Re-Introducing: Chris Evans (Avengers: Infinity War) as Captain John Smith
Elsewhere in the diner, the Queen's entrance didn't go unnoticed by either of Emma's former cellmates awaiting their execution, as they looked up from the drinks the blonde had supplied for them after their time-travel.
"That's the Evil Queen" the woman stated in fear of seeing the woman that almost killed her, making the man follow her to see the woman himself as anger coursed through his body.
"It's okay" Emma tried to reassure her former cellmates "She's different now. She's not the same person anymore. You'll see. I'll- Just stay here" she instructs them before making her way to the former Queen.
"I'm not staying here" the man stood from his seat slamming his porcelain mug on the counter "She killed my wife in cold blood".
"Mate-"Hook tried to stop the man before he storms out back, the pirate looked to the woman "Stay here" before going after the man.
Hook found him just around the corner with his forehead against the wall of the diner with his eyes tightly shut in complete anguish at the thought of the woman responsible for the death of his wife just a few feet away. The blonde he now knew as Emma insisted on him re-meeting the Queen, he just couldn't do it again, not after their last conversation. He didn't care how much she had supposed to have changed, she was the same woman that killed his wife and gloated about it to his face.
"Mate" Hook started "I understand it must be hard, but the woman has changed" he tried to tell the man "she and her assassin" he added.
"Assassin?" John repeated looking at the pirate.
"Aye" Hook confirmed with a nod "The Queen and her Assassin turned new leaf's.." John didn't hear what else the pirate said. He only knew one assassin, it had to be her.
"Amy" he whispered. Pushing past the pirate he came back into seating area to see the woman he loved at the door about to leave.
"Amy!" he yelled across the room hoping to gain her attention. Praying to whoever was listening that this wasn't some cruel joke being made on him as he pushed his way through the small crowd that had gathered seeing the first reunion.
Stumbling into the middle of the room the woman at the door finally turned around to confirm what had been dreaming of ever since he had woken up near the Forbidden Fortress with no memory of his life before.
The love of his life looked at him with those same emerald eyes that he fell in love with for the first time in years. She hadn't changed a bit as his name came out of the assassin's lips.
"John" his name slipped through her lips like a prayer as she looked upon the man that had been on her mind for the last decade of her life.
Forcing her feet forward the assassin didn't stop until she felt two familiar strong arms wrap around her waist to take her off the ground like she weighed nothing, holding her tight against his body in an embrace she had been dreaming of for years.
Emma and Regina watched the scene in stunned silence as the redhead readily wrapped her smaller arms around his head like she had done a thousand times before as her first love pushed his face into her neck.
Placing the woman back on the ground, he pulled away from her only to hold her face between his large strong hands before quickly capturing the assassin's lips in a passionate kiss as tears of joy ran from the redhead's eyes before they pulled away from the other.
"It's really you" he breathed out in disbelief as he broke away from his wife's lips as his own tears that fell down his cheeks stroking the soft skin over her face with his thumbs "I-I thought" his voice broke from the emotion.
"Me too" she choked out reaching up with her own hand to touch his beard covered jaw "Me too Cap" she repeated placing her head against his.
Hesitantly stepping away from his best friend Tom watched in a mix of shock and confusion at his mother embracing the strange man that looked like he had just stepped out of the Enchanted Forest.
"Mom?" her son's voice broke the moment away from her first love as they both looked straight at him.
Beckoning her son forward, she kept a strong vice grip on John's arm as the teen followed her instruction taking her hand in his and she turned him toward the strange man that Emma had brought back from the past.
"It's Tom" she tells her husband "Our Tom" she clarifies.
"Really?" he questioned the woman in front of him seeing the teen that stood next to her. He was still expecting to see the three-year old that wouldn't go to sleep without his mother's voice to soothe him, not this nearly grown man before him. But then he saw the resemblance he held with his mother. Her nose, her chin. This was him right down the messy brown curls that refused to tamed.
A laugh left the Captain's lips as he grasped his son's shoulder in his hand before pulling both his wife and son into an embrace that confirmed their reunion.
Forcing herself to look away from the picture of the family torn apart by a force that once push them together, she looked towards the woman responsible for bringing an abrupt end to the beginning of her's and Amelia's happy ending.
"You" she spat at the blonde "You did this?" she angrily accused the Savior.
"I just wanted to save his life" she tried to reason with the woman. only to go unheard as she glanced back to the happy family. That should be her.
"You're just like your mother. Never thinking of the consequences".
"I didn't know".
"Of course, you didn't" Regina bit back angrily but manged to curb her anger to continue "Well, you'd just better hope to hell, you didn't bring anything else back" Regina spat at her before heading for the exit.
