[Ghost Driver/Kamen Rider System]
"Many people pray to be kept out of unexpected problems. Some people pray to be able to confront and overcome them."
- Toba Beta -
With the Darkling problem being taken care of for the time being, Kamen Rider Specter solely focuses on the mysterious girl, who has been quietly watching him fight.
At first, he thought she was just some curious bystander, who simply got caught in the middle of the chaos.
But now that he paid close attention to Hikari's form, the black and blue Rider got this feeling that there was something definitely off about her.
'And if I remember it right, one of the Darklings was saying that she has an Eyecon in her possession.' Specter remembered.
With that thought in mind, the vigilante slowly walks toward the black-haired girl, making her flinch.
Hikari simply remained paralyzed under his gaze, unable to move, while her friend Natsuha seemed to assume the worst.
'Why is he after Hikari now? Didn't he save her before?' The ginger-haired girl thinks.
But before the Kamen Rider could ask the girls about the Eyecon, a new voice gets their attention.
"Nii-san!"
The three of them turned to see Kamen Rider Ghost rushing towards them, the black and orange hero also waving at the trio.
'Another one!?' Hikari thinks in surprise, eyes going wide upon seeing the familiar Ghost Driver around the younger boy's waist.
A bit far away from them was Koneko, who was still hidden and silently keeping an eye on the younger Kamen Rider. Like the other girls, she was equally shocked to see another mysterious masked warrior in the form of Specter.
"I'm done taking care of the Darklings on my end." Ghost cheerfully reports to his brother, briefly posing triumphally. "What about you?"
"Yeah, me too." Specter replies to him with a light nod.
The younger Kamen Rider eventually noticed the two high school girls were looking weirdly at him and his brother. And one of them, the black-haired girl, seemed to be expecting something from his older brother.
His sudden arrival probably interrupted whatever talk they were about to have.
So Ghost quickly nudged Specter in the ribs, signaling him to focus on Hikari.
'Ah, right…!' Specter quickly recomposes himself before looking at the girl with golden eyes.
"Are you alright?"
"H-Huh?"
Hikari simply looked dumbfounded at the black and blue Rider as her mind processed his words, not expecting that to be the first thing he would actually ask her. And the way he softly questioned her threw the ravenette girl off as whatever tension that previously took over her had evaporated.
"Y-Yeah…" She finally answers Specter, nodding her head a few times.
"Alright. Good."
And with that, he began to walk away. Ghost follows after him, waving a quick goodbye to the girls before following after his brother.
"Bye!" The orange and black vigilante tells the girls.
Specter wanted to actually confirm if the ravenette girl indeed had an Eyecon in her possession. But after seeing how overwhelmed and stressed she was with everything that happened during the Darklings' sudden attack, he decided to refrain himself from doing so. For some reason, the notion of forcefully demanding the girl to hand over the mystical item left him with a bad taste.
Maybe he will have another opportunity to do so in the future…
"Nii-san? Are you alright?" Ghost asks him, sensing the discomfort coming from him.
Specter placed a hand on the left half of his mask.
"Yeah. I guess I'm just a bit tired…" He replies vaguely.
"Wait!"
The two Riders halt as they turn to see Hikari calling them.
"Who exactly are you guys?" She asked them.
Deciding to play the mysterious type, the Kamen Riders each give a vague answer.
"Just a passing through Kamen Rider." Ghost says first with a finger salute.
"Kamen Rider?" Natsuha parrots, tilting her head.
"Earth is a round place." Specter replies next. "I'm sure we will run into each other again."
"See ya!" The black and blue vigilante lazily waves his arm at the girls.
And with each of the brothers giving their responses, the pair resumed walking away from the scene.
The sunset light washed over the Kamen Rider duo as their figures slowly vanished from there.
Natsuha gives her friend a funny look when she notices her friend paying close attention to Specter.
"Say, Hikari… Are you in love?" She teases, giving an amused look to her best friend.
"That's not it!" Hikari quickly counters, lightly smacking her friend on the shoulder.
However, the ravenette girl soon adopts a melancholic expression on her face.
'But that said… Why am I getting this sudden feeling of sadness in my heart? Like I'm missing something important…' She ponders, unconsciously clutching her chest.
Later that night...
Kuoh Academy - Occult Research Club(ORC)
"And this is what happened, Buchou."
Koneko has just finished retelling the fight that took place at Kuoh Town a few hours earlier, showing her master the pictures that she captured with her smartphone. The first photos mainly contained images of Kamen Riders Ghost and Specter. Next, the white-haired girl produced the images that she captured of the Shadow Darklings.
They were in Kuoh Academy, inside an old schoolhouse. Two individuals were before the [Rook].
Both were students as well.
One student is a beautiful young woman who appears to be in her late teens with white skin, blue-green eyes and a buxom figure. Her most distinctive feature is her long beautiful crimson hair that reaches down to her thighs, with a single hair strand sticking out from the top. Her hair also has loose bangs covering her forehead and side bangs framing her face.
This is Rias Gremory, a Pureblood Devil and [King] of her peerage.
The other is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure around the same age as the crimson-haired student with very long black hair and violet eyes. Her hair is tied in a long ponytail, reaching all the way down to her legs with two strands sticking out from the top and sloping backward, with an orange ribbon keeping it in place.
This is Himejima Akeno, a Reincarnated Devil and [Queen] of Rias' peerage.
The Crimson-haired girl stopped and her eyes narrowed.
"Akeno, did you sense the power back then…?" Rias asked.
"Hai. It feels..." The girl now named Akeno, placed her hand on her cheek, her eyes half-lidded. "Menacing."
The crimson-haired girl nodded as she was curious as to what exactly such a presence was. Whatever it is, it's powerful and ancient and it's in her territory.
And speaking of it, there was also the order she received from her older brother Sirzechs, to investigate and report about the mysterious phenomenon that happened last night.
The one that seemed to involve those shooting stars…
Rias can't picture yet how everything falls into place, but there is this uneasy feeling that everything is somehow connected.
One way or another…
"So this is the place, huh?"
Yusha and Yurei finally found the place that Truth had prepared for them.
The pair found themselves in the living room of a very plain-looking apartment.
Two couches, one 2-seater, and one 3-seater, sitting across from each other with a flat-screen television in between the ends, making it easy for all who sat to see.
The kitchen area had a large window-like hole in the wall that made the living room visible, and there were 4 other doors.
The brothers checked each one, finding them to be one bathroom, two bedrooms, and one master bedroom with its own shower room. Not an overly fancy apartment, but it was nice enough that they wouldn't mind living in it for some time before wanting to move elsewhere.
Yusha went over to the kitchen area and explored the cupboards. The young man groaned when he saw that they were void of anything edible. There were mugs, plates, cutlery and the like, but no actual food.
'That means I'd have to go buy food. And that means I'd also have to work for money. I had a few gigs back home. But I also got some of those jobs thanks to my parents, who recommended me to some people they knew. Over here, I don't have any qualifications. At least, I don't think so.' The younger Kamui thinks, briefly frowning in frustration.
Yusha was pulled out of his musings when he saw his brother noticing an envelope on the kitchen counter.
And it was addressed to Yurei.
Tilting his head in curiosity, the older Rider picked it up.
On it was a simple message:
Yurei, this is your new self. Your second chance.
Don't waste it. And I hope you find your answer to life.
Good luck!
-Truth ;)
Raising his eyebrow, Yurei opened the envelope and pulled out two sheets of paper folded together. Unfolding them, the young man reads the contents.
"Oh, come on!" He groaned, seeing the information.
On the papers were what almost looked like a character profile for the protagonist of a famous book/game/anime.
But that wasn't what surprised him though…
What surprised him was the accurate info the profile gave.
There was the usual; age, gender, name, etc. Then there were things like abilities, relatives, species and equipment.
But the data also contained information that he and his brother were apparently enrolled at some place known as Kuoh Academy, both being labeled as transfer students there.
And all the paperwork related to their stay there was provided to them by Truth as well.
"I can't believe it! Truth actually wants me to go through High School again!?" Yurei questions, sounding both annoyed and exasperated. "Did he really make me younger just for that!?"
"I guess so, Nii-san. I know you are fine with just looking around for the Eyecons, but you need an education in order to succeed in life. I can tell you don't want to do this forever and this will help us later in the long run. We also don't know how much time we are going to spend here in this new world. Having a degree will be necessary to secure a proper source of income later." Yusha reasoned with him, being aware that the credit card their benefactor provided them would run out of cash eventually. "I think that's why Truth did that to you. As for me, I have to finish high school anyway. So I'm honestly not bothered by the prospect of actually studying."
'And I also miss everyone back at my old school.' The younger boy secretly thinks, a sad expression briefly crossing his face.
It would be strange to be the new kid in a school elsewhere.
