105. Chapter 105

A/N Hello there! I'm sad to get your hopes up that this is actually a new chapter, but I'm very VERY pleased to say that this story has started consuming every moment of my waking life and is therefore the #1 project I've chosen to tackle for NaNoWriMo 2023 (I've 2 other DRR fics that might get some attention, though they are significantly shorter than this.)

I was trying to fall asleep about 6 weeks ago and was suddenly fixated on this one moment where Monica is looking out a window, 4 years after where I last left them in chapter 104. I won't tell you where she is or what she sees, but for some reason, it hooked me right back in to my obsession, with easily a 2001-2003 intensity. It wasn't a new scene by any means, though it has certainly changed and shifted and grown since the first time I sketched it out, but it's an extremely pivotal scene.

I just spent the last three days rereading my story. I've reread every single comment along the way (HUGE thanks to everyone who ever commented. It's been an utter joy to reread your kind words!) I'm trying to work my way through season 9 before NaNo starts. I'm letting myself write a bit, but mostly trying to hold it all in so that I can use it for word count.

The story I left on, where Gibson and Jordan are trying to solve a mystery, I'd never solved, and probably still won't, but that's how it went a lot of the time. I wrote - and plotted - so much of this on the fly. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. There are some scenes I know need to happen in other parts of the larger story, but I can't even envision yet. NaNo's always been good at forcing me to look and make my story happen, so I'm excited to see what pressure will do for the story.

I'm hoping you'll join me here next month, and have the chance to get reaquainted with Monica, John, Gibson, and Vera. There will probably (definitely) be some familiar guest characters along the way, some who have already made their appearances here (Hello Barbara), and some who've yet to grace the page (maybe ... William?)