Outside Regina made it to the archway where barely ten minutes ago they had shared a kiss that had quelled any anxiety they might have had before walking into the party as the couple they had always wanted to be.
How could everything change in so little time?.
She was taken out of the memory as she heard Granny's diner open and close again behind her.
"Regina.." the voice confirmed it to be the one that had shattered the memory she was just revisiting in her head to be the one responsible for the reunion inside.
"Not now, Swan" she responded without turning around.
"I'm sorry" the blonde started "When I brought John and Marian back, I didn't know who either of them were. I didn't intend to cause you pain" she stressed to the woman.
That made Regina turn to face Emma "Well, your intentions really don't matter. Because once again, I've felt the brunt of heroism. Always the villain..." she scoffed "Even when I'm not".
"What was I supposed to do?".
"Well, you were dumb enough to travel through time. Maybe you should have left things well enough alone".
"I am not gonna apologize for saving someone's life let alone two" Emma argued with the former Evil Queen.
"He was to die anyway. What did it matter?".
"What mattered was he was a person. And... Whatever he did, he didn't deserve to die".
"Well, maybe he did" she argued.
"Well, you would know. I saved him from you".
Regina paused before retorting "The woman who did that, that was the person I was, not the person I am. I worked very hard to build a future... A future that's now gone".
"You don't know that" Emma tried to reason with her. She knew Amelia well enough to know how hard she had fought to be with the woman in front of her.
"Well, I know it's complicated enough that her dead husband is back" she barked at the blonde.
"Regina, for that, I'm sorry. If there's anything I can do to help... " Emma went to continue only for Regina to interrupt the blonde.
"Swan... The more you try to help... The worse my life becomes".
The pair were interrupted when the diner door opened to Robin in the doorway trying to coax his wife outside to meet the woman she thought as evil. The small family were followed out by Amelia and John.
"Marian, please, meet her" Robin he encourages her "She's not at all what you think" Amelia followed Robin and Marian holding Roland's hand down the path until they reached Regina.
Regina couldn't look away from Amelia as she saw John come up behind her, his strong form towered her slimmer frame as she moved closer to the former Queen desperately needing to talk to her. Once they had pulled out of the family embrace she suddenly heard the door open and close making her look at the spot where her soulmate was only to see it empty.
"Regina" Amelia breathed out her name "We need to talk about this" Regina could see the conflict in her eyes as she pleaded with the woman she still loved.
Marian looked between Amelia and Regina to see how the woman she followed orders from in the Enchanted Forest and the woman that almost killed her "Wait, were you two... Are you two together?" making the Captain take notice of how his wife was acting around the Evil Queen.
"Marian, please" Robin warned the woman as he tried to help out his friend in her time of need.
Marian looked to Amelia, who hadn't given Robins wife a second look "You and the Evil Queen? Did you let her near my son? Do you know what she's done? The terror that she's inflicted?".
"You seem to forget I helped her inflict some of those terrors" Amelia glowered at the woman quickly coming to her soulmate's aid.
"Amy" John warned his wife as Mary Margaret with her infant son and David joined the party outside with Henry, Hook and Tom trailing behind.
"Is everything okay?" Mary Margaret voiced trying to defuse the growing tension.
"Well, no one's been incinerated or stabbed yet, so that's a good sign" David observed as the couple made their way towards Regina. The Charming couple stopped next to their daughter as they looked towards the former Queen with concern.
"Regina, you all right?" Mary Margaret asked her former stepmother as she gently bounced her infant son her arms.
Marian looked towards the former princess in disbelief "What... What is wrong with you people? W-why are you talking to her? Don't you know who she is?".
"Mom, what's going on?" Tom asked the red head in concern only to go ignored as the assassin flinched at Marian's next words.
"She's a monster" Regina's hand flinched at Marian's words, but she forced it down as Amelia turned on the woman that called her a monster.
"No, she's…" Emma when to defend the brunette but faltered seeing Regina make her leave. Emma went to follow her down the street only for Hook to stop her.
"Uh, no good has ever come of pushing that woman. Give her space" Killian tells the blonde.
"Yeah, but it's what she does in that space I'm worried about" David added.
"Watch your damn mouth or find your tongue on the floor" Amelia stepped up to the woman she used to know in the Enchanted Forest.
"Amelia easy…" the red head heard Mary Margaret try to temper the former assassin.
"You're no better than her Widow, why Robin and I ever took orders from you of all people we don't know" Marian picked Roland up "Your poison" she spat at the redhead.
John looked between his wife and Marian as the word that he had heard whispered hundreds of times slip through his cell mates' mates directed straight to his wife. She didn't even flinch at the name being used on her. She was the Black Widow.