At a place nobody knew who he was supposed to be…
'Oh, boy. High school all over again. Here we go...' Yurei mentally prepares himself for the incoming headache.
A few days later…
Kuoh Academy - Morning time
Inside a classroom in Kuoh Academy, Rias was sitting in class with her friends Akeno, Souna, and Tsubaki.
Shitori Souna is a bespectacled young woman with a slim figure, black hair styled in a short bob cut and violet eyes.
Shinra Tsubaki had long straight black hair that reached down to her knees and had heterochromia eyes, her right eye was light brown and the other was violet. She wore light blue glasses which had half-rim square lenses.
The four were sitting in their classroom ready to start their third and final year at Kuoh. It wasn't anything exciting really since nothing really happened for the past couple of months, except for the unknown phenomenon of power they felt.
They searched everywhere for two certain masked suspects, but couldn't find a single clue. It was embarrassing for them not to be able to find the two Kamen Riders that got into their territory.
However, they haven't given up yet.
Especially Rias.
Just before they could begin class, the teacher came in and had an important announcement to make, which caught everybody's attention.
"Attention, everybody. We have a new student joining us today. Please welcome them with open arms."
Rias quickly turned to Sona with a serious expression,
"Did you know about this?"
"Actually, I don't. This must have been a last-minute transfer, otherwise, I would have known about this."
Sona is the President of Kuoh Academy's Student Council, and a childhood friend and rival of Rias Gremory. Tsubaki serves as her second in command, being assigned the role of vice-president.
Meanwhile, the other girls in the class were getting very excited.
"Who do you think they will be?"
"I hope they are boys. We have enough girls in the school."
"Let's just hope they're not perverts like most of the guys here."
"Agree."
"..."
Aside from Rias and her acquaintances, Hikari and her best friend Natsuha were also part of this class.
The ravenette girl simply sighed at their responses and turned to the window in boredom. It was always about boys in these conversations and she was getting tired of hearing them. Every guy she saw here was the same: shameless, perverted, and disappointing.
Is it that hard to have a normal guy who doesn't have a perverted mind?
She wasn't the only one who felt the same way…
Rias, Sona, Akeno, and Tsubaki all wished the same thing and were getting tired of the male students' behavior.
*Knock!* *Knock!*
A knock echoed in the room, forcing everybody to be quiet as the teacher smiled.
"Come on in."
Entering through the door was a certain familiar black-haired young man, who wore his school uniform a little differently.
Hikari gasped as she immediately recognized the individual in question, briefly drawing confused reactions from the others.
He is an 18-year-old teenager with short, spiky and raised-up black hair and a pair of dark blue eyes.
The boy is wearing a dark blue shirt underneath his Kuoh Academy uniform blazer, with a belt around his waist that has a silver-colored X-shaped buckle. He also wore a wristband with a black-and-white checkerboard pattern on his left wrist, as well as a plain black ring on his left index finger and a plain white ring on his left middle finger. Lastly, the young man is wearing glasses. However, they are actually fake because he wants to give off the impression that he's just some nameless, unassuming nobody so that he doesn't draw any unwanted attention to himself.
And because drawing attention to himself is exactly the last thing he needs happening with his time here in this new school...
Some of the girls were curious at the sight while Hikari was completely dumbstruck.
The person she has been seeing in her dreams for all this time just suddenly walks into their classroom and is now part of their class!
Yurei eventually notices Hikari as well and becomes equally shocked once the two make eye contact.
Curiously, the two were thinking the exact same thing:
'You have got to be kidding me!'
"Would you three mind introducing yourself to the class?" The teacher asked politely.
"Not at all. My name is Kamui Yurei." The ravenette boy introduces himself, giving a light bow followed by a smile. "I hope to get along with everyone."
However, in reality, Yurei secretly cursed Truth for being forced to act this way, but it was the best and safest option. If he acts the way he usually does then it will bring unnecessary problems.
The reincarnated boy also swore that he would throttle his benefactor when they ended up meeting again…
Little did he know that the nice guy charade would bring problems to him anyway.
It took a few seconds, but most of the classroom's girls soon erupted with screams of joy that their wishes had come true.
Huh?
The Rider was greatly confused by this reaction and wondered why they were acting like this.
The teacher claps their hands, getting everyone's attention.
"Settle down, class, settle down." They next turned to Yurei. "Now then, you can take your seat. It's the one next to Kamijou-san."
The teacher points at the empty seat next to Hikari.
Said girl tensed at this.
The Rider nodded to the teacher and walked over to the empty seat.
He could hear the whispers all around him, but Yurei chose to ignore them.
The blue-eyed teenager took his seat and was about to sit down, but something forced him to look around.
Yurei first saw a girl with long flowing red hair staring at him, next was a girl with long black hair, which was tied in a ponytail. And then there were two black-haired girls with glasses staring at him.
But he shrugged it off and sat down, allowing the teacher to begin the lesson.
While everything seemed normal, it actually wasn't. This action did not go unnoticed by the class nor by the girls around him. This was the first time they witnessed a guy who did not lose their composure at the sight of the four most popular girls in school.
All the girls here would become lost for words when they lay eyes on them. This simple action illustrates that the new student was not a pervert, which brought even more joy to them.
For Rias and the others, though, it was different. At first sight, the transfer student indeed seemed like a normal guy, but something was different about him. They can't tell what it is, nor describe it in words. The only thing that was clear to them was that they must keep an eye on him.
However, none of them mattered to Yurei at the moment.
Only one person did.
Hikari flinched as the newcomer sat on the open seat next to her.
He curiously glanced at her before smiling, extending a hand to the yellow-eyed ravenette.
"Nice to meet you. I hope we can get along. Kamijou-san, was it?"
The girl quickly regains her composure, momentarily looking anxiously at him with a strained smile as she shakes hands with the Rider.
"Of course, Kamui-kun. I'm Kamijou. Kamijou Hikari. The class representative. If there is anything you need, just ask me."
She managed to catch how the transfer student quickly narrowed his eyes at her before returning to normal.
"I see. Thanks. I will be under your care then." He replies to Hikari.
The classroom buzzes with the energy of a new school day. Students chat and laugh as they leave their seats for their break time.
Natsuha approaches Yurei's desk, with Hikari following after her.
"Hey there, new guy! How are you doing?" The orangenette greets him, a cheerful and bubbly aura with a radiant smile.
"Fine, I guess." He answers with a shrug, sounding indifferent.
Natsuha extends her hand, her enthusiasm contagious.
"Awesome! I'm Natsuha, by the way. Yoshizawa Natsuha. Welcome to our little slice of high school life!"
'Life, huh?' Yurei repeats in his mind, raising an eyebrow at her.
He then shakes her hand, trying to be a bit more at ease.
"Thanks, Yoshizawa-san. Nice to meet you." He replies, trying to sound polite.
With a pensive look, Natsuha then looks between him and her best friend.
"So, I couldn't help but notice… Aren't you the same guy we saw the other day? You know, nearby the donut shop?"
Hikari flinched at this while Yurei seemed to be amused at the orange-haired girl's bluntness.
"Yeah, that's right. I was on the bench." Yurei confirms, before fixing his gaze on Hikari. "I noticed Kamijou-san looking weirdly at me back then."
Remind about this, said girl briefly flushed in embarrassment.
Before he could ask her why she was doing that, Hikari quickly tries to justify herself.
"I-I'm sorry! I hope you haven't been weirded out by that." She quickly speaks, waving her hands frantically. "I was just distracted, really!"
A mischievous smile soon formed on Natsuha's face.
"Uhum. Is that so?" She asks with a smirk, teasing her. "Is there no other reason, Hikari?"
"Huh!? What are you implying!?" The black-haired girl questions her friend.
"I mean, he doesn't look bad… I wouldn't blame me if you were-"
"Natsuha!"
Seeing their friendly banter, Yurei couldn't help but chuckle, getting the girls' attention.
"You two seem to be very close." He comments with a soft smile.
"Yeah, you could say that. We're not just best friends, but childhood friends as well." Hikari explains once she sobered up.
"Ah, I see." The Rider nods in understanding. "Friendship is an important thing. I hope you two treasure it."
"In that case, do you want to be our friend as well?" Natsuha suddenly offers, surprising him. "Just if you want, that is."
"Eh?" Hikari was surprised at the suggestion.
"Really? But we just met." Yurei points out.
"And what's the matter with that?" Natsuha retorts. "It must suck to be the new face sometimes, right? Plus, we can help get you used to Kuoh Academy quicker."
Hikari noticed Yurei hesitate at this, looking uncomfortable at the suggestion. She wondered why he was making such a reaction.
But then, the transfer student focuses on her, his dark azure eyes gazing at her yellow ones.
"Well… I appreciate that." He finally answered after some consideration. "Is that fine with you, Kamijou-san?"
Like him, Hikari also thought a bit before making her decision. A part of her couldn't help but suddenly wish to investigate this mysterious boy more and find out who exactly he is.
