Chapter One

A few hours passed before she finally woke up, her eyes fluttered open. She sat up and quickly glanced around, looking for the girl she had taken with her. At first, there was no sign of her, but then she saw her. Gathering some sticks, she wasn't sure about but she called out to her.

"007?" She spoke up, startling the little girl who then turned around and ran towards her.

"003!" The pink-haired girl ran straight into her arms, and began sobbing. 003 couldn't help but feel kind of sad, the girl and her barely knew each other and yet... here she was, crying into her like they were actual sisters.

"Shh... It's okay... We're out, they won't get us again... I promise." 003 didn't feel bad making this promise, as she knew that they would never be able to take 007. She knew how the manga started, and she knew up until the latest chapter she had read. The last chapter she had read was chapter 87, which was the one in which Agent Nightfall, one of Twilight's coworkers had been sent to the hospital due to her injuries following a brutal fight.

"Big Sister 003... We shouldn't stick around." Despite 007's difficulty pronouncing certain words, 003 knew exactly what she was saying. She nodded in agreement as she picked up the girl, and began to walk towards the sound of cars, and horns. She looked down at the girl, and the girl stared up with confusion. "What's wrong?" She asked, and 003 shook her head.

"I was just thinking about how we can't go by 003 and 007 anymore." 003 pointed out, smiling down at the little girl. "We need to come up with names."

"Anya!" The girl stated, and 003 stopped, if her memories were correct most of the children in the facility weren't allowed to use their names. She couldn't help but wonder why Anya was allowed to use a name.

"Okay, Anya... What should my name be then?" She thought for a moment, before smiling down at Anya. "Let's match. You have an A, so I'll have an A. How about Annie?"

"Big Sister Annie!" Anya giggled, wrapping her arms around Annie's neck to give her a hug.

They eventually made it to a town, but ended up bouncing from orphanage to orphanage. Eventually they settled down in one, but Anya was adopted three different times. All times she was returned, her hope for a family slowly diminishing every time she is. But, every time she does Annie is there for her. Annie helps her, teaches her new things, without using the word 'study'. In her memories she knew that the word 'study' was used a lot in the facility, and in order to teach Anya, Annie decided it would be best to not use that word due to it holding trauma for her.

Finally, after a year... the day finally came. Twilight walked through the orphanage's doors, and asked to adopt a child. He asked specifically for an intelligent child, and thanks to Annie's tutoring, Anya was among one of the smartest in the orphanage. He brought her to Anya, who does a word search in front of him.

"Anya, get over here!" The orphanage owner's slurred speech was heard, and Anya stands up to go talk to the guy. "This is the smartest one we got, she don't say much but she's a good kid. Greet the man, Anya!" Anya stared at the man for a second, before turning to Loid.

"Ahh... perhaps not." He said, but his thoughts told the rest of the story. 'You have to be at least six to enroll at Eden Academy. This girl looks four, five at the oldest...'

"Six!" Anya exclaimed, with a serious expression on her face. She was lying, she knew it, Annie knew it. The statement was responded by a 'Hmm?' from Loid, and she continued. "I'm six." She stated.

"Huh, you're six already?" the orphanage owner says, confused slightly. 'She seems much too short to be-' Loid's thought was cut off when he noticed Anya attempting to make herself taller by standing on her tippy toes. She randomly turns around and runs to the table, grabbing a word search. This time was different though, Annie could tell that Anya was filling out the answers without reading Loid's mind. Had her tutoring actually helped Anya become more intelligent? It would make sense. She finished it in no time, and Loid loudly proclaims that he wants to adopt her.

"..." Although Anya was excited, she fell silent and glanced over at Annie, who sat on the floor where they had been sitting together. Who smiled softly as she looked at the two. "Big Sister Annie, too!" Anya stated, taking everyone in the room off guard. Annie shook her head and smiled.

"It's okay, Anya! I'll be okay!" She tried to talk the girl down, not wanting to cause any more rifts in the canon of the story if she had truly somehow been transferred into the story. 'Hmm... Donovan Desmond does have two sons, it couldn't hurt to have two players on the field.' Annie's stomach turned. She didn't want to change the story, she didn't want to alter the events of a story that gave her so much comfort in her life.

It's decided, from today you two are Forgers!" Loid exclaimed, as Anya turned to Annie with excitement. She ran over and hugged Annie. Annie then stood up, and carried Anya as the they walked outside.

"Listen up, little girls." Loid started, but before he could continue, Anya butted in.

"It's Anya!" She exclaimed, looking over towards the man who had just adopted them. Annie turned towards him and smiled softly.

