-YARN

Kurai sat down with a sharp exhale as he dropped out of his Super Saiyan 4 form, grinning despite his exhaustion. Goku let out a pleased sigh as he flopped gracelessly onto his back and Vegeta let his legs fold under him to plop down into a crossed leg position. He, Goku, and Kurai had been at it for the past 2 hours, the first spent the three saiyans getting a better feel for the form and the rest spent beating each other up. It was a bit dicey the first time Goku and Vegeta had transformed into the Great Apes. He had waited for a year to gain the form and then using shenron to get all the saiyans and half-saiyans their tails back. Nobody complained about it about it seeing the benefits and while Goku immediately wanted to try transforming, Kurai managed to say they should start with Vegeta. Which was fine for Vegeta until he became a Golden Great Ape, which is when he lost control. Thankfully Kurai's new form made if far more manageable for the rest of the Z-fighters to wrangle the rampaging prince. And when Goku went wild, two Super Saiyan 4 were capable of corralling the hero of Earth before he caused too much trouble for everyone. They were finally getting adjusted with the new form and power it provided, now they had to make sure there were no kinks.

It had been a good year for everyone power-wise, everybody was growing and living better lives that they had wanted. Gohan, Trunks, and Xtrunks both had remained on the planet of the Kais — except for when Gohan went back to Earth to keep working as a scholar — and Xtrunks was thinking of using Super Saiyan God rather than his rage form as he sparred with his younger counterpart as Trunks was getting used to handling a duplicate and recreated Z-sword (thankfully Shenron could manage that at least). Piccolo had taken all of the patrollers as his students and Cauri had recently achieved Super Saiyan 3 while Frigi had unlocked a form similar to Cooler's final form. Itar and Hollo were working like demons to refine their Kaio-ken under Piccolo's strict supervision with occasional tips from King Kai. Super Saiyan 4 would help keep things under control until Beerus came, considering he would come sometime within the next fifty years if he considered 39 years a catnap. Then again, Whis was able to rouse Beerus and once he started with Vegeta and Goku he ate and was far more active than how he used to sleep.

Kurai shook his head, he didn't need to focus on the gods right now.

The figure was bound in front of him in thick, wispy, and purple chains made from the energy of his distorted time ring. He hadn't wanted to bring this being into his personal home in the crack of time, but sometimes things didn't pan out as planned. At least he wasn't going to allow anyone in without his explicit permission, that was only asking for trouble. This was a bit of a unique situation, and that required a unique solution to get the best possible result.

The giant being with a perpetual smile wriggled impatiently as Fuhai observed how best to make this amusing.

It mumbled something unintelligible from behind a gag.

"Oh shut up." Fuhai huffed, waving his hand and forming a chain over its mouth, "I'll let you go and do whatever after I finished thinking on how to get you stronger."

Even as a big idiot, he was enough to force the Goku of that timeline to become Super Saiyan 3 to take him out, and utterly beat the hell out of him in his super form. The Goku and Vegeta of this timeline were considerably stronger given that damn Time Patroller's intervention and warnings. That was already a problem but more than that three saiyans had managed to achieve Super Saiyan 4 now, which already put him at a big disadvantage. The others were no slouches either what with them working with the Supreme Kai and Elder Kai teaching them to better master their power and learn new techniques.

Then he remembered when that demon realm denizen Fu brought a whole bunch of them into the timeline where he never appeared. He thought of when the gate of hell opened and all the villians that the Z-fighters had defeated stormed the world of the living.

He blinked and began to laugh as his ring glowed brightly in reaction to his glee.

Fuhai leaned back and held up a hands; a majin symbol flicker into shape above his hand and a time-breaker symbol formed above his other hand. His ring flickered with purple light and he brought his hands together.

He turned to his captive with a smile, "I think I have just what you need, this will be a wonderful experiment. I may not care for different results such as that boy Fu, but the entertainment is worth experimenting for! You can have some siblings with friends and have all the fun you want!"

Janemba let out a muffled approximation of its name, judging by the utter cluelessness in its eyes, it had no idea what it was in for.

"I know just where to put you!" He knelt to look to being of malice in the eye, "Try not to scream too loudly, this will take a couple of tries, but it'll make you stronger every time!"

Kurai stared at Vegeta and Bulma, Vegeta unwilling to look at anybody while Bulma was glowing. Xtrunks and Trunks were both smiling brightly with joy at the news their mother had been dying to tell everyone.

"You're pregnant!" Chichi gushed, "Congratulations!"

Goku elbowed Vegeta with a sly smile, "Excited about another kid?"

Vegeta scowled as a flush of red crawled up his neck, "Shut it Kakarot."

