Daring to Dance
Anything For the Birthday Boy
Triton had great distaste for legs. Only his own. He did find Percy's legs somewhat appealing. They were long and sleek, the same as his tail, and he moved them so elegantly. Triton however...
"Stop glaring, Tri," Percy grinned amused as he took his consort's hand.
Ever since Percy had accepted godhood after the Giant War, the two of them had grown closer. Becoming friends and slowly falling for each other, until Triton started courting Percy. Now, the young god of hippocampi was the royal consort of the king of Atlantis. While they spent most of their time under the sea, in Atlantis as the much beloved royal couple, Percy still had been a human once and he loved visiting the demigod camps as well as Olympus.
"No. You made me wear legs," Triton glared down at his legs. "You know I dislike them."
"Well, you never mind my legs," Percy grinned mischievously at his husband. "And I want to use them. With my husband. Come on, I requested this song from the muses."
Poseidon was throwing a huge – truly ridiculously huge – party for Percy's 100th birthday on Olympus, with all the gods attending. The muses and Apollo provided the music, Demeter and Hestia had made a delicious feast, Dionysus had brought the wine. The light flush on Percy's cheeks indicated the wine he had in too. The flush was accompanied with a light laugh, the kind that made his eyes sparkle so beautifully and made it impossible for Triton to be grumpy. A feast no one had thought possible just a century ago; the merman king was well-known for his grumpiness. But his beautiful mate with his silly snark and cheerful demeanor melted all of that away.
"Very well, but if I step on your toes, that is entirely on you," warned Triton.
He smiled at his husband and took the offered hand. The look on Percy's face changed into something more gentle and amused as he adjusted them, leading Triton onto the dance-floor.
"I can't believe we have been married for sixty years and I still haven't taught you how to dance," whispered Percy teasingly, leading the dance. "Just follow my lead, mh."
"I know how to dance. Under the sea," Triton glared a bit. "Where bodies can flow naturally in the water, unlike here. Movement requires so much... focus..."
"No, it doesn't," Percy chuckled. "Just follow the music and me. Relax, flow with me. Let me be the current carrying you, my king. And don't focus on how you move."
Triton grumbled, he preferred to be in charge – and Percy preferred him in charge too. Though this dancing was quite... nice. Once he listened to his mate. He smiled as he stole a kiss.
"Happy birthday, Perseus," whispered Triton. "Next year, we go somewhere under water."
