put him on that path because as far as he has seen or met, most were put on that path. Even Penny, who he loves and would fight to the ends of the Earth, was guided into by the passion her parents had by the stories Aunt May told her. He didn't think ill of it, because he fully supported and loved Penny's love for research and engineering. He wished he had her enthusiasm for such things, same for Gwen's love of drumming and music, or Kyrie's focus in news and journalism. They all had dreams and kept chasing those dreams, would he be left behind cause of his indecisive attitude and just plain lack of choice.
"...What should I do, Uncle Ben?"
TAP TAP
"Hu-GAH!" Ragna cried out flying off his bed, head poking up to see Trish leaning on the railing to the metal balcony, using her boot to knock on his window. With a grumble Ragna rolled over his bed and reached for his window, glaring at the blonde woman.
"Ya know, this has gone from keeping an eye on me to full on stalking!" Ragna growled, glaring at Trish.
"Ya know you seemed like the guy to enjoy a woman's attention focused on you." Trish noted, smirking at Ragna as she leaned over the edge.
"It's one thing for attention, it's a whole other thing when you stalk me!" Ragna retorted.
"Nice place by the way, had a nice little coffee here earlier, it's cute." Trish complimented, showing she had a donut from Cass' rack.
"And I'm sure Cass appreciates that, just as she would appreciate that you leave the premise of this cafe." Ragna said, Trish letting out a sigh as she finished the donut.
"You know that we both know that I can't and won't be doing that. This isn't something neither of us can walk away from." Trish warned, pointing a finger up to the roof.
"Can we speak elsewhere, in private?" Ragna stared at the blonde for a few seconds, before finally relenting and pulling himself out. She hasn't been rude and incredibly patient with him, the least he can do is hear her out. The two now sat at the edge of the cafe which was on a nice downward slope that helped overlook some part of the city and with the night sky lit up by the city it almost seemed peaceful. Ragna looked over at Trish, she was truly a beautiful woman, her body was mature and quite enticing from his perspective. Still, she wasn't here to be ogled at and he didn't know if he had the energy to deal with all of this.
"...Listen Trish, I get you want-well-whatever it is you want from me, but I can't. I don't even have a single idea how these so-called 'powers' of mine work. Whatever it is you want, you're looking at the wrong gu-!"
"Like I said before, you don't have a choice in this, Son of Sparda." Trish stated, shaking her head in annoyance.
"Well what do you want from me? I don't know if today's little stunt proved to you: but I'm not exactly Captain America!"
"...Do you even know what it means to be the Son of Sparda?" Trish asked, turning to face Ragna with a stern expression. When he made no attempt to answer, since he didn't have one, Trish continued.
"You are the Son of Sparda: The Legendary Dark Knight of Inferno, the wielder of 666 Devil Arms, the most powerful warrior in all of Hell. So powerful that he single handedly turned the tide in the final battle of the Holy War, the first war between the Heavens and the Hell's. He pushed back against his own brethren and closed the Gates of Hell, using his own power to seal the doors, giving up his demonic powers for humanity. Being the Son of Sparda is the greatest blessing anyone could have!" Trish exclaimed, staring up at the sky letting out a heavy sigh.
"But…..it is also a burden for you, for your father's choice created the greatest enemy: All of Hell itself and its denizens. By being the Son of Sparda you automatically have a target on your back, and one that no demon is going to let up, they will find ways to escape Hell and find you to the ends of the Earth. Just as they did your mother." Trish turned to Ragna once more, seeing his features turned into shock and pain, he saw flashes of red and flames, someone screaming in his ears…ending with laughter. Once they disappeared, he shook his head when Trish stood up, holding her fingers out to the sky.
"However, being a demon is also a blessing as it is a curse, especially for you. Being the Son of Sparda, and with training, you can master the Seven Forces of Hell." Trish stated, snapping her fingers.
KRA-KOOM
Ragna's eyes widened as lightning ripped through the sky, completely striking Trish, but instead of electrocuting her it was simply covered in an aura of voltage. That voltage traveled through her body and out her outstretched hand, moving faster than even normal lightning and beyond the normal human eye, struck the waters near the harbor.
"HOLY CRAP!" Ragna exclaimed, jumping back as Trish was absolutely electrifying.
"Lightning, the Primal and Physical Force of Lust. The Speed and Endurance of Demon Kind, and just one of the many abilities we can use." Trish said, turning to face Ragna. From Ragna's perspective she looked like a Goddess of Lightning….or Devil in this case.
"This power can be yours, and with my help I can teach you to control all seven of them, hopefully strong enough to face any demon in your path. What say you, Son of Sparda?" Ragna stared at the blonde, his features unreadable, not a peep from his lips. Finally after what seemed like forever, Ragna just turned away and looked back at the city.
