AN: Hey, sorry it's been at least two weeks since I last updated. I have been super busy with getting my classroom together and writing lesson plans. Anyway, here is an update.
Summary: While packing for their babymoon, Lea decides to take some pictures of herself and her belly. Set right before the events of "The Good Boy".
At 20 weeks pregnant, Lea was halfway through and obviously showing and visible under her clothes. Shaun noted that because this was Lea's second pregnancy, it wouldn't take long for her to show.
She was indeed glowing and excited for the little boy on the way, but she was still mentally processing everything they went through almost two weeks ago.
It was actually a jaw-dropper that the baby was still safe and alive in her belly after two surgeries, especially one that almost resulted in her losing her baby and her uterus.
Fortunately, she and Shaun had their babymoon to look forward to for the next three days. She definitely wanted and needed a prenatal massage, something her wonderful husband booked for her, and an aura cleanse.
While Shaun was packing their stuff for the trip to Sacramento, Lea, who had just gotten out of the shower and put on her undergarments, admired her changing body in the bathroom mirror.
Yesterday, she could feel and see the baby hiccupping inside her belly, which, to be honest, was kind of freaky at first. Her hair was thicker and her nails were a bit longer. She was also starting to get pink stretchmarks on her sides and on her swollen breasts.
She felt like Serena Williams and Demi Moore on their Vanity Fair covers.
She picked up her phone sitting on the sink counter, opened the camera, and then posed like Demi Moore as she glared at herself in the mirror, pressing the camera button on her phone screen.
For once and for the first time since this pregnancy, she felt beautiful and sexy instead of like a hideous, disgusting mess. For once, excitement was the strongest emotion she felt right now.
After the picture was taken, she sent it to her parents and yelled out to her husband, who was still packing for Sacramento.
"Shaun!"
Shaun immediately stopped packing and walked into the bathroom. "What's wrong?" He asked, sounding a little panicked.
"I have stretchmarks, look," she pointed to her growing belly, which revealed pink lines on the sides.
"Oh," breathed Shaun happily, reaching out to caress her bare belly. "Stretchmarks are normal and natural."
As Shaun and Lea continued packing for the babymoon, Lea FaceTimed with her mother, who was just informed about everything that had happened, on her computer. Now that Lea's pregnancy was considered low-risk, Pam had been trying to plan a baby shower for her daughter, hoping for one that wouldn't get canceled because of a tragic loss.
"Lea, let me see your belly," Pam begged excitedly. "Shaun said you're 20 weeks. You must be showing a little bit."
"I just sent you the picture," groaned Lea. "I also sent you the most recent ultrasound."
"I know, but I didn't get a chance to look at it," said Pam. "I've been dying to see your belly since we learned you were pregnant."
Lea sighed and then lifted up her shirt to reveal her belly, which was now noticeable, yet small, bump. It didn't look like bloating anymore.
"Oh, my," Pam chirped happily, almost crying. Her daughter was halfway through her pregnancy and she hadn't seen one photo of the belly. Last time, Lea would send her weekly updates. "You look great."
"Thank you, Mom," chuckled Lea nervously, gently rubbing her belly as she pulled her shirt down.
"I see Shaun back there," observed Pam. "Shaun, how are you?"
"Fine," replied Shaun, preparing the lunches and snacks for their road trip tomorrow. "I'm packing for our babymoon."
"How fun," said Pam, taking a pause. "So, do you guys know what it is? Or will you still wait until a healthy baby is born?"
"Actually," grinned Lea, sitting down on the couch with her laptop. "We're having a boy."
"Wow, congratulations," Shaun could hear Pam getting teary-eyed. "I can't wait to tell your father and Donnie."
As soon as Shaun finished packing, he took a seat on the couch next to Lea.
"So, how have you two been doing?" Pam asked earnestly. "What you two went through must have been scary."
"Yeah, it was," nodded Shaun, remembering the dread of Dr. Glassman or Dr. Lim coming out to tell him that the baby didn't make it and that they had to take Lea's uterus.
"Now, I'm actually grateful that Lea married a surgeon," chuckled Pam, who was often vocal about her distrust of doctors. Lea told him it was because that one bad experience she had with one doctor when she had a miscarriage always haunted her.
When that serious stuff was over, the three of them went back to discussing planning the baby shower.