"Of course, Kamui-kun." She answers, smiling softly at him.
Eyecon Hunters of DxD
Eye 02: Welcome to Kuoh Academy!
It was now lunchtime.
Before spending time with new friends, Yurei searches for Yusha to talk about something first with him.
The Kamui brothers were now on the rooftop of Kuoh Academy's main building, quietly eating their meal.
For Yurei, the constant need to eat became a real pain right away along with a few other things. The reincarnated soul wasn't fully used yet to having a body again and keeping it healthy proved to be a far harder task than he anticipated, especially due to hunger and hygiene. Maintaining their new home and their budget to pay bills and such just added to the list of annoyances.
And just like ever since he first ate something in this new world, the black-haired young man still couldn't taste any kind of food.
No matter what he tried...
Everything he eats just feels bland.
'It's been a while since I felt this hungry. And yet, I can't taste anything. Why?' He thought as he looked at Yusha, who was happily eating some yakisoba pan he bought at the school's cafeteria.
Shaking his head, the older brother took a bite of his sandwich before starting a conversation:
"So, how was your first class?" Yurei asks as he faces Yusha.
The younger Kamui was wearing an orange hoodie underneath his uniform's black blazer.
"It was cool, I guess." Yusha replies, a small smile forming on his face. "The girls in my class were very nice to me."
His brother gave him a look.
"What? Is that so? Do you already have a crush in your classroom?" Yurei teased.
"It's not like that, Nii-san!" The younger Kamui denies, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Yurei simply chuckles at this.
'Same old Yusha. So easy to tease sometimes. I guess some things never change, huh?' He reminisces as certain memories of childhood time come into his mind.
Of blissful times when he was still alive…
But the brothers eventually sobered up, deciding to discuss something more important.
"So you found the girl that has an Eyecon, Nii-san?" Yusha asks him with a surprised expression once he finishes eating. "And she is also in your classroom? Man, talk about luck!"
After their first time in the new world, Yurei informed him about Hikari and how the Darklings seemed to be interested in her because she possibly had an Eyecon with her.
"So, any idea about which Eyecon Kamijou-san has?"
Yurei shook his head at this.
"No. But it doesn't matter. I need to think about how to get it from her first." Yurei comments as he gets a pensive look. "Should I forcefully take the Eyecon from that girl or steal it once I learn where she is hiding it?"
However, Yusha didn't seem to share this line of thought.
"Nii-san…"
"Huh? What?" Yurei questioned, acting as if there was nothing wrong with the way he was planning his next move and feigning some ignorance.
"C'mon, you can't be serious! Are you even listening to yourself?" The younger brother says, now sounding exasperated. "We are Kamen Riders now! Truth entrusted this role to us. And this isn't how we are supposed to collect Eyecons. This doesn't make us any better than the Darklings!"
Yurei merely raised an eyebrow at this before scoffing.
"There's a lot at stake here, Yusha. Your own life, especially." He reminds his little brother. "We're in a new reality. A universe completely different from ours. This isn't like the Kamen Rider TV shows we used to watch as kids. This is real life. There should be a limit to how much naivety one can have under our circumstances."
Yusha became even more disappointed with his brother's attitude.
"But didn't you become a police officer? To fight for the right thing and protect the weak?" He reminds Yurei, who winces at this. "If our family saw you right now, they would be pretty upset with your attitude, Nii-san. Especially our grandfather."
This seemed to strike a chord with the older Kamui, making him falter for a moment.
'Jii-chan…' Yurei thinks, briefly burying his face into his hands as he suddenly feels reminiscent.
Their late grandfather, from their mother's side, was the one who introduced the Kamui brothers to the Kamen Rider franchise and all the other Tokusatsu-related shows. And from what both Yurei and Yusha learned from the old man, he even got to personally meet Ishinomori Shotaro and work with him at Toei Studios, being part of the staff that worked in the Kamen Rider shows of the Showa era.
Their grandfather was also a kind man with a strong sense of justice, a person both brothers looked up to.
And he was among one of the main reasons Yurei decided to become a police officer once he graduated from high school, back in their homeworld. On his deathbed, the Rider made a promise with his grandfather, to do his part to make the world a better place.
To fight for the right thing and protect the weak…
Suddenly remembering the moral values he learned, in the past, from his grandfather, Yurei now faces Yusha with a different expression on his face.
"Alright then, what do you want me to do?"
Meanwhile…
Kuoh Academy - Student Council Room
*Knock!* *Knock!*
A knock was heard, in which Tsubaki opened the door, revealing Rias and Akeno entering the room.
"Rias." Sona greeted her childhood friend and rival.
The short-haired girl was currently working on some paperwork by her desk.
"Sona." Rias greets her back, taking a seat on a nearby couch. "Have you found anything about our new classmate?"
"That is what I am here to tell you. After the teachers brought the documents to me, I searched for any known members of his family and location but… There are hardly any relevant records of him. It's just the basics, like vaguely saying how Kamui hails from Okinawa, having spent most of his life there."
"Okinawa? That's quite far from here." Rias comments in surprise.
Sona placed a finger on her chin.
"Every piece we learn creates more questions."
"Have you found anything odd about him?" Rias asked.
She recalled Sona wanting to look into the boy's file to find out more about him.
"It pains me to say it, but no. " The bespectacled girl answered bitterly.
Rias simply blinked upon hearing Sona's answer.
"Seriously!? How!?"
"His student files only provide little details about him, including his background. And all of it we already know. But we are not allowed to look at Kamui Yurei's medical files for further details since the board forbids it." Sona explained.
"That is very odd…" Rias pondered, "Think he could've tampered with his own data so no one could track him?"
"Perhaps, but that is not what concerns me the most at the moment." The Student Council President replies. "It seems that he isn't the only transfer student. There is one more person enrolling into Kuoh Academy."
That made Rias pause.
"Another one? Who?"
"Kamui's younger brother."
"What!?"
Sona then hands Rias the files containing information about one Kamui Yusha, soon finding out that they were as vague as his older brother's.
"And there's two of them." Sona comments, a look of concern on her face. "This is too good to be a coincidence."
Rias quickly reaches the same conclusion as her while Akeno and Tsubaki are merely curious about what their [King]s would conclude.
"Sona, do you believe that the Kamui brothers are those mysterious black-clothed masked warriors that showed up the other day?"
"Maybe. It's still too soon to believe that, Rias." Sona says, adjusting her glasses. "We need more proof first before taking any action."
The two rulers of Kuoh Town were a bit uneasy that they only had a little amount of information about the transfer students.
The Kamui brothers just randomly appeared out of nowhere, supposedly a few days ago. They then joined their school. Also, the unknown pair of masked warriors was their only lead to that mysterious surge of power they felt a few days ago and yet it hasn't reappeared since then.
"Speaking of Kamui Yusha, which class is he at?" Rias asks.
"The same class as Hyoudou." Sona comments, briefly sounding annoyed at the mention of one of Kuoh Academy's resident perverts.
Rias turned to Akeno.
"Anything about the Issei boy?" She asked.
"Koneko'll keep watch over him. He seems to be….. 'Interesting' as of now." The [Queen] smirked.
"So, what do you think about this place so far?"
"It's good, I guess."
"You think?"
It was near the end of lunchtime.
Yurei was currently walking back to class with Hikari and Natsuha, the former was helping him get used to Kuoh Academy while the latter was keeping them company.
They suddenly noticed that everybody was moving out of the way. Curious as to why, the trio noticed two girls walking down the hall, who also happened to be their classmates. Comments flew across the air about them on how beautiful and perfect the two were, along with a few other things.
But the Rider merely raised an eyebrow at that.
'Great… More people I will have to avoid…' Yurei thought, uncomfortably.
"Look! It's Rias Gremory and Himejima Akeno!"
"Aren't they so beautiful!?"
"I wish I could have a perfect body like them!"
"I would do anything to date them!"
Yurei deadpanned and looked at his new acquaintances, Hikari and Natsuha only shrugged in response, telling him to wait.
'Oh hell no! I'm not waiting!'
Ignoring the two girls, the newcomer dragged his two new 'friends', surprising them.
"C'mon!"
"W-Wait, Kamui-kun!" Hikari called, blushing as he touched her.
"Whoa!" Natsuha was taken by surprise for his action.
And so, the trio continued down the hall, not knowing that the action they took was starting an uproar…
Students were simply shocked to see that the transfer student and his two friends were not standing to the side like the rest of them.
While the female students were stunned by this, the male half was enraged. They couldn't believe that these guys had the guts to walk in the presence of the two hottest girls in the academy!
As they slowly approach each other, Yurei notices Rias is staring at him and he returns a similar stare back to her.
"Hey!" The trio turned around to see a group of boys glaring at them.
"What is it?" Yurei asked innocently.