Her fists clenched to her sides as she tried to calm the rising anger in her veins at the woman's gall after all these years "Amy that's enough" John tied to reason with his wife like this.
"Robin" she says to the thief without taking her eye off the woman cradling Roland to her chest "Why don't you take your wife and son back to the forest. She must be tired after her long trip through time to get here" Robin nodded in agreement seeing the anger being the green eyes he once fell for, gently taking his wife's forearm to guide her away from the angry assassin.
"Amy what the hell was that?" John spoke up snatching her forearm in his right hand, the others seemed to jump as the man's sudden actions towards his wife as she whirled around to face her husband letting him see the anger and hate that never existed now in her eyes before.
"There's a lot for you to catch up on honey" she sweetly said to the man before tugging her arm out of his strong grip.
"Why don't we all go home" David announced as the voice of reason "it's been a long night for everyone" the redhead didn't need to be told twice as she started to head towards her apartment calling after her son, who followed his mother obediently giving a meek smile to Henry that was mirrored by his friend.
"Aye, a very good idea your highness " Hook said as he turned to John who was left watching his wife away "Why don't you follow your wife and son home mate" Hook suggested to the man.
The Charming family watched the man turn to the pirate with a dark look on his face "Don't think for a minute I don't remember who you are what you did. Mate" he mockingly called the pirate stepping towards the leather clad man, managing to tower over the pirate not only in height but in size.
"And what exactly did I do?" Hook challenged the man keeping his voice level as much as he could as he craned his neck up to meet his eye.
"You really think I wouldn't recognize you again. I know it was you that brought that man onto my ship that night" he glowered at the man as the Charming family watched Amelia's husband closely.
"Aye, and your wife made it her life's mission since to make sure I didn't forget " Hook tells him "We've both made mistake over the years. One of mine was my part in that night".
"John" her stern voice made the Captain look to see his stood on the other side of the white picket fence with his son with her "Leave him be".
"Stay away from my family" he warned the pirate before stepping away to follow his wife and son as the pirate followed him with his eyes.
"You don't think they'll become evil again" Henry voiced for the family at Regina and Amelia's departure "They can't. They've both come too far".
Emma wrapped her around his back in comfort "I hope you're right, kid".
The next morning Amelia woke up in her own bed, not in the sweet afterglow she was looking forward to after a night with the woman she loved. But alone with the other side of her bed cold and empty as the event of the previous night replayed in her head with a grimace that was quickly replaced with sadness and confusion.
She had her husband back. Why wasn't she happy? This is all she ever wanted for years; her husband and son under the same roof and alive.
With a frustrated sigh she got up and tied her dressing gown around her body as she left the bubble of her bedroom to enter the adjoining living room of her apartment to see John sat on the sofa without a shirt on and the pajama pants she had managed to find and Tom busy in the kitchen making breakfast in the small kitchen.
"Morning" John greeted her from the sofa his eyes seemed to light up seeing her in the doorway of her room. He wanted to join her, but she told him it wasn't a good idea. This was strange for them both.
"Hi" she greeted softly before clearing her throat gaining Tom's attention, seeing he had his headphones in his ear's. Something that he discovered in this realm was its music, he loved it.
Pulling out the white earpiece from his ear he looked towards his mother with a smile "I was thinking we should hit the store's and get you some clothes from this world since you're going to be here. Tom needs a few things for school. Maybe get some lunch kill two bird's sort of thing"
"Cool" Tom called out before putting his headphones back in and turning back to making breakfast.
John continued to look at her listening "I also thought we could go find Robin and Marian in the woods, clear the air a little after last night".
"Sounds good Amy" he says standing up and stepping towards her, she didn't move as he leaned down to leave a chaste kiss to her lips. She couldn't bring herself to reciprocate the kiss as she turned her head away as soon as he pulled away.
"You should shower first, you smell like Forest still. Tom will can show you how to use it" she said before quickly retreating into her room shutting the door in his face. Leaning back on the door she stroked her lips with her thumb. She felt nothing. There was a day his lips would send sparks throughout her body no matter how innocent. But now. Nothing. Not even a shiver.
What was she going to do?
Leaving Tom and John in her apartment as she made her way over to the Mayor's office knowing that's where the former Queen would be. She needed to talk to her. On any other day she knew she would just be able to walk in, but things were different now as she knocked on the wooden frame of the glass paneled door before hearing the sound of the former Queen's heels from the other side of the door.
Opening the door to her office the former Queen was taken aback to see the redhead that had been playing on the mind the whole night, waiting on the other side wearing a brown leather biker jacket that looked a little worn withe dark tank top underneath paired with a set of black leggings and brown knee high boots.
