I have no words I've been gone for a while I know.

But in my defence life sucks sometimes, and all you do is get up go to work, then bed. wash rinse and repeat. But I'm back now and hopefully on somewhat of a schedule.

They drop Caroline off at Anna's house, she seems to stay there more than her own these days. Her phone rings as she races down the street to the Gilbert residence, Jeremy is going to need more clothes if he's staying at hers. She has almost a wardrobe full at his place and he only has half a draw. Damon always ringing at the most inopportune times. Anna asks Jeremy to answer it as she drives.

"Did you steal the journal." Is his form of greeting.

"Well hello to you too, Damon." Jeremy snickers at Anna's response. "Why would I, I've already read it."

"Someone has it." He snaps cutting her off.

"Not us." Jeremy calls out hanging up the phone. Having no time for his attitude, no doubt he will show up somewhere soon.

[Gilbert house]

Anna curses as she pulls up, seeing Damon's car in out front. That vampire does not know when to quit.

"Jenna we're home." Anna calls out entering the house first. Freezing in the doorway she sees Jenna sat at the table with a glass of wine while Damon cooks. She steals Jeremys phone from his pocket typing out a quick text to Jenna asking her why he's here. Her response made both of them laugh.

'Was bored he offered. A man is cooking me dinner while I sit here and dink I'm ok with that.'

"What is he doing here?" Elena shrieks from the doorway.

"Elena stop it." Jenna scolds, as Anna and Jeremy join her at the table.

"It's just a big family night, too bad Stefan is missing it." Damon jokes ignoring Elena, he's not here for her, Anna has what he wants. They eat, passing light barbs with smiles with the exception of Elena who sits there glaring at her plate.

Damon turns his gaze to Elena, threatening her and Stefan. He charges to his feet as she taunts him.

"Damon stop it. Elena go away." Anna demands. Elena shoves away from the table muttering under her breath as she storms upstairs. "Damon they are not going to stop us getting into the tomb, so stop."

"I just want her back." He admits the fight draining out of him as he slumps back into his seat.

"How can you love her, she's a shitty person."
"She loved me."

"She only loved herself." Anna says sadly patting his hand. Katerina wasn't made for love or redemption. God forbid she had to tell him about her execution orders. Her uncles were not going to let her live. And that's if her mother and aunts didn't get there first.

Seeing the room deflate Jeremy tells Damon to get up, guiding him into the living room to play some video games. They play together for over an hour before anyone breaks the fragile silence that had settled over the room. "When you're not being a dick you're kinda cool." Jeremy hesitantly admits, with a small smile directed at the vampire beside him.

"No Jer, he compels teenage girls, we don't like him." Anna shouts in from the kitchen, where her and Jenna are doing the dishes.

Jeremys phone starts to ring he pauses the game to answer it, "It's Fredrick we met the other day" Jeremy sit upright as Anna appears in the room. "Is anna there?" she is already taking the phone out of Jeremy's hand.

"What is it?"

"I have it, I have the journal." Damon reaching for the phone, Anna bats him away. Telling him to go answer the door, his brother is finally here. No doubt Elena called him. Stefan pushes his way inside telling Damon that the journal is missing. Ever the actor, Damon nails his part playing distraught. Realising it wasn't Damon he storms into the living room to interrogate Jeremy. The boy looks straight through him, unpausing his game.

Anna quickly hangs up sending a text for Fredrick to meet them at the grill.

"Damon you wanna go for drinks tonight at the grill, your treat." Anna shouts grabbing her coat.

"I'll drive." Jeremy shouts dropping his controller still ignoring the idiot in front of him.

Anna and Damon bout shout simultaneous no's. Laughing the three leave the house shouting bye to Jenna.

[Mystic grill]

"Hey Fredrick. " Jeremy shouts across the crowded bar.

"Good to see you again man." Matt says as he appears with drinks for the table.

"Matt are you never not working?" Anna jokes.

"Some of us haven't been around 1000 years." He answers kissing her cheek as he hands her, her drink.

"Touche."

Jeremy inclines his head to the pool table "Anyone wanna play?"

"We have." Fredrick starts only to be cut off by Anna.

"Catch the dumb dumb up then we shall plan the great escape."

"You're that Salvatore boy?"

"Man and yes."

"Jesus anna, him." She waves a hand to stop him again.

"He wants to free his twooo wove,"

"What could we do, it fate." Jeremy adds deadpanned.

Damon glares as Fredrick cracks a smile. But the man swings an arm around Damon's shoulder and says "I know a little about true love."

"A little, you."

This time it's him that cuts Anna off. "Shhh you, Katerina pierce is not a woman capable of love."

"Very manipulative." Anna adds.

"Is there any way to turn the commentary off."

Jeremy answers for her, with a resounding no. Anna always has something to say about everything. Matt returning to join them on his break points out that they had all tried to get her to stop.

"The journal." Damon tries to get back on topic.

"Don't need it." Anna sing-songs.

"I would prefer."