"You know what you three just did!?"
"Enlighten us." Yurei crossed his arms while Hikari and Natsuha got worried.
Well, there goes his plan to go unnoticed by everyone. Well, screw it now that it has come to this!
"You three got a lot of nerves walking past the Two Great Ladies of Kuoh!"
"So?" The blue-eyed ravenette tilted his head.
"SO!?"All of them shouted, catching the attention of everybody else, including Rias and Akeno.
"YOU SHOW THEM SOME RESPECT!"
"YEAH!"
"THEY ARE THE PRIME BEAUTY OF THIS SCHOOL!"
"SO GO BACK AND APOLOGIZE TO THEM!"
Rias just simply sighed at the boys' comments. She was getting tired of being treated like she was some sort of important figure who deserved the utmost respect. Even Akeno was getting sick of it as well. Right before she could leave, she heard something that completely shocked her.
"No."
The entire hall went completely silent at Yurei's answer.
Rias turned to face him, who was being stared at by the boys, who were now with widening eyes.
This was the first time something like this had happened. Mouths were dropping from shock as everyone heard his bold declaration. The boys glared at him with great rage while the girls were curious as to why he refused to do so.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" The boys demanded, angry.
"I said no. Why should I give respect to someone who I have no idea who she is? How can I know if she is deserving of my respect?" Yurei pointed out flatly while Hikari and Natsuha were looking pale at this.
"OF COURSE SHE DESERVES YOUR RESPECT, ARE YOU DAMN STUPID!?"
"The only ones who I see as stupid are you maggots." The reincarnated soul replies with a shrug, shaking his head in disbelief.
"WHAT!?" They roared together while getting ready to attack him and his friends.
"Don't tell me what to do, delinquent!" A boy yelled.
He reared his fist back and threw a punch at the Rider.
With his great reflexes, Yurei grabbed Hikari and Natsuha and moved both of them out of the way.
The boy missed entirely, lost his balance and fell to the ground hard. He lay motionless for a moment before slowly getting back up. They could see that his nose was bleeding. He must've hit it on the way down or landed on it.
Either way, he was seething.
The rest of the boys were about to save the fallen one, but Yurei gave a glare that was so intense that it made them quake in their boots.
"Choose wisely if you really want to fight me." He warned them, almost sounding like a demon.
'The way he just moved and his reflexes… It's just like that masked guy from the other day…! Kamui is really him! I was right!' Hikari secretly thinks once she sees Yurei dealing with things in his own way, she imagines him as Specter.
"What's going on here!?"
Everybody turned to see familiar faces which caused many of the students to gulp hard.
'Shit….' Yurei thought, also realizing who it was.
"It's Shitori Souna and Shinra Tsubaki of the Student Council!"
"Oh man, Souna looks extremely mad!"
Sona walks over to the Rider and his friends. Yurei remains unfazed by her presence while Hikari and Natsuha are worried. She crossed her arms and:
"First week of school and you are already starting a fight, Kamui-kun?"
"Actually, it's the other way around." Hikari said, somehow mustering courage.
Sona turned her attention to the girl.
"Defending your friend here, Kamijou-san?"
"No, providing actual facts for what really happened." This time Natsuha said, catching her attention as she calmed herself down a little.
"…Okay, could you explain what has transpired here?" The Sitri Devil inquiries.
"Very well, Shitori-san. Kamijou-san, her friend and I were simply walking back to class while everybody else just stood to the sides to allow passage to these two here." Yurei began and pointed a finger at Rias and Akeno.
"Instead of wasting time standing around, we continued on to class, but we were stopped by them." He now points to the group of boys. "They ordered us to apologize for the answer that I gave."
"What was your answer?" Sona asked.
"It was 'no'. They grew furious over this simple answer and were about to attack, but Kamui-kun simply avoided them with his reflexes. He was simply displaying self-defense here, Kaichou, and the ones that should be questioned are them." Hikari answered and revealed the frightened boys who were in front of them.
Sona gave a serious gaze at them before turning back to Yurei.
"I see, may I ask why you choose to say no and why are they so upset about it?" She asked the revived soul.
"They demanded that we show respect to Rias Gremory and Himejima Akeno for walking past them. There is no rule in the school that states that we have to step aside for them or treat them with respect. If I may speak freely, it is quite pitiful. Respect is something that is not given so easily, it is earned. I can confidently say that you agree as well, right, Shitori-san?"
Sona's next action surprised Rias, Akeno, and Tsubaki. She gave a small smirk and it wasn't any kind of smirk, it was a pleased smirk. In all the years they knew her, she never gave that kind of smirk to anyone other than them and a few other people. Yurei was the first one out of her group to receive this and made them question who this boy really was.
Sona adjusted her glasses for a second and then:
"You're quite the analyst, Kamui-kun." She simply said.
"Being an analyst is an important trait for me, Shitori-san." He replied back and also adjusted his glasses.
"I see. You can call me Sona, by the way. I must say, you gave quite a detailed defense for yourself and your friends, bringing out a few good points."
"I simply provided the information you require to understand the situation. It's nothing special."
The hall was frozen in time.
This transfer student managed to become friendly with Shitori Souna, head of the Student Council and the third most popular girl in school. The boys were enraged that this glasses boy was able to become friendly with her so easily and wished he would burn in hell.
Sona returned to her serious manner before facing Yurei again. He could tell by the look on her face that she wanted him to stop glaring at the boys. To avoid any unnecessary trouble, he would stop but not before giving one last "death glare" at the group.
"Be warned, fighting me will be the last mistake you will ever make, do you understand?" He replied with a look not of intimidation but of one that showed the determination that he would fulfill this promise since he didn't see a point in making threats.
The boys nodded quickly in fear before backing away.
Sona rubbed her temples and sighed before asking:
"Kamijou-san and Yoshizawa-san, do any of you have something else to say?"
"Kamui-kun said everything that I wished to say, Kaichou." Hikari said.
"Me too." Natsuha added, quickly nodding in agreement.
"And how do we do that? To gain your respect?" The group turned to see Rias, who was smiling at Yurei.
The new Rider swiftly grew suspicious of the redhead because of her sudden curiosity and the fact she was emitting a strange vibe.
It felt impure…
He decided to play along in order to find out her true intentions:
"Prove yourself, with your actions." Yurei said.
"That's all?"
"Actions provide more proof than any words you could muster and so far I can see you have nothing." He dryly said to Rias.
The boys growled in rage at his comment while the girls were commenting on how bold he was. Instead of being angry, Rias was intrigued. This caught the Kamen Rider off guard because he thought she would be furious. The smile on her face retains its curves, making him question what was going inside that head of hers.
Her smile got a little wider when she noticed his shock:
"Well then, I guess I have to prove you wrong."
"Good luck with that," He replied.
Yurei was still bewildered that she was smiling and noted to himself to keep an eye on her. He couldn't help but feel that she was a problem, one worse than Sitri.
"Thank you." Rias sarcastically said before sticking out a hand.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Rias Gremory."
Still a bit wary of her, the ravenette accepted it nonetheless and gave the shake a good squeeze.
"Kamui Yurei."
All of sudden, he felt a sudden rise in strength by her hand and narrowed his eyes at her a little.
"You got a firm grip there." He pointed out.
"My father told me that a firm handshake is a good sign of trust." The redhead replies.
"Wise words."
Akeno then stepped forward in front of him with her hands behind her back and with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Kamui-kun. I'm Himejima Akeno."
Yurei simply gave her a nod. Her smile grew a little and slowly leaned forward a bit. She started to look at him with a seductive stare, one which would cause any other boy to be flustered.
But not him.
"I'm more curious about what you look like underneath those glasses of yours."
"..." For some reason, Hikari felt bothered to see her classmate flirting with the transfer student, placing a hand on her chest.
What was this feeling?
Akeno slowly makes her hand up to Yurei's face, almost reaching the glasses, but her attempt is easily thwarted. He grabbed her by the wrist, quickly preventing her from going any further. Everyone was shocked to see such an action, especially Akeno. This was the first time a boy touched her and he did it with force.
"A word of advice, don't try to take my glasses off. They hold a big emotional value for me. I can and will assure you of this: I will not hesitate to use force on anyone who foolishly attempts to do so." He said seriously.
"Ara ara, a forceful type, eh? I never would have guessed." She replied with a pleasing smile and placed a hand on her cheek.
Yurei was confused as to why she was pleased with this and wondered what was wrong with her.
Rias, Sona, and Tsubaki sweated a little because they recognized that smile.
'Oh no, her sadist side is acting up!' They thought.
The dark blue-eyed boy then noticed the girl behind Sona.
"And you are?"
"Shinra Tsubaki. Pleased to meet you."
Both shake hands.
Soon, the warning bell rang, causing everybody to move. Yurei and his friends nodded to each other and started to walk away before he said one thing.