"You got a minute?" was the first thing that left the redhead's lips as she looked upon the woman that still made her heart hammer in her chest. The major silently nodded moving aside to let the redhead through before closing the door behind her the pair both giving off nervous energy as the former stiffly invited the latter to take a seat on the sofa. Regina took a seat opposite her putting as much distance as she could between them as she waited for whatever the redhead was going to say.
"I wanted to talk about last night" Amelia was the one to start the conversation.
"What about last night exactly, when John came back or Marian".
"Both" the red head answered "I wanted to say sorry for what Marian said to you".
"Why are you sorry? Everything Marian said was true" she tells the woman next to her "I am a monster".
"You are far from the person you were. And if you're the monster what was I exactly? Everyone but me seems to forget about the things I did, even when I wasn't with you".
"Maybe you don't know me as well as you think" Regina softly argued.
"I know you better" Amelia corrected her love as her hand entered the space between them resting on the sofa desperately wanting to touch her "Because we were once the same, full of vengeance and hate. But we've changed. For so long I've wanted to leave my past my past, where it belongs, like you have".
"So, what went on between us…".
"Was real" Amelia quickly interrupted Regina "Everything I've ever felt for you was real since I met you all those years ago" Regina gave her a tear filled smile as she placed her hand onto of Amelia's curling her fingers around the red heads "I was stupid enough to put the Brotherhood before anything else, even myself. Then I put my vengeance before telling you how I really felt".
"And now?" Amelia saw the tears in her eyes.
"He's my husband" she tells her.
Snatching her hand off the assassin's the former Queen waited for the enviable to happen. She was choosing John over her. Over them.
"I loved him when my whole world fell apart around me. I made a vow…" she trailed off "I've made so may damn vow's in my life. One to serve the brotherhood in its entirety and sacrifice a normal life. I made another to kill all those who took the family I had made away from the Brotherhood only to find my son was alive on Neverland with my father no less. I made a vow to bring Snow White to you and now I'm playing godmother to her new-born son"
"So, you've made your choice"
"It's not one I make lightly Regina. I've lived by a code since I was a child. I need to keep at least one of my vow's even if it breaks my heart, not to be with you. Otherwise, what the hell kind of life am I living? What kind of example am I settling for Tom?" Amelia stood from the sofa and stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket as she let the tears in her eyes fall "I hope you can understand" she headed for the door only to stop and turn back to see Regina on her feet.
"John said he was at the palace awaiting execution when Swan found him and Marian. Did you know who he was before you sentenced him?".
"No. I didn't" Amelia nodded and let herself out of the office leaving Regina to herself.
She hoped she had made the right decision.
After Amelia left and ended their relationship, deciding to stay with John. Regina found herself going to the 'Critical Care Pharmacology' department of Storybrooke hospital where she had kept Sydney Glass in or as he was known as a genie in the Enchanted Forest that once enchanted her mirrors in the palace. When Amelia left her, her built up emotions caused the mirror in her office to smash by her magic. In the reflection she saw what she needed to do to get her love back, once and for all, the only way she knew how.
The former Evil Queen brought Sydney to her vault for privacy. Unknown to her on the surface all hell was breaking loose with the emergence of an ice monster that is reaping havoc with the small town.
Regina had taken Henry's storybook with her to show Sydney what she wanted to do. She had the book open to a page which illustrated both Amelia and John, but and very different Amelia. Instead of her signature set of robes she was wearing a black and white apron dress sorting a fringe over her forehead with the rest of her hair straight going down past her shoulders.
The assassin had once told her that she had met her husband after one of his crew members discovered her after sneaking onto the Godspeed after she had to run from Monteriggioni.
The page illustrated the couple looking lovingly into each other's eye's as they were married in a place called Arendelle with a woman in a shimmering blue dress, another younger woman in a back and green dress with tied up red hair and stocky blonde man with a reindeer stood next to him, and oddly enough a small snowman stood with a small cloud hovering over his head with snow flurries falling on him. Witnessing the vows being made between the woman she loved and the man that now stood in the way of their happy ending.
"His name is John Smith" she starts telling Sydney "Thanks to Emma, he's back and recapturing that... Happy ending this book gave him".
"The book gave it to him?" the former genie asks her.
"It's powerful. It's more than just a book. What happens inside it appears immutable. But I'm stronger. We're going to change things".
"How?".
Regina pointed to John "He needs to be removed".
Sydney lips upturned into a smirk "Ah, that's where I come into this... Your murderous arm. I knew there was a reason that you kept me in that prison for all those years, waiting till I could be of service. I knew you hadn't forgot about me".
"Right" the former Queen gave a polite smile to the man.
"How do you want me to kill him?".
"I don't want you to do anything of the sort" Regina quickly corrected him "If he shows up dead, how long do you think it would take before someone figured out I put you up to it? This requires a more elegant touch. I have to undo Emma's mistake. I have to go back in time before Emma arrived and kill John before he can be saved".
