Despite everyone being beaten and bruised, they were all stocking up for the next fight. I had brought Lucy back, and she revealed to everyone who she was. Many people gathered around Macao and Wakaba as they inspected a map, making a plan. I stood next to Lucy, arms crossed and leaning against the wall. She had her head bowed and her fists clutched in her lap. "Don't worry." Gray assured the sulking blonde. "We'll get 'em back for this." Lucy looked down a little more.
"I know." She said softly. "I'm not worried about that. It's just…all my fault…"
"Being targeted by dangerous people is just one of the downsides of being rich." Elfman stated. "At least you're protected by a real man, like me!" I turned my head and glared harshly at Elfman, my lips pulling back over my teeth.
"Will you give it a rest already!" Gray spat at him.
"I gotta say, I was shocked when I heard the news." Happy admitted. "Why'd you hide the truth from us Lucy?"
"I wasn't trying to hide anything!" Lucy protested. "I mean, there's no way to bring up the fact that I'm a runaway in casual conversation. I've been gone for a year and my father hasn't cared. Now all of a sudden he's forcing me to come home? He's done all those horrible things just to get me to go back. I hate his guts! Still, if I hadn't run away in the first place, none of this would have ever happened."
"Don't be ridiculous, your dad's the one to blame!" Elfman said.
"Elfman…" I growled.
"Uh, it's Phantom's fault!"
"No…" Lucy argued softly. "I'm the one who brought trouble to the Guild and it's all because of my own selfish choices. I'm so very sorry…I'm just going to go back home and hopefully, all this will be over…" I pushed myself off the wall and knelt in front of Lucy, taking her hands in mine.
"You don't have to go back." I assured her gently. "Knowing you…I don't see you sitting helplessly doing anything in a mansion. Being here, in Fairy Tail, laughing with us in the dirty Guild Hall, coming on us on adventures even if they scare you…that is who you are. You told me that you wanted to stay with us, so what reason would you have to go back to the place you felt miserable in." Lucy looked up at me, tears in her eyes. "You're Lucy of Fairy Tail, you belong here." I turned Lucy's hand over to reveal her Guild Mark. "This proves it."
"I'm sorry." Lucy sobbed, bringing her hands up to her face. I stood up a little, pulling her into a hug. She clutched at my shirt, pulling me closer. I was vaguely aware of Cana failing to find Mystogan, and Laxus being an absolute ass, not coming back to help save his grandfather. If we look at the ranking of Guild Members, right now, I was the top-ranked member, so it was my job now to lead the Guild. Suddenly, there was a loud crash and the earth shook.
"What's goin' on?!" Gray demanded Alzack then ran down the stairs, a wild look in his eye.
"OUTSIDE!" He shouted. Fairy Tail exited the Guild, and I paled…there was…a walking…building….
"What is that thing!?" Natsu demanded. We all watched in horror as the building approached us.
"It's a Guild Hall with ginormous legs!" Happy exclaimed.
"Is it Phantom?" Loke wondered, the Guild Hall getting closer and closer.
"How do we fight that thing?!" Wakaba cried.
"I never anticipated this." Erza said shakily, only clad in a towel as she had just gotten out of the shower. "I can't believe they'd go to such extremes to attack us!" The walking Guild Hall then stopped, and then a wall slid down. I watched as a cannon of some sort extended, and pointed directly at our Guild. A black ball of energy formed at the end of it, growing in size.
"Everyone back away!" I shouted, rushing forward. "I've got this!"
"No, Yami!" Lucy cried.
"Yami!" Mira shouted.
"What are you doing!?" Loke asked.
"I'm protecting the Guild Hall, dumbasses, what does it look like?!" I shot back.
"Is she gonna try and…eat the cannon's shot?" Bisca wondered.
"But there's no way she can eat a blast that strong!" Alzack stated.
"You're just risking your life, this is ridiculous!" Wakaba called. The large Magic Cannon fired, and I felt pressure against my back. Glancing behind me, I saw Erza with her Adamantium Armour pressed up against me to help. As the blast drew closer, I started sucking in Ethernano. A large, Black Dragon Slaying Magic Circle appeared before me. The blast became smaller, seemingly becoming a funnel as it entered my mouth. But…Alzack was right, and the Magic was too much.