"I guess we see you four around then?" He said, stopping and looking at Rias, now sounding polite this time.
"We will. Later, Kamui." Rias nodded.
He waved to her and turned back, catching up with his friends.
As for the redhead Devil, she headed to class with her friends in the opposite direction.
Little did Yurei know, a small smirk appeared on her face with interest. Rias was beginning a plan to recruit Yurei into her group and she's determined to make it a reality. All since Sona stated that the possibility of him holding a Sacred Gear appeared to be true.
Afternoon...
The final bell rings, signifying the end of the school day.
While most of the kids are gathering their things and preparing to head home, a certain pair have resigned themselves to staying behind, as it is their turn for After School Cleaning Duty. They must make sure that the desks are straightened, the chalkboard is cleaned, dust is beaten out of erasers, and the trash cans are emptied before they can leave.
For some, this assignment may have been given as punishment for getting caught sleeping in class. For others, it may simply be their turn for duties shared amongst all the students in the class or part of Class Rep and club membership responsibilities.
'And I couldn't ask for a better opportunity.'
Yurei mused as he and Hikari were left behind to clean their classroom, both being responsible today for the task in question.
A common trope in school-life stories, After School Cleaning Duty serves to get a single character or small group alone, away from their peers and outside of teacher supervision.
Now that they were properly alone, the new Specter could use this opportunity to confront this girl in regard to the possibility of her owning an Eyecon.
From the corner of his field of vision, he turned to the door while Hikari was distracted with cleaning the windows.
Peeking through a gap in the classroom's door, Yurei could see Yusha giving him a quick thumbs-up before disappearing.
The older Kamui sighed at this, shaking his head in exasperation.
Rather than taking Hikari's Eyecon by force or stealing it, the new Ghost wanted his brother to persuade his classmate by partly telling her the truth.
If he refused to do that, then Yusha himself would come directly into contact with Hikari and try to 'negotiate' with her on his own.
'No wonder he was chosen to be the new Ghost… He can be a lot like Tenkuji Takeru sometimes.' Yurei wondered.
And so, here he was now, all alone with Hikari…
"Thank you for your hard work." The girl told him with a small smile as they both finally finished cleaning their classroom, allowing them to finally leave the school for good. "I hope you didn't mind about having to stick with clean-up duty right on your first day here."
"Nah, it's fine. I would have to do this sooner or later." Yurei casually replies to her with a lazy wave of his hand. "Better early to get used to things here."
"I suppose." She agrees with a nod.
"..."
"..."
An awkward silence soon took over the classroom as the two students were preparing to get their belongings.
"..."
"..."
"Say, Kamijou-"
"Who are you really, Kamui-kun?"
But before the Rider could resume their talk, the ravenette girl cuts him off.
Yurei noticed the tone of her voice changed as Hikari was now looking warily at him.
What?
The hell was she talking about?
"Huh?" He simply tilted his head at her question.
"Stop pretending." She speaks bluntly. "I… I know you're not normal!"
"W-What!? What are you talking about, Kamijou?" He questions back in faux shock, pretending to be worried about her sudden change of attitude.
But what she showed him next actually drained the color from his face.
"Then how do you explain this!?" She was holding the Specter Eyecon, showing it to him.
This girl…!
"Did you just check my bag without permission?!" Yurei demands from her, looking incredulously at her.
Could she have done that when he made a quick trip to the bathroom a few minutes ago?
"I'll apologize as much as you want later," Hikari said curtly. "So… what is the meaning of this? What exactly is this thing?"
In hindsight, Yurei now realized he and Yusha probably shouldn't be walking around carelessly carrying their Eyecons inside a school bag. Someone else could steal them away from the brothers when they were least expecting it.
But what is he supposed to do? It's not like he already knew some cheat code magic that lets him store the items in his possession within a pocket dimension.
Well, at least not yet.
Since the supernatural is real, he might find a way to do that sooner or later.
Still pretending to play dumb, the Rider tries to come up with a reasonable excuse.
"That's my good luck charm." He tells Hikari, trying to pick the Specter Eyecon back from her.
But the girl wasn't having any of it.
She scowled at him.
"You're lying…" The yellow-eyed girl tells before showing something else in her possession.
It was the Himiko Eyecon.
Yurei actually gasped at this.
"Why do you have an Eyecon?" He asks, widening his eyes before he realizes the mistake.
"Aha!" She couldn't help but look triumphant, acting as if having caught him in the act. "I see… So this thing is called an Eyecon."
Now Yurei was scowling at her.
"Look, you have no idea what you actually have in your hands, Kamijou. Those spheres… The Eyecons are dangerous items." He starts speaking heavily, looking her in the eyes. "Your life will be in danger if you stay with them in your possession."
He was expecting the girl to doubt his words.
But much to Yurei's surprise, this seemed to be enough to convince her as she sighed before looking at him with a…
Wait, why is she looking solemnly at him?
"I know." She finally says softly. "It's because of those black monsters, right? You're talking about them, aren't you?"
'The Darklings…' Yurei thinks, narrowing his eyes, as he carefully nods to Hikari.
"I almost got killed by them the other day…" The girl spoke, briefly shivering in fear. "I was scared. But then… Someone stepped in to protect me."
"Someone? Who are you talking about?" Yurei asks in fake curiosity, raising an eyebrow.
This was simply met back with a deadpan stare from her.
"Really? Are you still going to play dumb?" Hikari dryly asks him.
Shit.
Could it be that she…
"I know, Kamui… I know you were the one who protected me… That masked black and blue guy… It's you. You are the Kamen Rider. I heard one of the monsters calling you by that codename."
It wasn't a question. She spoke about a fact to him.
How…!?
Just how exactly did she find out!?
How could he mess up badly this early!?
Then again she must have checked the 'sticker' of his Specter Eyecon and connected the dots somehow.
Inhaling sharply, the Rider questions her with a grim expression:
"So… What do you plan to do now?"
"What do you plan to do with these Eyecons?" She asks back, still looking at him in suspicion.
"That's none of your business." The Rider quickly replies with a frown.
This makes the girl get defensive.
"You know, I could still take them by force from you." He reminds Hikari.
This makes the girl flinch, but she quickly regains her composure.
"You won't do that." She replies.
*Bam!*
Doing the classic kabedon trope, Yurei slams his hand on the wall and traps her against it with his body, stopping her from running away. It's a way to intimidate her, but also a way for him to get physically close to her.
"What makes you sure of that?" He asks, his face a few inches from hers. "You know nothing about me. We just met today."
Hikari then thinks about her strange dreams and the way Specter previously saved her from the Darklings. And when the Rider approached her to ask something after the battle was over, the first question he made was about her well-being.
"You're acting." She says firmly and without hesitation, staring deep into his eyes. "If you really wanted to take these Eyecons from me you would have already done so. We wouldn't even be talking like this if you were serious."
Ah, she got him.
How is she doing this!?
"..." Yurei's eyebrows twitch in annoyance.
Yeah, he really wasn't going to do that. After all, his talk with Yusha was still fresh in his mind. And he didn't want to disappoint his brother either.
And so, the Rider steps away from her.
"You wanted to use this moment to persuade me to give you my pink Eyecon when it was just the two of us." Hikari theorizes.
"..."
She takes his silence as yes.
"Do you need these things… To fight those dark monsters?" She tries to get more information out of him.
"Yeah, that's right." He finally confirms.
"But you are not telling the whole truth." She adds. "You need these eyeballs for something else, don't you?"
Now Yurei was the one to wince.
"I see…" She seemed to have hit a chord.
"The less you know, the better. As they say, ignorance is bliss." Yurei quickly says with a serious expression on his face.
"I'm not giving you this until you tell me everything, Kamui."
"It's for your own good, Kamijou. You have no idea how dangerous it is to carry this thing around."
"Like you did in your bag?" Hikari retorts, a sardonic expression on her face.
"Oi, I'm serious!"
"So am I!"
"Why do you even care that much!?" Yurei eventually yells, his patience finally reaching the limit as this startles Hikari.
Once he realizes what he did, the Rider now finds Hikari looking back at him in shock, completely speechless and on the verge of crying.
He sighs at this, an uncomfortable feeling suddenly taking over him.
"You are crying….?" Yurei speaks softly.
"Is it wrong?" Hikari asks, some tears forming in her eyes.
"No. ...I was just remembering. You remind me of a girl... One who was always crying in the dark trying to sound casual, one foolish little girl."
However, the way he was talking about this person didn't hold any sort of malice. Hikari could feel only sadness from Yurei whenever he was talking about this girl.
Huh?
Hikari was taken aback by this sudden comment.
'Just who exactly is he talking about?' She wondered.
*Crash!*
However, they are suddenly interrupted by the arrival of an undesirable third party.
A Shadow Darkling shows up before them, breaking in through one of the classroom's windows.