"What? I don't get is my purpose in all this?" he queried with the Queen.
"Well, as queen, I sentenced many to death, captured many prisoners" she trailed off.
"You don't remember this John Smith" Sydney stated.
"Well, he's awfully vanilla. Even with that jawline. Can you blame me?" she trailed off "I need you to show me the exact moment I captured him, so I know when to travel back to".
"But how am I supposed to do that? In this world, I'm no longer the mirror with..." Regina easily remedy's the problem and magically puts Sydney back inside the mirror that hung on the wall.
"Now you are" she tells him as he starts to panic in his prison.
"No! No! No!" the man protested using his fists to pound against the glass.
"Relax. It's just temporary".
"No!".
"Now help me".
Sydney calmed down knowing it was futile to trying and smash his way out "Yes, your majesty".
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, show me who I want to kill most of all".
The mirror changed to the Enchanted Forest to when she had both Marian and John in the hands of her knights. The woman struggled against the knights while John stayed calm with a bleeding bottom lip from trying to fight the knights off. He alone managed to beat three of her knights by hand before they outnumbered him with swords.
The queen chooses to question the woman first "Your majesty, no!".
"Where is Snow White?" the Evil Queen asked her but Marian stayed in silence in defiance of the Queen. Regina looks to the knights either side of the peasant woman "she thinks silence is bravery, not stupidity. She dies tomorrow" she decided turning away from the woman ready to interrogate the man "Hurry her along. The stench of peasant is overwhelming".
"I feel sorry for you" that made Regina stop and turn to face the prisoner.
"Do you?".
"If you had a family of your own, if you had love, you'd know you shouldn't do this. You wouldn't have to be so cruel".
The Evil Queen marched back to confront Marian "Don't you tell me what I do or don't understand. I know who I am and what I want. And right now..." Regina grabbed the woman's face with a glove hand" It's your head on a spike" Regina let the women's face go and evilly laughed as she turned and set her sights on the well-built man in front of her.
"You're a monster! You're a monster!" Marian barked at the Queen as she was taken away to be executed on her majesty's command leaving just her and John flanked by a couple of her knights.
John's blue eye's met the Queen's brown as she came towards him with a wide smirk "Now, you seem like a sensible man" she placed a finger on his firm chest and slowly dragged it down seductively "Where is Snow White?" she asked his softly.
"Don't touch me" he tells her as he pushes the Queen's hand off him only to be grabbed by her knight and retrained his arms for touching her. as she got a closer look at his arms, it looks like he could easily snap her knights in half. He was strong. Very strong.
"Let him go" she orders her knights. They looked at her in confusion, but she simply raised a disapproving eyebrow at them and they let him go "Now answer the question" she orders him as he steps forward away from the guard easily over towering her to address her.
"I don't know anything about this Snow White" he slowly tells the Queen with a straight face "I'm just looking for my wife".
"And pray tell why any wife would let anyone with your…" she paused as her eyes looked southwards trying to peak behind him "…bone structure be separated from her" she drawled out seductively taking his chin beard covered chin in the hand only for him to scratch his head away from her.
"She was taken from me by the Brotherhood of Assassins a few years ago. I've been looking for her ever since" a curious brow rose on the Queen's face at the mention of the Brotherhood.
"Hmmm" she mused to herself pacing the ground before him "What's your wife's name?".
"Amelia" he told her "Amelia Smith, Your Majesty".
Her heart dropped hearing the name of her Black Widow uttered by this man. Her husband was supposed to be long dead. Damn it, why'd it have to be him? The Widow was becoming one of her best weapons in her fight against those who thought Snow White was the rightful Queen. She couldn't lose her now, if this man was truly John Smith then she would leave her in a heartbeat.
The mere thought of the woman leaving her stomach churn comfortably. She was getting attached.
She finally stopped pacing and smiled up to the man sweetly before replying "Well you're in-luck. Mister?".
"Smith. Captain John Smith" he answered her. It was him "How do you know my wife?" he asks her curiously.
Regina took a deep breath as her eye's trailed his firm chest "Oh Captain my Captain" she sighed stroking his firm chest again "I'm afraid you've come all this way for nothing" she pouted sadly at the man seeing his face drop "I'm afraid the woman you're looking for is long dead".
"H-How?" he chokes out as she whirled around pacing the forest floor as she contemplated her next words.
"Yes, I remember now, she came to me looking for a way to dismantle her old Brotherhood, if I'm correct. I had to turn her away, I simply didn't want to involve myself in matter's of politics with them, only the next day, the woman fitting that name had a run in with some of my knights and found herself in one of my cells".
