Biography:
Oh! But he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster. The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shrivelled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice. A frosty rime was on his head, and on his eyebrows, and his wiry chin. He carried his own low temperature always about with him; he iced his office in the dog-days; and didn't thaw it one degree at Christmas.
Yet he was visited by four warning spirits that changed his life for the better. In the amoral times of Victorian England, this cruel and selfish old man underwent enough purifying, he could count as a Heroic Spirit.
Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did not die, he was a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world. Some people laughed to see the alteration in him, but he let them laugh, and little heeded them; for he was wise enough to know that nothing ever happened on this globe, for good, at which some people did not have their fill of laughter in the outset; and knowing that such as these would be blind anyway, he thought it quite as well that they should wrinkle up their eyes in grins, as have the malady in less attractive forms. His own heart laughed: and that was quite enough for him.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance: A
A Skill that grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
Rider faced the ghost of his likewise miser old business partner and three spirits embodying temporal aspects of Christmas. They favored him with a second chance very few humans have been granted, and blessed him to become a better man. He thus has endurance against most spells, especially those of evil, unholy origin. The rank rises to EX during Christmas.
Rider is still weak to church exorcism and sacraments.
Riding: D
Rider flies around on his old bed. He can ride average animals like horses or even camels, and he can drive automobiles and other four wheeled vehicles, but he has no mastery over flying machines or boats. Oddly, thanks to his Christmas links, he is very capable of riding reindeers.
Rider cannot ride dragons or phantasmal beasts.
Personal Skills:
Golden Rule: C
A Skill that refers to the measurement of one's fortune to acquire wealth.
Rider was a very rich man who amassed a fortune in his lifetime.
The rank is lowered from how tight-fisted and avaricious Rider was for most of his life. Even so, the Master will be provided for and as long as Rider is with them, the Master's table will never lack food.
Clairvoyance: C
Thanks to the spirits letting him see into his past, present and future, Rider has limited insight on events from those three time periods. He can see far into the distance to analyze events that are happening at the time, or gather info from the past, as long as said events took place in sites where he has been at least once.
Rider only can see future events if he takes part on them himself. This does not mean that the future cannot be altered.
Christmas Spirit: A
Rider became a popular embodiment of the Christmas values of generosity and improving as a human being. He has a rank of Christmas just below those of the Santa Heroic Spirits.
During Christmas, his resolve increases tenfold. Formerly unthinkable feats become feasible as 'Christmas miracles'. He also gains a + bonus on all his stats if he is fighting to protect children or his dreams.
Sometimes, when under stress or disillusion, his good spirits may falter and a glimpse of his old bitter self can be seen.
Ice Kingdom: A
He carried his own low temperature always about with him; he iced his office in the dog-days, and didn't thaw it one degree at Christmas. External heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge. No warmth could warm, not wintry weather chill him. No wind that blew was bitterer than he, no falling snow was more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty. Foul weather didn't know where to have him.
Ice and snow based attacks have no effect on Rider. Even though he cannot control weather or shows cryokinesis, the temperature around him descends and it can lower the HPs and vitality of cold-weak Servants in his vicinity.
The skill is kept despite his alignment's shift to Lawful Good.
Noble Phantasms:
Ghost of Christmas Past: A
The first of three spirits Rider can summon.
It was a strange figure—like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man, viewed through some supernatural medium, which gave him the appearance of having receded from the view, and being diminished to a child's proportions. Its hair, which hung about its neck and down its back, was white as if with age; and yet the face had not a wrinkle in it, and the tenderest bloom was on the skin. The arms were very long and muscular; the hands the same, as if its hold were of uncommon strength. Its legs and feet, most delicately formed, were, like those upper members, bare. It wore a tunic of the purest white; and round its waist was bound a lustrous belt, the sheen of which was beautiful. It held a branch of fresh green holly in its hand; and, in singular contradiction of that wintry emblem, had its dress trimmed with summer flowers. But the strangest thing about it was, that from the crown of its head there sprung a bright clear jet of light, by which all this was visible; and which was doubtless the occasion of its using, in its duller moments, a great extinguisher for a cap, which it now held under its arm.