'Darklings!' Yurei thinks, preparing himself to fight.
Hikari freaks out as the dark monster focuses on her. She falls on her butt as the evil entity gets closer.
"Eyecons… Give it!" The Shadow roared, ready to slash her with its claw.
"Ahhhh!"
*Smack!*
But Yurei quickly gets in the way, repelling the Darkling with a powerful roundhouse kick into its face. He then adopts a fighting stance before sparing a brief glance at his classmate.
"Fall back!" The Rider orders, soon adopting a wild grin as he faces the Shadow. "The monster we're about to witness is not an opponent that a little girl, who still has much ahead of her, should risk her life against… I'll be good enough!"
'Kamui…' A speechless Hikari imagines Yurei's form being replaced by Kamen Rider Specter.
She then looks at the black and white Eyecon in her possession before tossing it to its rightful owner.
"Here, catch!"
The reincarnated soul easily catches the mystic eyeball without batting an eye, next manifesting the Ghost Driver around his waist, which makes Hikari gasp upon seeing the familiar transformation belt.
[Aye! Batchirimiro~! Batchirimiro~! Batchirimiro~!]
"Henshin!"
[Kaigan! Specter! Ready Go! Kakugo! Doki Doki Ghost!]
Seeing the familiar form of Kamen Rider Specter, Hikari couldn't help but briefly look at her savior in awe.
"Get over here!"
Specter grabs the Shadow by its head before tossing the monster away through the window it came from.
The Rider then follows after its falling form.
A shocked Hikari watched them disappear.
'This is the third floor!'
The sun begins its descent in the sky, casting an orange hue over the serene environment of an animated school courtyard. The serene atmosphere suddenly shatters as two distinctive figures materialize, tension crackling between them.
On one side is Kamen Rider Specter, armored in a haunting suit laced with a spectral blue and black, his demeanor as stoic as the grave. Opposite him, the Shadow Darkling materializes, a sinister silhouette emanating a dark, shadowy aura, with eyes glowing yellow, silently proclaiming its malicious intent.
With a surge of adrenaline, Kamen Rider Specter makes the first move, his body dashing forward with supernatural speed, his Rider Kick aimed squarely at the Darkling. The courtyard is pierced by a shockwave as the Shadow slightly evades, leaving a ripple of shadows in its wake. The monster retaliates with a swirl of darkness, aiming to engulf Specter within the vortex of its malicious energy.
Specter maneuvers skillfully around the corrosive shadows, his outfit flaring.
[Gan Gun Hand!]
He draws his Gan Gun Hand in Gun Mode, spectral energy accumulating in the barrel. A charged blast releases, streaking towards the Shadow. However, the Darkling displays its remarkable agility, the energy blast barely grazing its shadowy form.
In the middle of the courtyard, the two combatants exchange a series of high-speed, brutal blows. The echo of spectral fire and dark energy colliding fills the air, causing a kaleidoscope of light and shadow.
Some students watch, hidden behind the cover of trees and buildings, eyes wide with a mixture of fear and awe. And amongst them stood members of the Student Council and the ORC, taking notes of the fight taking place before their eyes.
The air is tense, the clash of the otherworldly forces threatening to destroy the tranquility of the school.
Kamen Rider Specter is relentless, his every move a dance between life and death, his spectral abilities contrasting vividly against the pervasive darkness of the Darkling. The Shadow, on the other hand, is equally relentless, its form a whirling dervish of shadows, its claws seeking to tear through the spectral armor of its foe.
With a deafening roar, the monster of darkness lunges forward, the air around it saturated with a corrupting power. It's a race against time, a dance between light and shadow. Specter moves with supernatural agility, his form a blur as he dodges the onslaught of the dark energies.
He raises his Gan Gun Hand, the spectral energy within it coalescing, its glow intensifying to a flash of dazzling brilliance. The Monster of Darkness, sensing the impending threat, tries to retaliate with a surge of darkness. The shadows and the spectral energy collide, causing a spectacle of light and shadow, a cosmic battle between opposing entities.
Specter's determination is unwavering, his focus sharp. The Gan Gun Hand vibrates with spectral energy, ready to release its cataclysmic power. He points the weapon directly at the heart of the Shadow.
"Take that!" The Rider declares, his voice a resonant echo in the chaotic battlefield.
The trigger is pulled.
A concentrated beam of spectral light pierces the air, a torrent of ethereal energy aimed squarely at the monster. The atmosphere is filled with a blinding brilliance, the energies reverberating around them.
The monster lets out a deafening roar, its form disintegrating under the relentless onslaught of the spectral beam. The shadows wail and dissipate, consumed by the purifying light emanating from the Gan Gun Hand. It's a symphony of destruction, the darkness crumbling away, revealing the creature's core, a pulsating orb of corrupted energy.
The battlefield is illuminated by the destruction of the Darkling, its form reduced to wisps of shadows, banished by the unrelenting power of the Gan Gun Hand.
"Fascinating."
From their spots, the [King]s of the two Devil peerages got interested in the powers of the black and blue Kamen Rider.
Rias, her crimson hair a vivid contrast against her milky complexion, leans forward, her azure eyes sparkling with interest.
"His ability to wield and manipulate energy is quite fascinating. Such a power could be a valuable asset in my peerage." she muses.
Sona, the disciplined and intellectual president of the Student Council, responds with a nod, her analytical mind already delving into the possibilities.
"Indeed, his combat proficiency and the power of his weapon could provide strategic advantages in our endeavors to maintain control of Kuoh Town." she states, her calm voice carrying an undercurrent of anticipation.
Akeno, her seductive demeanor concealing her analytical prowess, raises an eyebrow,
"The way he eradicates those monsters… It's quite enthralling. Imagine if we could harness such power."
On the other side, Tsubaki Shinra, Sona's reliable [Queen], her eyes narrowed thoughtfully, remarks,
"His agility and resilience in the face of overwhelming darkness are notable. Aligning with him could fortify our defenses against our enemies."
The tranquil atmosphere shatters anew as the shadows coalesce, the air growing dense with malicious intent. More Shadows emerge from the tendrils of darkness, their forms imposing, eyes gleaming with a renewed ferocity. The air pulses with an unspoken vow of vengeance, the silence punctuated by the collective, menacing presence of the shadow entities.
Kamen Rider Specter, feeling the mounting tension, grips his Gan Gun Hand tighter. The hauntingly serene glow contrasts vividly with the encroaching shadows, the battlefield now a palette of light and darkness intertwining.
The Shadows, unified in their resolve to avenge their fallen comrade, move as one, their shadows intermingling, forming a tapestry of darkness. They launch forward, a barrage of shadowy claws and dark energy aimed at the spectral warrior.
[Kaigan! Ore! Let's Go! Kakugo! Gho-Gho-Gho-Ghost! GO! GO! GO! GO!]
But, the air shivers, a new presence unveiling, the embodiment of the ethereal – Kamen Rider Ghost arrives as he lands next to his brother, his black armor radiating a mystic orange glow, his eyes, the windows to the eternal, gleaming.
The reunion of the spectral comrades ignites a flurry of friendly banter amidst the chaos, their camaraderie a beacon in the encompassing darkness.
"There you are! About time you showed up!" Specter tells Ghost.
[Gan Gun Saber!]
Ghost, his weapon at the ready after being summoned by his Driver, grins beneath his helmet.
"You couldn't wait for me, Nii-san? I thought we were in this together!" His form moves fluidly, a dance between swings as he engages the Shadows with his Gan Gun Saber in Blade Mode.
"Always the dramatic entrance!" His older brother replies.
Specter's movements mirror Ghost's, their combined energies intertwining, creating a symphony of spectral resonance.
Their banter continues, a blend of camaraderie and light-heartedness amidst the pulsating darkness.
"What about you? Trying to grab all the glory, weren't you, Nii-san?" Ghost teases, his every strike a ballet of spiritual energy, his spectral abilities consuming the shadows around him.
Specter, his spectral light contrasting vividly against the shadows, retorts playfully.
"You know me too well, Ghost! But now that you're here, let's show these guys what we can do!"
His Gan Gun Hand releases a cascade of spectral energy, the ethereal light colliding with the shadow entities.
Their combined energies create a maelstrom of light and shadow, the battlefield resonating with the collision of eternal realms. The Shadows, facing the united front of the spectral warriors, wail in despair, their forms dissipating under the relentless onslaught of spectral brilliance.
Kamen Rider Ghost, his ethereal presence a beacon in the engulfing darkness, wields his Gan Gun Saber with unparalleled mastery, the Blade Mode glowing with an otherworldly brilliance.
With fluid grace, Ghost moves amidst the Shadows, his every step a dance between realms. The Gan Gun Saber, a harmonious extension of his being, slices through the air, its ethereal blade singing a song of destruction.
"Take that!" Ghost proclaims, his voice a harmonic echo in the chaotic symphony.