She turned back to see that her knights had to retrain him again as his face contorted into anger and had his hands had turned into fists aiming for her "What did you do?" he growled at her as he tried to push the knight off him. She could see they were struggling to keep him still.
"I had her executed of course" she added offhandedly. That was all she had to say for John to send the knights either side of him to the ground and go for the Queen.
She quickly raised her hand into a choke hold stopping the large man inches away from her and lifted him off the ground. He strained his neck up and kick out out his legs underneath him as he could feel the pressure around his neck, clawing at the area with his large hands only to find nothing was there and pry off "She begged for her life" she told him smiling.
John looked down as his face became red as he looked her in the eye and choked out "You…are...a…monster" Regina's smile fell into a scowl.
Regina waved her hand sending the man crashing onto the ground in a heap as he gasped for air "Take him away, he die's tomorrow" she orders her guards whirling around and walking away
"Was that what you were looking for?" Sydney's voice broke the memory before her.
"Exactly" she replied as felt a tear roll down her cheek.
Amelia had found where Robin and the Merry Men were camping out near the trail deep within the forest. She watched as John greeted his best friend Robin in a brotherly hug after all these years thinking the other dead, while Tom had gone off with Roland as Amelia cleared the air with Marian after threatening her last night. She seemed hesitant to forgive the former assassin but with Robin's help they came to a mutual understanding.
Their husbands loved each other like brothers which meant they needed to be civil for their sake. It was the least Amelia could do to help John and Marian to transition into their situation here. After pleasant conversation they were interrupted as they heard three pairs of feet running towards them. Looking to the sound they saw Emma, Hook and David running towards them.
"What is it?" Amelia called out standing up to met the trio.
"Some kind of... Snow monster" David informs them.
"Snow monster?" John question out load, only for David to nod in confirmation as he panted for breath. John looked to his wife who was looking back at him with the same expression, only for her to simply shake her head at him to keep quiet.
"No monster shall cross our path" Robin tells them standing up "We'll give you our assist..." the sound of growling interrupted Robin, whatever it was it was big.
"It's getting closer" Hook warned them "It's coming from the north" the ground shook as its large feet landed on the ground as it approached them.
Amelia and John snapped their heads away from one another to see said snow monster for the first time.
"Marshmallow?" Amelia said out load. Emma looked at the red head in confusion.
"You know it?!" the savior yelled at her in disbelief.
"That's a long story Swan" she replied throwing out her forearms unsheathing her blades from her gauntlets and bringing them up in front of her as David and Robin reached for weapons. She was glad she brought them now.
Little John came from nowhere and shot the monster with a bolt "There!" he yelled in triumph as the bolt hit the monsters shoulder the monster roared at them after it brushed the attack off.
Amelia jumped forward squeezing herself between David and Little John, she reached over and pushed the crossbow down "No, no, no! Don't shoot! It only attacks when it feels threatened" she tells the group.
"How do you know that luv?" Hook asked the assassin.
"Longer story" she panted as the monster got closer.
"Pistol, sword…" Hook listed off "Hook, my cunning wit... I don't think we have what it takes".
"Calm down Sparrow, you forgot my blades" Amelia added as she stood firm with her blade out. She had no idea what she was gonna do, there's no snow to cushion her fall this time. John watched in a mix of amazement and concern for his wife as she stepped up to face the monster head on ahead of the others.
"Emma does" David stated looking at his daughter.
"What?" she questioned.
"Your magic, love" Hook clarified as the monster got ever closer and growled at the group.
"Right".
"You can do this" he encouraged the woman who nodded closing her eyes and held her hands out palm up, light magic gathering in her palms until a burst came from them and hit the giant snowman on the other shoulder making him step back from the force.
"Take that, frosty" Emma quipped. But this only made Marshmallow more angry as he roared at them once again and grow spikes on his shoulders and long sharp icicle teeth grew in his mouth "Really?" she exasperated.
The red head gulped in fear knowing what was coming next.
"We're sorry" Amelia whimpered before Marshmallow swung out with one of its large arms hitting Emma and then turns to the others and blew a hard-icy breath towards them making them fall back into a heap. John jumped into action and slid across the ground on his knee's towards Little John's weapon picking it up as Marian came forward with a bow and arrow.
Grabbing the crossbow he saw it was ready loaded, on one knee he brought it onto his shoulder and aimed at the monster's head. Both him and Marian let off a shot each both doing nothing as he hovered protectively over his wife's unconscious form. The monster swung out again as John ducked for the snowman to send Marian to the ground.
John fell back in fear as the monster loomed over him and his defenseless wife. He closed his eyes and turned his head waiting for the killing blow, only for a second to tick by for nothing to happen. Opening his eye's he looks to see the Evil Queen step out from behind a tree and step in front of the monster between him and it.
