Snake Eyes (Version Two):
Penelope for the life of her could not piece together what had happened the night before. All she knew was the A) she had drank way too much wine B) Kevin and her had fought, and he had stormed out and C) Derek Morgan looked really good with just a towel on. She assumed, based on what she knew, her and Derek had crossed that unspeakable line.
Oh, the many times she'd fantasized about him worshipping her body. Of course, though, they never let it happen. Sure, they teased each other, and sometimes they were mistaken for a couple, but it was never more than friendship.
She was avoiding him. He knew it, and so did she. She barely answered his calls, and when she did, she refused to joke back with him. It was only a matter of time before they finally sat down and talked, but right now, she mourned. She knew she had ruined everything. Sleeping with Derek was stupid because it would cost her her best friend. And she cheated on Kevin. She was not that kind of girl.
The worst part of it all, though? She couldn't remember it. She wanted desperately to recall what Derek's lips felt like on her own, but the memories refused to come back. She wouldn't even have that to hold onto. She worried about what she had said when they slept together. Had she slipped up? Dropped the L word? Tell him she wanted to be his wife someday and have 2.5 kids and a white picket fence with a Golden Retriever?
She was so embarrassed. If this had been under different circumstances, she would be so happy. If she and Derek had confessed their love for each other, had been single, and had made passionate love that she remembered in the morning, it would have been a dream come true. But that's not what happened, and she wasn't sure if she would ever be able to fix the damage.
"Alright , enough is enough." Derek's voice caused her to jump. She hadn't expected them to already be back in Quantico. "It's time for you and me to have a little sit down."
She knew this was coming, but she thought she would have more time to prepare herself. What was she supposed to say? She had never expected herself to be in this situation and she was uncertain about the right way to handle it.
"What's going on with you? Half of the time I call, I get your voicemail." Derek continued. She was still facing away from him, afraid to look him in the eye. "When I do get you, I don't even get a little bit of sass coming my way. Now what's the deal?"
She tried to form words to explain why she had been blowing him off all day. Derek was clearly not going to let this go. He called out to her to get her attention. Finally, she whipped around her chair so that she was facing him.
"Look, I get it that men and women are different and venus and mars and all that stuff, but I do not understand-" Derek cut off her ranting.
"Pump your brakes." He said. "What is this about?"
"You were in my shower at 7 in the morning." She reminded him.
"Because I shower at 7 in the morning." He replied, still confused. "Baby you had a little too much to drink the other night. You called me to come over and keep you company."
"I know." She said. "I remember that but-"
"Okay what happened between us was popcorn...and a movie on TV?" He tried to jog her memory. "Which you fell asleep in the middle of by the way…"
"So you slept on the-"
"Couch." He completed.
"Yes you did." She was relieved to finally remember. She hadn't cheated on Kevin and ruined her relationship with Derek afterall.
She thanked whatever God there was for not letting that happen. She was so glad she had such a wonderful friend like Derek. How could she think he would take advantage of her in such a drunk state? Of course he wouldn't.
Kevin showed up, asking if she was ready for their date. She wasn't sure she should go, but Derek reminded her that Kevin was a great guy. She knew he was right, but still. Something was weighing on her mind.
"What does a girl do when she has two great guys?" Penelope asked him.
"She doesn't pour that second glass of wine." Derek stated.
She realized that Derek didn't understand what she was trying to hint at. She wanted to give him the chance to ask her to choose him, but he was oblivious. He didn't see her that way, clearly. She decided to give in and just go on her date with Kevin. It was probably better this way.

Penelope was so happy to see her chocolate thunder arrive. She had called him after the second glass of wine and asked him to join her pity party. Stupid Kevin had been angry about her spending too much time with Derek. Well, he stormed out, and Penelope wanted company. What better company than her love machine, aka best friend, aka love of her life.
"Baby girl, tell me you didn't drink wine? You know what that does to you." Derek teased when he entered her apartment.
He was carrying the popcorn she'd requested, and had grabbed cheddar seasoning to sprinkle on top, and some M&Ms. She didn't even have to ask for those, he just knew. Derek knew everything about her, minus the fact that she was in love with him.