Kurai laughed at Vegeta, he was obviously happy for his mentor and his wife that Bulma had another kid on the way. And he had spent enough time with the prince to know Vegeta was happy regardless of the stoic expression he kept up. He had asked about the gender of the baby, but both Vegeta and Bulma didn't want to know, wanting it to be a surprise to them. Everyone had been invited over to Capsule Corp by Bulma so she could share the news, not wanting to wait. She may not have been the same mainline counterpart, but apparently a second child — if they had a son or a daughter as this timeline had long since diverged — was guaranteed as long as Vegeta and Bulma were together long enough.

Food had been laid out as she wanted to celebrate the news, it honestly looked to be a great time.

Kurai was eating a meat skewer when the four time patrollers walked up to him.

"Hey." He greeted, noticing their approach.

"So…" Hollo began, "We've been thinking about getting back to the Time Nest, and so we wanted to ask Bulma if she could build us a ship to New Namek."

"We still aren't supposed to be here, despite how much fun it's been." Cauri supplied, speaking with a touch of regret over the general din of the party, "Maybe we can use The Namekian Dragon Balls to help."

"As a namekian myself and as an ally of Goku, they may trust us to not have any untoward intentions." Itar posited, "It could be that easy."

"You want to ask Porunga?" Kurai mused, "He is stronger than Shenron by fair amount… But is that really enough? From what Fuhai boasted, he used a Time Ring he fashioned. It may not be the genuine article; I get that it wasn't a ring made through a timeline change but still… Porunga isn't enough in my opinion, the time ring is artifact entrusted to the gods and kais."

"We can't just give up." Frigi replied with a touch of genuine discontent of being unable to do anything, "We promised to uphold the time stream, you know how hectic it gets, you just gave up trying to get back and settled here."

Kurai winced at the blunt accusation.

The Frost Demon had a fair point, he could've done more but a part of him didn't want to give this life up.

Shortly after Goku had achieved Super Saiyan 4, he had asked once to have the wishes for himself, as no one was hunting for the dragon balls and peace was holding out. Bulma had agreed on the condition that Kurai use one wish to make her and Chichi live to the same age as Vegeta and Goku respectively, something Kurai grinned mischievously over and agreed without hesitation.

With the radar in hand he had set out to gather the dragon balls, and once collected and Bulma's wish granted, he had two wishes left over.

He didn't immediately give up when he had asked Shenron and the dragon said that was impossible as traveling back to an area formed from a damaged and corrupted time scroll was beyond his ability to do. Kurai had protested but Shenron was adamant that it wasn't that he wouldn't but that he couldn't. For all his power in granting wishes, there were objects and circumstances out there that were beyond his ability to affect with his power. With that being the case, Kurai had then asked if he could be transported to the Time Nest in what time period he was in. Shenron said he couldn't do that either due to the anomalous nature of this timeline —as well as the scroll being damaged beyond repair — its ability to connect to the Time Nest was too tenuous for him to bypass. Kurai let out a huff of frustration at the fact he couldn't go back and decided that if that was impossible he should work on preventing future issues. With Goku Black in mind, he then asked that none of his allies and friends — himself included — could have their bodies switched with anyone else and use the remaining wish to empower the effect of the wish he just made so it would be impossible to undo no matter what.

He supposed that short of The Super Dragon Balls — which he had not intention of trying to gather unless he wanted the suspicion of all the gods — nothing could fix his situation and left it at that.

Shenron's eye glowed and he declared it was done as he dissolved into light and the seven dragon balls flew up into the skies before they scattered across the globe.

Kurai just left it at that and hoped no other dragons could undo it as they would avoid a major headache .

Kurai sighed, "I hope it works, because if it does I have a small favor."

Itar cocked his head to the side, "What would that be?"

"Use the first wish to reinforce the wish I made to Shenron about transferring bodies, I need to make sure Zamasu doesn't get a chance. I can't let this world suffer for his ambition and destructive nature, the worst case is Zamasu finding out about The Time Nest. I have no doubt that he will come to the Time Nest if he kills all the mortals in this universe. He will keep lusting for more and more power and a chance to remake all of the timelines fit his vision is something he can't resist. If he comes…"

The patrollers stiffened, "We won't let that happen, we'll fight tooth and nail to stop him."

"Things cannot be predicted." Kurai sighed unhappily, "Everything has changed and the future won't be the same either. It took Zeno to destroy the entire timeline to kill Zamasu and Whis visiting afterwards and fix things, you all wouldn't stand a chance if he isn't ended here."

Frigi sighed, understanding the real motivations as to why Kurai wanted to stay and nodded solemnly.

It was the right decision.

Dabura's attempt to kill the Supreme Kai of Time made it painfully obvious how vulnerable the Time Nest really was.

"I understand." Frigi replied, voice softer, "Then we leave the threats that can happen here to you. Anything else?"

