Hey, y'all! This is the rewritten version of the story! I will be putting my own family in here, mostly because I think it would be cool, just changing the names around. Please bear with me as I do have actual books to write as well. Love y'all!

Chapter 4:
People stood around in the square, looking at the big screens before them. Two families stood a little ways away from the others, showing their solidarity in worry over their children. The Mellark family, with two grown sons, were stoic in their worry. The Swift family held each other tightly. Addie locked her eyes on the screen, watching as Caesar Flickerman did the interviews after the scores came out. She waited impatiently to see her sister's face. She watched Rue and Thresh's interviews and perked up when Nikki stepped on stage.
~with Nikki~
"Miss Nikki Swift, everyone!" Caesar Flickerman cried out to the crowd. Everyone clapped as Nikki stepped onto the stage. "Ooh," he said when he saw her dress. It was a floor-length flowy dress that wrapped around her torso to showcase her slender body. "Oh, my, Nikki. You look gorgeous!"
Nikki blushed. "Thank you, Caesar." She tucked a lock of hair behind her left ear. The rest of her loose curls hung down her back like a waterfall of chocolate. Nikki sat in the chair across from the host of the show when he motioned to it.
Caesar smiled at Nikki. "Now, you got to say goodbye to your family at the reaping, right?"
"That's right," Nikki said, nodding. She looked around at the audience briefly, wondering what he was trying to get to. Her eyes met Caesar's again.
"What did your parents say to you, and what did you promise your little sister?" His face was solemn, looking at her like he knew already.
Nikki took a deep breath. "My parents told me that they were proud of me, and my sister," she paused. "I promised my sister that I wouldn't change who I am inside while I'm in the arena."
There was chatter in the audience. Caesar nodded. "I see. Yes, that's a good goal. Now, you had flames during the parade that showed how beautiful and mesmerizing you are. Are you wearing them now?"
"I am," Nikki answered. "I'll show them now, if we're done?"
"I have one more question before we see the flames." Caesar straightened in preparation for the upcoming answer. "Is there a special someone back home?"
Nikki froze. Her face paled. This was a question that she didn't want to answer. She almost panicked, and looked over her shoulder at the wing of the stage where Peeta stood. She looked back at Caesar quickly, where he was staring at her expectantly, and swallowed. "He didn't know how I felt about him. All I am to him is a fellow student, sometimes coworker, and maybe friend." She heard murmurs from the audience and she continued before she flaked out. "He's in love with someone else, and even if I win the games, I won't get to be by his side."
Caesar's jaw had dropped in shock. He looked behind Nikki briefly before he met her gaze again. "Well, how about we see the flames now?" He asked with a false smile. Nikki nodded, standing up to walk to the front of the stage, and spun letting the flames appear in a circle around her knees. "Wow! Nikki Swift, everyone!" He caught Nikki when she stopped spinning.
Nikki hurried from the stage, slipping past Peeta without glancing at him. She couldn't bear it if he was looking at her in disgust. She bumped into Haymitch. "Sorry, Haymitch. I wasn't paying attention."
Haymitch held her in a hug. "Nikki, it's okay. He won't hate you for loving him."
~with Katniss and Gale~
Katniss's eyebrows rose at Nikki's answer to Caesar's last question. Peeta liked her?
"He can't have you," Gale said, wrapping his arms around her. "You're mine."
"And you're mine," she replied, smiling at him. It had taken no time at all after the reaping for them to openly show their feelings for one another. They had agreed not to show everyone that they were together if either one of them had been reaped. Katniss looked at the baker, who was staring at her. He nodded in reluctant acknowledgement, and she nodded back. She knew that he had hoped she and Peeta would get together... but he seemed to understand that she was with Gale.
~with Peeta~
Peeta was talking with Caesar, joking about the showers and the food. They got the audience laughing with every sentence, before Caesar mentioned Nikki's comments. "So, Peeta, how do you feel about having your fellow tribute have a crush on you?"
Peeta swallowed hard. "Well, to be honest, I guess I'm honored. She is right that I do love someone back home, but I doubt she even knew who I was until the reaping."
"Ah," Caesar replied. "You're pretty popular back home?"
Peeta laughed. "Not really. I just worked in my dad's bakery." When his interview was over, Peeta glanced over at Nikki, but she didn't look up from the floor. He didn't know what to say to her after what she had just heard him say.
"Kids, maybe we should go back upstairs," Haymitch said, looking around.
A third chapter today?! Wow! I hope that you like this version of the story better and that you continue to read it.
