First perceptions are very important, but they also make people grow complacent in learning more about others. Yang Xiao-Long knew three things about Jaune Arc: he sucked at fighting, he was a terrible flirt when it came to Weiss Schnee, and he was a total goofball. That was all she knew and she simply wanted to have fun teasing him... until she pushed far enough to see much more.

When Ruby dreamt of foreign war machines from a bygone era in another dimension she hadn't expected sentient versions of those vehicles to manifest themselves as her second semblance. Apparently, they don't like each other. (A very niche fanfiction about 20th-century vehicles that somehow started as semi-crack to having a plot.)

Jaune knew he was a loser the moment he got to Beacon. Hell, he knew it back when he almost died trying to unlock his own aura, only halfway mind you. Loser he may be, but failure he was not. And because of that, he would be the greatest loser ever.
