Marinette was sketching on Zoe's couch while her girlfriend was in a meeting about the Solitude sequel with Andre, Adrien, and Kagami. She could have joined but she was still working on the costumes and did not want to present half-finished work so that was what she was doing while the others reviewed the latest updates to the script. She smiled as she recalled all the grins on everyone's faces as they headed off to the meeting. This was more than a movie, it was a legacy. Everyone wanted this film to be as good as possible to honor Emilie's memory.
There was a knock at Zoe's door.
"Come in." Marinette called. "Zoe's out so it's just me for a while."
Chloe came in, looking sheepish. "Sorry, I thought she would be in here with you."
"It's fine, she is in a meeting with your father about the movie. She'll be back just before lunch. Did you need something, Chloe?"
The blonde heiress nodded. "Yes, even though I know I really should not be asking you for favors."
Marinette chuckled and moved her feet off the couch so Chloe could sit. "It's fine. You have always been daring, Chloe. What kind of favor do you need?"
Chloe gulped. "I want to take Sabrina as my date to the costume party on the 31st. She said yes, but neither of us have a costume."
Marinette set her sketchbook aside. "Under normal circumstances, I doubt I would be able to finish costumes in time for the party. However, I suspected this might be the case. I am already half way finished with a Queen Bee costume in Sabrina's size and a Miss Hound Costume in your size. Will that suffice?"
Chloe opened and closed her mouth a few times. Marinette smirked, losing sleep last night had been worth the effort, even if it meant Zoe had been passed out when Marinette had finally joined her in bed.
"I mean, I guess I could pull off Miss Hound, but why her in particular?"
Marinette winked at the blonde. "Oh, I felt inspired. Besides, she has the same hair color as Sabrina so I thought it would be a good match to her in your old outfit."
Chloe pondered this for a moment. "Alright, you're the designer. I'll trust your judgement. Don't worry, we will not be entering the costume contest. We know you and Zoe are hoping to win."
Marinette shrugged. "We actually don't care about that. We have… plans after the party we are more excited about."
Chloe grimaced. "I see. I guess I will need to get some ear plugs."
Marinette laughed. "Please Chloe, it's not like we are going to do it in your room. This hotel has state of the art noise cancellation thanks to your father. I suspect we could scream and no one would hear more than a muffled gasp."
Chloe looked green. "I do not need that image in my head. My little sister and her girlfriend screaming as they do 'planned' things."
Marinette giggled. "You brought it up. Would have been rude of me to hide it."
Chloe nodded, biting at her lip. "I wouldn't even dare ask Sabrina so soon for that. Not after the way I treated her."
Marinette took her pen and tapped Chloe's lip to get her to stop biting it. "You're going to make it bleed, quit that. Also, who knows. Halloween is a magical time. Plus, you can't wear anything under those suits so if you happen to do a slow dance together…"
Chloe blushed. "I… I see. Well, if it happens, it happens. Thank you, for all the help. I would have botched asking her out and our first kiss if you had left those up to me alone. I owe you, Marinette."
Marinette smiled as Chloe said her name. "I understand. And for what it's worth, I'm sorry my kissing you started all of this. I was sad when you didn't want to talk about it, all those years ago."
Chloe nodded. "I would not trade Brina for anything, but I still feel like Audrey stole something beautiful from us. Do you think there is a world out there where we got together?"
Marinette rose to her feet. It was time to meet Zoe for lunch. "Yes, I do Chloe. If it's possible for you to change and be a better person, there must be a reality where I love you. I'm sure of it. It's just not here, that's all."
Chloe rose with her. "I can accept that. Can I join you two for lunch?"
Marinette wrapped her arm around Chloe's. "I would be insulted if you didn't. Besides, Zoe will be delighted to have lunch with her big sister."
They left together and joined Zoe. Her girlfriend raised an eyebrow at their interlocked arms but only smiled. The three of them joked and laughed as they enjoyed their lunch together.
