For decades the world has been protected by heroes with the power of dinosaurs.
Cheering filled the air, the hastily constructed stadium packed with Earthlings and Youkaliens eagerly waiting for the spectacle to resume.
For decades the world has been protected by heroes with the power of ninjas.
"… And with the break over, it looks like we're going into overtime, folks! Sudden death!" Bae shouted enthusiastically as Video Camera Marrsk filmed him. "Whoever scores the next point, wins the game! That is to say, this round of the overall competition between the Diningers and the Youkaliens, not the competition overall."
"I think everyone knows that, boss," the cameraman commented.
"It pays to be specific!" Bae snapped.
But now the time has come for a team with the power of BOTH to save the day!
The starting gong rang, and a ball resembling a spherical yin-yang was fired into the stadium from a cannon mounted on a flying skiff, inciting both teams into action.
DI-NIN-NIN, DI-NIN-DI-NINGER! DI-NIN-NIN, DI-NIN-DI-NINGER!
DI-NIN-NIN, DI-NIN-DI-NINGER! DI-NIN-NIN, DI-NIN-DI-NINGER!
Sora shot into the air, flipping upside down to kick the ball towards the ground. However, a gunshot rang out and the ball was blasted away from his foot an instant before he could hit it.
Tengun grinned, twirling her guns. "Not this time, Sora!"
Sora drew his bow and fired an arrow in her direction. "I'm not worried, the others can take it from here!"
First you see me now you don't, blending into shadow
Couldn't find me even if I was twenty stories tall
An unlikely connection between two worlds far apart
Sworn that any enemy of Earth shall fall
As the two aerial combatants resumed their duel, Mozu bound into the air, caught the ball, and started using her incredible speed to zigzag across the playing field, cherry blossoms flying in her wake as she expertly evaded all the hidden traps planted all over the stadium as she raced towards the goal.
Suddenly, a wall of icicles sprang up right in front of her, and she was only barely able to skid to a halt before she could slam into it. More ice walls sprang up on every side of her, hemming her in, and the Kisei sisters appeared atop the highest peaks in a burst of snowflakes. "Sorry, Mozu, but this is as far as you get!" Yukinojo shouted down at her.
"We'll be taking that ball!" Setpen said, snapping her fingers, causing icicles to form in the air and start raining down on the pink ninja.
"If you insist!" Mozu said, using her powerful legs to kick the ball directly towards Yukinojo, who flinched. Setpen reflexively formed an ice shield to protect her sister, causing the ball to rebound off of it and slam into her face, cracking her helmet. She gasped and quickly put a hand to the crack to freeze it before she lost too much atmosphere, and while she was distracted Mozu jumped back into the air and hit the ball with a bicycle kick, flinging it out of the ice enclosure.
The enemies we thought we'd face are not what they seem
Though it's still a fight we intend to win
But any challenge we slash and bite our ways through
With that said let the games begin
"I got it!" Kenji cried, leaping into the air.
"No, I got it!" Asteroibotchi shouted, a claw flying through the air to grab the ball and pull it back towards his body.
"Not anymore!" Jiro charged into the rock monster with her shield, smashing him to pieces and causing his hand to let go of the ball. "Hurry, before he reforms!" She said, stomping on the Youkalien's head, making it difficult for him to concentrate on repairing himself.
Kenji nodded, dashed forwards, and kicked the ball across the field.

Akira intercepted the ball and raced down the field towards the goal. Unlike Mozu, she didn't bother dodging the traps, her red and gold dinpo blazing around her as she charged through every obstacle in her path, smashing any barriers and walls she encountered with her Tyrant Fang and seeming unaffected by any explosions or pillars of flame or electricity she set off.
Jani, wearing her full power armor, lunged at Akira from the side, grabbing onto her leg. "Akira!" She cried. "You won't win this time! We will have a proper, honorable showdown this time and wait are you even listening to me?!"
Akira, not even seeming to notice the gremlin's weight, kicked the ball towards the goal as hard as she could, nearly dislodging the screaming Jani. The ball burst into flames as it streaked through the air, and the goalkeeper, a Kappa-themed Youkalien named Sangan, took a deep breath and clapped his hands together, causing a green energy shield shaped like a turtle shell to form in front of him. The ball smashed into the shell, cracks splintering out in every direction. He sweated nervously, struggling to keep his concentration with the screaming fireball only a few inches away from him. More and more cracks formed, and it looked as if the barrier would collapse at any second…
And then, to everyone's astonishment, the ball ricocheted off the shield, flying across the field. "What?!" Sangan exclaimed.
"What?!" the Diningers gasped.
"WHAT?!" Bae shrieked.
"What?" Akira whispered, stunned.
With the soul and fury of a dinosaur
Thunderous rampage, charge up and hear me roar
Hide in shadows, then storm out and slash the light
Brace the steel blade and shuriken, go and fight
Silent and deadly but with the force of a hurricane
Let the Dinpo inside burst out and break your chains
Let the magma of the earth erupt beneath our feet
Shinobiryu, rise up and don't accept defeat
Sora was so astonished that he didn't react in time as the ball shot past him. Tengun, however, did, swooping down and kicking the ball towards the Diningers' goal. Kenji and Jiro both leapt up to intercept it, only to be bombarded by asteroids and ice shards from Asteroibotchi and the Kisei sisters, and the ball slipped through their fingers.
Mozu's kusarigama shot out to try and catch the ball, only for her chained blade to be blasted away by a shot from Tengun just before Sora put an arrow in her back. Unfortunately, the ball kept going…
And got intercepted by a headbutt from Tetsu, guarding his team's goal, flinging the ball back across the field, much to the joy of the Earthlings and the disappointment of the Youkaliens.

