Sing crouched in the darkness of the abandoned subway tunnel. He looked at his watch and cursed under his breath.

A quiet patter echoed off the concrete walls. Sing glanced around the pillar but the tunnel was empty.

Two arms reached silently out of the darkness and clamped a hand over his mouth and dragged him back.

"Shh," Ash whispered. "We were followed."

Sing nodded and Ash released him. He turned and was met with a guilty smile and shrug from Shorter.

Ash glanced out at the empty tunnel before pulling back into the shadows. He shook his head and pointed the other direction.

Sing's ears strained but he didn't hear anything. How did Ash know that someone was there?

"Maintenance tunnel," Ash breathed. "Come on."

Ash pulled out a small object.

"Go!" Ash whispered.

He pulled the pin and dropped the bomb at their feet. Sing and Shorter's eyes widened in surprise. Their legs sprang out from under them and they took off down the tunnel, racing after Ash.

Surprised shouts sounded behind them and running feet that took off after them. The fuse went out and a cloud of smoke suddenly billowed into the tunnel, covering their escape.

"You could have told me it was a smoke bomb!" Shorter gasped as they burst out on the other side of the maintenance tunnel.

"Then you wouldn't have run as fast," Ash panted, smiling.

"We don't have time," Sing said. " Yut-Lung came to visit me. He took four of our best shooters. He said he needed someone who spoke Japanese."

Shorter's eyes widened and Ash cursed under his breath.

"I sent Lao," Sing continued quickly. "He says that they're moving tonight. Golzine is throwing a party, celebrating his tax evasion or something like that."

Shorter shook his head. "Distracted, minimal guard." He looked at Ash darkly. "It'll seem like the perfect opportunity to strike."

"Eiji's making his move tonight," Sing said. "And he's walking right into a trap."

Eiji pulled on his white jacket and brushed back his hair. He glanced in the mirror and glared at the dark eyes that stared back out at him. He tucked the gun into his waistband and smoothed his jacket over it.

The people stepped around him as he navigated through the crowd. Rich men and women who took the glasses of champagne off his tray and thanked him politely without ever seeing his face.

Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of Dino. He had only two men on either side of him. In this sea of people, Eiji could kill Dino before his men even knew he was there.

Eiji grit his teeth and turned away. He smiled and nodded at the patrons, handing out drinks as he wandered towards the door he knew led deeper into the complex.

There were two men stationed outside the door, looking polite but heavily armed. Eiji stepped towards the back wall and smiled at them and huffed out heavily as if to say "What a night."

He stiffened suddenly and touched his ear. "Yes, sir? Right away, Papa Dino!"

He scrambled to find a place to set down his tray and raced towards the door. The guards had unlocked and opened the door for him before he got there. He gave them a frantic nod as a thank you and dashed down the hallway.

The doors closed behind him and Eiji glanced back coldly. He stopped and closed his eyes, taking a minute to remember the layout; the path he had been dragged down the night they killed Max Glenreed.

He opened his eyes and jogged down the hallway, his gun in his hand.

Abraham Dawson cursed and threw his chair to the ground in frustration.

"That strain was a one-in-a-million defect," he muttered. "It'll take years to-"

Two sharp blasts sounded from the hallway outside. Dawson turned and his eyes widened as the door opened as one of the guards fell dead against it. A tall, young man with black hair and dark eyes stepped through, his gun still smoking.

"Y-you!" Dawson stuttered, tripping over his chair and falling to the ground as he tried to back away.

Eiji's cold eyes moved from the body on the ground to Dawson.

"The computer," he said, raising his gun. "Unlock it."

Dawson scrambled to the computer and typed in the passcode. He stepped back as Eiji came forward. His eyes flashed back and forth on the screen. Then he deleted everything and then grabbed one of the Bunsen burners and set fire to the whole thing.

"What are you doing?" Dawson screamed, rushing towards the flames.

"What I should have done years ago," Eiji answered.

A quiet gasp left Dawson as the bullet went through his heart, killing him instantly. Eiji turned and wrenched open the metal file cabinets, tossing the papers on to the growing fire.

The heat from the flames became so intense Eiji had to shield his face and back away. The fire was climbing up the walls, spreading to every corner of the room, consuming everything in its path. The flames would destroy anything he had missed.

He turned and cried out as a bullet pierced his shoulder. Eiji dove behind cover and clutched at his arm in pain.

"You idiot!" a man shouted. "We're not supposed to use real bullets!"

Eiji glanced out and saw Lao was among the shooters. He glared at Eiji darkly.

"They can't understand us, Eiji." he shouted. "I'm the only one who speaks Japanese. You can't win against us. We have orders to take you alive. If you can make it to the back alley, Sing will help you get away."

Lao glanced at the others and grit his teeth. "Now what's your answer?"

Eiji dove from his cover and the four assailants opened fire. Eiji shielded his face as he leapt through the growing flames and escaped through the back door.

"He went through the fire!" one of the men shouted.

They leapt back as the ceiling started to cave in, falling in flames all around them.

"It's no good!" Lao shouted. "Get back!"

The video tape stopped.

Golzine looked up, his face black with hatred. "What do you think, Colonel Fox?"

The gray haired man pulled a cigarette from his lips and smiled. "You have quite the son. It's hard to believe he's just a teenager."

He glanced at Yut-Lung who was glaring at the screens, arms crossed. Yut-Lung looked at Golzine and bowed deeply.

"It seems one of the men I sent was a turncoat," he said. "I apologize deeply for my mistake."

Golzine waved him off. "It's impossible to control every last one of your men. This man obviously knew Eiji. I do not blame you for your men falling prey to his charm. After all, that is what he was trained for."

Yut-Lung hid the grinding of his teeth by bowing again.

Golzine turned. "So how about it, Colonel?"

Fox smiled, "I accept your offer."