Fred looks to Anna she shrugs if he wants the journal he can have it. Not that it will help him. "Emily's grimoire was buried with your father." Damon is out of the restaurant so fast the humans don't see him leave. Fred waits a few minutes until he is sure Damon has left. "Do you think we should have told him she's not in there?" Matt falls into Damon's vacant seat. The look of horror on his face mirrors Jeremy's

"She escaped, bribes a solider was never in there." Anna explains.

"But Damon." Matt starts trailing off, he doesn't know what he wants to say, not really.

"Katerina cares about no one but Katerina never has, he was just another pretty boy she could play with nothing more nothing less."

"He loves her." Jeremy says sadly, he saw the way he reacted at the house, that was a desperate man.

"No." Fredrick says shaking his head with a laugh.

"He really loves her." Jeremy repeats telling the older vampire what had happened earlier at his house.

"That's why I haven't told him, imagine what he'd do."

Fred curses

"He'd take it out on the town." Matt whispers horrified.

Jeremy adds on "Like when he turned Vickie to get back at his brother."

Anna sighs, "Times that by 1000. Vampire emotions remember."

[next day]

Matt, Caroline, Tyler, Jeremy and Anna around sat around the kitchen table doing homework. When Vickie's absence is mentioned again by Tyler he doesn't understand why she won't join them.

"She's detoxing."

"She doesn't like you."

Jeremy and Matt answer at the same time. Anna smacks Jeremy's arm.

"What's your problem Gilbert." Matt groans as Tyler stands.

"Don't have one Lockwood." Anna grabs his arm stopping him from getting up.

"Both of you shut up." Tyler opens his mouth to argue, as if you can argue with Caroline. "I said shhhhhh, can we talk about what actually matters."

"Duke's party?" Tyler questions.

"Duke's party." Caroline agrees.

"Dukes a douche." The only thing Matt offers up.

"Yeah a douche with ten kegs, aka my new best friend." Tyler laughs his anger forgotten for the moment.

"Who the hell is Duke?" Caroline explain the Duke and his party to Anna with live commentary from Jeremy and Tyler. Anna asks when ask when and where the party is.

Tyler answers "The old cemetery tonight."

"Absolutely not." Anna starts, Tyler reals back as if struck, as Matt starts to piece together excuses.

"Maybe we should tell him."

"Tell me what baby Gilbert?"

"I guess it's time for you to join the club." She is cut off by her phone ringing.

"Caro, you talk him through it. I gotta get this."

"Shelia everything ok."

"Damon Salvatore was just here threatening me, to do Emily's spell. He doesn't know?"

"I don't trust him not with this. Shelia make sure Bonnie stays home tonight there is a fucking party at the old cemetery." She shouts to the guys she's leaving asking them all to stay home tonight for her piece of mind. "Shelia I'll be there soon. She hears Tyler arguing as she slams the door, she wishes she could help but there is nothing she can do here Caroline can handle it. She can't risk waiting another 100 years, Fredrick certainly won't.

[Shelia's house]

Bonnie lurks In the doorway as they talk.

"Shelia you don't need to come I just need a little Bennet blood that it." Anna tries to talk the witch into staying home, she wants no humans around Damon Salvatore when he finds out.

"Your father would have my head If anything happened to you." The old witch argues.

"Nothing is going to happen to me, he's a baby vampire."

"27 angry vampire." Shelia argues.

"26 and a witch, Pearl is a witch."

"Semantics." Shelia says with a wave of her hand.

"Gram we can't help them, they are." Bonnie calls from the door way hand clutching her chest.

"Bonnie stay out of this. I have tries to make you understand but you follow the words of a child over your ancestors."

"You said witches get pulled down by vampire problems. Well why don't we just leave them to it?"

"It's not that simple, not with this, mayhaps I should ask your father to come teach my Bonnie."

"That would not end well my father doesn't have the patience to teach, especially not witches who are not willing to listen." Anna laughs with a shake of her head. Her father barely had the patience to teach her. "If I can't talk you out of coming we should leave now Shelia."

[the woods]

Fredrick is waiting for them at the mouth of the tomb, he nods his head in the direction of the Bennet witch. "Will Damon be joining us?" He asks as they get close enough.

"I hope not." Shelia mutters, anna silently Agrees with the woman, looking around in the dark as if waiting for him to jump out.

"You already cleared us a path?" he nods as she smile turning to the forest at her back "Though you would have gotten her earlier."

Damon appears through the trees anna throws him back against one "Threaten Shelia again, you die." Anna flicks her hair over her shoulder ushering the others down the stairs and into the tomb. With a flick of her wrist Anna lights the torches

Fredrick still doesn't fully understand who or what Anna is but as long as she is on his side he doesn't care, she's always been a good kid. Damon joins him on the side-lines as the woman set up the circle. The young vampire offers Fredrick a blood bag, a silent truce. Bethanne's going to be thirsty, he takes the offering with small nod of recognition. Looking down, he has always know Katerina escaped that tomb. And this green boy is going to be crushed a blind man could see just how much he loved her. Unfortunately for Damon he hadn't learnt life's most important lesson when dealing with Katherina, she only looks out for herself.