"I'm Annie, although I presume you already guessed that by the fact that Anya here already said my name inside the orphanage." Loid was genuinely surprised by Annie's use of words and maturity, and he nodded softly.

"Yes, anyways listen up Anya, Annie..." He began while stopping in the street and crossing his arms, standing in front of them. "I've just adopted you, but if anyone asks you have always been my daughter's." Anya and Annie nodded, but Annie spoke up with a concern she had. "You are to address me as father, as the elite do."

"Papa!" Anya cheered, and Annie just smiled down at her.

"That's all fine and good, father. However, what are we going to do about our appearance? You could always say that Anya looks just like her mother, but I do have blue eyes like you do. My black hair is the problem." Loid stopped and thought for a moment, nodding slowly, acknowledging the truth in what she is saying.

"You could always dye your hair blonde." Loid stated, looking towards the girl who responded with a blank expression.

"Do you know how long it'd take for us to dye my hair blonde...? From BLACK?" She asked, twirling her dark curls around her finger. "Hmmm... no matter what color we think of doing it's going to be a hassle." She states and then sighs loudly. Loid then puts his hand on her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her, but she flinched hard. He noticed this and pulled his hand away. 'I need to be careful... I don't want to scare the girls away... For Operation Strix to work I need them both to be content with me... Her aversion to physical touch other than Anya is concerning... I won't push her, but I'd like to know what happened to them.' Loid's thoughts put Annie at ease, and she looked over at him, and then at Anya.

"I know dying your hair blonde would be a stretch, so how about pink...?" Loid asked, pointing out that achieving a pink hair color would be much easier than a blonde.

"That could work, but we still need to do a few rounds of bleach to lighten my hair." She pointed out, glancing down at Anya before smiling softly. "What do you think about us matching?" Annie asked, and Anya looked up with stars in her eyes.

"Anya would like to match with big sister Annie!" Anya cheered, hugging onto Annie tightly.

"So that's it, we say that you got your blue eyes from me and your pink hair from your mother? Hmmm..." Loid seemed to think for a second before nodding softly. "That could work... Now to find a mother with pink hair..." Annie ignored the mention of a mother with pink hair, as she knew he will inevitably end up marrying Yor. They walked for awhile, before they walked into an apartment building. Loid lead them to the upstairs, hoping to get in without anyone seeing them, but just at the top an elderly woman couldn't help but stop.

"Oh, what lovely young ladies." She pointed out, and Anya and Annie smiled in response.

"We're the Forgers, we just moved in today." Loid said, taking his hat off and bowing softly in respect.

"I'm Anya, I have always been father's child." Both Loid and Annie made faces while the woman was confused, she then brought her attention to Annie, who had pitch black hair.

"Ah... You don't really look like your father..." The elderly woman said, suspiciously. 'This isn't good, I haven't had a chance to take Annie to a salon...'

"Ah, are you talking about my hair? It's dyed. I'm thinking about going back to my natural color soon." Annie lied through her teeth, surprising both Loid and Anya. This was a great lie, as she was good at it. After all, she had been lying her way through various things ever since Anya and her had escaped the lab.

"Ah! That makes sense, I think you should. The black is beautiful, but nothing is more beautiful than what you actually look like." The woman said before walking off, they then walked into their apartment.

"My home?" Anya asked, peeking into the apartment from around the corner.

"That's right." Loid said, and Anya walked in. "TV!" She exclaimed running over to the TV.

"Turn it on, if you like." Loid said, and Anya did just as Annie walked into the apartment behind them. She smiled as Anya pointed to the TV and told Loid that the show she had turned on 'Spy Wars', was her favorite. Annie chuckled as she looked around, taking in the appearance of the apartment. It was clean, and well taken care of. It was strange, in her last life she had lived in a dump. It was a trailer in a trailer park, that's all her mother could afford. Mostly because her father spent the majority of her mother's money on things like alcohol and drugs.

"This is a nice apartment." Annie pointed out, and walked in and sat on the couch, watching the Spy Wars episode with Anya, she had difficulty following the show, as it was very fast-paced. It was a children's show, after all. Something about a silent pistol. Loid sat across from her, he seemed in a deep thought. Luckily for Annie, she can read minds at will. Most of the time, sometimes she can just randomly hear them. 'I'd better secure all the things I need... Which include forged I.D documents for the girls. But first, we need to dye Annie's hair.'

"I'm stepping out for a bit-" Loid began, but was interrupted when Anya ran over to him and attached herself to his leg, cheerfully saying something about an adventure. Despite Loid's protesting, the girl's end up following him.

"I want a silenced pistol!" Anya declared, skipping cheerfully down the street. Despite just getting the girls, Loid was already beginning to feel tired.