"Akira, what happened?" Mozu asked in concern, racing over to her lover. "That kick should've pierced his defenses!"
"I…" Akira stared at her hands, her dinpo flickering, the gold she'd been getting accustomed to fading to be replaced by the red she'd known all her life. "I don't… I don't know."
"Whatever it is, can it wait? We have to keep our heads in the game if we're going to win this!" Kenji said, jogging over.
"… Don't worry. It'll be fine," Akira said.
Mozu immediately knew she was lying.
Our opponents came from beyond the stars
But like us just fight for what they truly believe in
I don't want to call them our enemies
But out there still exists a true demon
"The heck was that?" Bae murmured. "Sangan's shield is strong, but there's no way it could have held up to a kick from Akira, especially now that she's getting more used to her golden power."
"Maybe she's having an off day?" Video Camera Marrsk suggested.
Bae frowned, observing how shaken up Akira seemed to be. "… Maybe."
We fight to protect our world from harm
But whom fights to change the world for the better
Mother Earth still needs our help even when the fight is done
So we best keep going so we won't upset her
"How odd. I wonder what's wrong with Akira?" Nyajou, watching from the Royal booth, wondered.
"I hope she'll be okay," Kyuhime said in concern.
"I mean, if she's not and we win because of it, that would be good too," Nyahime pointed out.
"Yeah, but it hardly seems fair," Kyuhime countered.
"We haven't won in a while, and if we lose too much, we'll never get this planet! Right, mommy?" Nyahime asked her mother.
Kyukogo said nothing, lost in thought. It didn't even look like she was watching the game.
"Mommy?"
"… Would that really be a bad thing?" The Hegemon murmured, so softly only her wife heard her. Nyajou shot her a shocked look.

Both Tengun and Sora dove at the ball at the same time as it arced through the air. As they drew closer, they both pointed their weapons at each other and fired…
But at the last second Sora pointed his bow at the ball, shooting it instead, grunting as energy bullets raked his chest, but grinning to himself as his arrow struck the ball and flung it at a different angle just before Tengun could catch it, causing her to curse in frustration.

Kenji leapt up to grab the ball, only for Asteroibotchi to fling a claw through the air and once again grab the ball before he could catch it. "You really should be wise to that trick by now!" He taunted as it returned to his arm.
"And you know what you should be wise to?"
The rock monster's eyes widened in horror as Jiro appeared before him, drawing back a fist pulsing with green dinpo. "That Ankylosaurus ninjas are really good at rock breaking!"
She drove her fist into his chest with a punch so powerful it rendered his entire body to dust, his head flying through the air and bouncing off the ground several times, grunting in pain with each impact. "Ugh… You've gotten stronger… And I just finished regenerating my body, too!"
"Couldn't have done it without my boyfriend!" Jiro said, flexing her muscles and winking at Tetsu, who blushed under his mask.
"Impressive… But I still get the last laugh!" Asteroibotchi laughed, and Jiro and Kenji cursed when they realized the hand carrying the ball had survived and was flying away.

There was a flash of pink, and suddenly the hand shattered, the ball landing in Mozu's hand. "Or not."
Asteroibotchi cursed.
Unfortunately, Mozu's victory was short-lived, as a massive ice dome suddenly formed over her, trapping her with the Kisei sisters.
"I wish we didn't have to fight!"
"I must do what I think is right."
"You know it sounds a bit insane."
"I can make things better with my reign."
"You're not like those whom came before."
"And I think to you is also something more."
"I suddenly don't feel quite so sound."
"I wish we could reach that middle ground."
"Just hand over the ball, Mozu," Yukinojo said. "Neither of us want to hurt you."
"We love you too much for that," Setpen added.
"Don't worry, you won't," Mozu tensed, gripping the ball.
The sisters frowned, concerned. "… What's going on, Mozu? You've been giving us the cold shoulder for weeks. No pun intended," Yukinojo said.
Mozu hesitated. "… You guys are our enemies."
"What of it?" Setpen asked.
"I… I just think it's something we need to keep in mind more," Mozu said uncomfortably.
"Mozu… We may be on opposite sides, but that doesn't mean we can't still be friends and more outside of this… Does it?" Yukinojo asked, worried.
Mozu couldn't meet her eyes. "… I…"

