I OWN NOTHING!!!

Chapter 2 The Crazy Clingy Catgirl

It was love at first sight.

As cheesy as it sounds, that was the best way I could describe it.

Officially, I first met Jaune at Beacon Academy for initiation. But, that wasn't the first time I saw him.

It was the day before initiation and, like many other applicants, was staying at a hotel in the city of Vale. With nothing better to do, I wandered around town to familiarize myself with the area.

It was a good idea considering if I did successfully become a student, I was going to be spending a lot of time there.

It was after leaving a bookstore when I saw him.

It was a stereotypical scenario that I'd have more likely have read about in my novels, rather than real life.

In an alley, a group of four rough looking humans had surrounded a dirty and disheveled faunus kid. His brown dog tail was tucked between his legs in fear as he tried to shield himself from the beating he was bound to receive.

The leader of the group was an enormous brute. Easily 7 feet tall and built like a tank and dressed in leather with a large scar running over his left eye and nose and a bushy grey beard. By the massive mechanical bar of steel in his hands, it was likely he was an ex-huntsman.

The other three were your stereotypical hood rats.

I was too far away to hear what was being said, but it didn't stop me from preparing to intervene before the blonde man I would later come to know as Jaune stepped in.

He was clearly out of his element in his outdated frontier style militia armor worn over his usual clothes, when without hesitation, he grabbed the leader's raised weapon and introduced his own fist to the thug's jaw.

The bastard dropped in an instant.

His cronies tried to take the frontiersman, but was largely unsuccessful. The first was dropped when Jaune ducked low to punch him in the knee that painfully bent it inwards, that was followed up by Jaune snapping a hand to the now lowered head and slamming it into the pavement.

The second gangster wannabe was taken out when Jaune shot upright with an uppercut to his jaw and kneed him in the crotch. Only to be forcefully shoved into the wall with enough force to shake the years of accumulated dust and grime off of it.

The third and final crook must have had some brains because he took off running as soon as Jaune rounded on him. I say he only had some brains because the moron had went deeper into the alley only to knock himself out at the dead end.

Jaune's next course of action was to turn towards the poor and clearly frightened faunus boy to check him over for any injuries. And when he was satisfied with his inquiry, Jaune allowed the child who couldn't have been any older than seven or eight, to climb onto his back so he could presumably take the kid back to his home.

Out of instinct, I followed.

Whether it was to ensure Jaune was the kind of person he presented to be or to aid him from the shadows, I don't know. But whatever my fears were, they were unfounded.

Jaune had successfully returned the child back to an orphanage for faunus children near the city docks. The child gave his new hero a hug and got his hair ruffled before heading back inside, loudly making his declaration.

"I'm gonna be a knight just like Mr. Jaune one day!"

That was when I first heard Jaune's name.

And it wouldn't be until the weekend of what became known between our future teams as the 'Dock Incident', would I revisit that orphanage...

It was getting late so I returned to my hotel room. And after getting ready for bed I decided to turn on the T.V. when I saw the face of the ex-huntsman Jaune had knocked out being led into the police station in Aura restraining handcuffs. His name was Alister Stone. An infamous former huntsman turned trafficker and was nearly as dangerous as Banesaw. Adam's right hand after me.

'Good riddance...'

I found myself praying to anyone who was listening that Jaune was another Beacon applicant like myself and that I would see him again.

My prayers were answered. But I found myself unable to speak to him.

What would I say?

What would I do?

My books made things look so much easier...

My chances with him were further hindered when both Bleiss Schnee (of all people, why was she here?) and THE Pyrrha Nikos took notice of him on day fucking one!

It didn't help matters when Jaune ripped that massive Deathstalker apart with his bare hands in retaliation for nearly skewering Ruby with it's stinger.

Or when he coordinated a plan with Ruby to take out the giant Nevermore.

In the coming weeks, it became clearly evident that what he lacked in finesse and proper training, he made up for in raw brute strength, savagely natural instinct, and strategic genius.

Which earned him Yang's (my new equally blonde partner) attention.

By the end of the fourth week, after that whole fiasco with Cardin trying to blackmail Jaune for getting knocked out by him for harassing Velvet (I still have that moment saved on my scroll) with some bogus claim about Jaune having forged transcripts, I had more or less accepted the fact that I was not ever going to have a chance to talk to Jaune one on one.

It was just a week before 'The Dock Incident' when we had our first real conversation.

"Hey, uh, can we talk?"

Never mind.

I was in the library reading some of my more... Risque material...

'Just when it was getting good!'

Fighting a blush at nearly being caught getting to one of the 'spicier' scenes, I quickly stowed the book and looked to my dream guy.

What? He was exactly my type and I already admitted my feelings for him. (In my head, at least.)

It probably didn't help that I'm a dirty little race traitor...

.

I blame finding Ninjas of Love when I was twelve.

.

"What are you doing here?" Dammit! Why did I have to say it like that?

If he was at all bothered by my unintended prickliness, he didn't show it.

"This is probably one of the last place Bleiss will think to look," he simply answered with a tired sigh.

Makes sense. And it worked in my favor that Jaune had yet to realize that Bleiss was actually serious about him.

It didn't take long to figure out that Jaune is pretty dense when it came to girls. Then again, it probably wasn't his fault.