Regina looked back to see him looking back with his long hair disheveled like it was in the memory "Please..." he begged from the forest floor "Help us. Please".
The Queen doesn't say anything by disappear in a cloud of purple smoke "No" Marian bawled next to him from the women's abandonment. The snowman roars as it lifted its flat foot over him. John covers himself and Amelia as best he could for the deadly impact, only for the sound of the monster screaming in pain and then nothing. He turned onto his back to see Regina behind it having destroyed the snow monster.
"You saved us" Marian gasped out as the others started to wake up.
Amelia groggily woke up as she sat up on her forearms, seeing John hovering over her "John?" she asked in confusion as the man brought her in a tight embrace as he knelt over her.
"You're okay" he panted into the ear "We're okay" over his shoulder she saw Regina standing there wringing out her hands nervously. Her emerald eyes met her hers giving the brunette a curt nod in thanks as she wrapped her arm around his chest.
Regina nodded back before turning back to Marian "Are you all right?" Regina asked the woman. John finally pulled away standing up as he held out a hand for Amelia to grab and pull herself up off the ground.
"Yes" Marian answered for the pair of them "Maybe you're not a monster".
"Maybe I'm not" she replied to Marian, before she turned her head towards John "Welcome to Storybrooke, John. Marian" she curtly nodded to both new residents.
"Thank you" John thanks Regina before she turns and walks away from the group.
"Regina, we've been trying to find you" Emma tried to catch up to Regina "We need to talk about..." before she could finish Regina disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke, leaving the group in the forest.
"Does that happen all the time, or is this a one off?" John asks his wife as they hung around the forest after Marshmallow's return.
"Unfortunately, no. But the snow monster is new" Amelia told him. John waited for the group to disperse slightly as he leaned in to speak to his wife quietly.
"It's her Amy" he whispered to her. Referring to the woman that had bore witness to their marriage all those year ago.
"It might not be Cap; we can't be sure" she tried to downplay her husband's hypothesis.
"She made that exact monster in Arendelle, don't tell me it's a co-incidence" only to get no reaction from the woman he loved "Please don't shut me down on this, I know things are weird between us but please talk to me".
"All I can do is warn Emma" she tell him "We can't tell them all we know for now, otherwise they'll hunt her down and we both know what would happen if we scare her even more" John nodded in agreement remembering their short time in the kingdom.
"But we will talk, just not now" she promises him placing a sweet kiss on his cheek making the man pause to savor his wife's affection as she hesitated to pull away to rest her forehead against his to simmer his anxieties of the situation they had found themselves in.
"I love you Amy" he quietly tells her, making the redhead smile to herself as she felt the familiar warmth settle in her heart whenever she heard those words coming from him. It was still there after all these years, thankful that the darkness hadn't taken that away from her.
"I know" she replies stroking his beard covered cheek with her thumb "I love you too Cap" she replies unaware of the blonde that had seen her display of affection towards her husband before making herself walk away as the guilt settled in her stomach.
Stepping away from the others, she sought out to find Emma to tell her what she was willing to share at that moment in time. Elsa didn't need to be hunted down like Zelena had it would only made everything worse. Again.
After a small trek she found the blonde talking to Hook, instead of making her presence known she leaned against a tree out of sight of the pair to let them have a quiet moment they all needed.
"Right now, I just feel too guilty" she heard Emma tell Hook.
"Over Regina?" Hook prodded the blonde.
"She lost someone she really cares for because of me" she tells him "And not just her. Lia too. You heard the way she used to talk about John in Neverland. That must've been so hard to move on from him after what happened to them".
"Aye I can't imagine" he replied clenching his jaw as John's warning came the front of his mind.
"I don't know if she could ever forgive me for bringing him here".
"She will Swan" he tried to reassure the blonde "No, there's more to this than just Regina and our friendly assassin, isn't there?" Amelia smirked to herself as she heard nothing come from the pair of them knowing she was kissing the pirate.
"Be patient" she tells him.
"I have all the time in the world. Unless... Another monster appears and kills me".
"How about just me pirate?" Amelia say's coming out from behind the tree.
Hook smiled at her quip "I thought we were friends now luv?".
"There's still time to change my mind" she retorted with a smile.
"Lia. H-How long you were there?" Emma asked the assassin slightly red faced for what she had just said about her.
"Not long" Amelia gave Hook a quick wink that Emma missed "I was hoping for a second with our sheriff about our new snowman problem".
"Oh yeah, you knew it" Emma remembered Amelia calling the monster Marshmallow.
"I did, from a long time ago though".
"Are you going to continue to be cryptic all-night love because we're losing light" Hook exasperated at the assassin at her cryptic wording.