"Yami, it's ok." Erza assured me. "You took most of the blast. I've got the rest. I looked back, and saw Erza giving me a determined look. I nodded, and dodged out of the way. A massive Magic Circle appeared before Erza as she took the rest of the blast. I kept out of the way, but it was too much for Erza as well. Her armour started cracking breaking apart little by little. And then…her shield fell away, and she was thrown back. Erza rolled a little and came to a stop.
"I don't believe it…" Macao said, his voice breathless. Natsu raced up to Erza.
"Are you ok?" He asked, kneeling next to her. "Say something!"
"Makarov has fallen." A voice echoed from the walking Guild. My eyes snapped up to it and I snarled, smoke curling from my lips. I slowly got to my feet, glaring up at Phantom Lord. "And now Erza can no longer stand. Any chance of victory has slipped through your fingers. Surrender Lucy Heartfelia immediately." Master Jose ordered. "You have no choice."
"That's not gonna happen!" Alzack said.
"Like any Guild would hand over one of their own to a monster like you!" Bisca added.
"You hear that! Lucy's staying put!" Macao shouted. Fairy Tail shouted agreement, protesting Lucy going with him.
"I won't ask again!" Jose demanded. No one listened, still arguing.
"How dare you!" I roared. "Lucy is one of ours, we would never betray her like that! You'd have to kill all of us first! We won't give you any other answer so stop asking! We're going to tear Phantom Lord down, brick by brick, until we find out who sent you, and then, we're going to kill them too!"
"You can stop now because we're not giving you another answer!" Natsu cried. "We're taking every one of you jerks down!"
"If Death is what you want then I'll give you a second helping of Jupiter!" Jose called from the Phantom Guild Hall. "You've got fifteen minutes to ponder the folly of your actions!"
"No way…" Elfman muttered.
"What do we do?" Cana asked shakily.
"They're going to fire at us again!?" Loke demanded. I heard a soft thud, and looked down at Erza.
"Oh no, she's out!" Gray said. Suddenly, hundreds of shades flew from the Phantom Guild Hall, swarming quickly.
"You're in quite a quandary, aren't you Fairy Tail?" Jose mused. "There are only two ways this situation can play out. Either my troops will tear you apart, or you'll be blown away by Jupiter."
"We've got to do something to take out that Jupiter Cannon." Cana said. Natsu then declared he would break the Cannon, and Happy flew him towards it. Gray and Elfman said that they would also storm the Phantom Guild Hall. I walked up to Lucy, gently taking her hand and leading her to a back alley towards Reeds.
"I need you to go with Reedus." I told her. "We have a hideout a little further into the city, you have to stay there for your own safety, until this is all over."
"No!" Lucy protested, tugging her hand out of mine. I turned to her. "It's all my fault we're in this mess, I just can't abandon everyone while they're out there fighting for me!"
"Lucy, no one thinks that what's happening is your fault." I told her. "Everyone else is fighting for the Guild, for their honour, they're all proud to fight…but I'm fighting for you and you alone. I can't do that while I'm worried about your safety there. And…I'm sorry for what I'm about to do." I reached forward and my hand lit up with a pale glow. Lucy fell unconscious and collapsed in my arms. I looked up at my Guildmate. "Reedus, take Lucy to the hideout."
"Oui!" Reedus exclaimed. He lifted his shirt and painted a boar and buggy on his stomach, which then appeared in front of him. I set Lucy in the back, drawing a blanket over her. Before Reedus could get in, I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him down to me.
"Listen to me, Reedus." I started lowly. "You protect Lucy with everything you have, ok? If anything happens to her, it's your ass on the line." Reedus nodded shakily. Once I let him go, he got in the buggy and left. I then took a breath, calming my heart before I turned to the battle again. I passed by Mira, who had used Transformation Magic to make herself look like Lucy. "I'm going to help take out the members of the Element Four." I announced to my Guild Mates. "Are you all ok fighting here?"
"We're good Yami!" Bisca shouted at me.
"Take that thing out!" Cana added. I nodded. My black and blue wings unfurled from my back and I flew up, shooting towards the Jupiter Cannon. I would protect my Lucy with everything I had.