"If we see one on sale..." Loid said, defeated. He had to get those documents soon, but since they were here there was no harm in getting Annie's hair dyed. Loid and Annie stop and begin talking.

"Where is the closest salon? We can start the hair treatments now. It will take a few sessions for my hair to be light enough to be dyed pink though." Loid understood, she did have very dark hair. He nodded while he thought. He wasn't exactly sure where the closest salon was, but he knew that he needed to get her hair done. While Loid was mid-mind speech about staying low, and maintaining the normal appearance of a family, his thoughts are interrupted when Anya cries out.

"Papa!" They look forward, to see Anya caught in the middle of a crowd of people, being shoved around as they rush to their particular destination. "Saavee meee!" Loid facepalms as a woman scoops up Anya, and brings her towards Loid and Annie.

"Come now, dearie. A little girl like you needs to hold her daddy's hand." Loid grabbed Anya's hand, and they began walking again. 'Holding hands will impair my ability to counter an enemy attack.' Anya's face twisted from one with happiness and excitement to one with shock and fear. She let go of Loid's hand and runs forward, hiding underneath a nearby table.

"What're you doing?" Loid asked as Annie and him both approach the table.

"Hiding." Anya stated. 'Did I do something to make her fear me? Was it too soon to hold hands?' Loid thoughts were fully of worry, and Annie just watched as the scene played out. 'This isn't good, I need to stay on good terms with both of the girls until my mission is complete. Oh! I can use basic diplomacy! Understanding the other party is the first step towards peace!' Anya was shocked, understanding her would result in world peace?! She quickly came out from underneath the table.

"Anya likes peanuts! But hates carrots." Anya said proudly, looking up and Loid.

"Hm...? Okay?" Loid asked, but Anya brushed his words off and looked towards the bakery sign that hung behind him.

"Oooh! A bakery! Anya loves muffins, especially if they have peanuts in them!" She said, cheerfully. Annie's stomach dropped, that's not what Anya said in the manga. Annie didn't think she'd be able to change dialogue from inside the story. Is this due to the tutoring she did with Anya? They did some more shopping, and Anya ran up to Loid, holding a Spy Wars poster, and she asked if he could buy it for her. "I don't have enough money... I need a dalc, but I don't have enough." Annie was surprised at how much the dialogue had changed. She hoped wouldn't have long-term affects on the story.

"Did you want anything, Annie?" Loid asked, concerned for the girl who wasn't asking for anything. She seemed far more mature than a fifteen year old girl should be. He couldn't help but wonder what made her this way.

"Ah... No thank you, thanks for offering though." She said, as they walked throughout the marketplace. "Oh! Look at that, there's a salon! We should go there and get my hair bleached." Loid nodded in agreement, and Annie scooped up Anya and walked into the salon. The one the hairdressers walked up and with a cheerful voice began to speak.

"Okay, what's the plan today?" She asked, smiling as she looked at the three people.

"Hi there... I'd like to start a bleaching treatment." Annie said, right when the words left her mouth the hairdressers face fell. 'Hopefully she won't flip out on me about the other treatments I'll have to do-' The hairdresser's thoughts were interrupted when Annie spoke up. "I know it will take a few different treatments to get my hair the right shade. I don't want to go completely blonde though; I just want it light enough to dye pink." Despite this still being a massive ask, it was better than the girl asking to go completely platinum blonde, so the hairdresser was relieved. She lead Annie to a seat and began to get started. Anya and Loid went off to do some stuff while they waited for her treatment to be finished. Towards the end of the last treatment, Loid and Anya came back in. Anya was tired, and was napping. The day must've tired her out. It isn't surprising, she is a little girl. Loid wrote up a check, and they left. As they did, the hairdresser reminded her to take a shower after the time limit was up.

On the way back to the apartment, everything was very silent. Since Anya was asleep, there wasn't a whole lot of talking going on. They stayed silent until Annie finally spoke up.

"Since Anya's asleep, I feel like I can finally tell you this." Loid turned, curious about what Annie was going to say. "I'm assuming you're going to want to enroll us into school, and in order to do that, Anya will have to study for the test." Loid nodded, her explanation about assuming was enough for Loid, and he listened as she continued speaking. "Anya has trauma with that word. I can't exactly say what happened, but if you want her to learn, it'll be better to use a different word. I used tutoring when I taught her things in the orphanage." This made since, no wonder Anya was so intelligent compared to the other children, she had an older child teaching her. He took note of what Annie had said, and they went home. Annie took a shower to rinse out any potentially remaining bleach. And they all turned in for the night.