The Darklings recoil, their forms wailing in the agony of impending doom. They launch forward, a barrage of darkness aimed at the spectral warrior.
But Ghost, his ethereal agility transcending the boundaries of time and space, dodges with spectral precision, his blade cutting through the shadows with devastating accuracy.
The Gan Gun Saber's brilliance intensifies, its ethereal energy converging into the blade. The air pulsates with a celestial resonance as Ghost strikes, his blade carving through the Shadows, releasing torrents of purifying light. The shadows shriek, their forms disintegrating, consumed by the relentless onslaught of eternal brilliance.
Ghost's movements are a ballet of destruction, his form intertwining with the ethereal light, the Gan Gun Saber creating arcs of radiant energy. Each stroke is a cascade of spectral brilliance, the blade severing the shadows, banishing them into the abyss of eternity.
The dark monsters, overwhelmed by the spectral warrior's celestial dance, crumble into the shadows, their wails echoing in the silence of their demise. The Gan Gun Saber, having fulfilled its destiny, dims its brilliance, the ethereal energy within it quiescent once more.
Ghost stands amidst the remnants of shadows, his form radiating a serene glow, his eyes gleaming with the eternal light.
By the time the pair of Kamen Riders were done with the Shadows, Hikari finally arrived at the school courtyard to join the other students witnessing the epic battle.
She was relieved upon seeing that Specter was fine.
But the moment was short-lived since the fight was not over yet…
The battlefield, still echoing with the remnants of the spectral dance, suddenly trembles, the air growing dense with a newfound malevolence.
A portal, the very fabric of darkness itself, materializes, the shadows within it pulsating with an ancient and formidable power. The ground quakes as a colossal entity begins to manifest, the air around it vibrating with its ominous presence.
"Crap… What's next!?" Ghost questioned as he and his brother prepared themselves for the next enemy.
"Don't let your guard down! This is giving me the stage boss vibe." Specter advises his partner.
A titan of shadows and a harbinger of despair emerges from the black portal, its form colossal, shadows intertwined with its very essence. The surroundings are eclipsed by its towering presence, its sickly yellow eyes gleaming with eternal malice, staring down at the spectral warriors, Kamen Rider Ghost and Specter.
The new monster is a massive, muscular, humanoid entity with black skin. Its legs are rather short and its feet are very thin and curl upward. Its arms are quite long, and it has two relatively small, twisted wings on its back. There is a large, heart-shaped hole in the Darkling's abdominal area, which penetrates straight through from the front to the back. Its head is covered in dozens of twisted, black tentacles. Only its small, glowing yellow eyes are visible.
This is the Darkling known as Darkside.
A palpable tension engulfs the battlefield, the magnitude of the emerging entity sending ripples of intimidation through the air.
Ghost and Specter, usually embodiments of resolve and spectral brilliance, feel a momentary flicker of hesitation, their spirits shadowed by the massive entity before them.
The silence is a prelude to a symphony of darkness, the colossal Darkling radiating an aura of malevolent power.
The Kamen Riders, their armors gleaming in defiance, grip their weapons tighter, the ethereal energies within them flaring up, their resolve solidifying against the looming darkness.
Specter, his voice a whisper in the overwhelming silence, murmurs.
"This darkness... it's massive...!" The spectral aura within him dances, intertwining with his revived soul, ready to face the encompassing shadows.
Ghost, his eyes gleaming with a strong light, responds with a silent nod, his spirit intertwining with the ethereal energies.
"But we will not falter. We are the light against the shadows, the hope in the face of despair!" His Gan Gun Saber radiates a serene brilliance, a beacon in the engulfing darkness.
The standoff is a moment frozen in eternity, the colossal Darkside creature towering over the spectral warriors, the air resonating with the intertwining energies of light and shadow. The silence is a whisper of the impending symphony, the dance between eternal spirits and ancient shadows about to commence, the battlefield a canvas waiting to be painted with the rhythm of battle.
The students, witnesses to the unfolding spiritual battle, are paralyzed with a mix of awe and terror, their bodies frozen as they stare up at the immense being of shadows.
A myriad of emotions permeates the air; whispers and gasps create a symphony of human vulnerability.
"Wh-what is that thing?!" a student's voice quivers at the sight of the Darkside, her eyes widened in unadulterated fear, body trembling as she clutches the hand of her companion.
"It's gigantic… so much evil…" another student murmurs, his voice a whisper of despair, his face paled by the terrifying sight before him, eyes almost begging for hope amidst the engulfing shadows.
The courtyard, usually a realm of laughter and camaraderie, is now drowned in an oppressive silence, broken only by murmurs of horror and fear. The students, clustered together, their faces mirrors of their haunting thoughts, can't help but release intermittent gasps and murmurs.
"Are we… Are we going to die?"
"No, someone… someone has to do something…" A voice choked out, clinging to the shred of hope within, eyes fixed on the masked spiritual warriors, silently pleading for salvation.
The fear is palpable, the shadows cast by the colossal Darkling creating a tangible aura of terror. The students, their bodies glued to their spots, are a tapestry of human emotions, their faces painted with the shadows of despair and flickers of hope.
"Please… Kamen Riders… save us…"
Hikari says with her eyes closed, her whisper resonates amidst the stifling silence, a silent prayer ascending into the heavens, hoping to reach the spirits of light amidst the looming darkness.
The eyes of the mystic warriors, Ghost and Specter, catch the fleeting glimmers of hope within the sea of terrified faces, their spirits intertwining with the silent prayers, their resolve fortified by the unspoken bonds with the trembling souls around them.
The air vibrates with an unseen energy, the eternal dance between hope and despair, light and shadow about to paint the canvas of destiny.
The Kuoh Academy Devils find themselves shrouded in an unprecedented shadow, the air around them heavy with a formidable aura.
Rias Gremory, her crimson hair usually a vivid contrast to her surroundings, was now a still figure under the looming darkness. Her azure eyes, wells of eternal realms, are widened, a flicker of uncertainty whispering through them.
"This entity… its power is overwhelming…", her voice, usually a harmonious melody of confidence and authority, trembles ever so slightly, revealing the shadow cast on her eternal spirit.
Sona Sitri, the composed and analytical mind, feels a churning unease, her analytical gaze fixated on the looming entity, her thoughts a whirlpool of calculations and unknown variables.
"It's...massive. The darkness…it's almost tangible", her voice, a whispered echo in the engulfing silence, reflects the turbulence within her composed demeanor.
The elegant confines of Kuoh Academy are a realm of whispered concerns and unvoiced fears, the Devils, beings of ancient powers, shrouded in the shadows of the colossal Darkling. The silence is a symphony of unspoken emotions, their faces mirror the intertwining spirits within them, their eyes flickering with the eternal conflict between fear and resolve.
"Can the masked warriors… Can they overcome such an entity?"
The whispered question reverberates through the silence, the Devils, their thoughts a silent wish to the spiritual guardians in the impending battle between life and death.
The looming colossal entity, the Darkside Darkling, pulsates with a formidable aura of darkness, its presence a challenge to the very fabrics of existence. The forms of Ghost and Specter respond to this overwhelming darkness with a convergence of their ethereal energies, their Heroic Eyecons pulsating with an ancient resonance within them.
Ghost's being illuminates with a crimson fervent glow, the Musashi Eyecon in his possession intertwining with his spirit.
"I invoke the spirit of Musashi! Let the warrior's path guide my blade!"
*Click!*
He inserts the red Eyecon into his Ghost Driver, summoning the Musashi Parka Ghost as it flies around him.
[Kaigan! Musashi! (Biwa chord) Kettou! Zubatto! Cho kengou! (Biwa chords and slashing sounds)]
The voice is a harmonious blend of resolve and hope, the transformation enveloping him in a cascade of ethereal brilliance as the Musashi parka is adorned by the Kamen Rider.
Accessed through the Musashi Ghost Eyecon, this form bears the Persona Sword Master helmet with the Face Dual Wield faceplate.
This is Kamen Rider Ghost - Musashi Damashii.
The Gan Gun Saber transforms into its Nitouryu Mode, the dual blades gleaming with the combined spirits of Ghost and Musashi, a symbol of unyielding resolve and spectral brilliance.
As for Specter, he merges with the Edison Damashii.
"The brilliance of Edison merges with my spiritual essence! Let the illumination of invention banish the shadows!"
*Click!*
He inserts the yellow Eyecon into his Ghost Driver, summoning the Edison Parka Ghost.
[Kaigan! Edison! (Electrical voltage crackle) Elec! Hirameki! Hatsumei-oh~! (Electricity buzzing)]
His being radiates the combined intelligence and ethereal essence, a convergence of light against the looming darkness.
Accessed through the Edison Ghost Eyecon, this form bears the Persona Invento helmet with the Face Light-bulb face plate.