Bleiss was way too agressive. And for someone who likely had never been in a romantic relationship, Jaune probably thought she was making fun of him.

Pyrrha was too nice to everyone and far too passive around her partner.

Ruby was too naive to realize her attraction to him.

Yang was too much of a mega-virgin who had no idea what she was doing and had no idea she was walking herself into the female equivalent of the 'bro-zone' with Jaune.

And Velvet was just too shy.

I, however, was prepared! My books and research would pave the way to victory!

"Also, I was kind of looking for you..." Jaune almost bashfully trailed.

Really!?! Was he making the first move?

"Really? What for?" I asked, desperately trying to keep my cool composure and definitely not get too excited for what I was hoping to hear.

"Er, yeah... Uh, does your team know about your... Ummm..." He gestured above his head and looked pointedly at my bow.

My mind froze for a second as I registered the fact that he was most definitely NOT asking me out on a date. I would have been disappointed if it weren't for the subject of our conversation being about my faunus heritage.

He knows?!?

He knows!!!

"I'm not gonna say anything about 'it', Arc's Promise," Jaune continued, likely seeing my rising panic. "I just think your team should know about this sort of thing if they don't already."

Knowing already how seriously Jaune took his promises, I calmed down. Why would I ever think someone as kind as him would turn on me?

"No," I answered, "they don't know. But more importantly, how do you know about 'them'?"

It was Jaune's turn to look surprised.

"Oh. Um, it's because they twitch. Like right now... So I suspected you were hiding them on the first day. And ummm... You didn't really do yourself any favors using your actual name. I kind of figured it out when doing a paper on faunus rights in Dr. Oobleck's class and started looking into the history of the White Fang..." Jaune answered while holding up an aged newspaper from seven years ago. It was showing a picture of my parents and ten year old me at a rally in the rapidly growing outpost in Mantle at the time that would later become the trading hub known as Argus.

"So you just put two and two together..." I finished. I pride myself on my intelligence, but at that moment, I felt like I was wearing a damn dunce cap instead of my bow.

"Yeah... That confirmed it for me..." Jaune conceded, "and I meant what I said. I won't say anything! But you should let them know. If I figured it out this quickly, who knows when somebody else will. It's only a matter of time before one of them finds out and things could get ugly."

I quietly nodded, more out of mortified embarrassment for having been found out so easily, than solemn resolve.

"Well, I'll leave you to it. And whatever happens, I've got your back." Having spoken his piece, Jaune left without another word.

He was gone before I could say anything. As I mulled over his words and the implications of what I had learned.

Jaune had figured out that I'm a faunus ages ago and had elected not to say anything until now. Not only had he effortlessly captured my heart, but now he had my complete and utter trust.

Over the next few days, I made it my mission to actively seek out one on one time with my beloved. Or, if it came down to it, make time.

It was apparent that Jaune needed a safe space from the craziness of our two teams from time to time.

Thankfully, being the librarian's favorite student had its perks.

Like creating a closed off section for just Jaune and I.

It was perfect.

Then, the 'Incident' happened.

My team and I were in Downtown Vale, by the docks because Bleiss thought she could appeal to Jaune's 'tactical side' by spying on our upcoming competition for the Vytal Festival.

That was when we came across a taped off crime scene. Another Dust robbery.

Bleiss then went off on a tangent about how the White Fang were all assholes and no better than her father...

I did not take that very well... But in hindsight, I can see she wasn't exactly wrong...

We stopped arguing thanks to our respective partners.

Only to start back up in full force after meeting Sun.

Our spat carried on back to our dorm in Beacon that night when things reached the boiling point.

"Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!"

Jaune's warning flashed in my mind as soon as the words left my mouth.

And I'll never forget for the first and only time I saw genuine fear in Bleiss's eyes.

I'm not proud of myself for running. For a while, I felt like that was the only thing I was good for.

I ran from my parents.

I ran from Adam and the White Fang.

And now, I ran from my own team and friends.

After teaming up with Sun and foolishly trying to take on Roman Torchwick who had somehow allied himself with the White Fang, I vowed to myself that I was done running from my problems.

I didn't run when Adam came and attacked Beacon.

I didn't run when Jaune killed him either.

And I sure as Hell wasn't going to run now that Jaune was finally in my arms.

I quietly giggled to myself. As I listened to his steady heartbeat.

'I can definitely get used to this.'

Jaune was mine! Thank you Nora for this cruise! I will buy you so much pancake mix!

Everything has gone according to plan!

Oh, it seems that Jaune was waking up.

I pulled myself closer to him when I felt him shift underneath me, and in response, he stilled.

He probably doesn't remember a thing and is most likely mentally freaking out.

'Don't worry, dear, I'll give you a morning to remember now that you're more... Aware...'

Oh, he's definitely awake now. I felt his hand reach my ears and set to work.

'Good... That feels so, so, so damn good!' I purred.

And when he stopped, I felt it was time to reward him with a good morning kiss.

"Mmhmm... Morning Jaune..."

'I love you.'

AND SCENE!!!

So... I've gone and made Blake go down the (softcore) yandere route.

You know how cats sometimes just up and decide to adopt a human?

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened.

I kind of hinted that this was gonna happen with the title of this fic, some folks say alcohol IS a poison after all.

And I hinted it again in the chapter's title.

Now how do y'all think the others will react to this development?
