Authors Notes:
I'm rewriting this story! Yay! Honestly the first version was awful and I feel like it can be improved. It is going to change significantly and I hope I exceed my expectations.
Again the characters do not belong to me however the plot and the story do so please don't use my ideas.
If there was one thing that the young woman was certain of, it was that she was feared. It wasn't the kind of fear that everyone trembled at her mercy and realized how powerful she was. No. They feared her because she was different and because everywhere she walked bad luck seemed to follow.
For most of her childhood she hid behind her nanny, her mother and father neglecting her completely instead focusing all of their attention on their perfect first born, who would soon marry into royalty and become empress. She hated her sister who only seemed to thrive off the fact that she was favored and that her younger sister only existed to be in her shadow.
So when her sister turned 18, ready to take her vows with the emperor of their kingdom she was murdered by the neighboring planet who they had an ongoing war with. Killing her sister and the current emperor signified that their planet was conquered and a new reign would take over. The young woman instead of feeling sadness for her deceased sister only found joy in her death and the misery of her parents. Their precious treasure was murdered by the same enemy they cursed at. It was too good to be true, she often thought.
However when the young woman turned sixteen, the new emperor of their planet, took interest in the young woman. Suddenly the young woman was pampered by her parents and all the love she craved when she was younger was suddenly given to her. In about two weeks she would be the wife of Noah the conqueror of their planet and it made her sick. Her anger seemed to grow as each day passed to the point where her whole body burned. She needed a way out, and fast.
She heard of a prized jewel called the Adonis that could take her anywhere in the universe without leaving a trace behind. She knew she had to get her hands on it and disappear. For the first week she learned exactly where each guard was stationed and learned their patterns. So when the perfect moment arose she stole it and started making a run for it.
It wasn't long before the whole castle was in an uproar ordering to bring back the Adonis and to kill the young woman on the spot. The young woman feared she had made a mistake and that maybe it would be better off if she just married and became someone's trophy. She had grown tired and collapsed to the ground holding the Adonis close to her chest, wishing she knew how to make it work. She could hear her fiancées men approaching her until they came to a holt.
"Did you think you could run away? You could have become my wife, lived a life of luxury but you stole from me, and that calls for treason. I gave your planet mercy in exchange for a bride and now I will leave it in ashes." She heard Noah hiss.
Her ears rang as the blood rushed to her head and her dark eyes locked with her fiancées, glaring at him. He pulled out his sword bringing it up. "You brought disgrace to your planet." Noah yelled before he swung it down.
Everything seemed to slow down, and the only sound the young woman heard was her own shriek before everything surrounding her was thrown back away from her by a huge pink blast. She turned her head to the side, dust and dirt flying to her face. As the dust began to subsided she stared at her hands which glowed a pink fluorescent color. Her hair came into her vision and she gasped noticing her once long black hair now turned to a light pink. She didnt take the chance to question why that happened she forced herself to get up and make a run for it. She heard the men regain their strength and yell at each other to catch up.
The Adonis that she had stolen began to glow and almost burn against her palms. A pink light appeared a hundred feet away from her, calling to her. She forced her weak limbs to pick up the pace, her mind screaming at her to hurry up or she would be killed on the spot. She heard footsteps closely approaching her and in seconds they would take hold of her.
Hex him. Don't let him get to you! Hex him! The woman's subconscious screamed at her. The woman turned around lifting her right hand up, noticing Noah just mere inches away from her. "I am not going to be caught!" She screamed as a huge light shot from her palm hitting Noah in the chest, sending him flying.
The young woman didn't take the chance to see if he was behind her. As soon as she made it to the pink light she jumped in letting the light engulf her. The Adonis she carried shattered in her palm and she was thrown out of the light. She screamed as she fell and landed on something hard knocking the wind out of her.
She wheezed as she gained to control her breathing, tears prickling in her eyes as she fought with her lungs to take a breath. As soon as she calmed her racing heart she took deep gulfs of air and rolled off the hard thing landing on her side. She screamed as she encountered black lifeless eyes looking back at her, blood oozing out of their eyes, nose and mouth. She crawled away from the body, her hands shaking at the corpse that was inches away from her. She didn't know where she was except that everything was green. It didn't look like a pretty scene, everything looked destroyed, trees ripped from the roots.
"Vell what do we have here? A puny little girl?"a woman's voice hissed.
The young woman turned to see a rather tall woman approach her. She was wearing little to nothing in a tight spandex body suit that only made her appear more bony than seductive. Her hair was cropped really short, barely reaching past her ears and her lips painted a deep red that almost looked like she used the blood of the corpse to paint it that way. The young woman lifted her hands up a pathetic pink light barley glowing at her fingertips.
"Please leave me alone or I'll shoot!" She screamed mustering the courage to defend herself.
The intimidating young woman raised her eyebrow before laughing. "You think you can scare me? Pathetic." She sneered, her voice rich with a thick accent. The young woman was caught off guard when the woman's arm stretched twice their side and grabbed her wrapping her fingers around the young woman's throat squeezing.
The young woman clawed at her throat attempting to remove the older woman's hands from her throat, to no avail. She was losing the fight and she could feel her vision get spotty . She screamed to herself to fire the pink blast that saved her earlier. Her hands glowed pink and she wrapped them around the woman blasting her hands away from her throat. The older woman screamed, pulling back dropping the younger woman to the ground.
The young woman scrambled to her feet and made a run for it but was soon met with the older woman standing in front of her. "I have never seen such extraordinary powers, especially ones so strong as yours." She cooed cupping the young girl's cheeks.
"What do you want from me?" The younger girl whispered her body shaking in fear.
"You could be a very good asset to me. You don't seem from around here based on the portal you emerged from. Join me and I'll make you so powerful, people will fear you." She said her lips curled into a smile.
The younger woman glanced at the corpse that lay lifeless just a few feet away from her. She was weak and there was no way she could overpower the fighting woman that towered over her. She was in a foreign place with no one to run. If she returned back home she would be killed, and if she miraculously avoided death she would be powerless to stop her own people who already hated her. Everyone hated her because of the bad luck she carried around so she wouldn't be received with open arms. She was weak and she hated that. She wished she was as strong as the woman in front of her. The woman was everything she was not.
"Make me strong." The young woman said with the little confidence she had left.
"Very well." The older woman said grinning, turning around beckoning her to follow.
The younger woman followed behind her struggling to catch up to the woman who walked much faster than she did.
"What is your name child?" The woman asked.
"It is-." The younger woman started before she stopped herself. What was the point of holding on to her name if it only brought misfortune. She didn't know where she was and she could start fresh without anyone knowing who she used to be. There was only one name she could think of that was fitting to the bad luck she suffered back at her own home.
"It's Jinx." She confidently said liking her new name. For the first time in her life Jinx felt like she had control over her life and she would be damned if that got stolen from her.