"My vision!" She exclaimed. She threw her arms around his neck. "Oh, thank you for coming over."
"Anytime, Princess." He smiled at her. "Go pick a movie, I'll make the popcorn."
She followed his instructions and flicked through the TV stations, looking for a good movie. Kevin never let her pick a Rom-Com. He claimed they were far too feminine. He only wanted to watch weird low-budget fantasy films. She shuddered at the thought of being forced to watch another one of those movies. She finally settled on The Notebook. It was nice to know that Derek wouldn't complain about her choices. He grew up with a mom and two sisters, so he didn't mind the occasional chick flick.
"Here, drink this. You'll thank me tomorrow." Derek said, handing her a glass of water along with the popcorn.
"My knight." She smiled.
Derek sat down, handing her the bowl of popcorn. She snuggled up next to him. Kevin hated to snuggle during movies, or at night. He claimed he always got too warm and uncomfortable. Derek, though, was like a big teddy bear.
"I love you, Derek Morgan." Penelope told him.
"I love you too, Baby Girl." Derek replied with ease.
"No, I love you." She reiterated, switching positions so she could look at him. "Like I love you as more than my best friend. I want to marry you and have little carbon copied Derek babies with you!"
"Sweetheart, you've had a lot to drink." Derek said gently. "You don't know what you're saying."
"I do, Derek! It's always been you!" She slurred her words a bit.
"I'll tell you what, pumpkin, if you can remember this tomorrow, and you admit this when you're sober, we'll talk okay?" Derek suggested. She grinned.
"Oh I'll remember!" She insisted. "It's a deal."

Penelope shot up from her bed. She remembered. How could she have forgotten that bit? Why hadn't Derek reminded her? She had confessed her undying love to him, and he hadn't said a word. She needed to speak to him. She checked the clock beside her bed. It was just after 1:00. She didn't care. This couldn't wait a moment longer.
She grabbed her keys for Ester and headed to Derek's house. She sped the whole way there. She wasn't thinking straight when she arrived, and pounded on his door. She didn't even remember that she had a key to his place on her keyring for when she'd look after Clooney. She heard the dog begin to bark, and Derek muttering the whole way to the door.
"Baby girl?" He asked, opening the door after looking through the peephole. "Penelope, it's in the middle of the night, what's wrong?"
"Oh, I'll tell you what's wrong." She assured him, pushing past him and walking into his house. Clooney jumped around her. She pet him affectionately before remembering what she was there for. "You left out some pieces from the other night."
"What?" He asked her, still trying to wake up. He had been asleep when she came over, and he was still processing the fact that she was there.
"I confessed my love for you the other night, Derek, and you said nada, zip, nilch!" She exclaimed. His eyes grew wide. "Oh that's right, you were hoping I wouldn't remember now that I'm sober. But I do! I dreamt about that night, I….oh god…"
"You dreamt that you confessed you love for me?" Derek asked at the same time Penelope asked:
"That was just a dream wasn't it?"
The two stared at one another. Penelope felt her cheeks turn bright red. It had been a dream. She had driven to Derek's house in her pink unicorn PJ's and her cat slippers, and she had completely embarrassed herself. She wanted to disappear.
"I-I, I'm going to go." She rambled.
She started to make a move toward the door. The walls felt like they were closing in on her. She needed to put distance between herself and Derek before she said anything else. She felt so stupid. Before she could make it to the door, though, Derek grabbed her arm gently.
"Baby, slow down." He said. "Why would you dream of confessing your love for me?"
"I don't know, ask Reid, he's the one with a Psychology degree." She tried to joke. "He probably knows way more about dream interpretation than anyone."
"Penelope," Derek looked at her seriously. "Are you in love with me?"
She froze. All words momentarily seemed to leave her brain. She knew she couldn't joke and tease her way out of this one. She had to tell him the truth now, it was her only chance. If he didn't feel the same way, she'd find some way to get over him.