Kurai shook his head, "No… that's about it. I can't run from what I can see happening here from now on. This is my home now. I won't abandon it."

"Are you sure you don't want to come back." Hollo offered, "The Supreme Kai of Time would understand…"

"I had a hand in the creation of this timeline, it's just as much my responsibility as Xtrunks or The Supreme Kai of Time. Let The Supreme Kai of Time know that I can't come back and warn her of the threats that she may not have thought of." Kurai said, looking over to where the Z-fighters chatted and laughed, "I may have been The Hero of Conton City, but that part of my life is now over; I retired from the Time Patrol when I decide to stay. The Hero of Toki Toki City and the other talented time patrollers can replace me without too much difficulty. The Supreme Kai doesn't need to worry about anything with them there, I… I am happy here. I have a life I long since missed. Let everyone think… that I didn't make it if that makes it easier for them, I don't want to be forced to lose this."

Itar nodded solemnly, "If we make it, then of course."

"Finally!" Fuhai said happily as he leaned away from his latest modification on Janemba.

Janemba was in his Super Form with a time breaker symbol overlaid with a majin symbol, his coloring now a dark blue and glimmering purple. He was contained in a sphere of time energy as he was glaring murder at Fuhai, who had been doing nothing but experimenting on Janemba to make him stronger. With the ripples of time he accessed he collected more time energy and was able to empower his ring to create more literally broken abilities. He also used his time ring in a new way to pull past iterations and it wasn't just limited to forms or power-ups. Three of the yellow Janembas with one of them a supervillain, a Super Janembas, a Supervillain Janemba, and finally the last and experimented on Janemba. It had taken a month of tweaking and adjusting but this Janemba would be the ideal opponent!

"You need a name…" Fuhai mused whimsically, "How about… Destruction King Janemba?"

He opened a portal to the Check-In station in the afterlife.

"Have fun!"

That was right about the time Hell visited Earth and started rampaging, destroying and taking lives until the Z-fighters rushed into the fray as they began to fight the dead. All the Z-fighter scattered in order to spread the enemies out and divert them away from the city areas but the regular damned weren't the only ones to escape and set their sights on The Earth and its various defenders.

"Kamehameha!" Yamcha shouted as he obliterate a line of skeletons and old time soldiers.

Tien used his multiform technique as even halved or quartered he was more than a match for the dead swarming the streets.

"What the heck is going on?" Krillin demanded as he threw out a volley of ki blasts, destroying a convoy of tanks, "What the hell is with all the zombies and dead?"

"If I knew, I'd tell you!" Trunks replied as he cleared out the area of the damned or dead with his blade, "The most we can do right now is keep these guys from overrunning the streets and killing people!"

"How fitting." A voice called out, "One of the Earthlings that foolishly tried to defy me on Namek and his friends."

The four fighters turned to see A familiar figure standing on a rocky outcropping surrounded by figures wearing familiar armor.

Krillin paled, "No way…"

Freiza stood upon the nearby building, surrounded by the Zarbon, Didoria, and The Ginyu Force as well as other aliens that comprised of the Freiza Forces when they were alive.

"How long have I waited in hell for my chance to enact my revenge?" He sneered, malice rolling off of him, "Too long. It would've been better had that monkey Goku been here, but I suppose I will make due with his loved ones."

Yamcha and Tien both got in their stance, eyeing the Ginyu Force as they shifted into combat stances themselves.

"You guys again? Did you forget the ass-kicking we gave you on King Kai's planet?" Yamcha taunted, "Or did we knock your memories loose?"

The Ginyu Force Members — sans Ginyu himself — all scowled.

Freiza laughed lightly, "Kill them, but leave their bodies as intact as possible. I want to savor the look of despair on the monkey's face when he realizes his friends are dead. Once he has lost everything then I'll make sure to destroy this filthy rock he calls home once and for all."

Majin Buu was livid.

Those meanies blew up his house!

It was such a good house too!

He had a play room that he and his two small human friends would play in or he could play by himself! Now they had attacked and nearly hurt the two friends that were Buu's buddies, no one got to hurt his buddies! It was lucky that they had managed to get out before the attackers got away.

Now he would have those orange balls with stars and get it back!

But first he would show all those meanies what it meant to anger Majin Buu!

Goten and Trunks were working together to beat back the numerous dead that were flooding the area when Buu let out an angry scream.

"I'll turn you all into candy!" He roared as he began to rampage.

Goku frowned as he saw Dabura and Bojack both leering at him as he crossed his arms, "You do realize neither of you could beat Buu right?"

And here he had hoped for a good fight.

He supposed it would have to do as a warm up.