"I…I….I don't know…I hate that I have no choice." Ragna muttered. After the recent fiasco at school practically framing him for the girl's locker incident, now this demon attack with his supposed bloodline revealed, and now he was forced to carry this burden….it really was frickin unfair. Trish sighed as she sat back down and watched the city below, before slowly turning to face Ragna.
"...Who is Uncle Ben?"
(The Marvelous Devil)
And with that we conclude the third chapter to the four part arc of The Marvelous Devil! Whoo!
Achievement Unlocked: Crash and Break (Fell off the roof thanks to Birds lol)
This whole bird thing is something I wanted to do in a fanfic for a long time, where my character has this weird unnatural hatred for birds and vice versa to the point if a bird sees him they attack. It's just a running gag I always wanted to do, I thought it'd be funny and it was...until the bone breaking part. It will be at random but saved and I think great for the SoL moments. So this chapter was a nice slowburn, as has tis whole arc been a nice buildup to what is going to happen in the final chapter, I know it hasn't been much hero activity but this is the origin volume, we're building up throughout the story but next chapter starts Ragna's journey as a hero. I've been waiting for this.
I'll admit a lot of this chapter was more of 'calm before the storm' kind of chapter, where Ragna was trying to take everything he just learned, all in right before Trish arrived and made it all worse. I think a general idea or theme is Choice/Free Will for the arc, at least for Ragna. I'm not saying people don't have a choice, it's just that Ragna's a teenager and doesn't really see much in those...that and he's lazy lol. But in all seriousness this arc sets up the small dream he once had and how it sets off a whole new character development that he learns and grows even when the Avengers finally form. Ya know, the Hero's Journey, Nature vs Nurture, and the Pursuit of Strength and Enlightenment. As I've said to Saiya on the Discord...or in my head again, it's like a Journey to the West which I am rereading cause I wanted to get the idea and just because I really like the story.
I know there also hasn't been much of Spider Heroes aside from outside sources but next chapter they will appear. I will admit this chapter was gonna show them off but I felt like it would make this reveal I have later kind of dumb which involved Ragna saving that little girl from the truck which I did get inspired via the anime Parasyte (IDK if it has a manga I've only seen the anime.). Especially when I wanna introduce their villains, but they won't serve as Ragna's rogue gallery as I want to make my own villains. Granted Ragna does have all 666 Demon lords of Hell but I would love to make my own. Some I'll use from ADJ and others not mainly one in general that I built up to in Volume 1 for ADJ. Anyways I'm also gonna make the harem faster for TMD, since technically it's already a harem or The Family as I like to call it.
In the original version of this chapter I was gonna have Ragna jack off to Cass' panties but I felt like it would go against his principals which are: He doesn't grope them unless they are dating, he doesn't steal panties or bras but will ask to get a look and or feel if he has to do something for them (Mainly fighting stronger villains/demons/etc which is something he rarely would do), and he might sniff them if its his girlfriends and or just Gwen to annoy her cause he loves teasing her. He's a pervert but he's got principle. I also had this whole thing for Uncle Ben but I'm gonna save it for the finale of this arc, it helps actually set the next chapter really. And I think that will be all I can say for the chapter, I hope everyone enjoyed it, let's get into what else I got.
For crossovers if its not obvious The Boys and Invincible. I got a whole list and it's not always the whole universe sometimes its girls or villains or even weapons. I'm not gonna get into it but its fun.
I've recently gotten back into Bloodborne, I stopped playing after a while and got back into it and build my character. I am at the endgame and started the Old Hunters DLC: Every single boss has pretty much taken one try. Yes, even Ludwig the Holy Blade. I'm pretty sure Maria is gonna be a WHOLE different story but who knows I could be lucky...and then Orphan. Also gonna get back into Nioh 1 and 2. Cause I love Soulsborne games and pain.
Man...Spider-Man fans are not eating well this fucken comic run is fucking AIDS. God I feel so bad for diehard Spider-Man fans...we just want what Spiderverse Peter Parker has, we just want him to be happy. WHY?!
I watched Quantumania on Disney Plus...not a big fan...for A LOT of things. Either way I am gonna focus on working on TMD and ADJ, mainly Heaven's Shadow. And with that I end the chapter, I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter and I am open to new ideas. Until next time, Zer0the0mega108 out!
Next Chapter: As Ragna laments his last encounter with the late Uncle Ben, dark forces begin their move to find the Son of Sparda. Ragna has never had a dream in sight, always feeling like he never has a choice, and now a burden placed upon him seems to be putting strain with his loved ones. Ragna's past now decides his future: Accept his demon powers and take on the forces of Hell, or deny his birthright and endangers everyone he loves. Will he succeed? Find out in the thrilling finale of Birth of a Hero: Comes Great Responsibility!