"Yes." She whispered. She cleared her throat. "I think I've loved you from the moment I first met you. I have tried for so long to push my feelings aside because, Derek, you are my best friend. You mean the world to me. I know you've said I'm your solace, but you're just as much mine. I don't want to ruin what we have. I understand if this makes things weird with us, but please don't stop being my friend. I can get over-"
Derek cut her off in the only way he knew would work. He pulled her into his arms and finally, after so many years of wondering what it would be like, kissed her. Their lips moved together in perfect harmony. It was definitely worth the wait, but now that Derek knew what it was like, he wasn't sure he could live without this.
"Baby girl, I am so in love with you." Derek told her. "I always have been, but I thought you were happy with Kevin, so I left it alone. But, it's always been you for me."
"Where do we go from here?" Penelope asked, still wrapped in his arms.
"When you end things with Kevin, if that's what you want to do of course, I'll take you out on a proper date." He told her. She smiled.
"I'll do it tomorrow, I don't want to wait anymore to be with you." Penelope smiled at him. "I should go home and get some sleep."
"Nope, sorry baby." Derek shook his head. "I'll take the couch and you can sleep in my bed, but you aren't going back out tonight. You have a set of clothes here to wear to work tomorrow, but it's late. Sleep here, okay?"
"Okay, but we can share the bed. Just for sleep tonight." She negotiated.
Derek smiled at the idea of holding her all night. The pair made their way into Derek's room and crawled under the comforter together. They both had a perfect night's sleep in each other's arms.

Penelope ended things with Kevin the next day. He was, obviously, not pleased. He tried to beg her to stay, but her mind was made up. She had been settling with him, and it was about time she let herself be happy. She wanted to be with Derek, and they had spent enough time avoiding their feelings. This was their time, and no one was going to get in their way.
True to his word, Derek took Penelope on the best date of her life. They went to a Mexican restaurant that she loved. Kevin hated Mexican food, so she had rarely gotten it when they were together. After dinner, they went out to a little beach. Derek laid out a blanket, and they looked out at the stars. It was beautiful. They got lost in the moment and made love for the first time underneath the constellations.
The team had not been surprised when Derek and Penelope announced their relationship. Rossi was ecstatic because he won the bet. Emily groaned and asked them why they couldn't have waited another month. Apparently the pool of money had been growing over the years. They had all been waiting for the pair to finally fess up.
"We're happy for you." JJ grinned at her friends. "Took you both long enough."
"It's not surprising." Reid added. "The amount of oxytocin in the air when you two were in the same room was astronomical."
Derek and Penelope didn't bother with taking things slow. She moved into his house almost immediately. He proposed three months later, and they were married within a year. It was meant to be, and they were ready to start their life together.
Penelope found out she was pregnant a week after their wedding. They had discussed trying for a baby, but they were shocked to discover they had already concieved. They wanted two children, close in age.
Archer Luna Morgan was their oldest. She was their more laid back, quiet child. She could almost always be found with her nose in a book. She loved watching her mother on the computer, or asking her Uncle Spencer questions. They loved how inquisitive their daughter was, and knew that she would always crave more knowledge.
Aurora Stella Morgan was their younger daughter. She was their more adventurous child. She would beg her father to tell her stories about catching the bad guys. They had a feeling she would follow in his footsteps one day. She always kept them on their toes, but that wouldn't change a single thing about her.
When Archer was six and Aurora was four, Penelope asked Derek if he wanted another. She teased him about being outnumbered by all the girls. He said he did want another baby, but wouldn't be disappointed if it was another girl. She quickly informed him she was pleased he wanted another baby, because she was pregnant.
Atlas Nova Morgan was the perfect completion to the Morgan family. She was a sweet child from the moment she was born. She had everyone in her life wrapped around her finger from the moment she was born. She loved playing with her sisters and snuggling her parents.
"Are you sure you aren't sad that you are crowded by girls?" Penelope asked him once. Archer who was nine, Aurora was seven, and Atlas who was three, were all asleep in their bed.
"Not one bit." Derek smiled. "I was just meant to be surrounded by Baby Girls."
"We love you so much." Penelope grinned at her husband.
"I love you all, my perfect family."
Penelope was so glad she had dreamt about confessing her feelings to Derek. All of her dreams had come true. Derek and their daughters were more than she could ever wish for. And she had that one night to thank for it all.