"We're ready." Shelia announces taking a step back to admire her work. As she steps within the circle. "Absolutely not, you are not channelling this spell." Anna shouts throwing out her arm to stop her.

"I'm a Bennet witch."

"Your old, this spell would kill you. I will not have your death on my hands your idiot granddaughter needs you. If you die she is lost to the doppelganger."

Anna chants the spell, as Shelia threatening to call her father, the torches flare its done. The door to the tomb creaks open. Fred is in the moment they do, wasting no time to be reunited with his love. Damon is frozen in shock, he has waited a 100 years for this moment.

"Shall we Damon." Her words prompt him into action. She follows behind.

"Fucking dark in here." Fredrick calls out as he passes by anna, Bethanne in his arms, leaving her with Shelia he rushes right back to Anna's side.

"What are you doing?"

"You gave me my wife back the least that I can do is help you find your mother."

He still doesn't know the truth none of them do, but now is not the time, they need to find Pearl before Damon realises Katerina isn't here. She's the only human in the tomb and if he gets mad she could become a target.

"How didn't she die."

"Emily did something to stop the others from eating her, I don't know it all happened so fast." Anna shakes her head, so much happened in that one afternoon if not for Emily her family would have ran this town red with the blood of the founders.

"There." Anna shouts, Fred looks at the blank wall in confusion, as Anna runs her hand along it. "Of course Emily created a spell within the spell to hide my mother from the vampires." Using her magic Anna drops the defences surrounding Pearl. The gasp lets her know it worked Fredrick can see her. He scoops her up and they rush out of the tomb followed by the sound of shouting Damon's figured it out.

Damon vamps speeds out of the tomb as anna swings the door closed "Easy peasy."

Fred is gently coaxing Bethanne drink a blood bag as colour floods hers face, Pearl still unconscious resting against the ruins, Shelia is running her hands across her body making sure Emily's stasis spell worked correctly. Damon in his fury rushes at Pearls unconscious body. Anna throws him away with magic, he manages to grab Bethanne in the scuffle.

"Throw me again princess, I'LL RIP HER HEAD OFF." Fredrick hold out both of his hands, trying to stop the man from doing anything reckless, Bethanne was too weak to fight him off right now.

"You both knew she wasn't in there." He shakes Bethanne's limp body with every word. It's not a question, he knows. "Why do you get the happy ending?"

Shelia freezes him in place giving Anna the time to displace Bethanne from his arms. Fred explains looking down at Bethanne back in his arms, how Katerina had bribed a guard to release her. "I saw her in Chicago, 1983 she knew where you were Damon she didn't care." Anna adds softly. Damon turns and vamp speeds away "That went about as well as expected." With a sad shake of her head Anna offers Fredrick a place to stay, he refuses he already has several places for him and his wife to travel and finally have a life together.

{Home}

Using her magic Shelia is home and Pearl is now safely tucked into the bed Vicky and Caroline had sorted out for her. Hearing a commotion in the living she rushes downstairs. She gets there just in time to hear a woman in her doorway calling Caroline a slut. Shouting about handouts and Vicky prostituting herself.

"Okay, that enough." Anna calls out as Vicky rushes past her on the stairs, Tyler close behind her.

"Who the hell are you?" The mystery woman shouts.

"Better question, who do you think you are coming into my house like this?"

"She my mother." Matt mutters looking down ashamed at the spectacle she is making on his friends doorstep.

"This isn't your house."
"My Parents house."

"Where are they."

"Working, you know that thing parents do to support their families. Well I suppose you don't do you?" Anna smiles at the look of shock on the other woman's face. "Caroline could you be a dear."
"With pleasure." Caroline smiles as she slams the door on her face. "If you're not gone in 10 I'm calling my mum your trespassing."

Jeremy leads Matt back into the living room, as he tries to stutter out an apology. It's not his fault his mother is a nutter and they all tell him as much. Matt shakes his head asking if it all went ok. With a smile Anna tells them all that pearl is okay and sleeping upstairs. She should be up in a day or two.

"Next question, Tyler."

"Fine, well as fine as can be but your gonna have to explain the werewolf shit." Anna agrees.

{The next day}

[Fredrick's house]

Bethanne opens the door, "we've been expecting you Harper." She swings the door open wider ushering him in. He walks into the living room to find Fredrick, Pearl and Anna waiting for him.

"Sit, Harper." Pearl demands. He falls into the seat across from her staring in wonder, she should be dead, It's been 100 years.

"I saw you," Her daughter pulls him from his musing. "Figured you would follow me here."

"You're here while the others."

"I'm working on it."

"We can't wake everyone at once it would be a blood bath."

"This town deserves to die." He stands angry. Fredrick grabs him by the arm slamming him back into his seat.

"You will do as your told. This town is already suspicious enough." Bethanne snaps reappearing with a blood bag the throws to Harper.