It is very weak as an attack summon, but it can heal allies and Rider himself, gently and back to full health. Soft spoken and good-hearted, its presence lifts the morals of a party and increases Bravery.
Ghost of Christmas Present: A
The second of three spirits Rider can summon.
It was clothed in one simple green robe, or mantle, bordered with white fur. This garment hung so loosely on the figure, that its capacious breast was bare, as if disdaining to be warded or concealed by any artifice. Its feet, observable beneath the ample folds of the garment, were also bare; and on its head it wore no other covering than a holly wreath, set here and there with shining icicles. Its dark brown curls were long and free; free as its genial face, its sparkling eye, its open hand, its cheery voice, its unconstrained demeanour, and its joyful air. Girded round its middle was an antique scabbard; but no sword was in it, and the ancient sheath was eaten up with rust.
A merry giant of wild hair, carrying a torch. Two horrible inhuman creatures live under his coat. They can jump on the enemy and claw and bite at them at a word from the Ghost. The Ghost also can use his torch to burn everything around him.
Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come: B
The third of three spirits Rider can summon.
As the last stroke ceased to vibrate, he remembered the prediction of old Jacob Marley, and lifting up his eyes, beheld a solemn Phantom, draped and hooded, coming, like a mist along the ground, towards him.
It has a touch of death that drains energy from enemy Servants, should they be reached and touched. It never talks, moving in a relentless and tireless way. It cannot be scared or even hurt; to dispell it one has to attack Rider instead.
Summon: "Merry Christmas! Isn't it Christmas today? Every day is Christmas in a willing heart! I'm Servant Rider! Please don't be disappointed in this old man. I will be under your care, just like you will be under mine!"
Start of Battle:
"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach."
"And what can I do for you gentlemen?"
"Oh, what a wonderful day."
"Oh, there's so much to do! Oh yes, there's so much to do!"
Attack:
"Season Greetings!"
"Oh ho ho!"
"Change! Or else...!"
"I don't understand you!"
Damage:
"Youth these days!"
"I deserved that!"
"I'm losing my patience!"
"I'll bury you in the sea!"
Victory:
"God bless us, every one!"
"I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a schoolboy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!"
"Spirit! Remove me from this place."
Defeat:
"Oh cold, cold, rigid, dreadful Death, set up thine altar here, and dress it with such terrors as thou hast at thy command: for this is thy dominion! But of the loved, revered, and honored head, thou canst not turn one hair to thy dread purposes, or make one feature odious."
"I don't know what to do!"
"I've made a few mistakes. I gotta live with that."
"How shall I ever understand this world?"
Defeat by Noble Phantasm: "Bah! Humbug!"
Noble Phantasm Activation:
"Who are you? Oh, yes. You are the spirit whose coming was foretold to me."
"Please, let me go! Don't eat me! Oh, that is right. You are the Ghost of Christmas Present."
"I am prepared to bear you company, and do it with a thankful heart. Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come."
Extra Dialogue:
"Take the season seriously! I'm ashamed of you, cover yourself, you... you harlot!" (When you have Ruler Santa Samba Quetzalcoatl).
"What, what is the meaning of this!?"(When you have Archer Santa Altera).
"Now this is better! Come forth, little one, let us spread the cheer!" (When you have Lancer Santa Jeanne Alter Lily).
"Aren't you cold? Master, shame on you! How long has this child been under your care? Pants are a priority! What example are you setting?" (When you have Assassin Jack the Ripper).
"She looks at me strangely. As if with a mixture of dread and admiration. I wonder why..." (When you have Caster Nursery Rhyme).
Birthday: "Happy Birthday! I'll pay the chefs of the place for the very best feat they may cook!"
Event: "Ah. I am reminded of Fred's parties. They could get slightly wild as well, you will see."
Holy Grail: "A wish? How should I know? I don't even know what day of the month it is." There is a sigh. "I don't know how long I have been among the Spirits. I don't know anything. I'm quite a baby. Never mind. I don't care. I'd rather be a baby."
To be Continued.