Vegeta couldn't help laughing as he saw Nappa and Raditz both standing in front of him, scowling and murderous. Knowing how outclassed the two saiyans were, Cell was waiting patiently behind the two, but Vegeta was still not impressed by the bio-android. He had been present when Gohan fought Cell and he knew he was stronger than the half-saiyan — though impressed that he had finally achieved Super Saiyan 3 and was growing still— and would've made quick work of the majin empowered Cell. He hadn't let his power languish and trained relentlessly with Kakarot and Kurai whenever he could. They had more than a year's worth of training for any future threats and he didn't think any of the sinners had any time in there. He had been incredibly lucky had a chance to 'work' off his sins by quelling uprisings that occurred in HFIL — thanks to literally everyone pulling some strings with King Yemma and begging for a way for Vegeta to be helped — and knew for a fact there was little to do there besides laze around in relative misery. You could grow if you managed to move past that; you could train and become stronger, but usually there was little point to doing so.

Clearly those in front of him had done little to no training while there.

He would crush them and then find the culprit of this imbalance.

Gohan was in the middle of a presentations when the screams and explosions began coming from the window. Everyone had paled upon seeing the city under attack and Gohan scowled as he realized some of the attackers were dressed in the armors of The Freiza Force. Why the hell were they attacking now?

He felt Piccolo defending the city as best as he could, but the numbers were too great and Piccolo couldn't be everywhere at once.

It didn't matter.

Every second he waited was a dozen lives lost.

He escorted everyone down the hall towards the basement for protection and immediately ran in the other direction despite his colleagues' protests.

He immediately began decimating the attacking force with all the speed he had.

Kurai was actually in Other World with Master Roshi when Hell literally broke loose, trying to learn The Turtle Hermit's version of 'Ultra Instinct'.

In some of the timelines that Kurai had studied during his time in the Time Nest he had watched over the Tournament of Power. There was one timeline when he had heard that Beerus himself noted that Master Roshi might be the mortal with the closest understanding of what Ultra Instinct was. Since it was the progression that was attained and mastered by Goku sometime after Broly came to Earth and he trained with Whis. Unfortunately for Kurai, he didn't have Whis to work with and he knew that even if he did, his body would pay a heavy toll if undertrained if he ever managed it. Whis had worked over Goku and Vegeta relentlessly and even then it had damn near killed the Saiyans just to survive. It had wrecked havoc on Goku even after the saiyan had trained to allow his body to hold up to the strain of using Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan in conjunction with the Kaio-ken times twenty.

Kurai — even with Super Saiyan 4 training and whatever strengthening he had been doing to his base — knew he was not there and would not be for some time. So an technique that was something like it that didn't require a transformation to use and strain him was his best bet for the time being.

The Turtle Hermit had passed away early in the androids rampage all those years ago and even after being revived had passed soon after that. He had died with no regrets, and asked not be revived as he had long since served his home and students to the best of his duty. He was happy that he had so many to see him off, the family he had was something he promised cherish and remember no matter where he ended up.

Naturally he had been happy where he ended up as despite his incurable perversion he was overall a good person.

Master Roshi had instructed him to have a clear mind to use it, and as long as that was the basis you worked with, you could do it.

The problem for Master Roshi was well…

Master Roshi was a massive pervert and though he could use the technique, his own 'tendencies' somewhat hampered his own ability to use it.

Mainly against any reasonably attractive female fighter.

Which was a vast majority of the female martial artist available; if you were a fighter, you generally were fit and attractive. Heaven had plenty of eye candy for him to leer at when he wasn't relaxing or — as of three weeks ago — training Kurai. Despite how difficult Kurai thought it would be to make Master Roshi focus, he didn't put anything less than his full effort into teaching Kurai. What made it considerably easier to help Master Roshi keep himself on track was he often 'wandered' in the general direction of the baths if he wanted to 'observe' women.

Either way, Kurai knew it wasn't impossible for him thanks to his mild temperament, but it was slow going as he was literally sparring with Roshi with a blindfold. The attacks didn't hurt but that wasn't the point of the training he was going through, the point was to not get hit at all.

And while he was — if nothing else — sharpening his other senses to compensate for the lack of vision, he hadn't even had an inkling of ultra instinct.

Then again, he only had a fraction of the sheer experience that made Roshi an actual combatant in the Tournament of Power and not a joke.

It was about two days into his fourth week of training that the massive jelly beans began falling out of the sky and Kurai stifled a annoyed sigh.

Really.

Janemba again?

Somewhere hidden on a planet only available to the gods, a loud explosion shook a chamber when a god slept soundly.

"Lord Beerus. It's time to wake up."

Another explosion and Beerus turned over irritably, "A few more years Whis…"

Whis tsked in annoyance, "Lord Beerus, I have given you more than your allotted time for sleep."

The God of Destruction mumbled in annoyance but sat up and yawned, "Very well, I'm up."