Amelia let out chuckle as Emma elbowed Hook in the stomach before becoming serious again "Long story short. I met a snow monster like the one we met today on the way to finding a runaway Queen. While I was running from my old family".
"Wait, how long ago was this?" the blonde asked her
"Thirty years, give or take" she answered as John found them and stood next to his wife.
"Thirty years?" Hook repeated.
"Then give" Amelia said to the pirate before turning back to Emma as her husband came to stand next to his wife with his hands on his hips.
"Miss Swan" John spoke up making the blonde and pirate look towards him "In all seriousness, we only know one person in all the realms that can make a snow monster like that, and if she's here and scared, she can send the whole of town into an Ice Age not even the Savior could survive".
Returning to their apartment after being convincingly beaten by Marshmallow's twin, the Smith Family sat down to eat the takeout from Granny's completely exhausted from their encounter. It had been a while for the both of them since they had to fight something that big as Tom hung on his parents every word as they recounted their fight or lack thereof with the snow monster that everyone had been talking about even laughing at the way she was easily knocked out.
The only part of the story things got awkward was when they told him how Regina appeared to save them all only for his father to quickly change the subject to when he fought a yaoguai.
She was impressed, she had only read about them. She had almost missed a lot when he told her how he had woken up from being pushed into the sea, washing up near the Forbidden Fortress with no memory of her or Tom, with only flashes of them to keep him searching for them.
The redhead watched as the pair as the conversation easily flowed between them as the teen sought out to find out all the adventure's his father had gotten up to only to be sent to wash up before going to bed by his mother having lost track of the time that went by as he enjoyed his father's company for the first time.
The teen had to step over the shopping bags that held John's modern clothes as he headed toward the kitchen to wash up. With the three of them now, it would be a bit of squeeze but it wasn't anything the adults weren't already used to in the close confides of their cabin.
After bidding his parents goodnight the teen left the adults to themselves as his father was left staring at this bedroom door.
"I know" his wife voiced from next to him making her first love look back at her "It's still strange seeing him like that for me sometimes".
"He could just about put a sentence together the last time we were together" he remembered.
"And now he hardly says a thing unless he wants something" she retorts making John chuckle only to quickly sober up from her attempt to lighten the somber mood that had quickly settled between them.
"I missed so much" John said out-load "Do you know what happened to him?".
"He said that he grew up in an orphanage near the dark palace" Amelia's eyes dropped to her hand on the table, not able to look him in the eye. He had been put in place so near to her all along it made her stomach churn, just thinking about it "He stole bread whenever he could and ran away from the dark knights most of the time until he was fourteen" she supplied feeling his large hand take her's as his thumb gently stroked the back of her hand easing out the anxiousness that she felt speaking about what happened the night after the Godspeed sunk.
"Then?" he gently prompted her.
"Then his grandfather took him to place called Neverland"
"Grandfather?"
"My mother's, father called himself Peter Pan, he would take young boys who believed in magic to Neverland and keep them there, never ageing. He had thugs take Henry there about a year ago, where I also found Romeo"
She watched as his eyebrow furrowed in confusion at the mention of her father being on the same island as their son "Your Father?" he questioned her in confusion only her to nod along as tears started to gather in her eye's at the mention of the older Montague.
"Everything that I thought was true when I first met you has unraveled so much, I'm sure what I believe in anymore" she honestly tells him "There's so much I need to tell you but I don't think I have the strength to go through it all again"
Seeing his love in so much pain he scraped the legs of her kitchen chairs across the floor to get close to her so that could lean into her across the corner of the table to cup her face into his hands as she grasped onto his arm as she was trying to hold
"I believe in you" he firmly tells her making her look into his blue eye's "Tell me in your own time, we have all the time in the world now. A second chance" he tells her seeing the hope in his eye's. The ones that told her that she was going to be safe with him. The same ones that she thought everything was lost.
He was really there in front of her, she hadn't realized until then how much she missed his voice, his touch, his everything. She made herself forget about the man that risked everything for her, even when she warned him that everyone that had loved her up to that point had died or hurt for doing so.
She wasn't going to let this second chance go.
At that the redhead found herself doing something she never thought she was do again as she closed the distance between them as she captured his soft lips in her's in a searing kiss that sent sparks dancing up her arms that told them that everything was going to be okay again.
AN: Yay! Started season 4
Not gonna lie, I'm gonna try and get through the first part as fast as I can because it is going to be mainly focused on Amelia and John. But you'll understand why that is as we get to the latter chapters.
Yes there is a Frozen chapter that's going to be published in this story. Hopefully coming soon.
So bare with until we get to the second part of the season which is one of my favorites.
Anyway hope you enjoyed the chapter.
