Nicole and Gumball pushed on. They were now by several small shops and a seemingly ancient gas station. They must be getting close to a police station. Nicole felt it.

As they walked around another corner past a donut shop, they finally found it. The police station! This time Gumball, using the energy he still had left in him and despite his still aching body, walked faster and past Nicole to the entrance of the building. They were finally going to get out of here! Nicole picked up her pace too and helped hold the door open for Gumball as he basically rushed in.

"HELLO?" Shouted Gumball into the darkened room. No reply.

Nicole felt like her heart was sinking further down into her body as they went into each of the barren rooms in the building. After searching in all the rooms, they then both knew for sure...it was completely empty of people.

Nicole's mind seemed to be racing a million miles per hour with different thoughts and emotions all seemingly at once.

'This can't be happening. Maybe they left to find others. But we didn't find anyone our whole way here. What if they are gone with everyone else...What if we can't find them? What if...we are truly alone here? What if...we never can find our home...'

Nicole suddenly fell back on a wall and slumped herself to the floor. Tears started to well up in her eyes. She felt herself utterly defeated. This was a new feeling to her. She never had been this defeated before in her life. She didn't even notice the gentle hand placed on her shoulder until Gumball spoke.

"Mom, are you alright?" He asked softly.

She slowly looked up to him, and then wiped her tears from her eyes.

"I'm fine Gumball. I'm just...I'm just a bit overwhelmed is all."

Gumball knew the true reason she was crying. He felt like they would be saved here, but alas, they weren't. This was starting to affect him too. He slumped next to his mom and hugged her with all his leftover strength. She returned the favor, and hugged tightly back. At least they weren't totally alone. They had each other. As they slowly both seemed to nod off to sleep, Nicole heard it start to rain outside. It sounded peaceful enough to bring her slight peace of mind. They then both drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Gumball woke up when the sunlight poured into the room. He looked over for his mom. She wasn't there. He then looked around the room but still didn't see her. Suddenly he heard noise coming from another another room. He slowly got up and walked towards the noise. When he got to the next room over, he saw Nicole making some food on a table in the corner.

"Good morning Gummypuss." She said as she looked up at him.

Gumball noticed she still had a tear dried face, but at least she seemed to have stopped crying for now. He walked closer to her, and then gave her a morning hug.

"Morning mom." He said, trying to sound a bit cheery for her.

Gumball then looked at the food on the table.

"Where did you find food for us?" He asked.

Nicole pointed towards another corner of the room.

"I looked in that fridge and found us both quite a bit of food in there. I'm still not sure why it was stuffed with so much."

Gumball was now puzzled too.

'It would be strange to have so much food here and to simply abandon it. Maybe they left in a hurry or something...' He thought.

Gumball shook his head slightly and took a seat by his mom and ate some yogurt and a cold turkey sandwich.

After he ate, Gumball looked over at his mom. She seemed to have been quiet the entire time they were eating. He was starting to get worried. This never happened when they ate. Usually she would be talking all about what to do for the day, or to make small talk about what Gumball's grades were in his classes...something he hated talking about. But this time, it was dead silence from her.

"Mom? Are you o-"

"I'm fine Gumball." She said, cutting him off.

Gumball seemed to curl back slightly hearing this. That wasn't normal. She seemed very emotionless with that response.

Nicole seemed to notice this, and let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry Gumball. I just..."

She didn't finish that sentence, but Gumball then understood what she was trying to say.

She then stood up and walked over to the fridge.

"You want anything to drink, Gumball?"

"Sure. Milk or water is fine." He responded.

Nicole opened the fridge...but seemed to stop when she did so.

"What in the world?!" She said out loud, causing Gumball to face her.

"What is it mom?"

"I-I don't know exactly. I had taken almost everything out of this fridge for us and somehow it's completely filled again."

This made Gumball puzzled, rightfully so. He walked over to where mom was and saw a very stuffed mini-fridge full of all the things they just ate. As a slightly curious kitten, Gumball reached inside the fridge and pulled out a container of yogurt. He then shut the fridge door and then opened it again. When he did this, they both took a step back in shock. The yogurt was instantly replaced! It was like it simply came out of thin air!

"Whoa...Ok, this is weird." Gumball said, quite shocked.

"You don't say..." Nicole responded, just as shocked as Gumball.

