Sunday 24th April, 1920
Jack ended up falling asleep more or less straight after Rose the night before and when Rose woke to feed Sophia, she assumed Jack would wake up and head to work before Tilly got up for the day, so didn't think too much of him sleeping in her room, but Jack was woken up the following morning by Tilly at around 6am.
"Mummy? Mummy?" Tilly said quietly as she gently shook Rose but Jack woke first "are you OK?" He said as he sat up, trying not to wake Rose. Tilly shook her head "I can't find Cuddles" she looked at him sadly. "Come on, I'll help you look" he said as he held out his hand for Tilly and they headed back to her room. Jack checked down the side of her bed where Cuddles had fallen whilst Tilly was asleep. "Here we go" he smiled "thank you…" "would you like some breakfast?" Jack asked as Tilly climbed back in to bed "No thank you, I want to to back to sleep" she said as she lay down "OK darling" he said quietly "I'm going to head to work soon, so I'll see you when I'm home" he said as he bent down to kiss her forehead. Tilly nodded, half asleep "OK…"

Jack left the room and went for a quick shower before leaving a note as he headed to work.
Rose,
I've gone to speak to my boss. I'll be back as soon as possible.

A few hours later, Rose was woken up by Sophia. She checked the time; 9am, so decided to go and check on Tilly.

"Morning darling, why didn't you come and wake me?" Rose said as she looked at Tilly who was drawing as she sat on her bed. Tilly just shrugged. "Should we go and get some breakfast?" Rose suggested. "OK" Tilly said as she climbed out of bed and followed Rose downstairs.

"What would you like to do today?" Rose asked as she put a plate of toast in front of Tilly "I don't know" Tilly replied "we could go to the zoo if you'd like?" "Yes please!" Tilly nodded. "OK, well as soon as you've eaten breakfast, we'll get you and Sophia ready and we can head out"

They were just about to leave the house when Rose decided to write a quick note for Jack to let him know where they were going. She thought he would have spoken to his boss and been home by now and was a little disappointed he wasn't.
Jack,
We've gone to the zoo. Feel free to join us. We should be home around 4 if not.

"Let's go" Rose smiled as she pushed Sophia out of the house and took hold of Tilly's hand.
They arrived at the zoo around 20 minutes later and spent the day looking round at all the animals- Tilly fascinated by every single one. This was the first time she'd ever been on a 'proper' day out thanks to Cal, so it was all new and exciting.

After speaking to his boss, Jack headed to the hardware store. He bought 4 tins of paint - white, 2 light pink and a dark pink. He also bought some nails for the walls before heading to the grocery store where he bought a new set of bedding - white with pink dots along with some pink curtains.
He headed home in a rush to start his plan - to transform Tilly's bedroom to something she would love. He painted 3 of the walls white and one light pink, before painting 'Tilly' in italic font. Thankfully the paint dried fairly quickly and he had time to frame some of her drawings and hang them on the wall before changing her bedding and curtains to the ones he had just purchased.

"Mummy?" Tilly said as they sat in the zoo cafe to each lunch. "Yes darling?" "Why was Jack in your bed this morning?" Rose froze, she didn't know Tilly had seen Jack and had no idea what to respond. "Erm-" "Father never slept in your bed?" She asked confused "well, me and Jack are in a relationship now sweetheart-" she said "a what?" Tilly asked with a frown. Rose laughed to herself inside, realising that Tilly wouldn't know what that meant. "Well, you know how Jack makes us very happy, and how he takes care of us?" She asked "yes…" Tilly nodded "it means that me and Jack spend a lot of time together and that sometimes we sleep in the same bed because we love each other" Rose said, knowing she was messing up her explanation, but she didn't know how else to explain it- she didn't think she'd ever have to, she didn't think she'd be in another relationship once she left Cal. "Is that OK?" Rose asked "Yeah" Tilly shrugged, struggling to see the big deal. "Thank you" Rose smiled gently as her and stroked her cheek as she watched her face become covered in ice cream.