This is Kamen Rider Specter - Edison Damashii.
'So this is how they use the Eyecons…' Hikari thinks as she stares at the Himiko Eyecon, wondering if she could use it in the same way the Riders are using the other Heroic Eyecons.
"Let's go, Nii-san!" Ghost tells his brother.
"Right! Bring it on!" Specter says back as both of them charged towards the massive Darkling.
Ghost, his essence one with the warrior Miyamoto Musashi, moves like a spectral breeze, his dual blades carving the air with an ethereal dance.
"Feel the piercing light of a warrior's resolve!"
With each flash of his blades, waves of red spectral energy emanate, a harmonious dance of light clashing against the massive limbs of the lurking Darkside, tendrils of shadows recoiling at the touch of eternal brilliance.
A surge of electric energy radiates from Specter, the illumination of Edison merging with his spectral essence, releasing torrents of sparking brilliance.
"Darkness shall cower before the eternal brilliance of invention!"
Beams of electric light shoot forth, interlacing with the shadows, sparking a ballet of inventive intelligence against the ancient darkness.
Darkside, the harbinger of ancient shadows, counterattacks with resonating roars, releasing whirlwinds of darkness, the shadows whispering tales of eternal despair. The air vibrates with contrasting energies, the darkness trying to engulf the radiant spirits, an eternal struggle painted on the realm of existence.
His Gan Gun Hand raised, Specter releases torrents of thunderous energy intertwined with mystic symbols, the magic a harmonious dance with electric brilliance.
The Darkside recoils, its formidable presence quivering under the relentless barrage. The electric arcs, a dance of thunder and magic, push against the shadows, the air resonating with the clash of eternal enemies.
The air is charged with electric vibrations, the thunder attacks painting the shadows with flashes of brilliance, and the magic infuses the atmosphere with ancient resonances.
"The spirit of the warrior… shall pierce through the eternal shadows!" Ghost's proclamation resonates with each powerful strike, the slashes a relentless dance against the looming entity.
The blades of Nitoryu Mode, charged with the harmonious energy of spectral essence and warrior's spirit, strike the colossal Darkside, their slashes a symphony of resounding impacts. Each slash is a radiant dance against the dense shadows, the blades carving through the ancient darkness, releasing flashes of brilliant light.
The Darkside, the towering embodiment of ancient shadows, writhes under the relentless assault, its form quivering with each radiant slash. The wounds, illuminated by the spectral brilliance, are a dance of light amidst the engulfing darkness.
With a resounding roar, the Darkside's massive fist descends, striking the ground with a colossal impact.
The impact releases a mild shockwave, radiating through the area, and from the dark pool formed, shadows emerge, their forms a dance of whispering darkness, ready to join the eternal battle.
The Darkside raises its colossal hand, scooping up an orb of engulfing darkness.
The orb, charged with malevolent energy, splits into countless smaller orbs, each a whispering entity of darkness, raining from the sky, their descent a ballet of looming shadows.
The air vibrates with the dance of homing missiles, the Darkside creating a force of malevolent energy within the heart-shaped hole in its body, releasing the dark missiles, each a whispering entity of homing darkness, seeking the Kamen Riders.
*Boom!* *Boom!*
"Argh!" Ghost and Specter cry as they are blasted away.
But the Kamen Riders refused to give up, they would keep fighting until the end as they recovered.
"There's so much at stake here! We can't give up!" Ghost declares as they quickly get up.
"Right! Let's go through with this until the very end!" Specter adds, agreeing with him.
And so, the masked duo decided to go right away for their Special Finishers.
Ghost scans the Gan Gun Saber with the Musashi Eyecon, and a red Omega Seal manifests behind him.
[Dai Kaigan! Musashi!]
Specter does the same with his Gan Gun Hand, adjusting it into its [Rod Mode] before scanning its Energy Eye Crest with the Edison Eyecon. A yellow Omega Seal appears in response.
[Dai Kaigan! Edison!]
[Omega Slash!]
Ghost produces a giant x-shaped red energy slash with his dual blades, sending the strike towards the Darkside.
*Slash!*
The Special Finisher is effective, cutting away the arms of the giant Darkling.
[Omega Smash!]
Specter jumps high, his personal weapon creates a large energy projection of the Crush Fingers, coated in yellow electricity, as the Rider strikes the dark monster with it.
*Smack!* *Crash!*
The attack is powerful enough to smack down the giant creature, making it fall hard on the ground and leaving a large crater on the surface.

[I'm looking for ideas to make a matador/bull-fighter-themed Eyecon. Does anyone reading this have any ideas for that?]
[Should I make Issei a Devil in this story or not? It doesn't matter to the overall plot what route he ends up taking in regards to this.]
Review Time!
Guest DCDgojira: Thanks! Glad you liked it! Hope you also enjoy this story!
I won't use Stan Lee as a Heroic Eyecon because I will be already using Ishinomori, who is basically an author like him. And the creator of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai even has a canon Eyecon made after him.
While I plan to make my other Kamen Rider stories have crossover arcs between them, I have no idea yet about what to do with this story. Maybe I will also include it later in the crossover arcs. Or maybe not.
Thanks for sharing your ideas for my original Kamen Riders.
All of the Ghost-themed Kamen Riders that are going to appear in this story are going to be OCs that will be introduced in later chapters.
The only ones that I probably don't plan to include in this fic are Kanon Specter(Because I don't have anyone named Kanon in this story. At least not yet) and Zero Ghost.
Yeah, the idea about Hikari mainly using female Eyecons seems interesting. I could make use of that.
That idea involving King Arthur and Merlin's souls seems like something definitely worth exploring later. Thanks!
Not sure about giving a shamisen to Poltergeist though.
What animal would you recommend for a Ghost Gadget? And what kind of device would you suggest?
Wow, I have seen the drawing you made for this story! It's amazing!
Kurogami Yaiba: I hope you also enjoy this story!
I thought it wouldn't be appropriate to use Kanon Specter because Hikari isn't Specter's sister nor is her first name Kanon.
bloodyredrose1994: OK, maybe you're right. I will have to check the Light Novels when I get the chance.
Yes, I will be using the movie-exclusive Eyecons. Even the Extremer Driver, which requires 100 Heroic Eyecons(another reason why I'm literally using 100 Eyecons in this story).
Guest: Kamen Rider Necrom will be another OC. Still thinking about his overall details and backstory though.
kamenrider13489: OK, I will try.
antrenor75: OK, I will try to do that.
GUEST: Here's the new chapter!
yogaratw607: I only picked Jack the Ripper for now. I honestly don't know much about the other characters you mentioned. Can you DM me later with details about them?
Not sure yet about what I'm gonna do with Issei. Following his canon death and reincarnation to Devilkind will be pretty predictable, but I have no idea about how to make his power develop as a human either. Do you have any suggestions?
Toa Solaric: I will try to go back to my older stories when I get enough motivation to continue writing them. I promise.
I will mostly go with the idea that the original 15 Heroic Eyecons will not need to be 'created' in the DxD world because they are the same ones used by Tenkuji Takeru and his friends, and also have memories of interacting with him and the other original Ghost Kamen Riders. The ones that didn't appear in the previous chapter are simply hidden somewhere, waiting to be found by someone.
The Eyecon creation process will be mostly focused on creating the other canon ones that were never used, such as Shakespeare, Columbus and Galileo's Eyecons. Other than that, I will focus on the original ones I came up with to use in this story.
The way Yusha/Ghost and Yurei/Specter will get most of their upgrades will be obvious. But I hope I manage to surprise you with the way they gain some of them.
dariuscrawford482: Not sure about how I plan to explore this route. This is something that I will have possibly reserved for just Yusha/Ghost. As for Yurei, he will be having a romance with another OC.
1971kr: The Riders and the Devils will originally have opposing sides, but I plan to make them later get along.
What you said about [Ether] makes sense. However, I believe that the concept of arrogance isn't something that affects a species as a whole. But rather, some individuals. It's not like I'm not trying to make every human, who manages to use this power, brag about it later to some of the supernatural beings later.
silverstudent: Ok, thanks for the ideas. I will try to make use of them later.
Austin: Thanks for these awesome ideas! I will try to make use of them later.
You also actually raised a valid point regarding Death itself. Maybe I will later explore this deeper as the story progresses.
barlckxs: I will. He is already on my 100 Heroic Eyecons list available in my profile area.
Rey: No, I plan her to become an original Kamen Rider that goes by the codename of Poltergeist. Yes, I plan to pair her up with Yurei. I will make Hikari the main user of the Himiko Eyecon. Please, keep using English to post your reviews. Otherwise, I won't reply to them.
UnseenUrge: Thanks! I hope you also enjoyed this chapter.
Haxorus knight: Thanks for offering some of your ideas! Maybe I will be able to use them in later chapters.
So, what do you guys think? Please give me some reviews if possible.
