Elena added Star of Bethlehems to the crowns as Antonio came rushing in. The girls backed off so that he could have Bruno to himself. Then he beelined for Dolores and Mirabel, both of whom picked him up and held him with his legs dangling. Then to Regulus' shock, he rushed towards him and squashed him into a very tight, but brief hug that he had no time to think to reciprocate.
You're so kind
Antonio came out with a banger as he uttered his first lyric, his brown gaze sweeping over every person. Bruno gave him a proud smile because the lyric was applicable to everyone in the room, in his opinion.
Regulus smiled genuinely as he thought of Anastasia practically begging him to come play and how she insisted on that he be the one to do so. He also remembered Belle's insistence that he eat to heal his fingers, as well as the crushing hug he had just received. Then how he conceded to play and how he has been putting up with the physical affection peacefully.
That you protected her and left the family behind
It wasn't out of kindness. It was out of love and self-given duty. He would do it for any of his sobrinos. They were his purpose in life. Though, he did admit to himself that Mirabel was his favourite and anyone with eyes could tell. He wasn't a subtle person.
For Regulus, he had left the Death Eaters due to the knowledge he had gained from his former master, but he did have his family in mind as he left. He had planned on taking the secret to the grave to allow the remnants of his family to live even if he and Sirius were the last to carry the surname of Black.
But if they don't understand in their mind
Then we think that they might be blind
Metaphorically, yes. People would have to be incredibly bull-headed to not see Bruno's kindness. Even Regulus could see that it was genuine and he was cynical of most people.
Moreover, Bruno couldn't help but laugh because he could tell that Regulus agreed with everyone on this lyric, but he was blind to the good and speciality within himself. Anything good that he ever performed wasn't for others, it was for himself, his independence, his pride, and his peace of mind. His performances were for him to escape his past and any benefits the audiences received were a positive by-product.
And deserve to be in a temporary bind
"I could do that," offered Regulus. "They wouldn't be able to harm anyone." Bruno shook his head.
"Not with a good conscience." It was Regulus' turn to shake his head.
"You really are kind."
"It's not for kindness; it's the right thing to do."
To allow you to rewind
"My one act of selfishness is that I use you all as a barrier if I want to be left alone," Bruno said. Regulus subtly rolled his eyes. Bruno did all that he did, not for himself, but for the good of the family and the Encanto.
Regulus shrugged as he thought about how he really isn't selfless. He wanted to follow his parents' wishes because he wanted to and that it would keep himself safe. Then when he figured out the Dark Lord's secret, he wanted to defeat him for himself, and that he still wanted his brother's approval like he had before they were torn apart.
But neither of them could rewind with the stifling expectations they had been subjected to in their lives. Their likes and dislikes were brushed aside until they were left with what was expected of them: prophecies and the puppet of a harsh master.
We promise to remind
Them that they may find
That they could be struck down by a mastermind
Regulus cringed. He didn't want to know what Sirius would do to the people who have hurt his godson. He was mildly jealous that he wasn't under his brother's protection, nor could he protect his brother.
Bruno thought of all the ingenious things his familia had come up with in retaliation for the things the villagers had done. Was it a good thing? No, but in their minds, they'd done enough to warrant some backlash. At least, now, no one had perfect reputations.