Suddenly, part of the ice shattered as Kenji drilled through it, flying through the air like a spinning torpedo, having been flung by Jiro from outside. The sisters yelped and dove to the side as Kenji shot past, snatching the ball from Mozu's hands as he went before breaking through the other side of the dome.
Mozu started to go after him, only for a cold hand to wrap around her wrist "Mozu, wait-"
"I don't have time for this," Mozu snapped, immediately regretting it when Yukinojo flinched back, a hurt look on her face. "We have a game to decide the fate of the world to win."
"… Mozu, is this really how you feel?" Setpen asked. "Is this how you want things to be with us, going forward?" She frowned. "How much of this is you… And how much is Akira?"
Mozu didn't respond.
"Mozu, is Akira all right?"
"… I don't know."

Kenji came out of his spin several meters away from the exterior of the dome and started sprinting towards the goal. Unfortunately, he didn't get very far before Jani rather suddenly lunged at his face, blinding him and screaming at the top of her lungs as she started stabbing at him repeatedly. "DIE! DIE! DIE!"
"Ack! Get off – OOF!" Kenji grunted as Asteroibotchi's head slammed into his gut, causing him to fling the ball away.
"Revenge!" The severed head shouted triumphantly.
"I'm not even the one who destroyed your body this time!" Kenji yelled.
"I'll take what I can get!"

