"Here's to Fred and George," Lee said, raising his glass. "Congrats on living through another year. Pray it won't be your last."

"Thanks mate," George said as we all clinked glasses together. We were sitting in a booth at the Three Broomsticks where Fred and George had requested we go to celebrate their special day.

I took a sip of my drink and grimaced. "This is butterbeer."

"What did you expect?" Fred asked.

"Firewhisky, of course," I said. "You're all seventeen now. We should be drinking firewhisky, not butterbeer."

"We are drinking firewhisky," Fred said, lifting up his glass and nodding to George and Lee.

I gasped dramatically. "I can't believe you bought firewhisky for yourselves but not me!"

"Nobody move," George said suddenly.

"Why?" Lee asked, a little worriedly.

"I need to take a mental picture. I'm going to need to remember this moment, for this is the moment I finally see Lean's dark side - her rule breaking side."

"Hey!" I exclaimed in defiance when all three boys started to laugh. "If I didn't have a rule breaking side, why do you think I've been helping you with all your pranks these past few weeks?"

"Um... because you love spending time with us?" Fred guessed.

I punched him playfully on the arm. "You are too arrogant for your own good, Weasley."

"Weasley? Ouch!" Fred said, pretending to be offended. "You're really hurting my feelings, Malfoy."

There was an awkward silence.

"Okay... maybe we shouldn't use my surname so casually," I laughed somewhat nervously. That seemed to break whatever barrier we'd created. Fred, George and Lee chuckled in response.

"Actually," Lee said. "We were meaning to talk to you about Malfoy – Draco Malfoy."

"Yes?" I said curiously.

"Not now," Fred hissed across the table.

"What about Draco?" I asked, sending curious glances between the two boys. George had averted his gaze by taking a long sip of his butterbeer.

Lee looked torn for a moment as he stared between the two of us. Then, he sent an apologetical look at Fred before adjusting his position to face me. "We want to play a prank."

I felt my whole body relax. It was just a simple prank, Fred, George and Lee play them all the time. Nothing to worry about...

"Well that's not so bad," I said, directing my words mainly at Fred who was suddenly very focused on his drink in front of him.

"It's going to be great!" Lee said enthusiastically, clearly relieved I wasn't reacting in whatever way Fred had expected me to. "And just wait, it gets better!"

It gets better? Oh no...

"Lee, I beg of you – stop talking," Fred said.

"We've being planning it for months now – pretty much since the selecting of the champions for the Triwizard Tournament. We haven't decided the specifics yet, but it will include your brother and his Slytherin friends wishing they'd spent less time being dicks and more time bowing at our feet. It's going to be epic! Especially if we use your familiarity with Malfoy to personally target him specifically."

"Let me get this straight," I said. "You want me to reveal information about Draco. Things that he told me when we were still like this," I crossed my fingers.

"But think of every crappy thing he's done to us," George protested.

"I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun to make him pay – Merlin knows he deserves it after everything he's done to you and your family, but he's still my brother, and—" I cut off, the truth suddenly hitting me. Lee had mentioned they'd had the idea since the champions were chosen for the Triwizard Tournament. That was around the time I'd started spending time with them...

Hoping I was just being paranoid, I spoke. "Did you only invite me out tonight thinking I would have to oblige you by betraying my brother's trust?"

"No, of course not, Lean," Fred tried to reassure.

"How do I know that's the truth and not just another lie?" I spat.

"I've never lied to you."

"So all those times you've said you wanted to hang weren't just excuse to get close to me. All so that, in the future, I might consider helping you pull your stupid prank." George and Lee gasped dramatically at my words but Fred looked too hurt to react.

"Of course not," he said sadly. "I really just wanted to spend time with you, Lean. Maybe at first, I was blinded by who your family was, but once I got to know you for Lean and not Leaena Malfoy, I realised you're a pretty cool person."

"But I am Leaena Malfoy," I argued, jabbing my finger in my chest.

"I know that!"

"Which is why you're using me to get to Draco."

"Malfoy has nothing to do with this!"

"He has everything to do with this! Otherwise, we wouldn't be having this stupid argument!" People were now starting to turn their heads in our direction. I stood up abruptly, glad I was sitting on the aisle side of the booth. "I'm tired. Thanks for the drinks."

Fred, who was also sitting on the aisle, stood up to and followed me out of the Three Broomsticks. "Lean," he called after me. "Lean, I'm sorry. Just please come back and we can have a mature conversation."

I scoffed, still walking away. "When have you ever had a mature conversation, Fred?"

"I can be mature," he insisted, the increasing volume of his voice telling me he was only a few steps behind me. "Just please, give me a chance?"

I stopped and turned around to face Fred who stumbled a little at my sudden halt. But instead of forgiving him, or yelling at him, or hearing him out, I just turned to a group of wizards and witches walking along the street and yelled, "Help! This man is bothering me."

Fred sent me a pained expression before he was confronted by the group of strangers. While he urgently tried to explain the situation, I quickly turned on my heels in the direction of Honeydukes and the secret passageway that would take me back to my much desired, warm and cosy bed.

Honeydukes was unlocked – just as we'd left it – so I had no trouble sneaking into the deserted shop. I hesitated only a second before locking the door behind me. I knew between Fred, George and Lee, one of them ought to know some Muggle trick to open the door. But it could take some time, time I needed to escape up to my dorm to avoid confrontation.

I found the passageway in the cellar with a little difficulty, making me glad I'd locked the shop's door behind me. But once I found the trapdoor, the long walk back to the castle was easy. Actually, I only walked for a bit before deciding that if the others had acted quickly, they might already be breaking into Honeydukes. With that thought on my mind, I quickly picked up speed, jogging the entire way back to the castle.

At last, the dark earth tunnel came to an end. Hoping Filch or his beloved cat weren't standing near, I quickly hoisted myself out of the witch's humped back, crouching behind the statue while I listened for the sound of footsteps.

I sighed in relief when all I could hear was the sound of my own ragged breathing. I stood up and walked out from behind the statue, looking up and down the corridor to double check. Getting a detention for sneaking out after curfew was the last thing I wanted right now. I hurried over to the staircase leading up to Gryffindor tower, but had only taken a few steps when the sound of my name caused me to stop in my tracks.

Someone was behind me.