After their little "incident" with the fridge, it was decided by Nicole that it would be best if they got out of that police station and go somewhere else. They both decided to head back to the buildings by the park where they first visited. As they approached one house with teal blue siding and a lovely decorated front entrance, they went around the back of it to see if the back door was unlocked. It turned out it wasn't locked! This made both of them ever so happy to be able to find a comfortable place to stay a while.

They both entered the home and saw a lovely kitchen along with a nice and cozy living room. After deciding to check up stairs, they found several rooms each with a bed, along with 1 bathroom on the left side near the front of the hallway. After seeing this, Nicole was starting to love it here. This seemed big enough for their entire family! Their family...

Nicole stopped, closed her fist, took a deep breath and decided to carry on with Gumball around the house for inspection. After looking around each room, they both noticed all the rooms looked freshly cleaned, surprising enough. Gumball picked a room at the end of the hallway and decided to crash down on the bed. It was much bigger then his bunk bed at home, which was nice, but there was no computer or his other sibling Darwin to keep him occupied here. Gumball sighed and decided to look around his room while his mother did the same in her new room just next door.

When he opened his room closet to see if there was anything inside, he found clothes. What seemed to surprise him the most was the fact that the clothes all seemed to be the clothes...he usually would wear. He pulled out a shirt that seemed to match his own pair; although it didn't have major tears and loose fabric everywhere. He swapped shirts to see how it felt. Everything about it felt like his old shirt. It fit perfectly. He could smell the freshness of the shirt too, as though it was store brand freaking new. This started to concern him...

Gumball walked over to Nicole's room to tell her this. Once he was at her door, he glanced in and saw her posing in a mirror in the corner. She was wearing new clothes too. She turned to Gumball with a face of confusion.

"Gumball, I found clothes that match mine exactly in the closet. They even SMELL new..." Nicole noted, now feeling and sniffing it's fabric.

"I was actually coming in to tell you the same thing..." he mentioned, before walking over to her mirror and looking with her at themselves in the reflection.

This was all very strange...first the weird self-refilling fridge, now the fresh clothes. This was NOT normal, even by Gumball's standards.

Nicole then decided to check the water faucet in the bathroom. It worked! They had running water! As strange and surprising as this all was, Nicole was rejoiced. They could at least take a shower and clean up themselves. Not to mention their wounds.

Nicole walked over to Gumball's room and told him about the running water and how he could take a shower. Gumball was happy to hear that one.

'Let's hope this place has got hot water.' He thought.

After hopping in and turning the handle, it turned out there indeed was hot water. Gumball felt a sigh of relief escape his lungs and he cleaned himself up. He found a single bar of soap to use as well, but sadly no shampoo. He made do with the bar of soap before getting out after about 20 minutes of watery bliss. He found a towel and draped it around himself and went to his room and let Nicole hop in to clean up as well.

Nicole cleaned herself up with hot water too. It felt relieving to her. She let her mind race and try to process all that she and Gumball had done so far here. She also tried remembering what happened right before the crater "incident", but to no avail. She checked over her body to make sure her wounds were okay and not infected...but stopped. Where were her wounds? She knew for certain she had some scratches and a few cuts on her thigh, but didn't see any. It was like they disappeared. Now that she thought about it, she remembered she felt much better after waking up from sleeping with Gumball at the police station.

This was also quite strange...

After having cleaned up enough to her liking, Nicole stepped out and wrapped herself with a towel like Gumball did, and walked over to his room. She told Gumball about how her wounds had seemingly disappeared.

Gumball was shocked. He remembered seeing the wounds on Nicole when he checked her before helping her. Gumball glanced down at himself. He removed part of the towel covering his knee to see where his bruise and slight cut were, only to not see one there. He showed his mom this, and she looked just as perplexed at this as he seemed to hers. This was just getting weirder and weirder as every hour seemed to pass...

Nicole decided to get some rest. This time with a proper bed. She was still tired after having nightmares the night before at the station. She told Gumball this, before heading to her room. Gumball decided to get some rest too. He needed to clear his mind. He took off his towel and put on his strange replacement shirt and his old boxers before heading to bed.

Nicole shut her door and dropped her towel by her bed and climbed in. She was too tired to change into something. Despite being naked, she felt the coolness and then comfortable bedsheets surround her body in its lovely embrace. She sighed to herself before starting to drift off. This was a truly wild couple days for her and Gumball, but she knew...this strange place just seemed to get weirder by the day...or hour. She was starting to feel her mind finally enter the beginnings of sleep. This was going to be a long day...
