Chapter 5, Reactions.
Everyone had different thoughts about Harry Potter being sorted into Slytherin.
Ron Weasley was sitting in his bed wide awake, he couldn't stop today's events from replaying in his head, Harry Potter had seemed so nice when they had spoken on the train ride here, but then Harry got sorted into Slytherin.
Ron was confused, a little angry and also scared, "This is bad, all of those snakes are evil, does that mean that Harry's evil too, was everything that he said to me just an act" thought Ron.
At this point Ron began to remember some rumours that he had heard about Harry before coming to Hogwarts, rumours that Harry wasn't some saver and he was in fact just the next Dark lord who would end up being even worst then Voldemort.
At this Ron's fear began to increase, he started to imagine Harry as some evil creature that would hunt him and his family down.
That night Ron had a nightmare that he was being chased by Harry and all of the other Slytherins who was all casting curses at him.
Albus Dumbledore was filled with confusion, guilt and worry, he was confused that the son of Lily and James Potter had been sorted into Slytherin, he felt guilty that leaving Harry with the Dursleys had somehow coursed this to happen, and he was worried of what this could mean for the future.
Dumbledore had been waiting for the day that Harry would come to Hogwarts for 10 years, in that time he had made many plans and back up plans, he had done so much work to make sure that Voldemort would be defeated for good.
But the one thing that Dumbledore had not planned for was Harry being sorted into Slytherin, it had never even crossed his mind as a possibility, but now that it had happened Dumbledore realised how foolish he had been for not thinking of it.
The only question now was what could he do about it, he couldn't overrule the Sorting hat, and he couldn't just ask Harry if he would like to transfer to a different house, the more Dumbledore thought the more he realised that he couldn't do anything without arousing suspicion.
Dumbledore sighed as he sat at his desk and throw a sherbet lemon into his mouth, it seemed that he only had one option, sit bad and wait and hope that things worked out.
Hagrid was in is hut climbing into bed, it had certainly been an interesting day, he had been looking forward to today since he had picked Harry up from the Dursleys, and like everyone else Hagrid had expected Harry to be place into Gryffindor, it had certainly been a shock when the hat had said Slytherin
Still Hagrid didn't think too much of it, yes it had caught him off guard in the moment but he had recovered, Hagrid didn't really care if Harry was in Slytherin, he had been here for 50 years and in that time he had meet plenty of good Slytherins.
Professor Snape was in his office unable to even consider going to bed, he was extremely conflicted about what had happened today.
Snape had known that Harry Potter would be coming to Hogwarts this year and he had been dreading it, then when Snape had seen Harry standing in line with the other First-years he felt like he was back at school again.
Harry looked just like his father, it was as if James Potter had been reborn just too haunt him, when Harry had stepped up to the Sorting hat Snape had not even bothered to look, he already knew what it was about to say.
But then the hat had said Slytherin and Snape felt as if reality had just broken, he felt as if he had stepped into a horrible parallel universe that existed just to annoy him, how could someone who looked so much like James Potter be sorted into anything but Gryffindor.
Now Snape didn't know what to think, he had expected a copy of James Potter in both body and mind, but what happened today would make James Potter sick, Snape could imagine James in the afterlife right now screaming that the hat was wrong and that there had been a mistake, this thought did amuse Snape.
Snape rubbed his head as he tried to make sense of all of this, Harry Potter the-boy-who-lived was in his house, Harry Potter the son of James Potter was in his house, Harry Potter the son of Lily was in his house.
Snape needed more time to think about this, luckily he wouldn't have to teach the boy until Friday, that would at least give him some time to figure this out.