As the ball rose into the air, Tengun swooped down to catch it, only for Sora to tackle her. As they tumbled towards the ground, the bird woman managed to aim one of her guns at the ball and fire, only for Jiro's shield to spin through the air and deflect the shot.
Akira, who had been riding on top of the shield, leapt off, grabbed the ball, and flipped through the air, backlit by the sun and causing Sangan to flinch, unable to make her out through the sunlight. Eyes watering, he thought he saw something straight towards him. He immediately raised his shield to protect himself…
And yelped when Akira's Tyrant Fang slammed into it, the point smashing through his barrier and making it a few inches through. His eyes widened in dismay and got a lot wider when Akira suddenly landed a kick to the hilt of her sword, causing the barrier to shatter as the blade went all the way through and slammed into his chest, his thick shell cracking from the force of the impact and flinging him onto his back.
Akira retrieved her sword and threw the ball into the goal behind Sangan while he was wobbling helplessly on his back.
SHINOBIRYU SENTAI DIN-NIN-GER!
A horn sounded throughout the arena as a large hologram of the Diningers with the word WIN under them materialized above the field, fireworks going off.
"The Diningers win the game! This round goes to them!" Bix shouted as a holographic scoreboard appeared over the skiff she and Shinza were riding in, the Diningers' point total going up significantly, giving them an even greater lead over the Youkaliens.
"YES!" Bae shouted along with all the Earthlings in attendance or watching around the world while the Youkalien spectators groaned.
"Aww, we lost again!" Kyuhime complained.
"So lame," Nyahime whined, hugging Usatan.
Kyukogo sighed. "Perhaps it's for the best…"
Nyajou gasped. "Darling?!"
Kyukogo grimaced and looked away.
"Hey, uh, congratulations on winning, but can you help me up?"
Akira blinked and looked down at Sangan, who was still wobbling helplessly on his back. She hesitated for a minute, then extended a hand and helped him up.
"Hey, thanks! It's weird how you hesitated for a second there, I wasn't sure you were actually going to help me, which would be totally out of character for you, right? At least, from what I've heard," the Kappa said in relief. His shell looked like it had been made from a flying saucer with holes for his arms, legs, tail, and head and a pair of thrusters resembling cucumbers. He was wearing a sumo belt designating he was of the Makushita rank, wore a string of glowing orbs for a necklace, had a metal beak, and a transparent dome on top of his head through which a miniature marsh complete with very tiny frogs and insects could be seen hopping around.
"… Yeah," Akira said slowly.
"Whew! That was pretty close," Tengun remarked as she landed, wiping away some sweat. "Good match, Sora! You've gotten better since last time. If we had a rematch, I bet you'd win for sure this time!"
"That's possible, yes," Sora said. He smirked. "And by possible, I mean almost certain."
"Sorry for destroying your body completely," Jiro apologetically told Asteroibotchi, whose head was being carried by Jani.
"Yes, well, it couldn't be helped," the disembodied head said with a sigh. "Guess I'm on medical leave… Again. You'd better watch out, though, because my next body will be even tougher!"
Jiro chuckled. "Yeah, we'll see about that."
Tetsu nodded. "She'll be training even more. At the rate she's going, she should be able to shatter mountains with a single finger."
"He's exaggerating," Jiro assured the concerned Asteroibotchi.
"Not by that much," Tetsu insisted.
"You've gotten a lot stronger since that time you got turned into an ankylosaurus, Jiro," Kenji agreed. "Your dinpo has matured significantly. You don't even need a dinpo booster anymore!"
Jiro guiltily looked at Kenji's wrist, where his own booster was still gleaming. "… Sorry the same hasn't happened to you yet."
"Hey, it's not a big deal," Kenji insisted. "I mean, yeah, it is kind of annoying, but hey, at least I got a girlfriend out of it!"
"You and Cera make a cute couple," Tetsu agreed.
"Not as cute as Petra and myself, of course," Sora said humbly.
Tengun sighed wistfully. "She's a lucky woman…"
"Um. Akira?" Mozu asked her leader and girlfriend hesitantly. "I… Yukinojo and Setpen invited me over because they want to talk, and I've… We've been kind of avoiding them for a while, so…"
"… You can see them if you want," Akira said after a moment.
"I can?" Mozu asked hopefully.
"If that's what you want. Just… Remember. They're not…" Akira trailed off, then shook her head. "It doesn't matter. Do whatever you want."
Mozu frowned, worried by this response.
"Excuse me? Lady Tyruga?"
"Hmm?" Akira glanced up, seeing a rather pretty kuroko approach. "What is it?"
The kuroko bowed her head. "My mistress the Hegemon kindly requests you come visit her in the Royal booth. There is something she would like to discuss with you."
"No."
The kuroko gave her a startled look. "I'm sorry?"
"If she wants to talk to me so badly, she can do it herself," Akira said curtly, turning her back on the kuroko. "I'm not one of her slaves. I don't dance to her tune. And if she wants to try to buy my forgiveness by offering you or some other slave girl, it won't work."
"I… See. I'll tell her that," the kuroko murmured, giving her a confused and worried look before bowing and backing away.
"What?" Akira asked sharply, noticing the others were looking at her with concern.
"You've been acting differently as far as Kyukogo is concerned ever since the festival," Kenji noted. "What's going on?"
"Before, you'd never turn down the chance to talk with her, or accept one of her 'gifts,'" Sora agreed.
Akira clenched her teeth slightly. "She's the leader of the group trying to invade and conquer us. She's our enemy. I let myself forget that, that's all."
Tetsu frowned. "Is that really how you feel, though? That she's nothing but our enemy?"
"It's how I have to feel," Akira said, though it was clear she didn't entirely believe it. "Until we beat her, that's all we can ever be."
"Akira…" Mozu murmured softly.
"So… Does anyone else feel like we're intruding?" Sangan whispered to his teammates rather loudly.
They all nodded.
"Makes for good drama, though," Jani commented.
They all nodded again.
"I'm sorry, Your Divinity, but she turned down your invitation," the kuroko said a few minutes later as she returned the Royal booth. "She said if you wanted to speak to her, you should do it yourself."
"She's not wrong," Nyajou commented, noticing how unhappy her wife looked at this. "If you really want to make things right with her, maybe you should take the first step."
"I'm not sure she wants to make things right at this point," the Hegemon said, melancholy. "I'm not even sure they can be made right anymore."
"My love… You aren't the only one who misses Justine," Nyajou said, startling Kyukogo.
"I-"
"But at least Akira is still here," Nyajou said, nodding down at the field, where Akira was pointedly not glancing up at them. "Do you really want her to slip through your fingers as well? Without saying what needs to be said?"
Kyukogo hesitated, seeing the expectant, hopeful looks of her family. "Perhaps… Perhaps I should – ah!"
"Darling?" Nyajou asked in concern as Kyukogo massaged her forehead.
"Sudden migraine… Wait…" Kyukogo's eyes widened in alarm. "But that means-"
There was a commotion at the edge of the booth. "Sir, please return to your seat, you can't be here," an Uchuhage told an angry-looking man trying to force his way past the security around the Royal family.
"You can't be here! None of you should be! You don't belong here! Go back to your galaxy!" The man shouted, froth lucking from his lips.
A massive shadow loomed over him as Onimusha approached. "Human, leave here at once. If you continue making trouble, we're going to have to detain you."
"Oh, and enslave me like you want to do to the rest of my people? I'd rather die!" The man shouted.
Onimusha sighed wearily. "Sir, please-"
"In fact, I think I will!"
Onimusha blinked. "Wait, what?"
The ogre's eye widened in horror as the man tore open his jacket, revealing he was wearing an explosive vest. "For the glory of Bakano!" He shouted, raising a hand in the air and preparing to press the detonator.
