InuYasha was only a few steps away from the cabin he shared with Kagome. It was as if he could feel the cold inside even before going in. It was hard for him to explain what had been happening since they had come back from that village and its forest. Kagome wasn't the same, he knew, yet despite sensing it, he didn't want to ponder too much about it, preferring to believe it was something temporary.

Even so, it wasn't easy to ignore everything they seemed to be losing. Once inside the cabin, he found her stirring a stew inside a pot, the fire barely alive. Kagome didn't turn to look at him, she almost never did now. It was painful, to think that their bond was weakening, separating them, as if fate's string were about to snap. The home they had built together, felt empty now without her vitality; abandoned.
